I've driven by Southside Tavern countless times in the months since I moved to the area, and since it always seems to be packed, I figured it was time to check it out. I'm happy to say this local bar and grill exceeded my expectations! It's located on a busy corner with a small parking lot out front - but there's a huge free lot next door for easy access. I visited around 7pm on a Friday night and had no trouble getting a table even though the place was pretty full. It's a causal spot with lots of tables, a large bar, and tons of TVs throughout (seems like a great place to catch a game). I started out with the Mistletoe cocktail, and was pleasantly surprised by how well balanced and refreshing it was! You don't expect a great bar program from casual little spots like this, so the fact that it wasn't undrinkabley sweet was a win in my book. The food is your typical tasty, bar and grill vibes with generous portions. The menu is massive and covers everything from burgers and sandwiches to tacos and turkey dinners. It's a great spot for when no one can agree on what kind of food they're in the mood for, but still wants a reliable, casual meal. We'll be back!

I asked for my burger well done, and when I got home, I realized it was still mooing..

We were heading to see a movie at AMC in Braintree and wanted to grab some dinner beforehand so we stopped in at Southside Tavern. It's situated on a corner in the little downtown. It has some parking in front, but there is a municipal lot adjacent. When you walk in, it's a wide open area with a dining room on the left and a bar area on the right. We chose to sit in the dining room. Perusing the interesting menu, we immediately focused on the buffalo chicken wontons, and we loved them! They weren't too crispy, and the filling was spicy and delightful. My husband got the fireman burger because he likes spicy things. He said it was good, but not as spicy as he had hoped. For me, I got the steak tips. First, they are more like steak pieces, tender, and marinated to perfection. I really can't emphasize enough how delicious these were. There are a large number of sides to choose from, and you can choose two. I got sautéed spinach and asparagus, both fresh and wonderful. I loved this place so much that I went back a few nights later before the end of my trip. My husband had already gone home so I was on my own, but when I got there, the place was packed. The only place to sit was the bar, which was fine. They had the Boston Bruins game on and the bartender took great care of me. I wanted to have those steak tips again, but a special caught my eye. It was a chipotle ranch quesadilla burger. It comes with fries, but I also wanted a Caesar salad so I ordered that, but I think I wasn't clear and the bartender substituted the salad for the fries. The Caesar salad, of course m, was a much healthier option so I just went with it and it was so good and fresh! I loved the freshly grated Parmesan. The burger was interesting. It was very delicious but messy to eat because unlike a typical quesadilla, it was sort of just a burger on tortillas. The messy-ness did not detract from how good it was, though. If we lived in the area, this would be our go to place!

The restaurant is located on a busy corner. There is a parking lot, it tends to be full, if you see a spot on the street, park there. There is outdoor seating with pretty flowers and heaters. The vibe is welcoming here. Service was good and the staff was quick to grab our drinks and take our order. It was pretty busy for a weeknight. The chicken was cooked well and was moist on the inside. The sautéed spinach complemented the mash potatoes and cheese. The menu has some creative options I would like to try next time.

Food was mediocre at best but not a bad place to grab a beer and watch a game. We might come back in the summer time for the outdoor dining.

Southside Tavern is a casual spot for a quick meal after a round of golf in Braintree. It is only 5 minutes away from the golf course and has decently priced food and drinks. My friends got the burgers and it came with generous portion of fries or sweet potatoe fries. I had the Chicken Dominico with pasta and the marsala demi glaze was delicious. If there was more sauce, it would be better for the huge pasta ratio. It was pretty busy for a Tuesday night but luckily they have their own parking lot. They were doing trivia night and had plently of TVs for the games. Great chill spot.

Your standard American foods located at Southside Tavern Bar! Parking can be hard to find if the lot is full. They open really late for the area which is nice. Nice bar, open floor plan and dining room. Really good vibe and friendly staff! The Chicken Dominico is my go to dish with mushroom and gravy. They got your standard sandwiches and burgers. Any sandwiches can be turned into a wrap or a panini. Good food and portions, price isn't too bad either.

This is a great find in Braintree. Before I get into the review, I am actually giving them 3 1/2 stars just for the record. So my buddy and I arrived at this location and we parked easily right at the front door in the private parking lot. They have a handicap ramp outside if anyone is in a wheelchair, very easy access. The exterior of the building is very Quaint and some white festive. In the summertime they do put out tables with umbrellas. As we walked inside, we were greeted promptly by a host, who sat us down immediately. The menu was vast and it took a couple minutes glance thru and decide what to order. My buddy went for the bacon cheddar burger for $14.99. It was a good size burger coded with white cheddar cheese and hickory smoked bacon on a bun. It also came with some shredded lettuce slice a tomato slice of onion and a pickle slice. In addition you could choose one side for free which was included with the burger and could be chosen from any of the side orders available on the menu, my buddy, pick the mashed potatoes, which appeared to be homemade and tasted great. The burger itself was cooked perfectly, and had great flavor. As for my selection I chose the shot rib grilled cheese sandwich. It caught my eye, and when it arrived at the table it was a little different than I thought, but overall a great sandwich. It's tender braised beef short ribs, buttered and grilled on sourdough bread, smothered with melted cheddar cheese, and a side cup of Ajou. For my side, I got the sweet potato fries. They seem to be a little bit on the greasy side. My sandwich, however, was original. It was put together with a good amount of beef short rib and the sourdough bread was toasted. Excellent sandwich now to even make the sandwich great was the Ajou it was a thicker Ajou, not watery, It was on the thicker side and you could dunk the sandwich into the Ajou excellent!! The young lady name Natasha was our waitress. She was extremely pleasant, very polite, knowledgeable, and very sociable. She was willing to answer a few questions about the menu, and she brought everything over promptly. I would give her a solid five out of five stars. The atmosphere in the restaurant was hustle and bustle when you walk in, to the left, it looked more like an Elks Hall with scattered tables and basically no decor. But to the right when you walk in a little bit and go to the right, they had a large bar with high tops, and it was very festive in there. I would like to state that I was there at on Saturday afternoon around 3 o'clock and the place was jampacked, and had a good vibe. Now the reason why this restaurant is a 3 1/2 star instead of a 4 1/2 star is because of the men's room I made my way to the urinal and I almost got knocked over with the odor. They have a waterless urinal actually two and I don't know if it's functioning incorrectly but I could've got knocked over by the odor. It was difficult to stay in there and relieve myself. The smell was so bad. Other than that, the rest of the restaurant seem to be clean and odor free. I would highly suggest this restaurant as the food quality seem to be top-notch and as I said my experience with Natasha was over and above what you would expect she's fabulous and so is the rest of the staff.

Ughhh. I want to like this place, I really do. It's in a good location and has a fun, casual, laid-back atmosphere. Unfortunately, I think the food gets worse & worse each time I come here. It just tastes like they use low quality, not fresh ingredients and put zero thought into any recipe. Everything is just so bland and flavorless. I hate to say this but eat elsewhere and maybe come here for a drink or two...

Appetizers- buffalo chicken tenders, mozzarella sticks and steak and cheese eggrolls.

I've tried a number of seafood boils around MA and Cap't Loui is definitely one of the better ones…read more We had shrimp and mussels with medium Cap't Loui sauce and lemon pepper and added garlic noodles and sausage. They sell by the half pound or pound with their prices listed on the walls in the restaurant based on their current market prices. The portions felt like a lot for what we ordered as we split about three pounds of seafood between three people and were all stuffed. The mussels were big and shrimp were very fresh and clean. The medium sauce was not too spicy and it also came with a potato and small corn on the cob. I thought their garlic noodles were not as good as I've had at other seafood boils, but they do not skimp on the garlic! The restaurant has a spacious front dining area where you enter from the mall with tables for larger parties and the back area where there are a lot of tables for smaller groups. All tables are lined with paper as you'd expect from a seafood boil restaurant and they use all plastic ware and cups. The service was relatively quick and attentive and they also give you gloves, bib, and a bucket for the shells as you eat. I recommend ordering combos as a group if you are hungry as you get free sides depending on how many pounds you order.

I stepped out to try something new at Legal Sea Foods…read more The Creamy Shrimp & Corn Soup was indeed creamy and had a good amount of shrimp and good corny flavor. But the shrimp were a bit on the mealy side, so I would prefer their delicious clam chowder over this soup. I considered the Grilled Rainbow Trout with Roasted Corn Salsa and Avocado Crema, but someone else ordered it, so I tried the Haddock baked Anna's Way. My baked haddock was moister than the grilled trout, and was deemed the winner between the two! *** Yet another visit to Legal Sea Food and I turned my attention from their lunch menu to the regular menu and ended up selecting the crabcake and grilled shrimp entree which comes with a salad and a side of pilaf for $45. It was good, as was my sampling of arctic char grilled with lemon butter & crispy capers, which turned out to be an orange colored fish, tender with a nice crisp skin. I considered changing up the slides briefly, but the veggies were different since our previous trip, and the brussels sprouts were gone. I must give props to service on this visit. It wasn't just better than Legal's normal service, but it stood out all around. Julia not only conveyed that she had been informed of the note I had included in our reservation, but she wished my parents a happy anniversary, divided the bowl of soup that they were going to share for their convenience, and surprised them with a warm cookie a la mode with an anniversary note decoration beside it. We never had to ask for a single thing. The orders all came out correctly, and refills of water were offered before we even felt need.

TUNA TARTARE This was one of my favorite bites of the night. The tuna was fresh and tender mixed with just the right amount of seasoning. STEAK TIP GREEK SALAD The steak tips were tender and juicy and paired so well with the fresh greens, tomatoes, olives and feta. The dressing tied everything together and made each bite bright and savory. A great balance of protein and veggies. Loved how hearty this was. CHILLED ORZO SALAD Light refreshing and flavorful. Bay Pointe removes both claws from the lobster which I appreciate and puts the whole claw meat under the stuffing mix. On this particular day only 1 claw was found. When I inquired about the missing claw I was told it was cut up in the stuffing mix. First of all, I have been to this restaurant many times ordering this same dish. So, tell me why 1 claw meat would be cut up and not the other one. Once the explanation was given it was utterly bull. I've never had the claw meat cut up and mixed in with the stuffing and as far as I'm concerned it should never be an option to do that. If so, I probably would not order this dish anymore. I want to see my claws in it's entirety and not cut up. Bottom line lobsters have 2 claws not 1. Both should have been in the dish and basically it wasn't. This will not deter me from coming to this establishment, but please think about your response before providing an answer that doesn't make any sense. We also love their stuffed dates. For entrees, I had their Salmon which is always cooked to perfection. My husband's had their Steak Frites which he enjoyed very much. Dessert is always a tough choice since all of them are excellent but this time we went with their brownie sundae. Met up with some good friends in Quincy and we're looking for a place to eat. Conveniently located by the Quincy Center stop, this place was great! We were seated quickly without a reservation (though clearly it can get popular, we showed up at 5:30 and by 6 the place was full of reserved parties!) and our server was very helpful. We got the fried calamari and the steak tartare as starters. While the calamari itself was crunchy and nicely lightly battered and fried, I would guesstimate that about 50% of the dish was actually calamari. The rest of the fried bits were carrot coins, lemon slices (with the seeds still in...) and what I think were pieces of poblano peppers. This honestly felt disappointing as the portion was quite small to start, and then for half of it to be miscellaneous fried veggies felt like it wasn't a great deal. The steak tartare was also an extremely tiny portion, with the plate heavily populated by arugula leaves and six tiny toasts. Not the most generous portions here unfortunately. I got the steak frites as my main. The steak itself was presently beautifully with a peppercorn sauce poured over it. However, I was looking for the salt shaker because the steak was quite underseasoned. While it looked like a good medium rare cook (how I ordered it) with a great looking sear, I had quite a bit of chew work to do getting through the gristly bits. The fatty side cap was a bit chewy and could have used some direct searing. The oysters were delicious! Not even a little bit of grit, with a very onion-heavy mignonette as an accompaniment. We didn't order much from the raw bar due to my friends' tastes but I feel like this would probably be the reason I come back another time with different people! I could have definitely been happier with the food here. But again don't sleep on the raw bar and if you're looking for a nice place to hang for an evening, overall great vibes here!
