My salad was great. My husband loved the fries and Ruben. I would definitely go back. Also the server was very nice and did a great job.

Awesome place. Great food and a great staff. Will definitely be coming back when I am in Slidell.

Fantastic food. We had a little wait for a table at about 6:30PM on Thursday which we came to find out was steak night. By 8PM there were a few more open tables. Friendly and attentive staff. I will go back. read more

Salad was horrible and poboy was cold why pay for a fried shrimp when its going to be cold. Waitress was not helpful and management cold only be bothered to redirect.. go to Kenny's at least there the reason why they ignore you is because they are busy but yet food is always hot! read more

Love this place and everyone who works here especially Ashley and Jenn the blondes lol

Came into town last night for business. When traveling I will try to go out of my way to support local establishments and avoid chains. This place was recommended by a couple of locals and not too far from my hotel. Went there last night for dinner and they had a Ribeye special that I had with a cup of Gumbo. Both were excellent. Today I was with two people from the company I represent and we suggested we try it for lunch. The place was packed though we were seated in less than 10 minutes. I had oyster po boy fully "dressed" and some onion rings "thin ones" that were great with a really good sauce. We were all quite happy with food and service. One complaint from one in our party " The burger was too big!" read more

This is more than just a cafe. It's fun, food selections are numerous and varied, they have a nice drink menu for bar or table service. Food servings are very generous. We discovered this place a few years ago on our trips from TX to FL. Now we look forward to stopping here on every trip. Try the fried catfish platter. Never had any better! read more

I love this place. It is a great lunch spot. Fun atmosphere and staff id friendly. Lots to choose from on the menu.

This place has deteriorated to mediocre standards. I ordered their strawberry salad and the greens looked like it came from a pig trough. It looked, wilted and unwashed, I couldn't eat it. read more

Shelby is an awesome server and the Irish Gumbo was amazing and SO generous. Bayou Bird was also generous portion and very good! Sweet potato fries also great! read more

My favorite place in Slidell. The food and service are always fantastic . My favorites are the Rueben , the philly and the French dip.

This place is phenomenal. Hands down the best local cuisine in the Slidell area, and lord knows, I've tried it all. The atmosphere is always upbeat and the wait staff is always very friendly, which is a plush. The food, just wow...gumbo, soft shell crab, oysters, shrimp, fish. If you're a seafood lover, you've come to the right place. Oddly enough, the menu is comprised of mostly sandwiches, but you need to flip all the way to the back to get to the good stuff. Tell them Sean sent you, and they'll probably ask, "who the hell is that?" Regardless, go here, you won't be disappointed. read more

Excellent food friendly service. Always great NOLA food. Onion soup fabulous, Roast Beef Po'boys great. Dinner specials are spectacular!!!!

Fried shrimp and oyster basket with Mac and cheese with sweet potato fries and abita Amber. Good grief this is the definition of heaven on earth. This is by far my most favorite place to eat. I've been coming here for years and haven't had a bad experience yet. I just cannot say enough about this place. I even have all of my out of town co-workers coming here. The service as always was perfect. read more

Southside Cafe - Shrimp and oyster with macaroni and sweet potatoe fries. - American Near Me - Slidell, Louisiana

Stopped in on our way out is New Orleans. The food was delicious and service was prompt. We had the red beans and rice, which was huge. Also tried the chicken and sausage gumbo, and it was perfect. If we ever find our way to new orleans again, we'll be sure to stop back in! read more

Consistently good service, food quality, with a pretty extensive menu that is sure to please every member of your dining company. This is always a reliable option for my household when considering our lunch or dinner plans. Reasonably priced and serving sizes are substantial. I would recommend this restaurant to my friends and family. read more

We discovered this place on the way to swamp tours and I must say it was a wonderful find! Very wonderful spot! Food was AWESOME! Drinks were on POINT! Waitress was very helpful and friendly! read more

Today I've come with my 2 sisters to celebrate Barbara 's birthday. The food is consistently great and today was extra special because it was just us three girls. At the end Mike, the manager came and sang a beautiful Happy Birthday to Barbara and brought the most delicious hot chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream and whipping cream. They ate as I texted. A great afternoon of excellent food and fun with my sisters. read more

Ate here twice while on travel this week. Service was great and the food was incredible. Their French Onion Soup was by far the best I've ever had. The atmosphere is comfortable and relaxing. Next time I'm in Slidell I will definitely without a doubt eat here again. I'm already missing the French Onion Soup so badly!! LOL! read more

Southside Cafe - Had this amazing Shrimp Po Boy along with the best French Onion Soup I've ever had! - American Near Me - Slidell, Louisiana

This is not a cafe. It is a SANDWICH JOINT, SANDWICH SHOP, or SANDWICH SHOPPE if you want. They had one item on special that was not a sandwich and guess what? THEY WERE OUT OF IT!!! The service was slow and I actually left no tip when I am a twenty percent tipper for basic service. I ordered the french dip and it was bland with bland au jous. As a veteran I appreciate the military motif of the place but please change your name from CAFE to SANDWICH SHOP. read more

Me and my wife came in for the first time. We had the mushroom and artichoke soup. My wife said it the best she ever had. I definitely recommend getting the crawfish balls which are amazing. We shared a roast beef melt and New Orleans muffuletta. Both were very good. Going to try something else next time. The service was really the only bad thing but it was horrible. Just bad. No personality, forgot to get us drink menu, and only came around once to ask if everything was ok which was when we were done eating. I definitely recommend coming here to try it out. read more

So glad we found this place while driving across I-10. Huge servings of delicious fresh food with excellent service from Sophia. Fun watching th Saints game with local folk. We will keep this in mind for our next trip this way. read more

This is one of my favorite places. The food is hot and fresh and the ambiance is cool! Get the seafood muffalatta!

Nice place and great food. Stopped thru on our way to the swamp tour. We were crunched for time and they got us right in and served during a very busy Saturday. read more

We decided to have lunch here based on reviews. They were packed at 2pm on a Thursday. Service was slow when were seated, took a bit to get drinks and place orders. We ordered the fried mushrooms and onions rings. Both were hand battered and delivered hot and delicious. I ordered the ribeye dinner and my husband ordered the bacon cheeseburger. I had the salad with mine but they made it with a spring mix and I didn't care for it so I sent it back and got green beans. My husbands burger came out as ordered, medium, and was juicy and hot. My steak was cooked slightly more rare than I prefer but as most places tend to overcook I was happy to have it. We made use of the 15% off with the yelp app discount, the bill ended up still being $46 so the place is a little pricey but the food was worth it. We would go back. read more

We ate here with friends and it was delicious. We had the spinach & artichoke dip and onion rings for appetizers. I had the Irish Channel Gumbo and it was DELICIOUS!!! A few of the other entrees at the table included the open face roast beef and a shrimp/fish basket. I just wish we had saved room for dessert. read more

Went here on Friday night during Lent so we expected a heavy crowd for seafood. Wait was not too long and staff was very friendly. Food was very good as it always is. Fried shrimp Poboy was great. Stuffed artichoke appetizer was a little dry but very tasty. Seafood gumbo was very good! Beer was cold and quick....We'll definitely be back again..love this place read more

Always consistent with their food! Great atmosphere and great drinks as well. Staff is always super friendly!

I looked this café up on yelp and drove 15 minutes to get to it Service was excellent, very friendly, oyster po-boy was fresh but was overpriced and under seasoned. If and when I return to Slidell I will give this place another try and perhaps go in to eat instead of getting a curbside read more

Driving home from Tennessee on my way back to South Louisiana stopped to try on a friend's recommendation. The getting on the waiting list via the yelp app was especially helpful as this place is very busy. The staff is efficient and very courteous. Everything was prepared exactly as ordered and the prices were very fair for the portion size. I would recommended place without any hesitation . read more

The food was really good, fresh and hot. I tried the Bayou Bird, the horseradish was way to strong for my liking, I had to wipe it off. I did finish the sandwich though! Really good. Onion rings were superb. I'm not sure if I arrived around rush hour, but they seemed extremely busy and flustered. Still a great place and will try again. read more

Excellent choice for yummy food. The gumbo is soooo good, try the Irish channel, 2 different gumbo 's with potato salad down the middle. Loved both and the potato salad makes it great. read more

Love coming here! Always a fun vibe and filled with the locals. We enjoy coming on Sundays and getting brunch! Their burgers are amazing (get the jalapeño cheddar bun)! You can't go wrong here... the options are endless for even the pickiest of eaters! Also, the French onion soup, wings, and artichoke dip is to die for! read more

My husband and I were traveling through Slidell and decided to stop for lunch. We stopped at Southside Cafe and was blown away by our lunch. We both shared a small muffuletta and a small order of onion rings and it was more than enough as well as fabulous! We came in at noon and only had a ten minute wait. Well worth the stop! read more

My boyfriend surprised me by taking me here for lunch to celebrate my birthday! I've been wanting to try this place for a while too. We got the crawfish balls for our appetizer and it was too spicy for my palette so I only ate one but it had a good flavor (I need to get used to the spiciness down here! lol). Got the seafood platter for our main meal which came with 2 soft-shell crabs, oysters, shrimp, hushpuppies, and catfish! I didn't get to try everything because we got full quickly lol but I did enjoy the soft-shell crab! and I will always enjoy the oysters! My boyfriend enjoyed everything as well but mostly the shrimp. We got two sides as well though which was the chicken and sausage gumbo (super yummy!) and the Mac n cheese, which was really squishy and wasnt impressed wont get that again. I'm happy that he took me here though, I enjoyed eating at this place and will happily come back. read more

Incredible. I rarely give 5 stars. We Stopped for dinner on way to Pops crawfish boil in Mississippi. The catfish was excellent, clean, fresh, light breading, spicy. The Irish gumbo (seafood gumbo and chicken gumbo separated with potato salad) was awesome spicy perfect. Will stop here again when coming thru Slidell. Beer selection was good too, love the local beer Andy gator. 8% alc and great taste. Staff did excellent Job also. read more
