As stated on other review, the take out area is unreal be ready to move a lot it's like a bad intersection. This place is really good. There is nothing bad on the menu. I've tried a few thing, one that sticks out to me is the salads. I have tried the chef and muffaletta salad and let me tell you it is a lot! Very generous proportions. Only bad thing for me it's so far away but it is well worth the drive. Just tried the french onion soup the other night and it was delicious. The boat drink is always good if you are in need of a drink. But you have to go a few times to try everything. We ordered a cup of gumbo, which was delicious, and the crabmeat stuffed mushrooms that were Absolutely delicious!! We also ha a half of a Seafood muffalata, which was sooo good, and more than enough. I highly recommend Southside Cafe! The waitstaff was awesome! Ask and you shall receive! Our waiter MATT, came over to our table, an I asked him "Can we just SKIP the ordering and go right to the eating?" He chuckled something like "That WOULD be nice". A few moments later, the manager MIKE placed a sample of split pea soup in front of me, and mentioned that he overheard me, and that he would be bringing more samples for me to try.....and that he did! Ribeye vegetable soup, baked potato soup, and after eating what I ordered, he came back with an ice cream dessert! Had dinner with the family last night and while the wait was long, it was well worth it. Definitely recommend in checking in with the yelp app if you plan on dining here on a Friday night. Our food was delicious, as usual, and I don't know if someone new is in the kitchen but fries were nice and crispy, cooked perfectly, not soggy at all! We stopped in for a quick lunch on our way home with 8 kids and 10 adults coming home from a baseball tournament. Carley waited on us and absolutely CRUSHED it. Better service than I've had in 5 star restaurants. She got EVERYONES order correct across multiple checks and tables with no one going without full drink. The grilled salmon is wonderful! Our waitress was extremely polite and helpful. The restaurant was busy, a very good sign.

Our first time here, we started off with soup. I ordered the cup of chicken and sausage gumbo that tasted delicious but a lot of rice. Hubby had the 3 bean turkey which he said was very good. Next I had the Big Mo Jamma sammie and it was delicious! The chicken looked shaved not sliced, but that was ok w/ me. Very soft bread, the roast beef was fantastic! We shared a side of fries that came out warm, not piping hot so they became colder fast. Also had the bacon bloody Mary that was pretty good, I had to add lots of tobasco. Hubby got a Reuben which looked and tasted great, he really enjoyed it. He had a regular bloody mary and said the flavor was there but both our drinks were on the weaker side. To end our meal, for dessert we shared a peach cobbler a la mode. It had good flavor although was mushy, I would not recommend it. The ice cream tasted like French vanilla and was the best part about it. Our waiter I think named Brian was nice, attentive and helpful. We went for lunch and it was pretty busy but we were seated right away. They had a pretty extensive menu and everything sounded so good. We wanted to eat healthy and got the salmon salad and the strawberry spinach salad with grilled shrimp. The salads were quite large but very tasty. Our school group of ladies went for our monthly dinner last night and I was pleasantly surprised. I had remembered it being a sandwich place from years ago, but lots more than just sandwiches. Very large menu with lots to choose from. I ordered the daily special, spaghetti and meatballs. It was delicious! Large portions. The server was very helpful and friendly. This was my first time in Louisiana, and I already thought I'd died in the torrential downpour. I entered Southside sopping wet hungry enough to eat my own limbs. I was literally chewing on my arm when the waitress seated me. Anyhow, the food delicious. For appetizers we had the crawfish balls which was enough to hold us over for the main meals. I had the fried oyster muffaletta and my buddy got the salmon. Pro tip: unless you're name is Paul Bunyan, get the half order of the muffaletta. The story of the restaurant is amazing! Unfortunately, our server was less than interested in us. She never gave her name and rarely stayed at the table long enough for us to request anything. Being from out of town, we hoped for a local experience. Both my husband and I felt more like outcasts as everyone obviously knew each other. The food was mediocre and needed salt. The kids burger and chicken strip meal was nice and big though so that was a win. I would not go again if I was driving through the area. This place was jam packed at lunch hour and I know why now! If you can get past the loud noise of the hustle and bustle of a big restaurant, and love seafood then this place is for u! I had the Irish channel gumbo and it was so awesome. They put potato salad in the middle of two different gumbo types. One of them being seafood the other being chicken. Let me tell you it was a clever way to let you sample both gumbos and the sizing was awesome! It was just the right amount of food! I also ordered macaroni and cheese as a side and added chilli to it and omg it was awesome! The other people in my party also had a shrimp poboy and another Irish channel gumbo and they both loved it as much as I do! Docking one star for the noise. By the way, our waitress was on point. Southside cafe is probably my favorite restaurant i visited while in town. We came in from New Orleans on the Cajun Encounter tour - and decided to eat somewhere in town. There is ample seating and no wait even tho we visited during prime time lunch. I decided to get the muffuletta. I was nervous to try it but I'm so happy i did! To start: i HATE olives. But the flavor of the olives in the original muffuletta brings the entire sandwich together. The shrimp muffuletta was really disappointing. The shrimp itself was good but with the bread and lettuce it seemed DRY. Be warned that the sandwiches are HUGE. I thought it would be a normal sandwich size... it is not. Even the "half" sizes are more than enough for two people to share. So....we ain't in Florida anymore! We're in Cajun country! We were recommended Southside Cafe from our neighbors. Having just moved here to the area we were anxious to try out some local places to eat. We've eaten here twice now in one week. Once inside despite Covid still lurking around...and the place was fairly packed and once by takeout...You can say we're hooked! Ok...ok...get to the good part, the food. Super happy I can have Gumbo any damn time I want now and just like my mom and dad used to make (). The wife after deciding on two different choices suddenly spit out "shrimp po' boy". Our server was super cute and friendly and very accommodating. We had zero complaints left full, happy, and with 1/2 a po' boy. Two days later we got take-out. Another po' boy obviously and I got (a whole) seafood muffaletta. It looked like a giant hamburger when I first opened it up! But boy oh boy was it delicious and fed us for a couple of meals!!
