Stopped for the night in Slidell and my 17 yo son picked this restaurant from Yelp. The wait was about 30 minutes on a Wednesday night. The wait was worth it. Our waiter was Matt and he was quick and friendly. Hub ordered the Reuben and said it could have used more dressing. My vegetarian daughter ordered a bowl of mac & cheese and she recommends it to others. The 17 yo birthday boy ordered the the Ultimate Bacon Melt and was delighted. They also gave him a humongous brownie dessert free for his birthday. He was a happy camper! I had a cup of gumbo which was delicious with a wonderful bite and the Strawberry Spinach Salad that was huge. It was good but I would have liked a little more of the pecans. Overall a good choice! read more

Very good and speedy lunch spot! Service was great and food came FAST! Everything was delicious

This place has great atmosphere and super friendly staff. We got a spinach dip that was superb. The rest of our meal was great

5 tvs all set to golf. No one but manager can change and he is "at the bank ". How long does that take anyway? I'm not speculating but others might!! Food was good but service was spotty I got cc and sprite instead of what I ordered. Then all tvs went to nbc golf. Annoying that no one can change. Absurd to move from news to all golf. read more

Great times and easy place to be with my family before the holidays. Enjoyed a an easy meal before cooking our feast.

never ever had such a horrible experience at Southside Cafe. This waitor told me that they couldn't guarantee the quality of the Philly ribeyes meat. And then he walks off. I ask for a manager but a big NO SHOW. So Christian I can Guarantee you one thing We WILL NEVER come back You need to get a job in another profession!!!! read more

I love this place. Local people, local food that is just amazing. Really great friendly community vibe here that is worth checking out.

Excellent food and service!! Always delicious!! Super sweet and friendly!! Always makes you feel welcome!!

I go here for two things...French Onion Soup and/or Bushwhackers. Best place to get both! I updated my review to 5 stars because of the great feedback I received from their management. Also, I have never been disappointed by anything I have ordered...salad, poboys, dinner, etc. read more

Alisa was a fantastic server. I have to recommend the Reuben. We'll be back on Mondays for red beans and rice. Sundays for shrimp and grits

We have been coming here for years. The food is consistently good. You can be loud and rambunctious if you want to or sit in silence if that is your thing. read more

This place has some of the best food we've ever had. Honestly haven't had one bad thing. The shrimp po boy and gumbo along with some killa fries are our go to, but we've had many other items that we've loved as well! This is our favorite stop on our way from NOLA to Bay St. Louis. read more

Really Good food great prices great atmosphere. Great service. We only got the fried food and they nailed it, not sure how good their other items are thus the 4 star. read more

Always a great meal but the acoustics are awful. You can't have an actual conversation & I wonder how the servers manage to take your order.

I haven't been to Louisiana in something like 15 years. Southside Cafe was recommended and it was nothing less than outstanding. The service was perfect and everything we ordered was delicious. I sent a picture of my feast to my dad (retired coast guard, Katrina era) and he immediately noticed the Coast Guard air crew wings in the table. Heartily recommend the red beans & rice and bread pudding. read more

Great service and food! Would highly recommend! Had French onion soup and tuna, at the table they had soft shell crabs and the seafood platter which both enjoyed....and the bread pudding was to die for read more

Had dinner with the family last night and while the wait was long, it was well worth it. Definitely recommend in checking in with the yelp app if you plan on dining here on a Friday night. Our food was delicious, as usual, and I don't know if someone new is in the kitchen but fries were nice and crispy, cooked perfectly, not soggy at all! Our waitress, Brandi, was super friendly, kept our cups full and made sure we had the best experience possible! Even though it was late, she was smiling and looked she was having fun even at work! She is a keeper! Southside is definitely the best side! Anonymous read more

I was visiting from out of town and a local recommended this place. Wow! it was good. I was looking for something simple, but ended up ordering their Reuben sandwich which is one of the best that I have had... ever! I want to go back! This place is way more than sandwiches, so don't let my Reuben stop you. I almost went for a fish platter. read more

I've eaten here for 20 years and always loved every bite. Great service and friendly too.

Having just moved to the Northshore , previously from Westbank, I picked this place for my birthday dinner. There were 6 of us on a busy Sunday. We joined the waitlist on our way to the restaurant and had a short wait when we arrived. All of us loved what we ordered! Sunday is the only day they do breakfast food too, so I ordered the breakfast bowl. Really simple, but really really good! Our waitress was AMAZING. She even humored my 90 yr old grandma when she complained about the celery being too stringy. Hee hee. Afterwards, my son and I played giant Jenga outside and had a blast. It was a really nice time and I will definitely be going there again! read more

Southside Cafe - American Near Me - Slidell, Louisiana

Two words. Sonic burger. Actually...probably would have preferred a Sonic burger over the brisket burger we ordered. Asked for it to be cooked medium. Came out well done. No flavor. Buffalo chicken sandwich was strange as the Buffalo sauce was made with a BBQ base. Very thick and no flavour. The chicken itself was also very dry as it was overcooked. Both sandwiches came out with no sides which is a disappointment. The rest of our table's food was bland and lacked any flavour. The alcohol and service was good though. read more

South side Cafe is ALWAYS SO DELICIOUS!! From a salad to a gourmet steak, you WILL BE SATISFIED. Men grab ya wives and ya kids and go have some great food while you watch the games! This restaurant is clearly a community-centered establishment, as the wait staff seemed to be very personable with regulars. However, my family and I felt very special, for the staff was great, and our waiter was extremely attentive to our needs. I have traveled to New Orleans often over the past 20 years, but this was my first visit to Southside Cafe. I believe I have found a new go-to restaurant! read more

As usual, food and service exceptional. Have never had a bad experience there. Recommend highly.

We were in Slidell on a work trip looking for good places to eat. After reading the great reviews on this place we decided to give it a try. All of the food was so incredibly heavy. And the portions were beyond huge. It made me feel queasy after eating a small amount. I'm not super picky about this usually but the atmosphere and lighting is unpleasant as well. Something about the lighting hurts your eyes and head. And to top things off, when I got about halfway done with my drink, I realized there was an empty sweet n low packet floating in the cup. I didn't use a sweet n low. But on the plus side, our waitress was absolutely lovely and very attentive. The burgers looked like they could be ok but not worth finding out in my opinion. read more

What a wonderful treat. The food was delicious. We had a large group of 13 that was quickly accommodated. Our waitress , Gabby, did a phenominal job!! She was fast, friendly and efficient. She was able to get all 13 orders with apps correct. We had seperate tickets and she was not flustered or annoyed. She made the experience exceptional. read more
