One of our hometown favorites! Great selection... too many delicious items to even start to recommend. ALL of their sandwiches are delicious, Ponchartrain Pig one of my favorites. Irish Channel awesome! Friendly staff... waiters are consistently great/professional/fast. Atmosphere is fun but does get pretty cranked up and loud after say, 7pm. Great bar and bartenders too! read more

Casual dining. Large menu, good drinks, nice wait staff. Muffalatta's are delicious! Bar area is usually packed but the bartenders keep up. Sports TV ' always have local teams playing. Fun, lively crowd. read more

Love the food here. Very personable atmosphere here. If you're trying to go to a place and want to be known as a regular, this is your place! They have really good food, the onion soup and anything seafood are among my favorites! The place is updated, not as big as you'd think and not as many TVs as you'd expect to call it a sports bar, but it's a good place to get a little bit of everything! read more

Our school group of ladies went for our monthly dinner last night and I was pleasantly surprised. I had remembered it being a sandwich place from years ago, but lots more than just sandwiches. Very large menu with lots to choose from. I ordered the daily special, spaghetti and meatballs. It was delicious! Large portions. The server was very helpful and friendly. There were 13 of us and our server, Gabby, was excellent! Would highly recommend if you're looking for a casual place, reasonable prices, good food and service. read more

One of the best Reuben's I have eaten anywhere in the country. We stopped in for lunch on our way home out of NOLA. The two bartenders were exceptionally nice and helpful. So many fries in one order, they should be listed by the pound. One order is plenty for two people. We will definitely stop there again if we head out that way. read more

Wow wow wow with a side of YES PLEASE! Stopped into Southside Cafe on a recommendation from a friend, so I had no idea what to expect. This was my first time in Louisiana, and I already thought I'd died in the torrential downpour. I entered Southside sopping wet hungry enough to eat my own limbs. I was literally chewing on my arm when the waitress seated me. Anyhow, the food delicious. For appetizers we had the crawfish balls which was enough to hold us over for the main meals. I had the fried oyster muffaletta and my buddy got the salmon. Pro tip: unless you're name is Paul Bunyan, get the half order of the muffaletta. To top it off, this place must have been started by a veteran because there is military memorabilia on every square inch of the walls. What a gem of the place read more

The story of the restaurant is amazing! Unfortunately, our server was less than interested in us. She never gave her name and rarely stayed at the table long enough for us to request anything. Being from out of town, we hoped for a local experience. Both my husband and I felt more like outcasts as everyone obviously knew each other. The food was mediocre and needed salt. The kids burger and chicken strip meal was nice and big though so that was a win. I would not go again if I was driving through the area. Such a shame as it seemed to present itself as a great local place with delicious food. read more

Delicious and great service! We felt very comfortable in the down home restaurant. Great stop!

This place was jam packed at lunch hour and I know why now! If you can get past the loud noise of the hustle and bustle of a big restaurant, and love seafood then this place is for u! I had the Irish channel gumbo and it was so awesome. They put potato salad in the middle of two different gumbo types. One of them being seafood the other being chicken. Let me tell you it was a clever way to let you sample both gumbos and the sizing was awesome! It was just the right amount of food! I also ordered macaroni and cheese as a side and added chilli to it and omg it was awesome! The other people in my party also had a shrimp poboy and another Irish channel gumbo and they both loved it as much as I do! Docking one star for the noise. By the way, our waitress was on point. She was working hard and you could tell. Kudos to her! read more

Savory food! It was a great experience and I plan on returning the next time I'm down that way. Semper Fidelis!

Great food with a very large variety to chose from. We had to wait 30 minutes to be seated but we were able to get our drinks before we were seated. Our waiter was great and with it being as busy as it was he was still at our table multiple times checking on us. read more

This place is a sweet little cafe that has wonderful food 100% recommend this to anyone trying to find a nice meal

amazing food and service the only down side is it is very loud and hard to converse with each other

Southside cafe is probably my favorite restaurant i visited while in town. We came in from New Orleans on the Cajun Encounter tour - and decided to eat somewhere in town. There is ample seating and no wait even tho we visited during prime time lunch. I decided to get the muffuletta. I was nervous to try it but I'm so happy i did! To start: i HATE olives. But the flavor of the olives in the original muffuletta brings the entire sandwich together. The shrimp muffuletta was really disappointing. The shrimp itself was good but with the bread and lettuce it seemed DRY. Be warned that the sandwiches are HUGE. I thought it would be a normal sandwich size... it is not. Even the "half" sizes are more than enough for two people to share. The only thing i will say is the sandwich does not include fries or any sort of side, so if you're interested in that you'll have to get it separately. T read more

So....we ain't in Florida anymore! We're in Cajun country! We were recommended Southside Cafe from our neighbors. Having just moved here to the area we were anxious to try out some local places to eat. We've eaten here twice now in one week. Once inside despite Covid still lurking around...and the place was fairly packed and once by takeout...You can say we're hooked! Ok...ok...get to the good part, the food. Super happy I can have Gumbo any damn time I want now and just like my mom and dad used to make (). The wife after deciding on two different choices suddenly spit out "shrimp po' boy". Our server was super cute and friendly and very accommodating. We had zero complaints left full, happy, and with 1/2 a po' boy. Two days later we got take-out. Another po' boy obviously and I got (a whole) seafood muffaletta. It looked like a giant hamburger when I first opened it up! But boy oh boy was it delicious and fed us for a couple of meals!! Enjoy the mouth-watering pics! read more

My family and I decided to come here after our swamp tour in Slidell, LA. We waited for about 15-20 minutes. However, the hostess was friendly and kept us informed of our table status. Once our table was ready, we were seated and greeted by our waiter Kai. Kai was super friendly and helped us a lot. The food we ordered were pretty tasty. We were lucky to come on a day they had $4 appetizers. The entrees were good..unfortunately they ran out of white gravy for the chicken fried steaks. However, I enjoyed the Mac and cheese and chicken and sausage gumbo! The apps of fried mushrooms, onion strings, and chili cheese fries-all spectacular! read more

Not for me. The waitress was nice but the food wasn't what I expected it to be. I heard good things about this place but not my favorite.

When I first step into Southside im immediately thinking about how lively the place is there will never not be people everywhere and not to mention the aesthetic of the place every time you go in you look at all the signs and pictures they have on the walls it really pulls you in for the great food they have there not to mention the waiters and waitresses they really make you feel like their your friend or someone you swear you've known before then the food comes and let me tell you everything they make there is so delicious and savory they really put there heart into the food they make. read more

Asking around to some locals they recommended this spot. I normally do not do this but thought gotta live a little. I asked the server what she recommended. Straight away I got the answer no one who asked that question wants to get, "Tuna". Having worked in kitchens for many years I know it takes a bit of knowledge to nail the perfect tuna dish. So I hesitated as images of failed dishes had in the past run through my mind. But the words still came out, "I'll take the tuna blackened." WOW!!!!!! I would take that tuna dish over any steak I've had in the last 5 years. It was just that good! Then I couldn't help myself and ask the server what she recommended for desert since this lady was after my heart at this point. She said the bread pudding. Mind you, I landed in the NOLA area getting bread pudding at every spot we stopped. Even went to the highly suggested spot about a mile away, I was as you can put it bread pudded OUT but she got me this far and it would be disrespectful not to take her suggestion. BLOWN AWAY!!!!! Bread pudding was amazing! 10 out of 10 My only regret was not going here earlier during our visit. read more
