Food and service is amazing! We made sure we stopped here for lunch on our way to New Orleans!

We sat at the bar and ordered a burger and the Ruben. They were both good the drinks were even better and I'm pretty sure our bartender was drunk and def hooked our drinks up. lol so def go for the drinks and stay for the food. read more

It's my first time to visit this town of Slidell so I checked Yelp and saw great reviews. I guess I'm too spoiled for having a good meal especially seafood in Hawaii and in SanDiego So here's my food trip experience here at Southside cafe l, The first one I ordered was recommended by my server, she said the tuna fish grill was very good but when I tried to cut it was very tough! The texture was microwaved fish and when I started eating the fish it's so rubbery!!! So I had to exchange it and get the blackened catfish which is better because I can actually cut it and it's a lot softer that the tuna fish. But there's nothing special about it at all The flavor was just okay. The one that I enjoyed was the spinach dip and their nachos were very good. My curiosity takes me there because of the reviews and their slogan it says " A Slidell Tradition since 1991" so it's 30 Yrs old restaurant already. I guess I need to check other menu :-) Anyway! Thanks for a good service and maybe I will comeback again to give another dish a try :-) read more

We brought our out of town family here for dinner the night before our wedding & had a phenomenal experience. There was 11 of us on a Friday night. We used the Yelp Waiting List & were able to get in & seated within minutes of arriving even though the place was packed. Service was amazing, food came out fast & hot. All in all a great time was had by everyone - will definitely be back! read more

It's a good stopping point if you are driving through the state. It's a bit noisy in the main room, but there are off side tables that are quieter. It includes a menu of lots of FRIED foods. And they are descent. I ordered an appetizer of the mushrooms stuffed with crab meat and since I have lived in Baltimore, I know better. They were not very good and I ended up leaving most. Excellent burgers and string onion rings. read more

Everything about Southside is great. It's a bit noisy, but that adds to the experience.

Amazing food and service. Always an enjoyable experience when we dine here. Nice and cozy atmosphere as well.

This has to be the most popular restaurant in Slidell. It is always packed for lunch and dinner. The food is consistently great and the bartenders are generous with the pours. My favorite time to come here is before a parade during Mardi Gras. The atmosphere is just so fun all of the time but especially during Carnival. While the food and atmosphere are great, the service is definitely hit or miss. I was here recently with a friend who ordered water without lemon and the waitress brought water WITH a lemon wedge. The same visit when the bill came it turned out to be for a different table. It was also pretty hard to get her attention when we needed something. I understand that they're usually busy, but poor service takes away from the experience. Also keep in mind that this restaurant is extremely loud. Carrying on a conversation is almost impossible without practically yelling. read more

If I owned a restaurant, I suspect it would be a lot like Southside Café. You see, I am a dude that loves good food, beer and guns. Southside somehow combines all three. The food Southside's menu is traditional American fare. We started with an order of chili cheese fries which were very good. I am normally not a fan of chili on fries, but theirs was subtle enough that it didn't overpower the dish. I could discuss the finer point of cheese fries all day, but I'll move on to my entrée. Thanks to my Yelp buddy Teneha, I went with the rib eye steak sandwich. It was very good. Most places don't offer actual steak on a sandwich unless you're getting a Philly so this version was extra special. Another plus is that they will cook it to order. If you like steak sandwiches, get this sandwich. The beer While not the most expansive list I've ever seen, Southside had a respectable selection of beers which included Guinness. The guns I think he owner is a veteran of the Vietnam War. Tributes to troops were prominently displayed as well as several very cool guns. I spotted what looked like an M1 Garand, M14, M16 and a Thompson. Anytime I can drink beer, eat good food, and stare at guns, it is a good day. If you're in the Slidell area and want a good, casual meal, I encourage you to check out Southside Café. read more

Excellent food and friendly atmosphere. Servers were attentive and friendly. This is my 3rd or 4th time here and each time was amazing.

Tried the seafood platter for two. Well prepared, we ate the oysters and soft shelled crab for lunch. Took the shrimp and fish home and heated it on the air fryer. Both meals were excellent. Catch the sign on the entrance. read more

Dropped in to watch one of the Wild Card games and felt right at home, as soon as I walked in. It had the feel of the local, hometown pub - lots of people in and out, friendly and efficient staff - lots of energy in the room. Ordered the Reuben - definitely a home run. But the Onion Rings/Strings? Fantastic. They were perfectly cooked and seasoned. It came with a sauce but I thought adding anything to these little wonders would have been an insult. Don't pass these up - I don't care what diet you're on. read more

Southside Cafe - Bread "to die for" pudding!! - American Near Me - Slidell, Louisiana

This has to be the most popular/busiest restaurant in Slidell as every time I have been, it's packed. Luckily, I don't think I've ever waited too long for a table. Now the name is a little bit of a misnomer because it's definitely more of a bar and grill than a "cafe". You won't be sitting with a book in a quiet corner while sipping a latte. Southside has a a huge menu! There are15 + apps, 6 soups, 5-6 salads, 20+ po-boys, 20 plus other sammiches and burgers. Hell, 6 different chicken sammiches alone! Plus they have a bunch of other entrees that include pork chops, salmon, chicken, seafood platters and more. I've eaten the burgers, grilled chicken and tuna and all have been really good. Their beer menu is basically a lot of domestics with a few micro-brews but nothing too daring. There's still a big enough of a selection to find something cold to wash down the meal. The only thing bad about Southside (if you consider it bad) is that it is loud. It's a fun place to hangout and have a beer but I don't think I'd bring a first date because you'd never hear them. You can bring your nagging wife though, so you don't have to hear her. read more

The food here is bangin. The reuben is so so delicious and same with the muffulettas they serve. And their calamari, it's amazing. The atmosphere is quite loud and busy, but it's not too overwhelming. (But I suppose that varies person to person). read more

We just ordered sandwiches chicken and veal parmigiana. Oh my it was so delicious, both pieces of meat juicy, tasty, and done to perfection. Originally I'm from the S Philly area and the gravy on the meat wasn't Italian like I'm use to, but theirs complimented the sandwich! Plus adding lettuce and tomorrow made it into a super meal. Topping it off with slices of pickles. Too full to eat anymore we are taking our bread pudding to go. We will definitely be coming back! What a great waitress Sophia was. A great bubbly personality plus, and she knows how to cater to the customer. SOPHIA got thank you read more

Ok, we are on our way back home and decided to stop for lunch. I found this place and we decided to give it a try. Man, the portions are humongous! You will not leave hungry. We had the wings and the seafood platter. The wings are meaty and not over cooked. The #2 sauce has just the right amount of heat and flavor. The seafood platter has catfish, fried oysters, soft shell crab, hush puppies, fries and shrimp. It is enough for 4 people. They do a great job of frying all these items to perfection. The coleslaw is very good also. It has just the right amount of seasoning and fresh cabbage. Our server Mattie was excellent. She was very polite and eager to serve. She made sure we had everything we needed for a great dining experience. If you are on your way to New Orleans, stop here first for a great meal. read more

Had lunch here today and it was great ! We started off with a cup of chicken & sausage gumbo and it was good, not the best ever in my life but it was good. Then we had the Killa fries which are french fry's smothered in chili, cheddar cheese and topped with jalapeño peppers ( ranch sauce ) for dipping and a side of onion straws came with a remulade sauce. Both sides were really yummy ! Then I had the roast beef poboy fully dressed add American cheese and I had them put the debris brown gravy on the side for dipping. It was DELICIOUS !! My hubby had the muffuletta and it was super fresh and delicious as well. Our waiter was fantastic ! We will be back ! read more

Great service! Always packed when I go there. They have so many options to choose from! The French Dip sandwich was delicious!

Ooooo these red beans and rice are delicious! Even better the next morning. The portion would have been enough to feed at least two people. Got the stuffed artichoke as well and that overfilled flower of a vegetable was devoured as well. Service was a little slower than I would have liked, but the ambiance was a relaxer. A lot of military related decorations, my table had the marine insignia! read more
