It's a food trailer.....to be clear. My wife and I go to Pappa's regularly.....this fried shrimp is leaps and bounds better. It's a true flour batter. Amazing. The fish is just OKAY. It's rubbery, maybe like they over fry the fish because they're thin pieces. The prices are decent I will say though. The customer service is HORRIBLE, my husband spoke to the guy who's normally working on the truck who I think is the owner and the guy didn't say anything at all. I know it's crawfish season right now, but if you're looking for the best catfish and shrimp in Humble - you HAVE to go to Southern Style Seafood! it's just a trailer at 4514 Atascocita Rd at Atascocita Meadows. The fried catfish is thin and clean tasting. So crunchy and no muddy taste at all. The shrimps are huge and they taste very much like shrimp. It's not like some of the shrimp I've had before where you really don't get a shrimp flavor. It tastes shrimpy in a good way. They have something called cowboy bites. These are to Live for. They are a round fried hush puppy looking ball that is corn and cream cheese and jalapeños and they are delicious. . Even the hush puppies and the french fries are so good. The staff is super friendly. If you're a good tipper you get to ring the cowbell. Definitely worth taking a trip to and checking it out. They also cater. read more

Absolutely insane. Southern Style Seafood is a group of guys in a red food truck technically on Atascocita Road. My mom discovered them last week, my dad then brought some home and I was sent out a couple days later to get some more. We do the #7 with seven shrimp, seven pieces of fish, fries and hush puppies. We got three plates and had a free-for-all. The seafood is fried nicely, and while I personally like my fries with a little more crunch, you still can't help but devour them. You can call and order, or you can order from the menu on the window. They're in a parking lot, so you're able to park and wait as they'll yell out for you just before your food is packaged (so it's completely fresh from the grease). But they also have a tent to eat in. This was a Friday, so the area was jam-packed, with food moving quickly. I literally just ate the last three pieces of fish cold from my refrigerator. You might have passed by this place a few times while driving on Atascocita, but once you eat here the red trailer and and yellow sign will stick in your head. My mother took me by this place a few years and raved about how fresh the seafood is and how well they cooked the meals. Skeptical me was like, "Alright, Mom let's make this drive and see what you are talking about". Years later, I come back to Houston and the food is just as good if not better and the gentleman who own the establishment still love what they do. Be forewarned, the food is so good that you want to take a bite as soon as you are handed your food container. Learn from my mistake...Do Not Do It!!! I made an impromptu decision to take a small bite of catfish fillet as soon as I was handed my container and it stuck to the side of my tooth near my gum line and caused a 2nd degree burn. I braved through the pain, but in hindsight, yeah, I should have waited or opened the container to let the food cool down some more. The people are extreme kind always . The shrimp Is amazing . The fried fish to me taste like eggs a bit like maybe the dip in eggs before frying. I also recently tried the gumbo . They let you sample before buying but it was just the roux which wasn't bad . Upon getting home and actually trying the gumbo it was almost like some kind of shredded meat or something I'm not sure but I wasn't feeling the overall flavor or texture of the gumbo. They had some of the best fried shrimp I've ever tasted. I normally get grilled. My mom got the smallest fried catfish plate. They were super thin and she said they were good but not the best she's had (we take her to get catfish at least twice a week) lol. The portion sizes were great with a lot of fries. They do have different amounts you can purchase. We got there and was the first in line. By the time we left 3 more people had come. My only complaint is that portions are on the small side, other than the fries which, although good, were just filler to me. It's like fried rice at a banquet, which you'll notice always comes out as the last course to fill you up in case you didn't get your fill. We ordered the small combo to get a sampling of both the shrimp and fish. Fish was great and lightly breaded. Shrimp had a heavier batter, but was fresh and crunchy. Hush puppies were good too. Owners were nice and they even threw in a couple of cowboy bites for us to try. Even though I couldn't really taste the bacon or jalapeños, I liked them. I finally came to this food trailer on a day I couldn't decide where to eat. I ordered the large shrimp plate which has 8 shrimp, fries and 2 hush puppies. They were only serving 1 type of hush puppy, and I don't think it was the creamed corn version Alan S. was mentioning, just the standard homemade hushpuppy with corn pieces in it. But they're still homemade so you cant complain too much. The crinkle cut fries are just that...nothing really special there. For sides or apps, they also have cowboy bites (bacon wrapped stuffed jalapenos), which sounded good, but I didn't order them. The fried shrimp was the star of my meal. They were big, tasted pretty fresh, unlike most other places or food trucks. The breading is really good on them and the prices for all their meals are just hard to beat too. We ordered the $45 family pack that came with fried catfish (that wasn't too breaded, more like panko), fried shrimp (that were super flavorful), hush puppies (that were absolute perfection), and crinkle cut fries. We also ordered the boudin, fried mushrooms, and cowboy balls. The winner of all was the Cowboy Balls--corn, bacon, jalapeño, & cheese breaded into a ball and fried. Yummo!! And the food came out pretty quick as well. The guys in the truck were great as well--answered all of our questions patiently and got our food out in 8 minutes flat! I love this spot! The crave their shrimp at least once a week. Especially when they fried hard. The shrimp are nice sizes so you don't be disappointed. The boudin balls are also good as well. My girlfriend ask for those every time we come by. The okra is some of the best okra I ever had! This was the first time I had the gumbo and it wasn't bad. The chicharron, the order was so big it filled a gallon ziplock. I still have some leftover today (Sunday) as I bought them on Thursday. Still crispy and crunchy.
