Upon reaching the steam table their digital display still had the previous days entrees, so I had to wait to get up to the counter to see the selection for the day which consists of 6-7 entrees. With the regular meals, you receive an entree, 2 sides, rice and cornbread. They offer tea, Pepsi products and for alcohol, it's beer, wine and daiquiris. They have loud r&b music playing in the background. I chose the "red" meatloaf (they have brown or red sauce), collards and Mac n cheese. Keep in mind they serve your food and drinks in to go packaging, regardless of whether you dine in, or get it to go. Food portions are large too. The meatloaf portion I received was large, delicious and juicy. The slice was around 2 inches thick. The mac n cheese was good, and actually ended up being my favorite item. The collards are pretty typical with a lot of vinegar and cooked for a long time. Below the meatloaf was a base of white rice and brown gravy which is basically a filler. You receive 2 cornbread muffins, which I don't really eat but I ate a couple bites and they are pretty sweet. The owner/manager was friendly and greeted me while in line, stopped by my table to check on me, and even said goodbye as I was leaving.

Then 3 more of our group we hadn't expected arrived and the hostess quickly let the servers know to make our table larger. We only had to wait 8 or 9 minutes and were seated in the side dining room which was great as it was not crowded so it was easy to talk without a lot of ambient noise from the more crowded main room. I believe one of the assistant managers began taking drink orders as our designated server was finishing up some tables nearby. She had a great sense of humor and quickly went to get our drinks. FYI, they have both an All Day menu and a lunch special one which we hadn't seen before a their website so that is an option and is a bit less expensive with smaller servings than the All Day one. As it was April 15, they had a special small Tax Day menu where everything was prices at $4.15! What a cute idea! We all ordered our lunches and soon we were enjoying what was brought out. I had the special lentil soup and the blackened salmon tacos, my wife had the 1/2 lb classic burger and the house made potato chips. Everything was excellent. Glad we stopped by for our group lunch.

Everything was seasoned to perfection! The service was also professional, a huge plus. From the moment you walk in, it gives a homey feeling/atmosphere. There's plenty of seating and it's pretty spacious. They also have a huge menu, everything sounds delicious. Anytime we're in the mood for soul food or some real homestyle-like cooking - we'll be at Granny Dee's for sure!
