A great place for lunch with a group of friends! We are part of a group of friends who are mostly retired and enjoy dining out for lunch as a group once a month. We try to support local Kingwood are restaurants and hadn't been to Union Kitchen in quite a while. We arrived and asked for a table for 6, the dining room was busy so they said it would be a few minutes. Then 3 more of our group we hadn't expected arrived and the hostess quickly let the servers know to make our table larger. We only had to wait 8 or 9 minutes and were seated in the side dining room which was great as it was not crowded so it was easy to talk without a lot of ambient noise from the more crowded main room. I believe one of the assistant managers began taking drink orders as our designated server was finishing up some tables nearby. She had a great sense of humor and quickly went to get our drinks. FYI, they have both an All Day menu and a lunch special one which we hadn't seen before a their website so that is an option and is a bit less expensive with smaller servings than the All Day one. As it was April 15, they had a special small Tax Day menu where everything was prices at $4.15! What a cute idea! We all ordered our lunches and soon we were enjoying what was brought out. I had the special lentil soup and the blackened salmon tacos, my wife had the 1/2 lb classic burger and the house made potato chips. Everything was excellent. We just had dinner at the Union Kitchen in Kingwood, Tx. Super conveniently located close to our hotel, the La Quinta. We saw it online and loved the vast menu selection so we thought we'd give it a try. From the exterior, it doesn't look like much almost looks like you could be walking into a craft store or a boot barn cause it's just in a shopping mall strip center. But once you enter inside, the dark wood, the wine bottles, the lighting all creates a very nice ambience of an upscale restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised. We were just grabbing a bite to eat before a movie and this place turned out to be much nicer than me. I previously anticipated. We decided to order off of the Happy Hour menu so that we could try several things. We got the queso dip of course...because, when in Texas...We also got the crabcakes and a cheeseburger with truffle fries. They had some great drink specials, but we got ice tea instead. That was plenty of food for two of us to share. Out of the three items that we ordered off the Happy Hour menu, I would say the cheesburger was the best! The bun was small enough to not be overwhelming and the meat had a very nice barbecue taste. The crabcakes were OK as was the queso. Our waiter gave excellent service! Can't remember his name, but he was tall and I believe had dirty blonde hair. The entire meal was super yummy with excellent service and convenient. Couldn't ask for more. We definitely recommend this place. We wanted to get beignets for dessert, but we were too full to order anything else. Oh and if you go at Happy Hour, even if you're not drinking, everything on the Happy Hour menu is 50% off. Check it out! read more

The union kitchen experience was an Old Fashioned dinner one. The core was very comfortable not too modern. The staff was friendly and helpful. The food did surprise me aside from looking very simple it had such great punch of flavor. I ended up having the blackened fish with mashed potatoes and asparagus which was perfectly combined yet very simple looking. The half sweet unsweet tea was absolutely perfect it really gave the South Justice for tea. Overall I don't know if I would come back, I'm not a big steak eater but the steak did look great. My coworkers went to lunch at Union kitchen so I sent my order. I had the Union kitchen burger, truffle fries and Oreo cheesecake. This burger is so good. It has onion rings, bacon and a nice juicy patty. I like mine medium well so it was perfect when I got it and also reheated well as I had a few bites leftover. The truffle fries are also very good. They didn't have as much oil on them today but still very good. The Oreo cheesecake was good, nice sized slice and had fresh strawberries and blueberries on top. It also had a drizzle of chocolate sauce. I was very happy with my meal today. read more

First time visit and I have to say it won't be the last. The ambiance was great and our waitress was very friendly and attentive but not overly attentive to where it became annoying. We had brunch and I got the biscuits and gravy with a side a sausage which came out luke warm but it was edible. I'm glad I got the side of sausage because the gravy really didn't have much in it. It's been a couple of weeks and I still think k of those waffles. So worth going back for. Forget what my friend ordered. I ate some (but those waffles have my heart!) We recently held our departmental Christmas soiree at The Union Kitchen in Kingwood, and it was truly an exceptional experience from start to finish. From the moment I booked the event, Nadia was absolutely amazing. She was attentive, organized, and genuinely invested in making our night special. She assembled the perfect team, ensured we had a fully secluded private dining room, and created an atmosphere where our group could relax and enjoy one another without interruption. Her team qput up a festive Christmas balloon arch, which made the space feel personal and celebratory. Our team had an incredible time mingling, laughing, and hosting a White Elephant gift exchange, all made easy by the layout and privacy of the room. The privatized bar was a huge hit, and Nadia worked closely with me to curate both the menu and bar options in a way that stayed within our budget while still offering great variety. Everyone was well fed, happy, and impressed with the selection of food and drinks. If you're looking for a venue that delivers excellent service, thoughtful planning, and a memorable private dining experience, I can't recommend The Union Kitchen in Kingwood--and Nadia--highly enough. This was our 2nd time dining. It will be our last. The 1st thing I remembered was the musty smell by the front door. Also, the place is so dark, it feels like you're in a cave. As we were seated, the server brought menus. We ordered. The drinks were fine. My husband had a Margarita and I had the Old Fashion. We got the fried calamari. There was too much stuff on the top of it, made the calamari mushy. I ordered the Pistachio Chicken. It had no taste whatsoever. The chicken had no seasoning, the pasta tasted bland. It was a waste, I took maybe 3 bites and couldn't eat anymore. I took it home thinking I could add some flavor to it, wound up throwing it out. We got the chocolate cake to go. Food was awful. My husband and I ordered the crispy crab cake Benedict. The crab cakes were absolutely not crispy, seared or anything as delightful as that. They did, however, taste and feel like moist cat food. Really pretty awful stuff. Worst crab cakes I've ever had. Hollandaise sauce was tasteless. The potato wedges were just like fast food, nothing special. They did a decent job on the poached egg was the best I could give. The atmosphere would have been fine except for the pounding music coming from the kitchen that competed with the dining music and made it hard to hear each other. We were in town for a funeral and staying in a hotel nearby. We wanted just a little something. This restaurant was highly rated on Yelp and was open on a Monday night. We had a very animated and positive waiter. We decided on the daily featured pizza (prime rib) and salads (pizza came with one, we ordered a second). The dough for the pizza was excellent! The topping was plentiful, but not so overwhelming that the crust got gooey. Prices were reasonable. It was kind of quiet on a Monday night. Only a handful of tables occupied in the dining room, but there were a few folks in the bar watching Monday Night Football. The restaurant is in a shopping plaza along the highway, so plenty of parking. I would go there again if in the area. read more

So this was supposed to be a brunch idea last minute and somewhere new I wanted to try glad I tried it because the inside was definitely like like a dressy laid-back type of vibe. The food was hiding fresh when he came out. It definitely was tasty all you need it was a little bit of salt. Great Experience overall. We called to check and see what time they closed. Young lady on phone was very helpful and once we arrived we were welcomed in to a very amazing atmosphere full of happy faces. We were promptly seated and offered drinks. Service was very smooth fast and professional. It was six of us in our party and everything was amazing. Only one minor takeaway from this was please talk it over with the chef. The truffle fries were not it( very soft fries, very very light truffle flavor to the point of not tasting it, no Parmesan or Parsley . We did talk to our server about it. He retrieve them to bring out some fresh, but what we received were the same ones that seemed to have been microwaved. Other than that everything was great and definitely will go back. Not going to let one little incident stop us. But next time I go I'd love to see the truffle fries executed properly. read more

The menu is solid and the atmosphere is great for relaxing if you're not in a rush. Service tends to be on the slower side, even when you're seated near the kitchen. That said, the staff is friendly, kind, and usually gets the order right, which helps balance things out. read more

This is my 2nd time to eat here and I will tell you the first time was horrible because of the service/waiter. 12/2/25 at 12:49 I met my two friends for lunch. I wasn't aware they had a really good lunch menu full of wonderful foods. Eddie was our server and he was great! Very professional but with a good sense of play! So many things are wrong here from poorly executed and unpleasant food and service, to things being forgotten, to the broken glassware we were given. Server just kept it moving like the issues are typical everyday. One of the worst experiences we have had. They offered us a free appetizer for when we come back. Whew! This little unassuming establishment served up delicious eats and amazing service! We've passed up the spot frequently, and frankly, I didn't think twice about stopping. BUT I saw a social media post about their Kids Eat Free (June/July) promotion and decided to give it a try. Now, let's get to it! 1. We were able to make reservations on their website, which was a plus! We walked right in to our table. The hostesses were friendly and greeted us promptly! 2. Sitting area was a little tight, but hey, it felt like we were all at the dining table together. Dimly lit and Quaint touch with white table cloths. 3. Our server, Tyler, was exceptional in recommending dishes and serving our large family of 6. 4. The children's portions of meals were huge compared to other establishments. Does not come with a drink. 5. I'm not sure if the food was super delish or if I was so impressed that it tricked my taste buds. The food was decent though. We had the brunch steak, chicken fried chicken meal, kids pizza, and kids chicken and waffles. The chicken fried steak batter was perfect, but I could've done without the cheese and jalapeños. Steak was a little tough, but we're tough critics, it isn't a steakhouse. Everything else was excellent! I'm giving this establishment a 5/5. After attending The Kingwood Pops Orchestra performance yesterday afternoon, we had dinner at this amazing restaurant. Overall everything was outstanding for our group: service was excellent and attentive; ambiance was casual and relaxing and the taste and quality of everyones food was delicious. One of my all time favorite restaurants disappointed me yesterday. The Union Kitchen servers a great chicken piccata, and is my go to menu item. Yesterday, I had the dish and noticed that two nearby diners had the same item. The dish had very few capers in it, and did not have the same flavor and appeal that it is known for. I overheard the other diners nearby stating their disappointment in the dish. The. waiter was prompt, taking our order, serving the meal, clearing the table, then disappeared for over ten minute without bringing our bill. I finally had to flag down another employee to find the waiter and finally be able to leave. While I will return, I don't think I would order the chicken piccata in the future. read more

Saw the pictures of their food on yelp and looked amazing for their sandwiches! From the outside it looked like an American diner place. I been here, so why not walk in and check it out? Once I walked in it looked like the hostess looked disappointed to see me. To be honest, I was in casual attire (not anything undressed either) and immediately noticed how misleading their place is. Very fancy type environment on the inside, but not so nice from the outside. Very misleading. Got seated anyways, but no one came to the table to greet or even acknowledge us for a good 15-20 minutes. Decided to simply get up and leave as I did not feel welcomed in the environment. I would love to give an outstanding review but sadly I cannot. We have eaten at Union Kitchen for many years and even hosted private parties. At this price point and quality of restaurant, to not offer bread service is a huge strike. I remember in the past, people raving to others "you have to eat there even if just for the bread!" Unfortunately that went away, and now they no longer offer anything. This isn't Chili's. This should feel a little above that. Next, the decor needs a refreshing. Period. Wouldn't take much to update the asthetics. As far as the food, our appetizers, salads, and soup arrived about 2 minutes before our entrees were delivered. By the time we all got to our main course it was cold. Some of the food was good, about half was very very average. ... Again, for the price point, not acceptable. Come on Union Kitchen!! A few small changes and you could have folks lined up out the door. Kingwood needs you! read more
