I give two because the salad bar is good and the service was good. THE FOOD IS NOT GOOD. the fried shrimp is over cooked and tough. The chicken tacos have absolutely no flavor or seasoning. The quesadilla was like something we can cook at home with precooked chicken and flour tortillas ....and also no seasonings. Maybe the BBQ is good ....no idea. I really hate paying this $77 tab. This was my first time! My friends and I Tried the SPLENDORA CAFE & BBQ. Amazing. The entire waiting staff was friendly. Our server, WILLIAN, began by shaking my hand which was amazing! Manager, PEDRO recommended the best potato ever! Jasmine was such a polite host. AS A DIABETIC, I noticed the food was not overly salty nor crazy sweet. The bbq sauces were not overbearing. The butter is whipped and creamy. LARGE DRINK CUP WHICH IS A MUST! I had the peach cobbler and the crust was crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside WITH BLUE BELL ICE CREAM (it's the law) while, AGAIN, had the perfect sweetness for a diabetic like me. The potato I had offers choices of all the standard fixes but I loved the brisket. Lean or loose cut, the brisket BEAT other BBQ establishments near by. All in all, VIRGILIO ONLY DOES REVIEWS IF THE ESTABLISHMENTS ARE WORTH A REVIEW. What I like or dislike may not be same as others, so I make public a place that makes me go WOWWWWW! I know I have reviewed this place before but I can't find my review. The food here is great. I've had the burgers, the chicken breast with sides and the chicken fried steak. He recommended some of their most popular dishes which helped us decide what to get. They had a special for $50, an app, 2 dinners with 2 sides and salad bar each AND dessert! We started with the fried mushrooms, cooked fresh and with the perfect batter. I chose the catfish dinner and my husband got the brisket plate. It was soooo much food and everything came out hot and tasty! Now for the finale, peach cobbler a la mode! At this point, I was stuffed and had only eaten one filet and partial sides but there was no way I was NOT eating this cobbler. It came out hot and with a generous portion of vanilla ice cream on top! We left no trace of ever having dessert by the time we got our check! 1st let's start with the décor. It is well done and very Texas, which is a plus! Not too cluttered but just right. The lighting is perfect and we had an excellent experience! 2nd thing is the staff. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a smile & quickly escorted to our booth. William was our server and did an great job of taking good care of us! He has a quick wit, which we loved the banter. 3rd point is the FOOD! It was Delicious!! The salad bar is a Spendora Café legend & it did not disappoint at this new location. I had the chicken fried steak which was seasoned perfectly & the mashed potatoes were so creamy & enticing. It was just absolutely delicious!!! Can't say enough good things about this restaurant & I am happy they expanded & are doing so well. Can we have a rewards punch card????? I would make the 30 minute drive more often for sure! The family ownership, management and staff members go over the moon to assist, satisfy and please their customers. The smallest blip in any business can destroy their customer's trust, hence their business. My family have eaten in the cafe for a couple of years or by their 'Doordash' delivery service this past year. We have always been satisfied and rewarded by their delicious food, cooked perfectly and delivered hot and warm to us for our dining experience. We have eaten many different items on the menu with always delicious food and great service. Lately, we have had to order in these great meals delivered. Their service is always great with the customer's needs being their primary goal. When we were dining in, we were never surprised by the cafe being full of patrons, with hungry customers waiting at the door to be seated. We just knew when it was the best time for us to dine. This experience was always filled by satisfied customers as we were. The atmosphere of the Cafe was always fresh, clean and ample seating space at certain times of the day. Our experience this past week was greatly highlighted by the owner and management, with their customer service. I want to praise Manager Pedro with his kindness and professionalism. Thank you Pedro! Our 6 piece Fried Fish and Chicken Fried Steak dinner was delivered, hot and was perfectly prepared. As always, the potion size was huge which fed us for two meals each. Based on just what I've seen on this site, I am confident this is one of the very last of the TX diners left in Southeast Texas! I am a connoisseur of old TX diners and so insisted on diner meals for the entire tournament (breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, snack, midnight snack) each and every weekend we Royals played nationally ranked softball in middle /high school! But, hey: in all fairness, we were playing 5 games/day for 4 days in a row, every fucking week!...Go, Spring-Klein Royals: stuff yer faces while you can so ya don't forfeit the game! It was a bit busy on a Sunday after church but they got us right to a table. We he good was tasty and served in a timely manner. My Mom enjoyed her chop beef sandwich. The chicken with dumplings is excellent. Just like grandma used to make. It comes in small medium and large and the large is huge! Brisket was a medium smoke with a nice crust. Dessert was their absolutely fabulous banana pudding. Again homemade and wondeful. Service was prompt with very sweet servers. We will be back. read more

When thinking quality- it's about the same as a school cafeteria. They do not know how to sub a salad, so they charge full price extra if you are not wanting fried food. The sides are basic, not good. Honestly I have no clue how this dump stays in business. Poor management. No beer selection. Be warned- do NOT order the buffalo chicken bites. They are basically the discarded bits, breaded and fried, with subpar sauce. read more

I never thought I would meet an onion ring I didn't like, but these onion rings are flavorless. The chicken was the same. I tried to add sauces but couldn't salvage it. My friend got chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and green beans. He said the same about his food. The steak was tough, the batter was flavorless. The potatoes and green beans were just sad. The beans tasted like they opened the can and served those without adding any seasonings. I wanted to like this place but we left most of our food on the plate and won't be back. read more
