I wanted to love everything about Southern Fire kitchen but the service/hostess staff didn't meet the mark for me. Before arriving a had used the Yelp option to add my name to the waitlist while driving there. While driving I was removed from the waitlist (by the staff) then added back. Once I got there according to my text my table was ready. The hostess at door said the table wasn't and I had to be added to the waitlist again and wait another 45 mins. I will say I was a little frustrated but I waited patiently. (So a word of advice just don't use the Yelp app to get on the waitlist just do it once you arrive). The restaurant it self is not that big inside so once I entered I understood why the wait was so long. It was a cute spot though music was 90s r&b, it was a nice vibe for sure. The food was delicious. As far as food goes there was nothing that was not good. We all loved our food. I'll attach some pictures of what was ordered. I come to ATL often and I am always trying new spots. I was in the mood for soul food, and I came across this spot. I came across the reviews and tiktoks, and I was prepared for the wait but I was not expecting to wait that long. I wish security would have explained that we could've sat at the bar because I would've opted for that for that to be seated sooner. The waitlist process was disorganized at best, but we move. Once inside, the place is nicely decorated with warm lighting. It is very small, hence the wait, but I didn't feel like people were sitting on top of me. The customer service was just okay to me. The staff that I interacted with weren't rude or nasty but they also weren't very pleasant. As for as my drink, I opted for the Strawberry Lemon Drop. It was good, and I liked how they had tons of options for flavors. The fried lobster appetizer was good, but very salty in my opinion. For my meal I had the fried chicken, with mac and collard greens. The mac and collard greens were a solid 9/10. The chicken although the flavor potential was there it was overpowered by saltiness and oil. I feel like the oil needed to be changed and I could taste it in the chicken. That aside, it was really hard for me to get past the saltiness of the food. I know food in ATL can be heavy on the seasoning, but this was too much for me. For this to be a new restaurant in the city, I have to say that this is one of the most delicious soul food places in the city. I have come many times and I've often wanted to keep this gym to myself as they are very small location and not very busy but now I just have to let someone know. As soon as they sit down, someone is there to greet you and get your drink orders. It is absolutely amazing how fast they are able to get to you without any confusion it speaks to how they operate during their training. I always get the catfish. It is something that I absolutely enjoy when I come, although I always say tell myself that I'm gonna try something different. The catfish is so amazing me and my friends are always in awe of how good it is inconsistently every single time that we come, they've got a recipe for it and it is absolutely amazing to try catfish when they come . The restaurant is very small yes however, it is very accommodating and for the size it does sit quite a few people without feeling so congested. I greatly appreciate the way they have their booth and table seated and gives you a lot of legroom and space if need to walk up to the bar or even to the bathroom without feeling like you have to squeeze in between anybody. I'm hoping that they decide to spread out and put locations all over Metro Atlanta and kind of spread out and get a bigger layout because this is a place I desperately want a little bit closer to Midtown however I will make the travel out to Brookhaven every single time. read more

There was security outside when we attended on a Thursday afternoon which was surprising because it was about 4 o'clock in the afternoon but I guess it's best to be safe than sorry. As soon as we walked in the ambience was delightful. The decoration lighting the pictures on the wall. Everything was amazing. They also have music playing not loud so it was great. The waiter was great giving us recommendations as this was our first time here so I did appreciate that. There was a little bit of construction going on in the restaurant in the basement I imagine because it sounded like loud banging, but we could not see where it was coming from which I definitely recommend that should be done after hours other than that. I have dined in this establishment twice. Each time the food was amazing. I ordered the turkey chops, Mac n cheese, yams, greens and cornbread. My fiancé ordered the friend whiting of which he also loved. The first time I ordered the frozen blueberry lemonade, it was delicious! My fiancé ordered the frozen blueberry margarita both times but each time they weren't "ready". On the second visit the waitress said they are usually ready around 5:30pm (they open at 4pm). We dined in at 5:30 and 4:30 respectively. Steven opted for the blueberry margarita on the rocks instead and both times he enjoyed them. He said they don't short you on the liquor! I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because both times we dined in, it was HOT. It felt like there was no ac. There was even a large industrial fan inside. For the amount of money you're spending, you'd want to be comfortable. Lastly, they are not kid friendly. They didn't have booster seats or high chairs so both times our experience was largely impacted by having to hold our toddler. I also took in consideration that both times my fiancé wasn't able to order a frozen cocktail due to them "not being ready". Food is outstanding. I've been coming here faithfully since. 2021 and I must say the food tastes better and better every time. On Sunday when I went I just got salmon bites okra and rice. Delicious. I usually get a whole meal like turkey chops or fried chicken are usually my go to. The sides are perfectly portioned. My favorite is macaroni cheese, collard greens, and okra. Oh, I almost forgot those candy yams 10/10 They honestly have the best soul food in Atlanta that I taste since I've been here. I'd give this place an 8/10 overall. The music was blaring. I asked if it could be turned down a bit, but they said that the volume was set. Also, I'm a great tipper, I normally give 20% being that I've worked in the service industry. Gratuity is based on service, we never got refills. She wasn't terrible but for auto grat, the service needs to be improved. Now on to the real meat and potatoes, we ordered the honey garlic wing sand they did not disappoint. So much so that we got our wing entree sauced. The lobster bites were really good, just wished there were more for the price. :-( The Mac were good, the potatoes were nice and buttery. The yams, oh the YAMS!!! 10/10!! The collards were also tasty, I just wished they had a bit more meat in them. My picky eating 5 yo had the steak bites and she ATE!! My son had the burger and couldn't finish it. He also said it was really good. He gave it a 9/10. Even though the food is very tasty and the drinks were amazing, I had issues with the customer service. The prices on the menu do not match what is in their system. On my bill and my friend's bill, we were overcharged according to their menu. A table next to us was very upset because they were not informed of the $5 soft drinks with no refills. I would not come here to eat. I would do takeout and check the bill for correct pricing because the food is really amazing. I hate it for this place because it has potential to be a great restaurant. They need to update their system and/or menu for the correct pricing and take a look at their drink refill policy. These two things really killed the vibe of my experience with this restaurant. We visited this establishment and the food and staff exceeded our expectations. From the hostess outside who was very accommodating and the security guard who held the door open and kept things in order. Our waitress Jessica R was so pleasant and friendly. We had to wait almost 10 minutes to get her attention for the water refill. We spoke with a manager about a concern( nothing major), and she was not inviting at all. Inside the restaurant was hot!
