I recently visited SFK with a girlfriend for a girls night after seeing this place come up multiple times on my TikTok FYP. Here's my take away: Seating Before entering, you have to check-in with security outside and they will see what's available. We entered and were immediately greeted and sat at a high boy table (though we were also offered the bar). The tables at the entrance are in a busy walk through area so just be aware that people may be stopping or standing over you. Cleanliness This place is spotless. They keep cleaning staff constantly cleaning floors and the areas around, so you won't see a thing out of place. I can appreciate this effort. Service Staff/Waitress We had the sweetest waitress named Jessica. She was friendly, upbeat, and just fun. We provided some great food and drink recommendations, but we were less than impressed with the drinks. She also forgot my Sprite I ordered so I was limited to just water all night. I loved her personality, but I have to say, she didn't check in on us as much as I would have liked. In fact, we had to constantly flag her down. Food It took almost an hour for our food. Despite this, the food was great! Per Jessica's recommendation, we did the fried wings (4) with mashed potatoes, greens, black eyed peas and mac and cheese. The chicken was fried well and seasoned. The potatoes were nice and creamy with melted butter on top. The peas were good, though a bit too salty to me. The mac and cheese were *chefs kiss*. The greens were good but had a bit too much of something in them. I couldn't put my finger on it. The highlight was the cornbread. It was swoon-worthy! Get it! Pricing Pricing was actually pretty good all things considered. My whole meal plus the extra side came to $37. The total amount also included 18% gratuity and they offer you the option for additional tip. Overall, it was a nice experience. They had a steady stream of customers, and the food was good. Gabby was our waitress, and she was fantastic--super friendly and kept everything flowing smoothly. We sat in the back area - I don't remember there being one my first time coming but it really opens up the space. Decor and wall art was amazing and on theme. 2 bars and ample seating. For starters, we had the biscuits--fluffy, buttery, and just the right touch to kick off the meal. For my main, I got the fried whole wings with yams and mac and cheese--and every bite was SO GOOD. The wings were seasoned perfectly, and the sides were full of that homemade, soulful flavor you just can't fake. IYKYK. Second, my family and I had a reservation for 7pm and still waited almost 45mins before being seated. I asked her about this and she responded, oh she is just putting her shoes on. But there were 4 other people sitting as well. We finally get seated and immediately put our drink and food orders in. I ordered lamb chops (VERY FATTY), garlic mashed potatoes (tasted like instant..no hint of garlic AT ALL) and greens..they weren't good either. Other family members ordered the following: Jerk chicken..very dry, Mac n cheese (3 out of 10) chicken wings( didn't taste like they were seasoned) Smashed burger..that was good Catfish..aint nooo way that was catfish! I was born and raised in TN and been cooking all types of fish and that definitely wasn't catfish. My son took 2 bites and that was it. Yams..were very good! Lobster bites..very good! Cocktail drinks - Lemon drop..used too much lemon juice and the Georgia peach "something" that drink was very good!! Ambiance..4 out of 10. It's really hard to get a 5 out of 5 from me because I'm a stickler for good customer service and food that comes out hot! However, let me just say Southern Fire Kitchen did not disappoint in either area. Made same day reservations and was promptly seated upon arrival. I sat on the smaller side so I didn't get a view of their bigger dining area but I'll be back again to see it. Music selection was great and at a decent level that allowed me to still hear my conversation. Decor on the bar side was simple but mature... and no green wall! At least on the smaller side. Anaya our server was a sweet heart. Thanks again for making our first visit a pleasant one! Now on to the food. Ordered the lemon pepper wings as a starter with a side of the honey garlic sauce. (Garlic Honey Sauce was tasty) Chicken wings were HOT, fried and season to perfection...that emphasis on hot is important as food at many establishments have the tendency to come out lukewarm or cold. For the entree I ordered the catfish dinner although they mistakenly gave me whiting but tasted like swai. I didn't bother sending it back but I really wish they did get it right the first time; nonetheless the fish was HOT and seasoned to perfection, but not fried as hard as I would have liked. All the sides were HOT Mac and Cheese, delicious; collard greens, delicious; garlic mashed potatoes with that melted butter, delicious; green beans were a bit heavily seasoned, but delicious nonetheless and finally the yams were not my favorite ... I'm not a huge fan of nutmeg and the nutmeg was a bit overpowering for me. Last but not least the honey butter cornbread were moist , lightly sweetened and delicious ! If it doesn't come out glistening with the honey butter you won't get the full experience. The food was good when we finally got it. Restaurant was crowded and hot. Not sure if the ac was working. Trying to eat hot food in a hot restaurant was disappointing. The servicer, Robin, only checked on us either when someone was being seated in the area or the large group sitting next to us. No offer for additional drinks, water or nothing. An appetizer was brought to our table that we didn't order and I was charged for it. 18% gratuity plus a tip was added for less than adequate service. Hands down, the best food we've had in Atlanta so far! From the moment you walk in, the upbeat music sets a lively vibe, and the restaurant's decor feels dark and mysterious, but with fun, playful touches that make it so inviting. Visiting from out of town and was craving soul food. My friend suggested we try this place. We came for an early dinner on a Saturday, it was a short 30 minute wait so we decided to wait it out. The buffalo shrimp didn't come with a sauce, which I thought was odd. Not even a ranch? Black eyed peas were fresh, hot and tasty. The catfish didn't appear to be as fresh, it didn't have a crunch to it, though the flavor was ok. It definitely needed hot sauce and tartar sauce since it was dried out. The mac n cheese had a nice presentation, but inside the noodles were dry. Unlike my friend, hers was really cheesy and moist. Lastly, the cornbread was just ok. Nothing really to write home about. I do think this place is worth a try, but not sure if I'd add this to my places to visit every time I'm in town. This place was just okay. It was overhyped in my opinion. While the atmosphere and ambience were nice there were a couple things that were just unpleasant. First- no refills on drinks... most places you go offer refills so i found it odd. Then while taking my order the server started having a full blown conversation with another server and I hadn't even finished my order yet Then, as I went to the bathroom I realized there was a line and only one functioning bathroom. We ordered three dishes- fried whiting fish with Mac n cheese and broccoli, Cajun lobster pasta, and the beef short rib with fries and broccoli. While eating the fish we found bones still left in it and the coating was bland overall but the Mac n cheese and broccoli were very good! The lobster on the pasta was over cooked and very chewy. The noodles were cooked good but pasta sauce was just okay. The rib and the fries were very good but it only came with a singular rib on the plate. The food really sung to me, I had the chicken wings which where hot, crispy, and flavorful paired with macaroni and greens, the greens were okay but the macaroni was amazingggg, one time for the cheese pull.
