Wow! Unbelievable food and efficient, friendly service…read more The portion sizes are very generous. Our young daughter ate all of her ribs. That's how we know the food is tasty. We loved the ambiance of the place. It felt like a barbecue joint.

They have been featured on Food Network's "Diners, Drive In's, and Dives" and have the pictures with Guy Fieri prominently displayed to prove it. The interior is eclectic, which is comforting. While BBQ is the main emphasis here, there are a number of other things on the menu. One of these that's really popular is the seafood stuffed potatoes. These are gigantic baked potatoes that come with shrimp or catfish, with our without crawfish étouffée. Seafood is a definite option here, and one can have it on Friday or any other day. But let's discuss the BBQ. They have smoked turkey that's never dry, and this is great in a sandwich or plate. The smoked wings are another favorite of mine. Then there is the smoked meatloaf, which is great in po-boy form. The ribs and brisket are also very worthy options. I think a two meat plate is a good way to enjoy the BBQ as it allows variety in tasting! Then one has to be pleased by the wide selection of sides. Variety is always great, especially when it includes uncommonly great options like fried green beans, red beans and rice, and Cajun Dirty Rice. One can always get coleslaw and beans if you are a fan of the classics. They even have desserts, if one has any room left for them. I rarely do...

I was served a "large" gumbo, and I don't even want to know how small the lesser size serving might be. The Dungeness crab leg thrown into the gumbo was a nice touch -- something to crack it open so you can eat it would have been a really nice touch, too. They didn't have a nut cracker or anything, so I guess that crab leg was decorative? I ordered a house salad, and by dictionary definition I guess it was a salad. It had three ingredients: wilted iceberg lettuce, croutons, and a couple of fridge-aged cherry tomatoes of the flavorless variety. Bet the profit margin on that salad is HUGE! I don't go out to dinner because I want to heap more profit on someone's margins -- I want good food. I can't say enough about the great staff at this restaurant, and I truly mean that.. They're friendly, hard working and they really make you feel special as a customer. The service is nothing less than excellent, and I know what to look for in this regard -- you may have seen my long history of reviews on Yelp. I bet even the staff is bothered by the odor of urine wafting through the restaurant from the men's room. I certainly was. Bottom line: this place could be world-class if it had new management. Let's hope that happens soon.

The atmosphere is small, cozy, and inviting, making it just as good for a casual dinner as it is for a special night out. Our server, Addison, was outstanding--easily one of the best servers I've had in Baton Rouge. She was attentive, friendly, knowledgeable, and made the entire experience even better. If you get the chance, don't miss their Restaurant Week menu. They always go above and beyond, and this year was no exception. The quail, stuffed with boudin and served over red beans, was incredibly juicy and packed with flavor. It was one of the standout dishes I've had in quite a while. If you're in Baton Rouge and can't decide where to eat, City Pork on Jefferson is a place you can count on. Great food, excellent service, and a warm atmosphere keep me coming back.

Saw this place and decided to stop check it out. Can't believe someone gave it 1 star. I went in around 1 PM and the place was still crowded from lunch. Wife and I split a pound of peel and eat shrimp and a shrimp po-boy. With drinks our meal was less than $30. We took the chips with us for later. It was too much food for one meal. The place is open (not crowded with tables), clean and the restroom was also clean. The hostess sat us immediately and the server did a great job even while juggling several other tables. Not sure how you could spend $69 and claim it's flavorless microwaved food. The last review was TOTAL BS. Definitely would stop again.

While the quality of the food is spot on the menu prices have increased dramatically, over the past few years while the portions are significantly smaller. The Signature poboy was served on what sees to be a slightly larger than normal hot dog bun. Since the remodel, every time that we've been to Willie's and asked to be seated on the patio we're met with some variation of "we're not seating people on the patio today." It's a shame as they have a really nice patio, but it seems that it is rarely used.
