Food and service was great! JJ was super sweet and helped us understand the menu and her recommendations were exactly what we were looking for!

    Chicken Karaage Rice Bowl

From time to time, I crave for some fried chicken bites. This karagee rice bowl satisfies it. The chicken is crispy on the outside, juicy inside and very flavorful. Comes with spicy Mayo dip on the side. Portion is perfect for me -- I don't get too full too much. I would order from here again for sure!! Parking is a bit challenging but doable for quick pickup. I go from the back alley.

Went with a group of friends when they just opened, so there was no wait for us. We just ordered at the tablet. I got the chicken Katsu ramen. The Katsu was on the side so you can dip it into the ramen. It was decent and affordable. It's not the best ramen, but it was good enough. Service was quick too.

    Overpriced for a small portion.

First time eating here, I was enjoying the spicy chicken katsu (delicious) when I ate something crunchy. I took a second slurp and a thorn of some sort poked the back of my throat. I spit it out and could not break it with my hands. Unsure what this object is. The owner needs to contact me immediately.

Decent ramen and rice bowl place. Went there like twice, food was pretty pricey (a main dish and a plate of dumplings put me back by like twenty bucks), but it's worth the price if you want ramen and rice bowls around here. Will come again soon for the yakisoba and seafood ramen.

Look Noodles is an Asian restaurant near the University of Texas at Austin that specializes in Chinese and Japanese foods particularly stir-fried noodles, rice bowls, and ramen. I knew I had to get one of each, so I tried their: - Combination Spicy Yakiudon: beef, chicken, and shrimp mixed in with thick, chewy noodles. This is a dish that's more tangy and light in flavor. I would have liked the noodles to have been sauced more, but that's just personal preference. ($13.95) - 3.5/5 - Tonkotsu Ramen: miso-based pork broth with chashu (pork), ajitama egg, corn, scallion. A good item to get if you want something more rich. If you're in the mood for ramen near the campus area, this wouldn't be a bad choice. ($12.75) - 3.75/5 - Braised Pork Rice Bowl: probably my favorite of the dishes. This came with a lot of meat, was pretty flavorful, tender, and filling! Def get this. ($11.95) - 4/5 - Pork Gyoza: this came with 6 pieces and was pan-fried. A classic and you can't go wrong with this if you need an appetizer beforehand. ($6.45) - 3.75/5 - Mochi Ice Cream: I got the matcha and mango flavors. A great way to end a hearty meal. ($3 for 2) - 4/5 Overall, I had a good time here. There's a wide array of options to choose from and the portions are filling. With that said, I give them a 3.5/5 for being a good spot to try out near the campus area.

    Kimchi Ramen

I did take out for ramen because it was especially cold. I work on 18th and colorado so it's a 7 minute walk. The online and calling order process is pretty straightforward. I thought my ramen was ok. I order the kimchi ramen and didn't see any kimchi and only a faint taste/scent in the broth. If anything it smelled more porky due to the 3 pieces of pork provided. I haven't had ramen that had such a strong smell of pork. I liked the to-go packaging. i would try their other dishes but it's a Chinese restaurant looking to satisfy everyone and so they can't do everything well, just good enough. It was $12 for a bowl, which is a good price for lunch.

Rice bowl was delicious! The kimchi was some of the best I've had in Austin, great music too!! Thank you!

This restaurant gave me such strange vibes. I felt like I was in a video game at night and kept getting the feeling that I was dissociating from reality. I came on a Wednesday night, and there were people inside, but it was very quiet with extremely eerie, ethereal music playing very softly. I felt oddly depressed and unsettled inside the restaurant. I had the chicken katsu rice bowl. The chicken was good, but the sauce had a bad taste, and the broccoli was very hard and bitter. The food was brought out very quickly, which was nice. I felt relieved to finally get a breath of fresh air outside after leaving the stifling atmosphere of the restaurant.

    Katsu bento
    Isabel L.

Taste and quality are extremely mediocre but the food comes out quickly and prices are relatively low. I tried the braised pork rice bowl, katsu bento, and pork dumplings. Flavor of braised pork bowl was pretty good, but some of the meat was kind of tough- probably from being cooked and reheated several times over. There was a small pool of oil beneath my rice, which was not very appealing. I have nothing to say about the katsu- it was just okay. The pork dumplings were not very good at all. They're fried, seemingly deep fried because strangely, the entire dumpling was fried rather than just the bottom. You can get frozen dumplings just as good from Costco or maybe even Wal-mart.

The spicy shrimp yakiudon was quite tasty, with just enough spice. Restaurant was clean and service was quick and friendly.

It was still great though we got everything we need and the food came out in good timing. The drinks were really fun and I really liked the cold foam on the beer! Definitely must try! The appetizers were not that good I would skip. The miso ramen though, was AMAZING!! The broth is so rich and creamy. The noodles were also really good at picking up the broth. Food came out in a reasonable amount of time. #5 Tsukemen/Dipping Broth ($16.50): The dipping broth wasn't umami enough to hold up as a true dipping broth, so we ended up pouring it over our noodles and eating it like a regular ramen bowl. The flavors were really good and better than the MI-SO-HOT. The only complaint about the broth was that it wasn't warm or hot. The noodles were bouncy and thick like udon, which I loved. They only gave one slice of chashu, which was disappointing, so I'm glad we added the extra Goma Pork/Sesame Seasoned Ground Pork ($2.50) and Naruto Maki ($1.50). Chashu Rice Bowl ($8.50): Good, but not as flavorful or melt-in-your-mouth as last time. #4 MI-SO-HOT (Tonkotsu) ($16): My cousin got this and it was actually bulked out with veggies. It was good, but the flavors weren't anything standout. Not super spicy either, so the heat is very tolerable.

The bowl was loaded with a ton of lettuce or cabbage and piles of green onions, which totally threw off the balance of the dish. Before, the flavor was rich, deep, and spicy in a satisfying way. This time it felt watered down, overly bulky from the vegetables, and the overall taste just did not resemble what I remember at all. It felt like a completely different recipe. On top of that, the restaurant was dead at lunch, which was surprising for this place. The inside layout and seating have also been changed, and the space feels less cozy and more awkward than before. The whole vibe is just different. I hate writing this because this used to be the OG best ramen spot in town, but it has gone really downhill. Between the recipe change, the overload of greens, and the interior changes, it just was not the same experience. With so many new and better options around Austin now, I will not be returning. Sadly.....Check the last two photos for reference - time/date stamp.

Somehow, against all odds, Ramen Del Barrio still exceeds its reputation. There's only one vegan ramen option but it's all you need, both in terms of portion size and flavor. I've never had anything quite like the mole tsukemen, a Tex-Mex mashup pairing rich mole broth served separately from handmade noodles so thick, you might mistake them for udon at a glance. Simple toppings of fried tortilla strips, avocado, charred jalapeno, and caramelized onions adorn the top. Before this moment, I thought I just wasn't a fan of mole. It turns out, I had never tried great mole before. This stuff dazzles with layered spices, melded so well that I can't pick a single one out from the pack. We got one Austin roll ($22), volcano roll ($15), creamy spicy tan tan ramen ($20), teriyaki sesame tofu yakisoba ($20). I have had their sushi and yakisoba but tried their ramen for first time. I was impressed with their packaging. As you can see in picture, veggies and noodles box was on top and soup at bottom. The only thing I didn't like how noodles became very sticky because of how tight they were packed. So I got it as cold (because I live 30 mins away) and sticky. Ramen came with all the veggies like grilled Chinese broccoli, tofu, sweet corn, marinated shiitake mushrooms, red onions and negi. Yakisoba noodles had the Stir-fried noodles tossed with cabbage, scallion, carrot, marinated shiitake mushrooms, and fragrant negi in a savory house sauce. Volcano roll was a deep fried roll which had spinach, avocado, sweet potato. On top: spicy mayo, sweet soy sauce, chili sauce, Caviart and tempura onion.
