I hate cornbread but LOVE theirs. Also the burnt ends are awesome. The meat dishes never disappoint. Friendly service and good prices.

I had already gone to Benjamin's for my clams and oysters fix. I was looking for some ribs! Becky's is it go to. But I just wanted to sit down and eat in peace and have a glass of wine. No worries, RI is a BYOB state... So I asked where is the nearest liquor store and the woman behind the counter said right across the street. I put my order in, and left and got a beautiful bottle of wine to have with my dinner. When I came back I was told that that could not be consumed on the premises. It's against the law. ???? I have been to numerous restaurants in Rhode Island that offer BYOB. We had a lively discussion... what she was telling me was inaccurate but she did not want to hear it. I was perplexed. Why would they tell me that the liquor store was across the street knowing I was going there to pick up a bottle of wine? any event read the law but I'd love to hear your comments. Becky's: "There is no such thing as BYOB in Rhode Island; Rhode Island law doesn't allow it." That's incorrect. Rhode Island DBR expressly discusses legal BYOB establishments, and Middletown's ordinance expressly recognizes them One more famous Newport BYOB deserves mention: Winner Winner was repeatedly singled out as one of Newport's best BYOB restaurants--Condé Nast Traveler specifically described it as BYOB. However, because that information is older, I would call before bringing a bottle rather than tell you it's definitely still BYOB today. And there's an important point from our Becky's discussion: I found enough current BYOB restaurants in Rhode Island to make their statement that "there's no such thing as BYOB in Rhode Island" even more clearly wrong. If you'd like, I can broaden this beyond Newport County and find the 10 best BYOB dinner restaurants in all of Rhode Island,

If I was rating Becky's purely…read moreon the food I'd probably give it 4 stars but having only 1/2 the menu available on a Saturday was a bit disappointing and worthy of a slight deduction. The building is fairly small but there is some indoor seating available. The ambiance isn't much to look at but it seemed clean and was all that we needed since it was to-go. They have some plasticware and to-go containers for sauces which was helpful, but you'll need your own plates. Smoked flavors were spot on and the sauces were tasty. The prices were on par with most BBQ joints (brisket isn't cheap) but I got a pretty large chunk of inedible bark included. The ribs were good and the membrane was removed but slightly less meaty than others I've had. The kielbasa had great flavor and paired perfectly with the Carolina gold sauce. I would probably go back just for that! The only sides that were available were cornbread and beans. The cornbread was cake-like and moist. We didn't try the beans. Service was a normal Gen Z interaction IYKWIM. Overall, the food was pretty good and I wouldn't hesitate to get it again if in the area. Just wish they had the full menu available.

The ranch was great and honestly the best part of the meal. The chicken wasn't very good at all. One of my tenders was basically entirely breading, and the breading isn't very good. The parts that did have significant pieces of chicken were dry and almost tasted burnt, so dunking them in ranch was necessary. $26 for this meal is exorbitant when I could drive to the Cane's in Warwick and get significantly more, better food than this. It might be great for URI students late at night, and I love the amount of sauces they offer, but I likely won't be back. I sat outside for a while waiting on my order to be ready and never saw anyone go in, so maybe others have come to the same conclusion. It's a shame, because I was really hoping it would be good.

We were in town for a tour at URI and needed some food before heading home. Stack House had great…read morereviews here so we decided to give it a try. The service was friendly while we ordered at the counter. The restaurant itself was empty other than us, though they seemed to do a decent take out business in mid-summer even with no students around. Maybe we should've taken our food somewhere else to eat. The music was not our style and was very loudly playing through a tv mounted on the wall. It was also very hot in the restaurant, despite it being only 67 degrees and rainy outside. The AC vent was *kinda* blowing cool air if you stood under it. Despite ordering food to dine in, it was served in a greasy-fingerprinted plastic container with plastic utensils. I think the only difference would be that "to-go" would have been placed in a a plastic bag. The food.... The options for food are waffles in various ways, chicken sandwiches flavored with different things, or chicken & waffles, which we ordered so we could try a bit of everything. I did eat about half of a serving before giving up. The chicken was rubbery and bland. The waffle was dense and also pretty bland. The French fries were a bit too potato-y for my liking. Everything felt too greasy and not flavorful. It all absolutely needed a sauce that they charge nearly $2 extra for. We had one maple bourbon sauce to share and it was tasty but not enough for two people so I kept dousing everything in the maple syrup that was on the table. My dining partner said, "I don't think even that much syrup will help." When I couldn't finish, even my teenaged, eat-anything, and budget-conscious kid said, "just toss it. It is not worth saving." Though it was after 2pm when we had this lunch, neither of us felt hungry for dinner that night- and not really in a "wow that was so good it filled me up" way. Stack House likely does a great hangover food business. If I'm back in the area, I will try something else next time.

They have a great menu with pub style apps, burgers, and delicious entrees, a comfortable atmosphere, live music on the weekends, and just an over all great vibe. On my first visit, my friend and I both ordered the prime rib, which is a special on Saturday nights. The meat was tender, flovorful, and the portion size was great. It was served with a baked potato (with lots of butter and sour cream), and roasted green beans - all were delicious! Service was perfect - we never had to wait long for anything. Our server was friendly, prompt, and we couldn;t have asked for anything more. My second visit was with my husband and our two daughters. My daughters split the fish and chips and they said it was really good. My husband got chicken and waffles, and I got the prime rib again. Once again, the service was perfect, and the prime rib dinner was outstanding. My daughters went home after dinner, but my husband and I moved over to the bar as we wanted to stay for the live music. The band was called Rash Cat and we really enjoyed their performance. They were super talented and had great classic song choices, and the music was loud enough to provide a fun atmosphere, but also quiet enough that you could still carry on a conversation. I'd definitely go back to see them again. I'd like to come back again to try more of the menu items and to enjoy the outdoor patio & fire pit. What a great RI tavern for all seasons!

We started with a half order of nachos topped with the most flavorful pulled pork I've ever had. My wife and I literally couldn't stop eating. The fresh jalapeños added just the right kick, perfectly balanced by the sweetness of the barbecue sauce, and the house-made chips stayed crisp the whole time--no sogginess, just done right. Every detail was intentional, and you could taste it. Then came the dry rub chicken wings--perfectly cooked with a juicy center and a crisp exterior. The subtle honey sriracha flavor layered in beautifully without overpowering the chicken. To finish, we had the baby back ribs over coconut rice. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender, the rice was cooked perfectly with just the right hint of sweetness, and the shaved Brussels sprouts with pickled onions and jalapeños added the perfect crunch and contrast. I genuinely couldn't stop eating. The service matched the food. Our waitress guided us with spot-on recommendations, and I must have told her six times that this was the best meal I've ever had. By the time we left, we felt like we had just been welcomed into someone's home. I loved the atmosphere inside and out. I only wish I had the chance to meet the owner to say this in person--the attention to detail, the energy, and the care put into this place are undeniable. Thank you for the best meal I've had in 37 years. Seriously.
