Despite specifically and kindly asking to ensure butter and utensils were in my to-go bag, I arrived back at work to find neither. I'm now unable to eat my lunch because I lack a simple fork. However, the lack of silverware isn't the main issue--it's the principle. When I called to resolve this, I was told nothing could be done. This may literally be the best sandwich I've ever eaten. I am a sourdough snob. I will drive to San Francisco for good bread. But, in downtown Modesto, there was this amazing place with the freshest, tastiest most perfect sandwich I've ever eaten called the Caprese. My husband had brisket and a side of macaroni and cheese. Restaurant was quaint. AC wasn't working but they had a fan going. The bathroom was immaculate. Friendly fast service and they brought our food. The bread was warm and perfect Sourdough! I am happy a Sourdough n Co is closer to my house because I enjoy their sandwiches over a lot of other places. But this particular location, the employees making the sandwiches don't follow the online orders to the T! They are making the sandwiches incorrectly and we talking something pretty simple (ie no Tomatoes). Hopefully they'll tighten their belts and start getting it right on a consistent basis. Not great but not horrible. We ordered inside and waited about 20-25 min for two sandwiches. The staff working was nice and I think they were working as quickly as they could. So the wait time is not their fault, it just seemed like alot of people were waiting at the same time. The sandwiches were good. We got specialty sandwiches that were filling. The price seemed expensive. $40 for two sandwiches, one small cup of soup and one soda. Like I said, not the greatest thing in the world, pretty tasty though! On our visit to Modesto, we ordered 6 sandwiches and 1 chowder in a bread bowl. We did this as a walk in. The employee was so nice and patience with us (sorry didn't get her name, mature black lady). I get my sandwiches without bread and I'm ok paying for the whole sandwich without bread if it's worth it.. 3 pieces of meat is definitely not worth it.. Good but nothing to rave about, pricey for what it is. We put in an order for pickup, they had forgotten one of our drinks with our order, so we had to ask. Got it home, to much horseradish on one sandwich and gave us the wrong chips. We also ordered a cup of the fire roasted vegetable soup, lacked salt. I ordered a small salad with ranch and a few hours later I was running to the bathroom. It's been three days of hell. My husband ate a few bites of my food and he was sick too for one night. I ate almost the whole salad and am paying for it. This was at the restaurant by smart & final in downtown. The first and only other time I ate at this place was at the other location and it wasn't worth the money. I ordered a tuna salad sandwich and clam chowder and it wasn't special at all. Pretty bland.
