    menu, food was SUPER MID

VIBE: Sort of like it spirit airlines did omakase. From the first plate of 4 pieces to the last was 16 minutes, they're are trying to GET YOU OUT. At the end the server, half looking at us, asked which pre packaged in plastic wrap mochi flavor we wanted, and then gave it a little toss onto our plate lol. Closer to 2.5 stars, really. This is the kind of place to go to pregame a night out. The atmosphere is grey, the lighting is both harsh and too dark, and the music is quite loud. The establishment itself was just kinda grimy, dusty, and dirty. The single toilet overflowed with feces and was unattended to. We did let them know; I don't ding them much for this, but it was gross. AYCE: At $100 it is not all you can eat, and they very squirelly about not explaining the all you can eat until the end. You get one shot to order everything you want, and its $4 per left over piece of food/rice ball. The all you can drink sapporo and sake could definitely help you get your money worth, but that's not really what we were there for. QUALITY: The quality is pretty grim honestly, and the preparation doesn't help (wagyu over cooked in some pieces, undercooked in others, amount of fish totally inconsistent etc). I got pretty nauseous and feverish a few hours after eating here, but my table mate didn't so I won't pin it squarely on them. The staff were nice enough, but definitely felt like they knew this was sort of a cash grab, or something to be a little cagey about. I think they were surprised we didn't order more, but I was just ready to get out of there. You could have a good time, but make sure you understand the vibe. Think 22-24 year olds pregaming with sushi as a secondary experience to that. I don't recommend it outside of this setting. You can get MUCH BETTER OMAKASE AND SUSHI OTHER PLACES FOR THIS PRICE. Here you are paying for the AYCDrink and half AYCE gimmick.

This is, by far, my favorite omakase and AYCD sake restaurant ever!! I'm newer to the concept but really enjoyed each dish that was brought out to us and the never ending flow of sake presented to us by the great servers and sushi chefs (shoutout to Kevin!) They do two seatings per night and I recommend this restaurant to all my friends visiting NYC, I make sure to visit every time I'm in town! Definitely get a seat at the bar, the environment is lit!

Great value for 100 dollars especially given this comes with all you can drink as well. Sushi is high quality. Note that for the AYCE portion you have to decide ahead of time how many pieces you want, and you cannot add more after that. The AYCE only applies to tuna, fatty tuna, and wagyu. Still very good value even with limitations. They also try to have you finish fast, within 1.5 hours, so they can get more customers in. They are strict about time limit. Ambiance is pretty crowded bar-style. Make sure to get a reservation ahead of time.

    Toro and lean tuna

Came here with a buddy of mine after seeing the AYCE deal all over social media. This is a very small hole in the wall restaurant with a long counter and a few tables up front. I sat at the table. Service was honestly amazing and my server Sophia was super attentive and friendly explaining all of our options and dealing with our large ordering antics. After a delightful omakase experience with a bunch of great flavors, the all you can eat started and you have to order everything at once so you need to know how much you can eat before. We ordered 140 pieces, 60 lean tuna, 40 toro, and 40 of the A5 Wagyu. Do not do this, so good but so agonizing. Food tasted amazing and the sake options made it fun. Overall was a super fun experience and I would go back and get a reasonable amount of food instead.

SourAji has been on my wife and Is radar for quite some time, and when we had celebratory occasion, we decided to try the experience. We were a little nervous that it would be over hyped (as seen a lot of influencers posting about it online), but it really did exceed our expectations in terms of quality and service! We ended up sitting at the second bar in the back of the restaurant, and were lucky enough to get two end seats (which were right next to the sake...). Our glasses were never empty! They offer a premium version of the sake (extra $20pp), where you can order from an additional two sakes. We didn't opt for it, but may consider it for next time. Food-wise, the nigiri really was fantastic with some of our favorites being the seabreem, himachi, and BBQ eel. It was some of the best white fish nigiri I've had in a while (I usually wouldn't pick those). Then for the AYCE portion the way it works is you can order any amount of lean tuna, then any amount of fatty tuna (otoro - which is torched), then any amount of the waygu. You only have one opportunity to order each one, so choose wisely. I ordered 10 of each, which was a bold move and definitely feeling it today... But there are def groups that order way more (I think current record for someone is like 220ish between the three!). Service-wise, we felt very well taken care of. Super friendly, welcoming, and talkative. As mentioned above, our glasses were never empty - and huge shout out to Celeste and Ryan for giving great recommendations on the sake and mochi (for dessert)! Overall, left feeling like it was a memorable experience and would do it again!

    ayce wagyu!

$98 for AYCE omakase and sake! 12 courses then unlimited lean tuna, toro, and wagyu. Very delicious, good quality, and worth the price! Most omakase places feel intimate and quiet, but here, you can connect and make friends with so many people. It was a very lively environment with engaging sushi chefs and good service. You start with 12 unique pieces of sushi then go into the AYCE portion. They start with lean tuna first, you ask for how many pieces you want to eat. Then you eat them and go into toro. So on and so forth. It takes the pressure off of not ordering too much. My tip: order more than you think! This place is definitely worth it for the price point. Make reservations in advance.

Really solid omakase overall--fish was fresh, well-prepared, and the pacing of the meal felt just right. Definitely a great spot if you're looking for a more intimate sushi experience in NYC. The only downside was the "all you can eat" portion at the end--you have to preorder the three options (wagyu and two toro), which kind of defeats the purpose and makes it feel less flexible than expected. Also, it's a very small space with only one bathroom, so be prepared for a bit of a wait there. Still great meal however probably only a 1 time experience

$100 Omakase with all-you-can-drink and all-you-can-eat for A5 Wagyu, Fatty Tuna, and Lean Tuna! This place is worth it if you can eat a lot! The quality itself is pretty mediocre and there's option pieces where there's basically any meat on it. Rice leans more on the vinegar side and it is densely packed. Overall, I'm glad I tried it for the one time but I was defeated and probably wouldn't go again unless I was mega hungry.

Omakase + AYCE + AYCD. You have to make a reservation (quite easy online), but the place is pretty small so walk-ins most likely won't be seated. I arrived promptly for my reservation at 7:00pm and everyone else who had a resy had to wait outside since the previous wave was still finishing up. I booked a 3 person at the Sushi Bar (maybe 17 seats) since there wasn't any tables open (4 tables of 2 and 1 table of 6). The omakase itself is 12 pieces and decent quality and wide range of fish, regular salmon and toro and scallop and wagyu. This part takes around 30 minutes to eat and they have a bunch of sakes for you to choose from, including one plum wine that was pretty sweet and my personal favorite. The AYCE is three rounds: tuna, toro, and wagyu. They ask you how many pieces you want only one time and then you can't go back to the previous round. It's also $10 per piece that you cannot finish, so make sure to budget well (I ate 5-5-3, but my partner had 5-10-6 and said he could have gone with 1-2 pieces less. I think the average for the AYCE section is ~20 per person). There was a lady who ordered 200 pieces of toro...I'm not sure she finished because she only had the allotted 90 minutes (but 30 had already passed for the Omakase portion), and around 8:25 the entire next wave was already waiting near and outside the door and she still had like 40 pieces. Honestly, super fun experience, the waiting staff were super friendly as well. I would definitely recommend, after tax it was roughly $130pp.

First thing that came onto our plate, some sort of toro mixture on a cracker type thing

I enjoyed the experience. You're probably pretty hungry coming to an ayce spot so I appreciated that each piece of the omakase came pretty quickly and the fish was pretty good quality! They take your order for the ayce portion 3 separate times (right before each course). I wish there was soy sauce for the ayce portion but they seemed too busy for me to make a request. Another yelper is right through, the wagyu is salty enough which was perfect for me. The vibes were casual. I had a great time here and I recommend this place

    Chelsea D.

Another AYCE sushi spot! The toppings weren't as premium as others, but the fish was extremely fresh. My husband and I ate almost 30 additional pieces each, so we feel like we got our money's worth! The chefs were friendly and took the time to explain each piece of nigiri. Seating is limited since the space is a bit small, but perfect for a date night!

    Chris P.

Finally after months of rescheduling this reservations due to life priorities I decided to take myself out on a solo date here. I arrived 10 minutes and I was at least 6 sushi pieces behind. Omakase experience was quick and rushed. The vibe and crowd except for the host and manager were standoffish compared to other omakase spots. The seating was 90 minutes we were done in about 75 minutes. There were unlimited sake, beer and tea. I ordered hot oolong tea and they forgot about my drink even after I paid the bill but at the same time ai didn't follow up. I started off with the plum wine followed by sake. I liked the idea of serving the sake on a shot glass. It was the right amount of alcohol for each serving. My top three pieces from the omakase round were the wagyu, scallop and eel. For the AYCE, there were 3 rounds: lean tuna (1st round), Toro (2nd round) and wagyu (last round). You can't go back after ordering from each round for more so there is gamble here, order a lot and if you cannot finish it there is an extra charge. The dining experience ended with dessert of choice: cookies and cream ice cream and mochi. I went with the black sesame mochi. Bathroom was very clean. If I come back them I have to go in with an empty stomach to consume more wagyu sushi.

We went to SourAji recently on a Friday night to try the all you can eat Omakase that we saw on social media. All in all it was a quality experience. The cuts of sushi were delicious and what you would expect for that price point. The ice cream was tasty. The space itself is compact and pretty cute. Where this place gets 3 stars instead of higher is the service and the unusual all you can eat policy. Our service wasn't terrible and fairly decent but not what you would expect from a place at this price point as the waiter didn't do a great job of explaining the omakese. As for the all you can eat policy, as others have noted, it is more of an all you can approximately eat as you get to order 1 round of any amount of sushi but no more than that so you have to make a determination of how much you can eat instead of just ordering as you go along. It should be noted that they impose a penalty for not finishing all your sushi.

The atmosphere here was a bit more lively and crowded compared to the more relaxed vibe of the UWS spot. I enjoyed my meal even more this time around. I started with the beet salad, which was delicious and offered great value given the generous portion size. it featured sliced beets, arugula, goat cheese, and walnuts. I also had my eye on the hijiki soybean salad--which is a bit smaller and reportedly homemade--so I may try that next time, along with the warm mushroom salad which looked very tasty. The edamame was standard but served as a nice starter. For my main rolls, I chose the salmon avocado and the yellowtail scallion. Both were very fresh and definitely worth ordering again. The salmon avocado roll had a nice touch of sesame seeds on the rice, while the yellowtail scallion was prepared with the seaweed on the outside. My boyfriend's sushi entree looked excellent, so I am considering that or the sushi-sashimi combo for my next visit. The entrees provide a substantial amount of food, and I especially appreciate that they allow you to choose which roll comes with your meal.

Honestly, I'm surprised this restaurant has a four-star rating. While the service was excellent,…read morethe food was consistently disappointing. We started with a lychee martini that tasted overwhelmingly of vodka, with barely any lychee flavor. Of the appetizers--the seaweed salad, cucumber salad, and edamame dumplings--the cucumber salad was the best. The seaweed salad tasted like a standard prepackaged version, while the dumplings had an unusual, unpleasant flavor and tasted as though they had come straight from the freezer. For our main dishes, we ordered the chicken teriyaki bento box and udon with tempura. The udon was acceptable, but the tempura was excessively oily, lacking the light, crisp texture you would expect. Even the chicken teriyaki was underwhelming; it tasted more like a reheated, prepared meal than something freshly cooked. The sushi was another letdown, with an odd flavor and appearance. The dynamite roll was especially disappointing, with an unpleasant texture and very little flavor beyond a touch of heat. The staff deserves credit for their attentive, friendly service, but unfortunately, that couldn't make up for the quality of the meal. We left feeling genuinely disappointed.

Do of course I use Yelp to find something that catches my eye close by where we need to be. I found umami Sushi. We usually can't go wrong with Japanese food or sushi. We had no problems finding the place. The description said it was a small restaurant and as we entered the dining area was very small. Our hotel room was probably bigger. That doesn't bother me especially if we get there, there tables for us to sit comfortably. I also trust my judgment when I find a place that seems to be popular by the locals. The restaurant was empty when we arrived. We were the only ones there, but for some reason we bring good vibes to the places we eat because not too long after we placed our order, people started coming in, to the point that the small dining room was packed. I love Omakase style Service and what we ordered was a sashimi/sushi platter for three and two special rolls. I thought I got to choose the rolls but even that was chefs choice. I was just a bit worried that they would give us the cheap rolls like spicy tuna or California roll. The platter came out and it was beautifully prepared with a piece of sashimi for each of us and the rolls the chefs chose, ended up being two of my favorite rolls. The types of fish they selected were also great quality fish. We were lucky to have placed our order before the crowd came in our we might have had to wait a while because how they prepared it would have taken some time. The service was just right. Because they got busy right away, the waitress was forced to attend to everyone and couldn't really socialize with us. In fact when we finished our platter we were debating what we wanted for dessert but the waitress didn't even ask us and instead she just brought us the bill, so we said to ourselves, "I guess we're not having dessert here." So we paid the bill and gave an opportunity for someone else to take our table.
