The 15 piece nigiri set at $57 is a decent enough deal but this Chirashi "Mega" which promises "13-15 kinds of seasonal fish" feels like a bad deal. What makes this more premium than the other chirashi bowls that they offer? A tiny dot of uni? A spot of chopped-up toro? Seems like there was more ginger and wasabi than anything else. Really enjoyed their nigiri set but their chirashi just doesn't compare to Noz, Hiromi, Goal etc.

Oh my FREAKING goodness gracious!!!!!!!!!! I am here on a work trip, our entire goal was to eat Omakase, this was the best dining experience I have had in my life so far!!!!!! So unassuming you could almost miss it, we called to ask what time Omakase started on the weekdays and they said 4:30, we got there at 4:00 on a Monday and had the place to ourselves! Holy crap you guys!!!! Chef Beto served us tonight and gave us the best fish of our life!!!! They offer $48, 15 course omakase and EVERYTHING, I mean EVERYTHING was insane ( best we have ever had)!! I tried things I never thought I would like and was blown away! Chef Beto was so knowledgeable about the culture and the food we were eating and really enhanced our experience! The Omakase is chefs choice so it's subject to change but tonight we had the please of having the below dishes: Seabream Branzino Arctic char Mackerel Yellowtail Black cod Akami lean tuna Fatty tuna Faroe island salmon Firefly squid Salmon roe Hokkaido uni Freshwater Eel Miso soup ( made in house daily) Fatty tuna hand roll Like I said everything was good but the dishes with the stars are those that I will be dreaming about! Stunning , melt in your mouth food for an affordable price! They only opened a month or so ago and thank god because we were able to enjoy it! Good ambiance and music, beautiful seating and thoughtful dishes! We will come back every time we are in NYC! They don't take reservations which was nice, so we walked in! They serve lunch as well which we will have to try! Best fish I've ever had!!!!

The food was great. Fish were all fresh and tasty. You have a choice between 9,12, or 15 course omakase and it was very reasonably priced. Best bang for your buck. It is a small place, 12 seats total. With enough space for one person to pass behind the seated person. I would say not great for groups but great for date nights or singles. There are no reservations, so first come first serve.

14 courses plus a miso soup for $48! With so many omakase spots emerging in NYC, it can be a bit difficult to stand out. I was enticed by the affordable price point like many others and decided to try it out. The chef for my friend and I seemed to be new and still learning but he was trying his best and had a good attitude. I did think he was a bit heavy handed on the rice and the rice didn't really hold together in some pieces. The fish itself tasted fresh and yummy but I do think it wasn't as creative as other places I've had and were more on the plain side. Again, the chef seemed new and learning, so those technical errors seemed to be expected and hopefully he'll gain more confidence soon! I came to eat affordable omakase, and it delivered.

I love that Times Square has this new omakase spot and the best part is how well priced it is for 15 courses! I don't think you can find a better omakase deal for $48 in the heart of Midtown like this. It's pretty simple and I like that they don't do too much with each piece of nigiri. They keep it focused on quality and freshness. The chef gave some of the best service I've had at an omakase restaurant and the inside was so beautiful and clean. Some highlights of the course were yellowtail, black cod, fatty tuna, salmon, sea urchin, and unagi. The hand roll closed off the meal and was the perfect ending!

Visited this place for dinner with my boyfriend and his sister on a Monday night. We came around 6:30pm and waited around 20-30 minutes to be seated. We went across the street and got coffee. When we came back we go some drinks while waiting in front and the host gave us very good detail of the sake they had and even small tasting. We ended getting a glass each and some beer before we sat down. She also gave us recommendations to get more sake if we wanted. We opted for the 15 pieces omakase and knew we were going to try the daily specials. For specials we got rockfish, green eye, and Donchichi aji. Obviously it's a great deal but each piece was delicious. All of the fish was prepped well and focused on the fish. Everything was clean and balanced without heavy flavors covering it so if you like truffles or foie gras, or wagyu and lots of torching it might not be for you. We got few of the specials and they were all unique! fire fly squid was a little squid that was gently cooked. Super tender with shiso in the rice which I really enjoyed it, although the sisters was not comfy with the innards. Donchichi aji is fattier than normal aji and the ginger scallion helped cut through. The green eye was really really fatty fish as well. I'm not really a fatty fish person but it was delicious to try. My favorite was lean tuna, scallop, and uni. They were chilled, juicy and had the clean slightly sweet taste that you only get when ingredients are well handled. Overall I definitely recommend! It's delicious and worth trying, the price point is just a bonus. The restaurant is very small tho and they don't take reservations, walkins only!

First Impressions: love the ambiance and elegant and intimate feel. The smell of the Hinoki wood was subtle but also immediate and very soothing. The Noms: we came in as a party of 8, ordered two bottles of Sake (sorry forgot the names but they were wonderful!) and all ordered the 15 course omakase. The pieces and their names are all in the pictures. I am not a big fan of sushi (yes yes, my sister already gives me a hard time for being the only Asian person of our friends who doesn't eat sushi) but someone once told me that plenty of people don't like sushi but love omakase... and I guess I'm one of those people because I love omakase. This isn't my first one but the chef was so wonderfully informative and the fish was so fresh and all had little stories accompanying them... it was a great experience. My most favorite pieces: 1. Sea bream 2. House smoked branzino 3. Artic char 4. Hokkaido scallops 5. Hamachi yellowtail 6. Sablefish 7. Bluefin Akami 8. Chu-toro 9. Salmon from faro island 10. Unagi 11. Spanish mackerel In Conclusion: they've only been open for 2 weeks but please make sure you get a seat in asap because I can guarantee you they'll become more popular soon!

Newly opened omakase spot with unbelievable prices. They start at $28 for 9 courses. They don't take reservations as per their website and are walk in only. I think they advertise as fast pace dining but when we went, we didn't feel rushed at all. I'm not sure if they're open during the day but when I looked at their hours on Google Maps, they opened at 5pm so we went for an early dinner. We came a couple minutes after 5pm and were able to snag the last two counter seats. Throughout our dining, we saw multiple groups of people come in and inquire. So it definitely seems quite popular. The inside is quite small and intimate. The space between the counter seats and the walking strip is quite small. Especially when there's jackets hung up, it can be a bit tight to walk. There's a bathroom at the end of the hall, with a Japanese Toto toilet. Since it was newly opened, I felt like the service was quite disorganized. Ordering the omakase was via a paper on the counter, where you can mark which course option you want. The sushi chef will check on you for your order. There didn't really seemed to be someone who was taking drink orders at least for us, we were just waiting for someone to walk by to grab their attention. It was just a lot of waiting around to grab people's attention for something. Same thing for when we were waiting for our bill. There is a first free drink if you sign up for their newsletter. I highly recommend their sake cocktail. It was so light and refreshingly, you can barely taste the alcohol. I heard it's the chefs own recipe for the cocktail! They currently have a limited alcohol license so the options are more limited. Maybe it was the layout of the counter or where we were sat but I felt so far away from the sushi chef. I couldn't really see the chef preparing the sushi which usually I enjoy watching. The sushi chef blends his own sushi rice vinegar. Three vinegars all aged in different lengths of time. My friend really enjoyed the sushi rice and the flavor from the rice vinegar. Personally, I felt like it took away from the fish flavor a little bit. I felt like the fish was quite fresh. My favorite was the scallop and the salmon hand roll at the end. I think one of the courses was a miso soup but I wasn't really counting. Overall: It was overall a great experience at an unbeatable price point. Honestly, you can't find anything this good at this affordable of a price

Omakase but affordable with quality fish. I walked into Tachi and joined the waitlist, they don't do reservations. They have 3 tiers of omakase you can do as well as à la carte (rare for omakase restaurants). The concept was inspired by the standing sushi restaurants in Japan. I got the 15 courses for $48. The fish was so fresh and I love how you can truly taste the difference in each piece. The chef was meticulous and you can tell he loves his craft. Tachi is a great spot for dinner with the girls or date night. I would come back for sure.

So, I work in food distribution specializing in Japanese cuisine and admittedly never officially sat down at an Omakase counter With that said, i was skeptical about the price point but was very astonished about the quality. Sure the space itself can be difficult to navigate but you could expect the same if dining in Tokyo. All things aside, i felt every piece of Nigiri was thoughtfully gentle to the palate. Especially the cured/marinated items. I went for the maximum course @$48 and finished with an additional piece of "Iwashi" / Sardine (a seasonal item recommended by the Chef) which made a fine finishing component complimenting the other courses.

    15 course omakase

This is a good value omakase experience. The decor is really nice, and the sushi is good. I know that this is newly opened so there are some things that can definitely be ironed out/room for improvement. Because it's a walk-in, you do end up waiting quite a bit during prime dinner time. Customers end up walking away. But later in the evening, the place gets quite empty. It might be more beneficial/efficient for them to do a hybrid seating system. Having set dining times when the service starts, and allot a certain amount of seats for reservations. They can keep a certain amount of seats open for walk-ins to join the service. Because so many people were starting at different times, the chefs were pulled in different directions which also slowed down service. We also weren't very sure what happened because the other chefs left quite early without explaining why? So overall service is a bit inconsistent, which is why I gave 4 stars. The sushi rice was also a little inconsistent. Our chef's station had a little too much vinegar, and the acidity overpowered the fish. When he left, and another chef took over the remaining diners - I noticed his rice was better balanced. They have one dessert here, and it's great if you're a matcha lover or want to try monaka (which is difficult to find here). The ice cream is not too sweet and you can really taste the matcha. The Hokkaido sea urchin was great - very fresh and sweet. If you're still hungry, they have several specials to try, and the spotted prawn hand roll is also really great.

Had a surprisingly great omakase experience at Tachi NYC right in Times Square. The pricing is honestly hard to believe for the quality (15 pieces for $48), but it delivers. The atmosphere has a cool retro Japanese vibe, and the attention to detail stands out from sushi served on bamboo leaves to palate-cleansing ginger and even a hand towel. Highlights for me were the melt-in-your-mouth toro, super fresh uni, and the squid with a nice chewy texture and a bit of kick. Their signature miso black cod is slightly sweet with a perfect char definitely a must-order. Also worth mentioning: the miso soup made from fish bone broth was incredibly rich and flavorful. Bonus points for their beautifully designed takeout omakase box feels like unwrapping a gift. Overall, not flashy, just really focused on high-quality, fresh flavors. Definitely a spot I'd come back to.

We walked into a stylish, energetic space with a menu designed around sharing, making it a good option for a casual dinner or group meal. The interior has a contemporary, lively feel with an open kitchen that adds energy to the room, and the seating is arranged to accommodate both small groups and larger parties comfortably. Instead of sticking strictly to traditional Japanese dishes, the menu mixes familiar flavors with more modern presentations, creating a dining experience that feels both approachable and exploratory. The standout item is the katsu, which is where the restaurant really shines. We ordered the pork loin and tenderloin versions and found the breading crisp while the meat stayed tender and juicy, the crust holding up well without becoming greasy. The mazemen is another highlight, with chewy noodles and a rich sauce that brought a lot of flavor without feeling too heavy, the sauce coating each strand evenly and the toppings adding layers of texture and depth. Beyond those, dishes like the butter scallops, corn ribs, and seafood options added variety and made it worth ordering multiple plates to share. The scallops were well seared with a buttery finish, and the corn ribs offered a smoky, slightly charred flavor that paired well with the richer dishes. The desserts are also a memorable part of the meal. The corn ice cream is one of the more unique items, with a sweet and savory flavor that sounds unusual but works surprisingly well, the sweetness of the corn balanced by a subtle savory note that kept it from feeling cloying. It fits the restaurant's overall approach of taking familiar ingredients and presenting them in a more unexpected way, and the creativity of the dessert menu feels consistent with the rest of the meal. Service and atmosphere add to the experience, with attentive staff and a lively dining room that feels suited for groups. The team checked in at the right moments and kept the pacing of the meal comfortable, and the open kitchen added a layer of engagement as we watched the dishes come together. Reservations can be difficult to get, especially during busy times, and the small plate format means the best experience comes from ordering several dishes rather than focusing on one entree. The variety across the menu encourages sharing, and the pacing of the meal works well for a longer, more social dinner. konban delivers a well-executed modern Japanese dining experience. While some of the more hyped dishes may not completely live up to expectations, the katsu, noodles, and seafood dishes make it a worthwhile visit. The combination of creativity, quality ingredients, and a lively atmosphere makes it a destination for exploring different flavors and dishes together rather than just ordering one signature item, offering a meal that feels both engaging and satisfying.

The pork was so tender. the ebi tempura were huge, and the mazemen was thankfully not spicy. However, the scallops could've been more tender and we we were all unimpressed with the ube tiramisu. The wait times have gotten better over the years (probably because people are waiting for the restaurant next door), but the food and drinks here are still top-notch.
