I've been here several times since moving from California and have yet to be disappointed. My only complaint is that sometimes it takes a few minutes to get acknowledged and pay up front. I don't think their current low rating is warranted at all... It's not as fancy as the Churrasca salad bar but you're not paying $35+ per person either. There were 3 salad options along with everything you'd expect at a full salad bar. There were even a few lo cal/ fat free dressing options and blue cheese crumbles. The pizza was ok and there were a few varieties of breads and soups along with a potato and dessert bar. All in all it's a great place to fill up on healthy fare, or you can indulge on a few not-so-healthy options if your heart/stomach desires. I will say that it's a little goofy that they charge for chicken breast, but I wouldn't want chicken sitting out for awhile either. Can't comment on quality since I've never paid extra for it. read more

I really enjoy this place. While the service may be hit or miss, I have always seen fresh items on the salad bar. The only complaint I see is the soup area- gets kind of gross looking after its been sitting there all day. May need to change out containers periodically throughout the day to maintain cleanliness. Great place! I've eaten here twice now since I moved here. The salad bar is wonderful - very fresh and diverse ingredients. The soups are delicious; I've tried Mama Mia chicken, Tuscan tomato, vegetable beef, and Santa Fe chicken, and all were very tasty. The taco bar is very good. I really enjoyed eating here with my family. My two year old ate free which was wonderful since there is a variety to chose from that she was able to pick and choose, and she ate plate after plate of finger foods, and pizza. The food was fresh and the staff was friendly. When they ran out of whip cream for the desert section, I let someone know and within seconds someone came out of the kitchen and refilled it. This was one of the best salad bars that I have been to in years. I found the food to be relatively fresh, and tasteful. The reason why I have it only three stars, is because of the lack of sanitation. Half of the dishes were poorly washed and still had food on both the plates and silverware. You are able to find clean dishes, you just might have to go through a few dishes first. So besides the lack of thorough dish washing, this souper salad was a good place to eat and had lots to choose from. read more

Been going here for years. This is my wifes favorite place that meets her health diet requirements and what makes her happy makes me happy.

This is a buffet-style soup and salad bar. The food is okay, but bring your own drinks! I am not kidding. When you pre-pay for the buffet, you order your drinks at the counter. I have been there twice lately and I was almost finished eating before they delivered my drink. If you bring a companion, bring an extra bottle of water for her/him. Also learn the Heimlech Maneuver in case you see a patron choking on food for lack of a drink. read more

VERY UPSET! The food and service was great however we got coupons online for a discount that was valid until 3/13 and it was 3/11. Once waiting in the line to pay before entering, we were told that the boss had decided not to use that coupon anymore and they could give us a dollar off each adult. It was nice to have a compensation but not acceptable to falsely advertise. After having driven there and planned to eat on a certain budget then denied, I would definitely not recommend this place just because basically conned us into thinking one thing and delivered another, there are other buffet places I will be trying instead. read more

This is usually a good place to stop but today we had multiple issues which was very disappointing. Had to wait to be helped at front as no one was there for several minutes. Then several items were empty or stale or old looking. Talked to a server to see if we could see a manager but non available at that time. Prices have gone up and food quality has gone down. Took my family of five boys and got out for under $40 tip included!!! $7.50 for adults, $5 for children 7-11, $3.50 for children 3-7 and children 2 and under are free which is a great deal because my 2 year old out ate us all. So many options for even my pickiest eaters. I had a wonderful fresh salad and if things were empty they were soon refilled. I had a baked potato that was small but perfectly cooked and super hot. My kids enjoyed the tacos and mac and cheese and of course the blueberry and gingerbread muffins. They went back for seconds and came home quite full and begging to go there again tomorrow. My husband is not really a salad lover but had soup (there were 5 different kinds), cornbread, potato, pizza and spaghetti. Really a wonderful option for a family. The food was good but the customer service was atrocious. I seriously wanted to "mom talk" the server and say "spit out your gum". It took over 10 minutes to get drinks, they were extremely slow to refill, and the server seriously said nothing except "what can I get you to drink?" The WHOLE time. No, "thanks" "can I get you anything else", NOTHING. She did hand me a card that says she appreciates tips. I am big on tipping, my sister is in the service industry, but this is the first time I resented it. Its a buffet! The only thing you are getting me is a drink, and you took 10 minutes to get it! Nonetheless, it says if you don't have cash the server will put it on your debit card for you. I think about not tipping (probably the 2nd time in my life) and so I time it. After 10 minutes of sitting there, with no drink and my debit card on the table, I get up to go. I still sort of feel bad about not tipping (those darn southern manners) so I hunt her down. There's no way to politely say this, but eating here was a great disappointment. There is no fresh in anything that is served, from a can or from a bag. The wait staff was much to busy talking amongst each other or goofing off in general to fill any part of the buffet much less people's drinks. I would not recommend this place at all. The salad bar was ok, a lot of variety but the hot bar was a complete mess. I had to keep asking my server if they can refill the bread and the soups multiple times. What's the point in getting a baked potato if all the topping are gonna be empty. 2 stars is pretty accurate. It's a great concept and they have a few other options to consider. However the freshness of the options and choices could use some extra help. One of the few Souper Salads still remaining, this is the best one I've been to. The owner is incredibly friendly and conscientious. The evening/weekend manager is too. Every once in awhile they get overwhelmed by the crowds and the servers are hit and miss, but if you like a good salad bar it's hard to beat Souper Salad. It's Soup or Soup here, guys. The only thing good besides the soup was the ice cream. We bought our meals and proceeded to get our food and when we tried to sit down there were no tables available... We were halfway through dessert before our waitress even introduced herself and asked what we were drinking. The salad was soggy, the dressing was questionable, the bacon was fake. We also witnessed a child drop two containers of spoons on the floor, and put them back for people to use; all while no one said anything. My review is for my experience today. While eating with my granddaughter there was a couple with a service dog. They were leaving and the service dog was attacked by a dog that jumped out of its pickup. The couple brought the dog in and the soupersalad staff took care of the distraught woman and her service dog. The guy took off with his dog before a license plate could be wrote down. Went with my family on a Saturday it was awful. Tables full of dirty plates, and they were out of everything but the salads . I even ordered chicken that took 15 min and it was burnt. I usually love this place so I came back on Tuesday and when I spoke to the manager about the service on Saturday he merely said "we had a lot going on".that really made me feel unsure of how this trip would be. Then we went to get our plates and after searching for a clean plate in the stack of 50 + plates we found a couple. That was the 2nd sign that we should have walked out. On Sunday, 09/18/16, my wife, daughter and I ate at the Souper Salads in Lubbock, TX. The moment we entered the restaurant I could tell this place was well ran. The atmosphere was delightful. The place was clean and the restrooms were not only clean but smelled clean. The food and service was great. We live in New Braunfels, Tx. We have to travel to either Austin or San Antonio to eat at a Souper Salads. There are not many left since they are closing stores. Maybe if they operated more like the Lubbock store they could stay in business! read more
