I really appreciated that during our initial interview Stephanie took time to understand what areas of my home I wanted to prioritize and talked through how we could get the most done. She wasn't there to just bill a lot of hours, but encouraged me to work on rooms and areas ahead of our scheduled sessions and mapped out a plan for me ahead of each of them. My husband and I were trying to get our house in order ahead of having our first child so we tackled the kitchen, laundry room, living room, den, walk-in master closet, and multiple assorted smaller closets throughout the house. I had budgeted and planned for Stephanie to help me for an entire day and in just three hours, we'd completed all 3 things on my list - home office, pantry and garage. I called Steph to come help me when I saw that she had started this small business. I had considered a personal organizer a few years ago and was blown away by the cost of them, as well as the limited expertise that each person had--"i only do this" or "i only help for this many hours." Since having someone help you go through your things felt like a luxury, I didn't move forward with it then and continued to try to organize on my own. Obviously I never reached optimal organization on my own and have always kept this desire in the back of my mind---until Steph started S.O. this year. I wanted to support her new business and I wanted to see if she could truly help me with my problems. I just moved into my apartment and Steph drove up to Dallas two weeks after--to be honest, she walked in and was confused as to why I needed her since everything seemed to be organized. LET ME TELL YOU---YOU DO NOT NEED TO HAVE YOUR CRAP EVERYWHERE TO NEED ORGANIZATIONAL SERVICES! My shit was where it was supposed to be, there was just TOO MUCH of it. I talked to her about my concerns and desires---1. donate as much as possible, 2. empty out an extra dresser (one person does not need two dressers and an entire closet), 3. garage, 4. bathroom, and 5. craft closet. We tackled them ALL in less than 2 days, including chaperoned trips to the Container Store and WalMart/Target for additional storage bins (bc those places are OVERWHELMING). Steph not only gave me tips on how to organize/donate items (by size not by emotional attachment), she helped me to set up areas of my home so that it is EASY for me to stay organized. We got rid of OVER 300 items, which Steph made sure to inventory throughout the process so that she could provide me with a ALPHABETICALLY-ORGANIZED AND TYPED list for my taxes (*mind blown*). My crafts were all under my desk area (I work from home) and it looked so tacky there. Steph was able to help me get rid of so much stuff and organize so many miscellaneous items that we cleared out an entire closet and were able to move my crafts into it. My workspace (and living room) looked so much neater and organized! The garage is completely organized and my camping gear is easy to access now. My closet is organized by work clothes and winter clothes, and I was able to clear out an entire dresser to use for linens, jewelry, and blankets. She alphabetized my DVDs and we organized my book shelves by category rather than just random. My bathroom now has magnetic tape to hold my bobby pins, tweezers, etc. and there are small bins to hold my daily contact lenses in an easy-to-grab fashion. Steph completely changed my life and definition of 'home.' I have lived in over 10 apartments in my lifetime and this is truly the most AT HOME and comfortable I have felt ever. Where my stuff is makes total sense for how they are used and my stuff is not overflowing out of places! My home life is so much easier and that is exactly what I wanted from this experience--to make things simpler and more intuitive for me so i spend more time and energy doing things that matter!!! Stephanie had the best follow through at the end of our time together, ensuring that I took my items to the donation drop off (not just stacked up in my garage for "someday") and had a small area designated for "things to do" in my living room. I have since done 4 of the 6 to-do's and I have added to my organization by buying a few more organizers and materials---but most importantly, everything is STILL organized. The way we organized everything was so intuitive and made so much sense that it has STAYED organized! That takes skill and a lot of listening on the part of the organizer. Steph truly listened to what I wanted and was able to talk to me about them so that we could come up with organization strategies that make sense for me---that's customization and caring. The experience was amazing and I would absolutely do it again. If you're on the fence about spending money on organization services, I am here to tell you to just go for it. I would highly recommend it--think of how much time and money you will save knowing where everything is, knowing what you have before buying more, and getting rid of unnecessary/duplicated items. Best money I ever spent! I am 4 months pregnant with my second child and I was looking around my house a few weeks ago and had a complete meltdown and I felt like things were everywhere with no rhyme or reason. I knew I needed someone to help me get my house together. Stephanie was quick to respond to my email inquiry and we got scheduled for a day/time right away. When she arrived, she was so warm and friendly, it was like having a friend come over to help you with your home organizing. I took her on a tour around my house to show her the most troublesome areas and she was completely undaunted and super optimistic. We ended up cleaning out my master bedroom closet, guest bedroom closet, which had my things, my husbands things, m daughter's things and just some miscellaneous storage items everywhere, my daughter's other closet, my downstairs baby closet, my pantry and she even helped me organize my overhead garage storage which I had just installed the week before!! At the end of the 6.5 hour day, she even asked, is there anything else you want to tackle or that I can help you with while I am here? I consider myself a pretty good organizer myself, but Stephanie found areas and spaces for things that I had not even thought of. She even had bins, shelves and containers with her from the container store, all ready for my use if needed, which I definitely did! She powered through the entire day and got everything I wanted accomplished and more! What would have taken me about 1-2 weeks to complete, with her help, took only a few hours. In fact, after she left, I found myself looking around the house thinking, what else could she come back and help me with, lol! I found some other places that have been bugging me for awhile, so I know that I will be calling her back soon and also referring her to my mom and sister-n-law who could use her help as well.
