The new Houston franshise owner, Joe Ali, is a rude ill-mannered child. Closet Factory corporate is aware of how Joe treats his employees and customers but refuses to acknowledge the complaints. Phone calls and emails will go unanswered. There's gaps in the corners and edges weren't trimmed properly. They installed silver hinge caps which didnt match the rest of the hardware. Just flat out refused to fix. Don't believe the 5 star reviews... they're fake or paid. I regularly leave reviews, both positive and constructive, and I always strive to be fair and thorough. Unfortunately, my experience with Closet Factory fell short, and I hope sharing it will help others make an informed decision. I hired them to design and install custom cabinetry in my home office and had also planned to move forward with a second project (a master closet). While the cabinets themselves look great and the final adjustments were eventually completed, the overall experience was frustrating due to poor communication and avoidable delays. Before the project began, I confirmed key details like the trim style and grommet installation. Courtney, the designer, also personally measured my printers to ensure they would fit in the cabinet layout. Despite this, on installation day, the installer was unaware of the grommets or trim changes, and one of my printers didn't fit, even though its dimensions had been reviewed during the design phase. From there, I had to follow up repeatedly over the course of several weeks to get updates and next steps. Emails often went unanswered until I followed up again. While the team did eventually replace the drawer, install the grommet, fix the trim, and provide a new printer that fit, and I genuinely appreciated those efforts, the amount of persistence required on my end was disappointing. The most surprising part was being told the company would not move forward with my master closet project because I had allegedly been "unhappy" with the office install. At no point did I express dissatisfaction with the product, only frustration with the lack of timely communication and coordination. I remained respectful and patient throughout, even after being left without responses for long stretches. I really wanted this to be a great experience. But based on the lack of proactive communication and the amount of effort I had to invest just to get the agreed-upon work completed, I cannot recommend Closet Factory. read more

Disappointed with Closet Factory's "Lifetime Warranty" - Beware! We had our closets installed by Closet Factory just last year, and we're already seeing major issues. The corners of the units are splitting apart (see photo), which clearly indicates poor craftsmanship or material quality. We reached out to Closet Factory under the assumption that their "lifetime warranty" would cover something so basic and recent. Shockingly, we were told that in order to fix their own defective work, we'd need to pay a $195 "roll-out fee" just to have someone come assess and repair it. That's not a warranty -- that's a service charge disguised as one. Their response? "This can be fixed. We charge a roll-out fee of $195 for the installers to cover any assessment, on-the-spot fixes, and installations done after the first installation is completed." So what exactly does their "lifetime warranty" cover? Apparently not much -- or at least not without charging you again. What's worse is this company is partnered with Costco, which we trusted for its reputation and customer protection. This experience doesn't reflect the Costco standards we expected. If you're considering Closet Factory because of the "lifetime warranty" -- think twice. That promise seems to come with a price tag. Very disappointed. read more

I give Closet Factory 2 stars for doing a great job on my closets two years ago. I called them again a few weeks ago to do more closets in my house, and the design consultant did a wonderful job. However, I am disappointed that after my meeting with the consultant, no one has gotten back to me about what to do next. I emailed them, and they haven't responded either. No calls, no emails. This is disappointing when I'm trying to work with them. But the lack of communication will obviously not enable me to do business with them this time around. I was in contact with them to update them on schedule through October 2024. In November, got an email that the Houston Closet Factory was "reopening under new management." Called them and they said, "we're not giving you your money back, we're a different company. You'll need to dispute the charge with your credit card company." No, "we'd like to help" no, "we're sorry." New owner Joe Ali was completely dismissive. Avoid them at all cost!! read more

Closet Factory in Houston just finished doing work at my house I'm amazed at the quality and professionalism. Also, it seems I now have twice as much storage space. I took before and after pics of my craft room and guest closet. Trevion was a fantastic salesman. He knows his profession well. He listened, designed the spaces, and provided answers. He was there every step of the way including on site for installation. The two man installation crew paid attention to details, they were friendly, and left no mess for me to clean. I haven't seen service like this in quite a few years. I'm lining up my next projects. This is a company worth doing business with. We had an amazing experience with Closet Factory! We were looking to add cabinets and countertops to our laundry room. Maximize our storage and make the design flow with our home. Our in home consultation was great! Our consultant, Emily was so professional and knowledgeable that it made the process so easy and pleasant. She had a real feel for what we wanted to do and came up with some great designs. Loved our visit to the showroom. They gave us multiple samples to take home so we could ensure we got the best matches possible. You would never think our laundry room wasn't part of our original build. All our design and engineering questions and concerns were answered promptly. Installation crew was professional, on time and courteous. They did the installation timely with quality workmanship. They even made a suggestion about a handle placement that made much more sense. We can't say enough about how much we love our new laundry room. read more

We purchased the Closet Factory cabinets in several rooms in our home in 2010/2011. A material factor in our decision to use The Closet Factory was the express warranty in the Terms and Conditions of the contract which stated: "Your custom system has a lifetime guarantee against defects in materials and workmanship under normal wear and tear. However, please do not try to move or disassemble your system, as it will invalidate the guarantee." "This Agreement and all documents incorporated by reference constitute the entire agreement. No other agreements, oral or written, regarding the work to be performed or the price to be paid under this Agreement exists between the parties." We have had 5 service calls over a 12-year period to realign doors, replace 1 hinge and replace a magnet on a drawer - all at no charge. Now, the adhesive holding the melamine to the particle board is no longer holding and the melamine is warping. We called for service on October 4, 2022, and was told this is caused by normal wear and tear and therefore not covered by warranty. After several text messages, we finally began talking with the owner via email. We explained that the Life Time Warranty which includes normal wear and tear is expressly written in our contract and was the material factor for us choosing the Closet Factory product. Had that language not been included in the contract, we would not have executed the contract. He was not part of the original contract negotiations. He said his lawyer told him it was an obvious error and he did not have to honor the warranty. He did not respond to our last email where we said we did not feel this issue was closed. As of now, the doors are still warped. There is no reference in the contract to allow Closet Factory to change or modify what is written in the agreement executed by us and the Closet Factory. read more

We went through Julie Green to custom build a dresser for our master bedroom. We had met in the past with other designers from other places but I can honestly say none of them really understood what we were trying to do like she did. It was nothing complex, just something to take up this long wall we have, but she really listened and had great suggestions that allowed us to get exactly what we wanted! We got a variety of drawer inserts between the lucite dividers and velvet lined ones to jewelry inserts and unlined ones for general use. While their main jobs are closets, I can fully vouch for the workmanship they committed to our design. They cleaned up after themselves, fixed any minor issues we saw, and now we have this perfect piece of furniture for our room. We got the marble top done by a renovation place since we wanted a very specific look, but I'm sure we could have done it through closet factory if we wanted to. They have tons of customization options, I would just advise you price the options out to know what is worth it for you and what you could pass on. read more

The company got back to me in a timely manner, and was able to send someone to come to our home on a Saturday morning. The free in-home consultation was great! The consultant Diana understood our ideas and saw the vision that we had for our wardrobe unit. She was able to measure everything, and render a drawing right away. Being able to have a professional visit our home, was an important factor to us (in comparison to being in a store, and talking to an associate). Her suggestions about the trim and design were helpful to our exact specifications. She helped to set our expectations on the look of the wardrobe and the price of it. Everything was handled professionally from the contracts, deposits, and scheduling the install dates. When it was finally time for installation, the workers arrived on schedule, and they were young. They worked quickly, but they were not very careful. They did not show me the service agreement until after they packed up the room, swept the room, and were done. On the agreement, it said that they were supposed to use drop cloths during the installation. When I asked them if they used drop cloths, they said they did, but I noticed from one of my pictures that they did not use use drop cloths nor did I remember them using any. Safety-wise from the same picture, the drill is on top of the cabinet above their heads -- which can be dangerous. I also told them that it seemed like they were dropping a lot of items, and I can hear them from the next room. If it wasn't for the walk-thru, they would have forgotten a box of nails, a can of paint thinner, and a rag inside the cabinets. After they left, I saw damages and scratches on the wood floor. When, my husband came home later, he saw that the pulls were not leveled. We communicated to Diana about our concerns, and the company was able to address them right away. They are sending the production manager to look over the damages, and to fix the pulls. We love our wardrobe, the quality is really nice! We love being able to organize our home with it. We would work with Houston Closet Factory again, but would request more experienced workers for the installation next time. read more

We picked Closet Factory because they are the Costco vendor for closet installation. They were responsive in sending out someone to do the consult and quote and it all seemed great. We agreed on a design and paid the deposit, scheduled the work. That was the last time it was good or easy. From there it was a constant hassle of forgotten details, errors and miscommunication. When they finally came to install the closet and garage cabinets, they brought a wrong set of plans somehow, in spite of the fact that we only approved one set that was correct, and installed both places incorrectly. When we realized this and sought to remedy the error, this again sent us on a path of false assurances and problems. I could not believe how bad the customer service was throughout the whole process. I had to contact Costco finally to get them to respond to me to find out when my closet would be fixed and the garage finished--a job that was supposed to take 4 days, 5 at the most, ended up taking 2 full weeks and that was after getting Costco involved. They never offered to take any money off for the errors and inconvenience and despite leaving several messages for the manager, he never called me back. I would NEVER use this business again and am very alarmed that Costco would continue to associate with them. For the very high price, we expected better customer service. read more

I have used two prior companies and selected closed factory from my neighborhood monthly magazine. I was blown away by the professionalism of Allison Fruge, so much that I cancelled all other consultations for this project. She helped me reach the best design with my price point. She was very patient and spent the evening going over designs and pricing. Then it was time for the install. Allen arrived on time and ready to work. His attention to every detail was outstanding. He worked tirelessly to perfect this install. I was very pleased with the outcome. Allison called and said she was coming out to see the final product and make sure I was satisfied. I could not believe the design consultant would return to review the finished product. She and Allen blew me away with their attention to detail and their customer service skills. Let me tell you about Julie - it's not even just about the amazing, organized, custom cabinets we are now proud owners of, but the patience and kindness Julie has given our family during this time of becoming new clients to Closet Factory. We joined Julie on this closet adventure right when COVID took over the world. We were scheduled then cancelled due to this monstrosity we call COVID. That was over two years ago! Fast forward to the end of 2021, and we were done with our closet situation. I refuse to get rid of clothes and shoes and the husband nearly moved out because there wasn't enough room for him with my ever bulging clothing situation. Jazmin was beyond professional, prompt with her proposal & design, and even helped us to get our installation done early by keeping an eye on cancelations/openings in the installation schedule. Best of all, there were other companies who bid on our project that made some of our ideas seem impossible (essentially maximizing every possible inch in the closet space), and Jazmin definitely had the eye for making the space work within the confines of our budget. He is sending the drawings that were never received and even offered to come out himself. Our experience with Closet Factory has been terrific so far! The designer, Casey, came out to the house to help me with two small closets for the kids. She went over everything in great detail from materials and pricing to scheduling and construction and was very professional and personable. After seeing some of the amazing work she's done in other homes and learning more about all the different areas they can improve, we decided to look at other areas in the house... the master closet, laundry room, and garage! She designed everything on her 3D program so we can actually see what the rooms would look like. The price was about what I would have expected and I know it's going to be really good quality. I'm going over some final details with my husband (he's so excited about his garage) and will be moving forward with the projects soon. We had a very positive experience with the 'Closet Factory'. We had their system installed in the master closet of our new house in February of 2014. The designer who worked with us, Carolyn Lowrie, was excellent. Her design made made it possible to build the closet the way we had envisioned it. Our closet is only 82.5 inches wide, yet, we did not want to install an open hanging system. We prefer doors in front of our hanging units. Carolyn listened to our needs, inspected our closet in the townhouse we lived in during construction, and translated our ideas and wishes into her design. It was perfect. Her design utilizes the space to an optimum, it looks great and it is still a spacious closet. The installation also went well. - When she came to our house for the estimate, we were close to the move-in date but had not decided on a closet system. She was able to work our order in quickly due to a cancellation. Delivery and installation happened as scheduled. The two installers worked all day, were careful with the product they delivered and did a good job. There was one issue afterwards. The sliding door to the closet was damaged during installation but the company sent a carpenter who was skilled and experienced. He repaired the door perfectly. Closet Factory carried the costs for repair and repainting of the door. We are very pleased with our master closet. read more
