Kitchen and Bath Remodeling and Accessories

Kitchen and Bath Remodeling and Accessories

(8 reviews)

We recently (May/June 2022) had our guest bathroom remodeled by "Kitchen and Bath Remodeling and…read moreAccessories." As always, they did a great job, very dependable, on time, and on schedule. We have been very pleased with Roberto's technical team. We had a bathtub removed and replaced with a frameless glass walk-in shower. We picked out all the new material with the help of Doris (Roberto's wife and store manager). All materials were selected from their showroom. Their processes from beginning to completion are easy to understand in their quote (no surprises). They replaced the old countertop with a wonderful new granite countertop and under counter sink. All plumbing, faucets, and light fixtures were also replaced. We designed the niche, shower bench, grab bars, and plumbing controls to suit our needs. We found that on both projects they were professional, flexible, and very helpful while custom designing the project the way we wanted it to be. Two years ago, they remodeled our master bathroom. Here is our review at that time: We love our remodeled walk-in shower. Roberto came out and we explained what we wanted, and he made some great recommendations. It was clear from the start that he knows the construction business and his prices are very reasonable. Roberto has great teams. Our team members (Julian and Israel) were professional, hard-working, and honest. They would ask questions to make sure the job was done exactly the way we wanted. They kept everything covered and the floors protected throughout the project and cleaned up every night when they finished. One of many great things about "Kitchen and Bath Remodeling and Accessories" is that they do "turn-key" jobs. The same guys do it all, from tile work to minor plumbing, mirrors, to the frameless glass. This means a lot when you have the same crew each day and their skill sets are this extensive. Everyone should visit their store at 16324 Stuebner Airline Road, Spring, TX 77379. They have many material samples, including accessories and model areas. Doris is very helpful and professional. We highly recommend Roberto and his team. We will have more projects for them.

While we are very happy with the final results, getting to the so-called "finish line" proved to be…read morea bit of a challenge. That is the reason for this update. This remodeling project was begun around July 21, 2022. About three and one-half weeks later, the job was listed as complete and we were once again able to use this bathroom. However, during the following week, we had to have someone come out again to make repairs: hot/cold water in the shower was flipped; hole along the tile and baseboard discovered; silicone was coming off the niche area in the shower; caulking was incomplete around the perimeter of the shower floor. Once those repairs were made, we thought that finally we were done. Nope. The paint on the ceiling started to peel above the shower. A lot. Finally had the painter return to repair that and we thought, once again, we were done. Apparently not, since we were told the ceiling was "fixed," but something different was evidently told to Roberto. After another week, the entire ceiling showed pieces of paint peeling off. Called for another repair. This time, Roberto came out and told us that the ceiling hadn't been done right in the first place and our only option was to tear out the entire ceiling and start over at an additional cost of $450. That did not sound like a reasonable idea, so it was then suggested that the ceiling texture be redone instead and painting would be done with eggshell (semi-gloss) paint rather than latex paint. We accepted that solution and waited for it to be fixed, finally. Painter came out and did the work at the end of September, but in total we were once again out of that bathroom for 5 days waiting for texture, primer and paint to dry. However, this seems to have truly repaired the problem - thank goodness. Then I get emailed an invoice for $350 for the ceiling repair. Wow. Paid that invoice on September 27, 2022: almost 10 weeks after the job was begun. Unfortunately for Roberto and his crews, though, he was what you can call "penny wise and pound foolish." We had informed every contractor that gave us a bid for this bathroom that based on our experience, we would then move forward for the really big job -- a complete remodel of the master bathroom -- a much larger and more expensive project. Because of the 6-week drag after "completion" and delay due to the ceiling repairs (along with other fixes) and the $350 invoice we received, we did not even consider a bid from Kitchen & Bath Remodeling for our master bathroom. Chose another contractor instead.

Kyra Homes Kitchen & Bath Remodeling - Lionel actually had the gall to say this was ok and that quartz slabs are naturally crooked.

Kyra Homes Kitchen & Bath Remodeling

I am writing this to warn other homeowners about our experience with Lionel Lopez and Kyra Homes…read more We hired them for a bathroom remodel, and it was a complete disaster. Lionel talks a big game about being an expert in remodels but the "workmanship" was some of the worst I've ever seen. We dealt with crooked tiles, grout lines that were completely uneven, and a quartz countertop that wasn't level. Lionel tried to gaslight us at every complaint to say we were too demanding and to say the quartz is "naturally crooked". Lionel tried to "rework" things several times, but even the fixes were barely acceptable. It felt like they were learning as they went on our dime. The biggest issue was the hidden work. After they "finished", 2 out of 3 bathroom sinks leaked immediately (requiring rework). We were so concerned that we stopped the project before they could finish the shower and bathtub. It's a good thing we did because we had a licensed plumber come out to inspect everything, and they found a huge list of code violations. The waterproofing was so completely compromised that the shower pan and drain would have leaked into our walls, causing massive damage and mold. Their solution for all waterproofing was simply more silicone grout which is ridiculous. I am including pictures here of the work they thought was acceptable. Please note all the screws going through the waterproofing barrier, the dirt they used to fill in the space under the drain, lack of redguard, and the fact they didn't even take the plastic peel off the metal drain cover before caulking it directly to the tile. It's insane they thought that would seal water in a shower floor. I'm also including pics of the crooked quartz countertop, the crooked and uneven tile, and ugly attempt at bead board. Keep in mind, this is all stuff that Lionel says was good and blames us for being too demanding about. I wish I could add more but I am limited by character count here. We eventually had to hire a real professional company to come in, tear out every single thing Kyra Homes did, and start over from scratch to make it safe and up to code. This was an incredibly stressful and expensive lesson. We are currently in the process of suing Lionel and Kyra Homes to get money back because we feel scammed. Please, stay away from Lionel and Kyra Homes at all costs!

We now have a FUNCTIONAL, BEAUTIFUL kitchen AND TWO bathrooms. The design help we got was so creative and enabled us to use some old wood for open shelving to keep some of the antique house vibe, but the white cabinets give the spaces a clean, fresh feel without feeling modern. The drawers open ALL the way, the cabinets don't slam shut, the trim is LOVELY...DO spring for the crown. It makes a WORLD of difference. (They have a ton of colors...I just liked the white.) BTW, this is not my first experience with Premier Cabinets....My daughter's house flooded in Harvey, and she got replacement cabinets from Premier. That was the first. Then they remodeled their 1960s house and got their cabinets again from Premier. That's why I went with them. The cabinet quality is really nice, the drawers are good quality, the trim looks amazing, the color and style choices are myriad... Plus, they're nice people to work with! They were SO patient with me when we ended up with structural issues and had to wait a LONG time for installation. When Victor and his buddy came to install, they were SUCH a pleasure to work with. They pointed out one drawer that had gotten damaged, and had a replacement before I knew it. They set up their cutting space outside, so didn't fill my house with sawdust. They cleaned up after themselves and made sure EVERYTHING was in perfect order! It all ended up SO nice! I'll add pictures once my old-wood shelving is installed.

Hindsight, pull out drawers in pantry cabinets....but that was my rookie mistake. Funny thing, i found my design drawings from years ago....and i remember changing my layout after looking at the design for a day or two. I am glad i did. The team was great when i made the change (before i ordered my cabinets). Overall, no complaints...
