After researching several other companies and private contractors, we decided to collaborate with SpaceManager Closets to create our study, master, and game room displays, bookcases, entertainment center, and closet. Despite not being the cheapest, the three key factors that influenced our decision were the impressive displays in the showroom, local manufacturing facility located behind the showroom, and the lifetime transferable warranty. Kameha, the friendly front desk representative, made us feel welcome and proudly guided us through the facilities. We had never encountered a company so eager to showcase its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility! The showroom displays catered to various room upgrades, were diverse, and visually stunning. Throughout the design phase, we had an exceptional experience with Chris K., our designer. He possessed an artistic flair, humility, and a customer-centric approach, never exerting pressure on us. His keen eye for space and attention to detail resulted in designs that not only met our requirements but also exuded aesthetic appeal. Working with Chris was a delightful experience! Brian, Chris's supervisor, was also incredibly flexible and played a crucial role in finalizing the deal. He readily accommodated all our requests and ensured a seamless payment process. Wendy and Angela in the back office were exceptionally communicative, respectful, and accommodating. They handled all our communication needs with precision, providing timely emails, phone calls, follow-ups, and re-schedules. The installation was meticulously handled by three crews, each responsible for a distinct room. Their enthusiasm and well-organized approach set the tone for the project. Upon entering, they donned booties, clearly explained the process, and laid out thick cloth sheets and other barriers to prevent dust and debris from falling. Their meticulous attention to detail ensured a flawless installation. Even staying late one evening to complete the job, they cleaned thoroughly after themselves and departed as planned. However, we encountered a few significant delays. The game room cabinet puck lights were delayed due to a lack of timely supplies from a vendor. The glass door was initially damaged and subsequently mishandled by a new employee at the shop. These issues caused the project to drag on for over a month, making it somewhat inconvenient to put all the items back in their rightful places. Despite these setbacks, the company's exemplary handling of the matter and their engagement with us were truly commendable. They helped mitigate the inconvenience and ensured that we were satisfied with the overall project. We would like to personally acknowledge each team member for their exceptional work. Kameha at the front desk, Chris K. the designer, Brian the design manager, Wendy and Angela who diligently coordinated the installation and communicated with everyone involved, Daniel the installation manager, and the most important people, the installation crews: The Three Jesus': Jesus Hernandez, Jesus Cruz, and Jesus Marquez; Pedro; Yiovanni; Abraham; and Joseph. They were all very detail-oriented, meticulous, courteous, and experts in their craft. When asked, each of them expressed their pride in working for a good company that genuinely cares for its customers. Our calls to Wendy, Angela, and Daniel to address a few minor issues after the installation always resulted in positive and prompt responses and service. We are very satisfied with the overall project so far and are enjoying the results. We plan to engage SpaceManager again for other buildouts. Their cabinets turn yellow and look cheap. They do not communicate effectively and their front desk staff are 2 unprofessional young girls who should not be the face of the business if you call or visit their office . Do not even try to order extra parts after the sell as you will be forced to work thru said front desk girls who do not provide the proper information and will waste your time then will act like it's your fault and behave as thou they did nothing wrong. All this for pressed cardboard. Shop elsewhere. Not worth it. Never again! Update: The company is Space Manager on W. Little York (formerly Space Man off of TC Jester). As you can see the company is acting as thou I am confused over the company in which I had this experience. I am 100% confident that this is the correct company and their response is a way of avoiding accountably. I am also 100% done with them and will not be reaching out to them as requested as I am no longer in need of their services but I do wish to share my experience as it may be helpful to others. read more

I was looking all over for a custom closet. I looked into 3 companies and finally settled on Space Manager off of 290. I worked with Al on the design. He is very knowledgeable and was able to give me a rendering with my vision. It was very easy to understand the cost and where I needed keep or cut. The selection and choices were quite plentiful from LED lights, two tone shelves, jewelry drawer, and glass shelves. I was able to make this my dream closet. He was very accessible and accommodating and helping me throughout this process. I needed the update quickly since we were renovating majority of the house and I was living out of packed boxes. So I asked to see if I can get it done less than a month. Luckily at that time they said they were able to. Now here is where some issues during the process. So I wanted a cedar backing for my closet and during to booking process the system crashed so the notes were lost on my cedar and two tone shelves. So the first day they can to install. I asked about it and noticed it. That was when between the installers and office mgrs they found the issue. This is where it could have turned bad but they were professional and able to fix it. The redid the entire project to the right color and specs. It did take another 2 weeks then expected but turned out amazing. The installers were really nice. They took care of the house not leaving it messy or dirty. They checked and ensured that the closet was the way I wanted it. The professionalism of installers was above and beyond. The last day they cleaned the entire close and made it sparkle and just beautiful. Over all I love the closet. I know there is always challenges but it is how the company handles it. They not only fixed it and made me a life long customer. I am convincing my mom to get one too that is how amazing this company is. read more

Tried to do business with them twice. First time tried to purchase accessories for a garage slat wall. Not able to order online or over the phone so had to drive to warehouse. Spent and hour working through their clunky system only to be told " the guy" was at lunch and no one could get my item from the warehouse. STRIKE ONE Promised to deliver the next day. Nothing ever showed up, no phone call no email nothing STRIKE TWO decided to give them one more chance for a three closet remodel project. Designer came out on Saturday but wanted us to come yo warehouse ( again) the following Friday to see designs and quote. I asked for design and quote before visit and was promised by Wednesday night( 5 days later) Wednesday came and went no design or quote. Sent and email and was told she would work on it "tomorrow ". I have quotes and designs from other companies within 24 hours, so again, Space Manager dropped the ball STRIKE THREE If you are looking for a company that makes it easy and does what they promise, then don't use Space Manager Houston. read more

We have a large game room in our townhouse that was really just a wasted space with a lot of empty wall space. Buyers Beware of Space Manager Custom Closets! I had two $5,000 each white bedroom custom dresser/bookcases and living room built in cabinetry installed by Space Man, now known as Space Manager. All the edge banding has turned yellow, and the cabinets look old and as if a two-tone color (white with yellow trim) after only 5 years. (Pictures attached.) Space Manager's Michelle Levine will not stand behind their warranty to replace the yellowed edge banding that their own sales manager, Jara Nwabuisi, admitted it was defective. This also happened to someone I referred Space Manager to for a built-in custom living room white cabinet. ALL the edge banding around their Space Manager system turned yellow. I would like to update my review instead of removing it because I believe that the sign of a really great company is how they handle conflict resolution. I received a phone call from the Sales Manager, Jara a few days after my install. Before this call, I was DONE. Nothing could've changed my mind but then...Jara Called. She was calm, kind and listened to my concerns regarding the installation. She was able to reassure me that this was not the typical experience with SM and after having so many people refer me to this company in the first place, I decided to give it another go. I already had a contract to do my office so after resolving the wall bed issues, I proceeded. Jara came out and remeasured and thoroughly discussed what I wanted for the office. The second time around the installers showed up on time, worked hard and completed the job within the scheduled time frame. They did a great job and instantly, we were happy with our purchase. The quality and materials are truly very nice in quality and style. Things happen and I am glad that I gave Space Manager a second chance because we are happy with both the wall bed, built in shelving and the office. I really wanted some more functionality out of my pantry (included my before & after pics below) & Jara was amazing in helping me design exactly what I needed. Pull out trash, drawers, wine fridge, countertop, and shelving! I glammed it up with the wallpaper and Jara showed me the black gloss finish which was perfect. 5 stars because I am in absolute LOVE with my master closet. I adore and admire it daily. Michael D. was my designer for my master closet. He listened to what I wanted and gave feedback if my imagination was too outrageous. I provided pictures and examples from my pinterest board, because what girl doesn't have photos of their dream closet. Michael made it come true. I chose Space man over other closet competitors such as closet by design, container store, California closet, and ikea for numerous reasons. As you see, I did my research. First off, space man is locally Houston. I have a thing for local businesses to begin with but I love their TRUE life time warranty and customer satisfaction. If my closet inventory changed or wish to make changes, they are easy to work with. So far I love the finished project so I haven't requested any alterations. In addition, if I move, the warranty will remain with the new homeowners, therefore increasing the value of my home. Their prices are comparable and competitive for the value of their work. They were also able to do more to my closet such as adding double drawers, valet rods, belt racks, tie racks, and most importantly for me was a stealth lock to the drawers. The wood finishing/color selections were perfect to go with our home. I also selected the hardware for the drawers and cabinets. You have the options of providing your own hardware but I just went with their selections. They were also able to work in my time frame to get the project done in 2 weeks. However, small hiccup was when my fogged drawers and glass cabinets didn't make it in time for the install but they came in the following week. The process was quite painless, easy, and smooth. Great and consistent communication with Michael. I invested a lot in my master closet and Michael gave his expertise that I took. They charge for closet tear out of the existing closet and professional touch up. I did my own tear out to save some money and just payed for the touch up and paint. The painter came a week before install. At the day of install, 2 guys showed up at 10 am and worked till about 4 pm. They even cleaned up nicely and left the closet smelling like citrus. 1 returned the following week for about 3 hours to install the special ordered drawers and cabinets. I have officially unpacked completely after over a year moving into my home to a practical and functional closet. I have shown off my closet and have been raving it to friends and family. Spaceman just finished our Master walk-in and two secondary bedroom reach-ins. The designer knew what she was doing and made some adjustments on the spot when I reviewed and we discussed the design. We were able to match our cabinet color for no additional cost. The cost came in right where I expected it to be. The installation was scheduled ahead of time and all responsibilities were clearly defined (I bought the paint and cleaned the closets out completely; they did the tear out, painted, installed and cleaned up). The schedule was planned and met, and the workers cleaned up perfectly before they left for the day. The results were exactly what was described, planned out and installed. From the very first phone call to Space Man to set up our design appointment to the continuous follow-up after the install they amazed me. I have already told several people about them! Hilary was so professional when she came out to our home for the consultation and worked around our schedule. I recently had SpaceMan do work in my home office. This is the third time I've used them--first for cabinets, file drawers, and counter tops; second for additional cabinets. This time was a slight reconfiguration using mostly existing pieces. I think that type of job is harder than a new installation since everything has to be taken apart then put back together in combination with the new pieces. The entire experience from the time I contacted them to meeting with the designer to approval of the drawing to installation to followup was great. Reviewed all closets and purchased based on the reviews and sales man that came to our home. Cannot give them five stars it's not that we don't like the closet it's just not exactly what we expected though I give total five stars to the installer and to Melissa she did an amazing job trying to make us happy as we could be but the closet is not everything I expected it would be.'and the breakdown came between the sales person the installer and expectations. In my opinion a better business model would be for the salesperson draw the designs and actually meet with the customer to finalize the plans prior to installation that way all expectations could've been met. read more

I should preface this review by saying my husband and I have zero sense of design and are very particular, so we strongly depend on others listening to our needs and essentially reading our minds to make our indescribable dreams come true. This sounds like an impossibly tall order, but Spaceman made it happen, not once but twice. We first purchased a living social voucher in 2012 for a master closet renovation. Our home was built in the 1960s but had walk in closets in each room, however, ours had hanging poles crossed at each corner with a ton of unusable space. We had clothing and shoes occupying two full bedroom closets and two hall closets. I was nervous about attempting to articulate what we might want in such a closet, but my concerns were assuaged the minute my appointment with Bill began. He measured our space, paying attention to sizes of shoes and length of my husband's shirts so he could design a truly custom closet. He drew out his plans, asked me questions to gauge how fancy we wanted to get with the closet (Glass front cabinets? Plain white drawers? Wire baskets? Do you want a small purse drawer and big purse drawer? Shelving for larger bags?) and immediately scheduled our installation appointment. Our closet was complete within one day, from demolition to touch up paint to installation of custom shelving. We could not believe all of that space had been stuffed into that disaster of a closet! Imagine our surprise when we were able to store all clothing and shoes, minus winter coats, in a single closet! Thrilled. We were thrilled. We still ARE thrilled a year later. Our second experience with Spaceman occurred last week, with a kitchen pantry renovation. After one too many jars shattered on my floor due to lack of space, I purchased a second living social voucher and Bill came out again. He asked what our needs were (shelving and pull out drawers to floor? Wine storage? Adjustable shelving for storage of small kitchen appliances?), measured and drew up the plans. My only complaint was that I could not also get the pantry doors replaced to complete the renovation all at once, but this is a service Spaceman simply does not provide. The installation was set for three business days later and took only three hours to install, including touch up paint after demolition. They had an evaluator come by, measure the closet size, and help me choose the configuration, finish, handles, etc. A couple weeks later some contractors came by and installed the closets, and they looked great.
