1st let me say that this place was a surprise to me I was absolutely not looking for this I was heading to Ross and I ran across this truck in the parking lot and what a pleasant surprise it was. The truck is located in the parking lot at Ross off of I 30 in the Walmart shopping center better you can smell it from the highway i swear it smelt so delicious i had to stop i had to stop so all i got today was ribs and oh my gosh they were so falling off the bone delicious i didn't even need the sauce besides the pickles were fresh the bread was soft but the customer service was superb they had 3 individuals there and all 3 gentlemen were informative Friendly and just made you feel absolutely at home you must try this place if you like ribs. The meat was falling off the bone I really did not need the sauce the flavor was infused infused and the portion size was phenomenal I gave them 4 stars only because I wish they had like a side or maybe I missed it but I would have rather had a side like potato salad or macaroni salad called saw something cold on the side but other than that I'll be back the only ribs I've tasted better Was my father's good job fellas

Brisket burger and fries amazing!

Things change. People change. Tables turn. Bridges burn. Ya live & ya learned:…read more I learned this is my fav Q spot in DFW area. I love Q, i grew up cooking on charcoal Websters, & old wood smokers filled with oak food off the coast & in the riparian hills of the Pacific. Chicken, tri tip, etc.. But THIS. IMO. PECAN LODGE IS THEE DEFINITION OF TEXAS Q. All the meat was not too rich, hardy, moist, fall apart, smoke rings & surprisingly i was astounded by the pork rib quality the most. Surprisingly not as salty as i thought especially since ima salty person. Lol Enjoy!

Ordered Turkey, Jalapeño Cheddar Sausage and Mac and Cheese on the 2 meat combo plate. First off, that was $27 which I thought was rather high but with the hype I thought it might be worth it. The turkey was tender and juicy and rather flavorful, except for the end piece of turkey breast (I assume) with the skin side which was extremely tough. The jalapeño cheddar sausage was okay, but it didn't really retain either the jalapeño, cheddar, or the smoky taste which I thought was disappointing. The Mac and Cheese had bacon bits on it which were nice and crispy but the Mac and Cheese wasn't very rich or complex flavor wise, which I found slightly underwhelming. The sauce was super runny and while it had flavor, I never think having to put sauce on stuff to give it flavor is the answer. All that being said, for $27 I wasn't going to leave anything on the plate. The service I thought was rather hands off and I'm surprised nobody came and checked on us although that may be just how things are. The ambiance was cool with old license plates and pictures along with some cool western themed things up on the walls to make it seem warm and homey. All in all, I was left with the feeling that there should've been more and I was kinda disappointed after all the hype I've seen and all the gravitas that the name Pecan Lodge carries with it. I'd say probably a 6.5-7/10 so that lands me at 3 stars because it really didn't feel 4 star worthy.

After getting inside I could tell why. The BBQ smell hits you as you open the door and it smelled sooooo good. They had a giant menu written onto the wall. Some of the meats were sold out. We debated for a bit and then decided to do a group order. Our Group of 7 people ordered the Cattleleack Platter and sides of burnt end beans, potato salad, cole slaw, and Mac and cheese. Oh and don't forget to ask for cornbread too. Inside tey had large tables and benches to sit at and we secured our spot. The food was delicous. The Beef Rib was huge and melted in my mouth. The brisket was amazing and seasoned well. Everything tasted great. Everyone ate til they were full and we still had leftovers. I ate them later at night and they were still good. This place is pricey, definitely worth a visit.

Suffice to say, it left a lasting impression on me, because here I am, almost a decade later. The atmosphere is everything a Texas BBQ joint should be, and having folks enter from the pit area was a stroke of genius. It really sets the expectation & mood. There's "decent" BBQ places here in Ohio, but there's no question Texas does it best, and Hard 8 is a true standout! (LOVE those charros!) This will be the 1st place I stop to eat if ever again I'm in the area. Honorable mention to Tyler's BBQ up in Amarillo if anyone gets out that way.

It's walkable, full of shops, and makes for a really fun area to spend some time before or after eating. But the reason you're here is the BBQ, and it delivers. The brisket was the star for me. Super tender, full of flavor, and exactly what you want from Texas BBQ. The ribs were just as good, fall-off-the-bone and well seasoned. The pulled pork was also really solid. I added BBQ sauce, but honestly it didn't even need it. For sides, definitely get the spicy mac and cheese, baked beans, and potato salad. All of them were great and rounded out the meal perfectly. This is easily a spot I'd come back to next time I'm in Dallas.

The service was warm, welcoming, and attentive throughout the visit. I follow the chef/owner on Instagram (@kafibbq), and the amount of effort and detail he puts into his craft has resulted in multiple return visits for me. This review is for my latest visit. My Overall Rating - 5 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - Kafi BBQ can be found in a shopping strip in Irving-Valley Ranch. Only opened Friday - Sunday, on my most recent Sunday visit around dinner time, Kafi was packed. The patrons were a great mix of families, BBQ lovers, and those looking for high quality Halal meats. Smoke was in the air. 1 Star. Service - The staff is super friendly and nice. Pro Tip - Go for lunch or before 6 before items are sold out. A few items were sold out on my most recent visit (my fault I arrived at 6:45) and the staff weren't aware of what was available, leading to some confusion, but they were so nice it didn't impact my meal. 1 Star. Food - By now, you've probably read or heard about Kafi's Wagyu Brisket. For me, I love following @kafibbq on Instagram so I can see what Salahodeen is cooking up. On this visit, it was the Brisket Sandwich. First off, the house baked bread roll is soft, but firm enough to hold Kafi's famous brisket on a pile of home made cole slaw and pickles. The result was one of the best BBQ sandwiches I've eaten. The bite was soft, smokey, crunchy, and tart (from the pickles). It was a special, and I'm not sure if Kafi will keep this on the menu, but I hope they do. 2 Stars. Will I Return? - Yes. It's pricey, but it's worth it. While the brisket is great, I suggest you follow them on Instagram to see what's cooking and plan your visit around the specialty items. 1 Star.
