They do a fine job. But they need to get the owners of the mall to install adequate, legal and up to code air circulation systems that take the harsh offensive smell out of the hallways of the mall. You can't walk in the back door without it hitting you like a dead fish. Nice hardworking people doing a great job on pedis and manis. read more

SNS manicure with gel color - never done it that way before, but they insisted it would last just as long - not true. They should get a wider selection of SNS colors, or not offer it, or not try to make SNS into a color a client is looking at by using gel polish on top. The edges weren't crisp and it looked good enough for only maybe a week. I stopped in here since I had to wait about an hour on something and needed my nails done anyways. Not really worth having to try and cover up the chips (SNS!) in a week. However the staff was pleasant, accommodating, and the manicure was nice. read more

Pretty horrible service. Tried to stop in for a polish removal and was told to sit in a chair and wait, which would lead one to believe they would be serviced soon, right? Nope. So after saying nothing for fifteen minutes I'm told five more minutes, and after waiting another ten minutes I left. If you don't have time to take a customer - say that. Some of us are on lunch breaks and limited time and don't have all day to guess what time we'll actually be serviced. read more

Stopped in on Saturday afternoon foregoing my usual nail techs (Sonny @ Polish Nails in Hyde Park, and Tony @ Tina's Creations in Centerville) who are AWESOME. I wanted a fill, and my niece a full set. Told us it would be 5 mins. Turned out to be at least 15. My niece was seated first, and the young woman taking care of her walked away constantly to sign in customers, help other nail techs, you name it. I have never seen such a cluster of scrambling techs taking care of no one efficiently or professionally. I sat with my tech, just watching the poor service my niece was getting, and my blood began to boil. I finally left my tech to ask hers to take care of her and quit walking away. In response, she actually told me that she would be done first, as if that was the issue. I told her that it didn't mattered if she got done first, it was about taking care of her customer. I go back to my tech to have him finish my nails. He didn't clean his station before he polished, and I pointed out the dust in my polish. He tries to dab it off with his finger and then glob on polish to even it out. Did it on 2 of my nails and the others looked just as bad. It was so frustrating! I finally told him "I'm done" and to take all my polish off because I was leaving. He did; I took my receipt and crossed off the tip. Because they knew how upset I was, another girls said she would polish my nails (in an attempt to make it right). I let her and didn't take a good look until I left. Well, polish on my cuticles and fingertips, uneven polish.....horrible!! If you want to get your nails done, experience extremely poor customer service, and then go home to file and polish them yourself, then this is your place. If you prefer a quality experience, go to Sonny or Tony. NEVER AGAIN. I will tell anyone I see walk in there "don't do it"! read more

I really wanted to like this place... just out of convenience's sake. I've been here three times for shellac manicures. and EVERY TIME without fail, the shellac starts chipping the next day. I always go back and make them fix the ones that are chipping, but shellac is not supposed to start chipping the next day. I will say, I had a pedicure a few weeks ago and they still look pretty good. Two of the times I've had shellac here, the girl that was doing it had NO idea what she was doing. I had a french manicure and she had to call over another nail tech both times to do the tips. Moral of the story is, I won't be coming back for a shellac manicure because of the inexperienced nail techs. But, I will probably be back for a pedicure. read more

Worst pedi I have ever had, not only did she not cover the entire nail it chipped after 4 day!!!! Very disappointed

I came here to get my nails done about a year ago and I feel compelled to write a positive review because looking back my nails looked far better then, compared to last week when I went to Ambiance. They were coffin shaped, nude and long lasting. I had no complaints. I will be coming back for my next set. Shame on me for going somewhere else that left my nails bumpy and crooked!! I came here with a friend as walk ins and they allowed us to sit in the massage chairs while we waited. The only complaint I have is that we didn't get to sit next to each other (even tho we were the only customers at the time). I appreciated that the employees here let me walk in for a polish change. I was a little early to meet a friend for dinner, so I thought that getting my nails done would be a good way to pass the time! The technician did a very good job on my nails and she was personable. The polish lasted quite a while as well! The only thing that detracted from my experience was that the employees who weren't busy sat in the pedicure chairs right by where I was getting my nails done. I work in the mall, so I thought it would be convenient. It's a waste of money. Seriously. I first went there to get shellac French and if completely peeled off within 24 hours. (Ive gotten shellac that lasted two weeks - it was from another salon). I recently visited for an eyebrow wax and I've never felt so much pain on my face before. I frequently visit salons to get my eyebrows waxed. The swelling didn't go down even after 48 hours now. She also burst a blood vessel in my eye doing this "wax". To top that, they're completely uneven. I do not recommend this to anyone, despite how nice they seem. read more

This place is horrible. It was unsanitary--my tech kept blowing his nose and didn't clean his hands. I couldn't see where he sanitized his instruments. Also, my nails are different lengths and some are slanted. I asked for a French manicure, but didn't get it. I would not recommend this place if it were the last nail shop on earth. Stay far away! This place doesn't follow basic sterilization methods and my nail tech cut me...TWICE. While my nails were soaking, I noticed other nail clippings on the towel she was using. She hadn't cut my nails yet, and some had polish, others not (so how many times had this been used before me?!) The first cut happened when she was filing my nails- a big papercut type slice that hurt badly. Then, she started cutting my cuticles, with tools she pulled from a dirty dusty box! She made me bleed while cutting my first cuticle, at which point I kindly asked her to stop. We proceeded from there, but I don't think the quality was there at all. The owner was sitting right next to me and didn't seem to care about what was going on. I am a small business owner who deals with the health dept regularly and I know is clean and sanitary and what doesn't fly. I will not be returning to this place. read more

I live on the West Coast but needed my nails done while in town so stopped here today. Would not recommend it and would never return. The worst part was the man doing my nails sneezed directly into his hand, wiped his nose with the same hand, and then reached for my hand with it. I asked him to please go wash his hands. It is flu season after all and people are dying of the flu. It clearly upset him. The rest of the manicure was a very bad experience. The arm and hand massage he gave at the end was actually painful he was so rough. He did a terrible job on my nails. I went in to have my shellac nail polish taken off, and a full set of acrylic nails put on. They did not know how to remove the shellac and just pulled if off with cuticle nippers. Then the tech used the dremmel tool to sand down what was left and the nail bed. He ended up sanding down my cuticles and making them bleed on 4 different fingers. The chemicals then burned my raw skin as I was having the acrylic nails applied. The acrylic was put on funky with divots in the sides. The polish was so thick and unevenly applied, that it did not solidify for 4 hours afterward! so I have ridges and marks all in the polish. All in all, I will not be back there again. read more

Was trying to give it a try to a different place, in return got a poor quality pedicure that i had to ask to get some areas redone. The poor/ cheap quality of the materials shows on the finishing of the top coat of my toe nails that in top of the extremely limited variety of nail polishes and more thank half of them being cheap brands. Hello I just read all of the bad reviews here. I currently go to Brian he is the ONLY one I go to. I would recommend going to only him. He recently started working there he was at Modern Nails before which is also in Kenwood Mall. When he moved to Sophia's I followed because of what a great job he ALWAYS does on my pedi/mani. If you consider Kenwood convenient I would at least go back and ask for Brain I promise you won't be disappointed with his work. read more
