We immediately shut it off and saw a huge puddle of oil under the van. He had left the old oil filter gasket under the new one, which resulted in an oil blow out. Jack came to us and replaced the filter and oil which we graciously thanked him for. Since then our engine has had a horrible knocking noise which was determined to be rod knock by another mechanic. We discovered Jack had also overfilled our oil this time by 2 quarts. We towed it in to Jacks only for him to attempt to say it's fine, just leave. We refused, and he finally agreed to look it over. A day later he said he could fix it by "thickening the oil" (that just hides the noise) I told him it needs an honest repair, not a bandaid. He refused, so we're towing the van out and initiating a lawsuit. Jack can talk a nice talk, but when push comes to shove, he will stab you in the back. Watch out for this shop

Stating that I'd pick up the vehicle at 5pm. The only time I could get a ride. It was dark when I got the vehicle just as they closed. When I arrived home I discovered that both back doors were disassembled with parts covering the floor (see photos). They were closed for the weekend so I had to rent a vehicle for my family as my van was now only a 2 seater. And I'd be without the vehicle again to get the door reassembled. They reimbursed me $39 for my inconvenience (their stated cost to put the doors back together). Months later I was shown (see photos) that they reversed the wiring for the brake light & turn signal. All this time I had only one brake light and no right turn signal thanks to their 'repair'. Two trips to new mechanic required to get it in working order .

My check engine light came on when I was visiting Bend from CA and the error code pertained to the…read moreCatalytic Converter. I saw great reviews for Darryl Henry's Auto Repair and went to the shop in hopes they coudl take me. The sweet receptionist told me they were slammed for the week and she'd been instructed to not take any more appointments. But that they could run the diagnostic to at least give me an idea as to whether or not it was urgent. When they saw it was the Catalytic converter, and that we had a 10 hour drive back home in CA, they ordered O2 sensors for me and got me in within 2 days. They also informed me that most of the time, when a catalytic converter is going out, the fix can be made by just replacing the O2 sensors. When it is the actual Cat that goes out, the O2 sensors need to be replaced anyway, so this was a "first step" repair, to see if the problem could be fixed cheaper than replacing the whole Cat. ANYWAY. Darryl Henry called and left me detailed messages and got the work done really quickly. I really appreciated that they took me in so that I could feel safe driving back home. Turns out, he's from the Bay Area! We are moving to Bend next month, so I am really happy that I already have a trust worthy mechanic in the new neighborhood. I arrived to find they have no waiting room. The gentleman said I could sit on the stool in the office if I wanted. I opted to walk to a coffee hut a few blocks away (thankfully I was in athletic gear). By the time I returned (about an hour) I saw the car was done. I was a little surprised by the cost ($178) and felt it was high. However, they were very professional and it seems they are well versed in the Jeep world. 1 star off for not telling me when I called I'd be waiting for it outside, and for the high price for a basic oil change and health check.
