Nostalgic vibes are in full effect here for me personally. I grew up eating tacos with flour tortillas believe it or not and it was just that simple thing that made this foodie experience a delicious one. We ordered the Asada and Chorizo tacos that came with a side of guacamole sauce and sliced radishes. Let me tell you, that sauce was banging and topped with radish? It gave it a nice crunchy texture that made this taco a banger. Oh snap, ok I forgot to mention the cabbage too! Combine all those components and you get a banging taco. Since it was my first time I got everything on the side and I hooked it up the way we wanted it. Now I know the next time I order these hand held morsels I'll just get them with everything. The place is small and has limited seating but it moves quickly as people eat and run. The service was good and the vibe is festive. And that's my take on it, Peace
Many visits to this location under my belt and I've never been disappointed. I've also brought loved ones here from out of town and they always enjoy the food, appreciate the service, simplicity of the menu, and the fast casual experience. Staff try to keep the place clean and are always efficient and fast. I'm glad Long Beach has a location now!
Quality Tacos with Delicious Flavors! They make their own tortillas in house which gives them high credibility and they use quality ingredients. Food -Carne asada tacos are DELICIOUS. 5/5 carne asada is tender and cut to the perfect size. Tortillas are handmade. You can't ask for more, it's exactly what a tacos should be. Ambiance -proper Mexican food establishment vibes. It's well decorated inside and they play Mexican music for the vibes Service - no issues Overall if you like tacos or are craving them this, is a great place to check out! It's HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
Sonoratown continues to be one of my favorite places for tacos. We are so lucky to have it in Long Beach. They're known for their handmade flour tortillas that have an amazing bite to them. They were just awarded a Michelin Bib Gourmand award this week for their excellent, affordable food. One thing that I appreciate about their tacos is that their meats have varied textures. The costilla (rib meat) is a crowd pleaser as you get the taste of the grill/charcoal. They have tripe that is crispy with corn nut texture. Cabeza (face meat) has a stewed texture. Unlike most places in LB, there is two hours free parking conveniently located across the street at the Harvey Milk Community Lot. This is easily one of the best options for tacos in Long Beach and, if you haven't had it yet, then you really should! This is the type of place that we need to support!
After hearing there was a Sonoratown in Long Beach, I had to visit! It's casual dining with quality taste! We ordered with the cashier. I got the burrito de asada and added the poblano. Best choice! I highly recommend! The tortilla was soft and buttery! The Manteca was worth it. Cheese was perfectly melted and everything came together perfectly. Food came out pretty quickly. They also have different sized bags of chips to choose from. We had some with the chiltepín salsa, it was firey hot and yummy! A must try for unassuming Mexican food.
Sonoratown offers some very flavorful and fresh tacos and other dishes with a good selection of meats and toppings. I ordered the steak, chicken, and beef head, all of which were flavorful and tender. The sauces added a nice kick, especially the red one. Their horchata was delicious and very cinnamony. Prices were on the higher end for the portion you get. Overall it's a nice place to visit in the heart of Long Beach.
First time here. My coworkers wanted to eat here for lunch and they are always talking about it. The food was great! I had 2 tripa tacos , 1 asada, and 1 cabeza. To drink an horchata. Service was quick , the servers are all friendly. Small spot but has plenty of seating. I really enjoyed my food. Definitely coming back. One of my coworkers orders the Caramelo, which is a giant taco with all the fixings! It looked really good!! Going to get that next time.
It was decent nothing that wowed me. Margaritas were decent, not crazy flavorful though. Staff were nice and service was decently quick after placing our order. Tried two different flavors of Margarita A burrito 2.0 with asada And a chicken chivichanga which was kinda small and I probably could've eaten two lol. Not a bad spot and I live close so it wasn't out of the way. Limited parking in the area, there is a lot with free two hour parking close by but during events that is a paid lot so be warned. Decent size interior, worth a try if in this side of Long Beach.
My friends have always raved about Sonoratown's tortillas. They definitely lived up to the hype. I got a chicken chimichanga, an asada Carmello, hibiscus agua Fresca and a brown sugar pie. Everything was delicious. The servers are patient with newcomers. The casual spot has simple tables and fun colorful decor. I can't wait to go back to try more.
The tortillas tho.... Have been hearing a ton about this place, so came to give it a try. Interior is super cute with tons of seating. We ordered caramelos with the poblanos inside, as well as their horchata. Tortillas are some of the best I've had. Super soft and flavorful from the grill. The fillings and salsa were good too, but it was really wet, and the bean ratio especially compared to the meat, was a little off. Always am going to want more meat. Horchata was unique since it was coconut based. Overall solid spot with patient staff. Tacos La Rueda is still better, but will be back when in Long Beach.
When you get inside it's a place where you order and then find a seat. We got here on a Saturday before noon and it was already packed but no wait to place our order. First of all one of their workers with the mastche and tattoos is so cute which is always a plus for the ambiance. It didn't take long to get our food. About 5 minutes and they brought it out to where we sat since we dined in. First of all! You need to get an aguas fresca. We got the medium for the orange mango and the Jamaica. They are so natural. I'm a huge fan of artificial flavor so this was a huge shock, but it pairs so well with their food. My only regret isn't getting the large. For the food we got the burrito 2.0 asada and the chivichanga chicken. The burrito was great but very heavy on the beans. Make sure you get extra green salsa. It's their best and a perfect balance of salty with a hint of sweet. The red salsa gets spicy. If you can't handle hot Cheetos don't eat it. Now the chivichanga thing was perfect. It's so tiny but the fact it's about $5 was perfect. I have never had something so well priced and portioned before. The way I can describe it if you ever wanted to taste high class Taco Bell that will make you want four more then you need to try it. And I mean this in the best way possible. It's so cheesy and savory and yummy!!! Truly just from these two dishes we will be coming back to try the rest of the menu. Our next dishes is to try the tacos!
The interior of the shop was very colorful, had a good amount of seating, and had loud festive music playing. We stopped in for a carne asada burrito and bean and cheese burrito on a week night and it was not busy. It's nice that they have smaller burrito options that are around $5! They were served with a grilled green onion and radishes The flavor of the carne asada was good, and the tortillas were nice and chewy and freshly made. The different salsas were tasty and the green was our favorite of the three. I'd say they were solid burritos, would consider dropping by for a quick bite if I was in the area again
Amazing homemade flour tortillas, perfectly grilled meats, fresh ingredients, and fast, friendly service. Easily one of the best taco spots in LA. The official taco destination of IVA High School and, despite his ongoing campaign of misinformation, Mr. Pinzon's personal favorite.

Im stoked that you guys came down to Long Beach! Sonoratown is our number one spot for asada, red sauce and the tortillas! We have been driving down to Los Angeles but the drive is dreadful. I was nervous that it wouldn't be the same but it taste exactly the same!! Here is to becoming a regular at the Long Beach location. TAKE MY MONEY!! read more
Came here on a Friday afternoon to give Sonoratown a round 2 after trying their soft opening. There wasn't much of a wait (although, there were plenty of people sitting down in eating). They've definitely shaped up since the soft opening! The inside is super trendy looking and is great to sit down and eat in. The menu is pretty unique from what you might come to expect from a taco shop (especially with the influx of taco trucks in Long Beach). I tried the Burrito 2.0 with carne asada and it was delicious! It's not super huge (still enough for 1 person) but you can taste the quality and how fresh everything is. My favorite part was honestly the flour tortilla--it might be one of the best tortillas I've ever had for a burrito. Perfectly chewy, warm, hefty and soft. Their horchata is also unique as it has coconut in it which gives it a nice extra flavor. I've never tried the original Sonoratown but this place definitely makes me want to go. Glad to see Long Beach have a true taco shop here in the heart of downtown as a brick-and-mortar! Will have to be back to try their other items! read more

The tacos were so dam good I went for seconds even tho they were spicy. If your stomach is sensitive avoid the red salsa I did for my second plate however it's so good I still licked my plate clean on the first 3 tacos. Definitely will come again when I travel again! Service was great and quick!!! read more
Got the "Lorenzo" vegetarian option and it was delish! Beautiful and so many flavors. Has a nice little kick to it. Hearty. Staff was super nice. Plenty of seating inside and decent little patio seating outside. I loved the decor as well; brick interior walls, beautiful paintings through out. Airy and spacious. read more
Service is great & the tacos are good. Ordered Asada, Tripas and Chorizo. The tortillas are made fresh...kuddos for that. The meat was reheated. Luke warm at best but still flavorful. It took less than 3 min for the tacos to be ready. Fast service and lots of room to sit. The salsa "pica" it was delicious. Definitely a good vibe. read more
I was so excited to check out Sonoratown's new Long Beach location, and it did not disappoint! This spot brings authentic Sonoran-style tacos, and it's quickly become a must-visit. I ordered three tacos: one chicken and two steak. I asked for the red sauce on the side since it can be a little too spicy for my taste, and I prefer the green sauce, which has a great flavor without overpowering the tacos. Both chicken and steak were delicious, but the steak was my favorite--the meat was tender and the combination of toppings was perfection. They provide seating inside and limited outdoor seating as well. Parking was easy to find--there's street parking and a free parking lot nearby for 2 hours. The staff was super friendly and quick with their service, which made the experience even better. I'll be coming back for more of those steak tacos! read more
What a great addition to downtown! I have been looking forward to Sonoratown opening for quite some time. Everything here is great. I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. I would have to say that maybe the chorizo is my favorite though. Well the chorizo and the flour tortillas of course. Everything seemed to be running pretty smooth even though it was still technically their soft opening. The white staff was great and they were canning out the food at a steady pace. read more
I was psyched to see that Sonoratown opened a branch in Long Beach! I've been missing them ever since I moved out of LA. The new spot is absolutely beautiful, set in a historic building with super high ceilings, skylight and exposed brick wall. We ordered their burrito 2.0, chivichanga and caramelo, all with chicken. The chicken in the burrito and the caramelo wasn't as flavorful as I was used to, somewhat lacking that grilled taste. Their flour tortillas though were perfection - love how they just seem to melt in your mouth (thanks, lard) and the chicken chivi continues to be my fave thing on the menu. With the recent opening, there's bound to be some growing pains. Next time, I'm getting my fave order of chicken chivi and bean and cheese burrito! Free 2-hour parking in the public garage across the street! read more
We just HAD to come once we found out Sonoratown was open. Quick little walk midday landed us here and we found the shop bustling with diners and a hefty line of hungry people. Between my fiance and I, we shared a chorizo taco, costilla taco, and cabeza burrito. The portions are ENORMOUS and the salsas are absolutely delicious. All the meats were super tender and just melted, but the cabeza was our choice of the day. Don't forget to get your green onion! ;) Service was also really great considering we went within a day of opening and food was really quick to come out! Can't wait to come back and try more of the meats! read more
My girlfriend heard about this place so we decided to give it a shot. They had an assortment of Mexican food items and we chose to try both their burritos and their tacos. I gave their Sonoran chorizo taco was shot and it wasn't that bad. The meat was a bit different than I'm accustomed to, but it was beautifully put together. Their green avocado salsa was absolutely wonderful. And I love the crisp of their cabbage shredding. My girlfriend had the chicken taco and said it was really good. The burritos were fantastic. You could tell how homemade the tortillas were and everything inside went perfectly together. The green and red sauce that they provide were really good. The red was way way hotter than the green. Their chips were also homemade and were perfect perfectly crisp with plenty of salt. It's a decent spot on third street and I would recommend everyone give it a shot that's in Long Beach . read more
Came in to order take out, ordered their grilled steak Caramelo, added the chile poblano and it was so good, my favorite out of everything I ordered. Also had their chicken Chivichanga and braised beef taco and both were also really good! Had their chips & guacamole and Horchata de Coco. Everything was good my only complaint is I tried to order extra grilled onions and they told me that each of my dishes came with one but when I came home to my surprise none of my plates had not one grilled onion in it. Wish I wouldn't have listed and just purchased some :( will still be back! read more

I really liked the flour tortillas! They had good beer options for my sister, we had the cabeza and chorizo and tacos which were all very good spicy indeed. We want to try the quesadillas next time! read more
We spent the day around Long Beach and passed by Sonoratown! I'd visited their DTLA location before, so we decided to stop in. It was super busy for a Sunday but the line was not too long, we weren't very hungry so I just ordered one grilled steak taco and grabbed a seat outside. One taco was a great portion for a quick snack for us. The service was quick, and everything was spotless. It wasn't loud cuz everyone was too busy enjoying their food to talk. LOL. read more

Pretty good burrito here! I got the 2.0 asada and it was tasty. The flower tortilla was some of the best i had on a burrito. Inside is guacamole, monterey Jack cheese, pinto beans,& chiltepin salsa. The crew here were some of the most welcoming people and super friendly. Customer service is top notch. You can eat inside or outside seating. A very relaxing environment. Sonornatown located on the same street as the dog haus a couple of stores down going south. They have tripa, cabeza, chorizo, pollo and steak options! They also have all the popular beers like corona, pacifico and bohemia beers to choose from. I would go back ago and try the tacos next! They close early at 4pm so be aware. I am SO excited Long Beach got a Sonoratown! I work near the down town location and I was ecstatic to learn LBC would get one because everything is so good! I am normally a corn tortilla person, but the flour tortillas here are next level. At the LBC location, I tried the chivichanga and the caramelo taco. I got the chivichanga with the shredded beef. I am not exaggerating when I say it's one of the best bites I've ever had. It was smaller than I was expecting, but so worth it. The melted cheese with the shredded beef was so delicious. 15/10 for taste. The caramelo taco was also great. I got it with costilla meat, and the meat itself was soooo good. This taco is really big, comes with a lot of things inside like refried beans and guac. It was very tasty but also pretty messy, just as a heads up. I got the special hot sauce they have - I didn't find it spicy at all. It has a good depth of flavor tho. 9/10 for this taco. I also had a small Jamaica and it was also great. Nothing too special about it, but it's done really well. This location is great - free 2 hour parking is just a block away. I went at lunch and it wasn't too busy when I went, but it was definitely getting busier as I left. There are a few tables outside for seating as well. The customer service was great, everyone was really kind and accommodating. The decor is simple and pays homage to the owner's heritage from Sonora. I've had the street tacos and burritos at the DTLA location and there is a reason they have won the best taco award. The street tacos come with cabbage and salsa already on them. The salsa can be spicy for some people, (I don't find it spicy but my boss thought it was SO spicy), so you may want to ask for the salsa to on the side.you can get a poblano pepper in the burrito if you want which I highly recommend. read more

So happy this is down here! Everything we tried was really delicious, including the horchata (which does taste very coconutty to me...). Our food came out very quickly and I'm happy to see they added some outdoor seating, so it is dog-friendly. It is downtown though, so with that comes limited street parking (there's a free parking structure nearby) and well, downtown smells. read more

There is no shortage of amazing taco spots in Long Beach and Sonoratown is one of them. The item that I will be coming back for that I can't get anywhere else in the Cabeza Lorenza. The serving size is generous, the meat is perfectly cooked, and the hot sauces are delicious. Service is quick and friendly. Stop by here to kick off or end your DTLB bar crawl. read more
Came here for the first time I usually go to the one in LA BUT MANNNN THIS ONE IS SMACKINNN! The asada is made to perfection giving that misquite flavor grilled to perfection not overly cooked and extra juicy . The salsa is fire also lacking no flavor what so ever . The guac also on point . All in all you would think you were in Mexicali eating this food very clean inside . Good service. Don't fear of the hipster these are legit tacos fr fr read more

This place was delicious! I immediately fell in love with the tortillas of course. They were fresh and chewy with just enough flavor to enhance the meat. I ordered a bean and cheese burrito and 2 tacos (one asada and one chicken). The two salsas that came with the meal were house made for sure. I preferred the Green salsa since it had more flavor and heat, the red salsa was more of a pico de gallo. The ingredients on the tacos were so fresh and I felt myself 10x happier with every bite of food. Both the chicken and asada had amazing char. The service was quick and my food came out fast. The ambiance was chill and it wasn't too over crowded. The only reason I couldn't give it 5 stars is just based on the size of the food. It was amazing but left me wanting more. Overall I would definitely recommend this place to try out something new! read more

Beef chivichanga is so good. Flavorful small sized grilled burrito that is an excellent choice. 4.7/5 Chicken was also solid but beef better. 4.4/5. Caramelo with buche - A very good choice but not my favorite dish here. A little less flavor compared to the chivi and quesadilla. 4.4/5 Carne asada quesadilla - Ok, this banged. Honestly, get one for sure. The best option not only for the price, but probably overall. Add some salsa roja inside. 4.8/5 Strawberry agua fresca - Delicious, balanced, and fresh strawberry taste. Almost a smoothie but not quite. Moderate depth of flavor. 4.6/5 Jamaica - Really quality agua fresca. 4.6/5 read more
A recently opened Sonoratown restaurant in Downtown Long Beach, and it's a must-visit! Parking is easy, thanks to the City of Long Beach parking structure nearby, where the first two hours are free. I tried the Caramelo with costilla, featuring tender beef rib, melted jack cheese, pinto beans, avocado, cabbage, and salsa, all folded in a large, homemade flour tortilla. It was fantastic, but the real standout was the tripa taco. Though smaller in size, the crispy tripas are bursting with flavor and absolutely delicious! If you like spice, definitely try the chiltepin salsa. It costs a little extra, but it really enhances the flavors! Highly recommended. read more

Hi Rita!…
Food was good, not great. Salsa had a very strong kick to it. I like spicy, but when you can't taste anything but the heat I find it overwhelming. Steak was the only meat I tried that I liked. Chorizo was okay, beef cheek was all fat. Bean & cheese burrito could have used a little more flavor. read more

Had to go back today to try all of the salsas and get more of the delicious chips. I ended up ordering another bean burrito and it's quite possibly one of the best bean burritos I've had in my life. The spice with the delicious tortilla and beans are wonderful. I can't wait to try the avocado salsa I purchased today. read more

Came here again yesterday to bring my aunt (who is from same town as owner) and the food was good per usual. The place was emptier than I expected. The cashier was had great customer service. When we got out food I asked server if I could get a chiltepin salsa which is their spicy salsa, she responded that it would be 50 cents and I said ok that's fine and she walked away. So I was waiting to see if she ever returned and awhile after I asked her if I needed to make line and order the salsa or if she could just bring it and she said yes I needed to order since cashier was needed to pay. Wish that would've been communicated so I wouldn't have been waiting. I finally got my salsa and I asked if it came with the tacos and she said no only the burritos, so if I ordered 3 tacos that didn't have this salsa, I kinda don't get why I can't get this spicy salsa without it being xtra? Doesn't make sense to me, doesn't every other taco place give a spicy salsa when asked if it's not extra? Anyway, I can't eat my tacos without having any restaurants version of their spicy salsa. Like I said food is great but since I'm a spicy lover the whole ordeal with trying to get a serving of their chiltepin salsa didn't sit right with me. Update*** Received a msg from the owner who explained to me why the chiltepin salsa isn't included in the tacos etc and it makes sense. I appreciate the communication from them and hopefully others can get an explanation from staff. By the way if you haven't tried the chiltepin salsa you need to try it! It's amazing if you like spicy. Overall this continues to be my go-to place for Sonora style tacos (which are hard to find) without having to cross the border. Much love y arriba San Luis Rio Colorado Sonora. read more
