I do all my own oil changes, but today was different. I've never been to a "Take 5"…read more My daughter's fiat threw a code while at a store about a half mile away from Take 5. Code reader I had said coolant level low, low pressure, leak, or failure. Yikes. Slowly drove it to auto zone and their code reader said the same. First thing to do is to add coolant as it was a tiny bit below the min level. But i worried it was something else. Asked guy at auto zone if the "Take 5" place across the parking lot from them did coolant flush/replacements. They said no. Hmmm...walked over and the guy there said sure, they do them. Had daughter drive over and she drove right in and they did the flush/replacement - code went away!! We also asked for a discount and got a small one. Noticed they give veteran's 25% off which is awesome. Really nice 3 guys there. Shoulda got names but it was may 7th about 5 pm. They washed front window, topped off our oil (using oil we bought at auto zone) and my daughter drove home without any issues! Win win over all. While I'm not a big fan of coolant flushes, this sure was cheap compared to other possible issues causing the code issue. (Fiat 500x) thanks guys!! Found a coupon for Timing Belt Replacement starting at $399.95, called to ask about it. Was told they were about 4 days behind, gave me an appointment about a week out. Was ok with that. Husband and I took off work to go to appt, found out it was at least 4 days for the actual work to get done. I was dropping off on a Friday and wouldn't get the car until Thursday is what I was told. They might have gotten it to me earlier if possible. Then was asked if we were aware of the pricing, we said we had a coupon for it to be $399.95 or so, knowing it would be a little more because that is normal. She told us it would be $1750. We asked why, was told it was a package deal and a serpentine belt and something else would be done also. They charge for each thing separately, including the labor hours, even though it is all done at one time. We asked if we could just do the coupon and they told us no, it was a package deal and it was a discount. Chris, Thank you for your response to the review. As you stated, when we were there you explained the price and why, not when the original appointment was made a week ago. Upfront pricing is always appreciated. We also did not ask for a serpentine belt or tensioner, we specifically requested to not have those. We did ask about the water pump, and did understand that would be an extra price. Would have been happy to have not had that done either if it was an option and the "coupon" price was given. Although many tire shops came up in my search, one company stood out to me -- that wasn't even a dedicated tire shop. It was Wilhelm Automotive. The reason they stood out to me was because of the glowing reviews from customers, like myself, who have limited knowledge surrounding auto-repair needs... or knowing who to trust! (Especially for those of us who tend to feel intimidated by auto-repair shops that have been dishonest, are all about 'up-selling' services & parts you don't actually need and/or those who are 'shady' at best. I was also surprised to see an auto repair shop that came up on a tire shop search. But right at the top of their reviews, there was a review surrounding Wilhelm providing excellent service that involved tires/tire fixes and replacement. After filling the tire up with air, I noticed a nail with a slow leak, and since they were so close, I drove out their way. I just have to say that deciding to go to Wilhelm Automotive when I was having an issue with my tire was the best decision I could have ever made. Not only did they fix my flat tire, they also looked at and fixed another tire that I had been having issues with. No shop in Los Angeles would fix it for me, insisting that I needed to purchase a brand new tire (which actually meant buying two new tires because of the all-wheel drive situation on my 2015 Subaru Outback). Even from the exact tire shop that I had originally ~ and recently~ bought 4 brand new tires from!!! Wilhelm Automotive fixed both tires no problem and with none of the issues I was repeatedly told there would be, by multiple shops I had asked to. (I was a bit shocked, and when I asked how they ended up fixing it... with a patch or plug? I was told that they did a combination of both to ensure that the tire is solidly and permanently fixed, is completely safe and 'as good as new')!! They also had my passenger side windshield wiper blade in stock (that I had asked about as well) and replaced it for me after fixing my tires. When I went up to the counter to pay my bill after my car was brought out for me (only 40 mins later, I was told 'you're good to go! we're good! just please consider using us for any other car repairs that might come up')! I could t believe it!! I was in total shock... they wouldn't even let me pay for the wiper blade and I pretty much had to force them to, at very least, take a tip from me!!! I was ~delightfully~ in shock the rest of the day. I have made my folks (& their friends & neighbors) promise me to ONLY go to Wilhelm Auto from here on out!! I'm sorry to report that this review is {finally} here ~ so long after-the-fact, but life as a hard-working single Mom has a way of coming in between such things. But exceptional, honest, professional and CARING service is never out of fashion -- nor is a review for it!! ********************************** It's incredibly rare to find an auto repair shop these days that encompasses all of these and more!! They told me they could not find any issues so they did a drain and recharge with dye. $600 I asked for a copy of the machine report breaking down amount removed amount put in. I was told they would email it they never did. After picking it up, I drove straight home and parked it. Today, I opened my center console and discovered that my coin holder was missing. This wasn't something loose that could have accidentally fallen out or been misplaced. It was mounted into the center console and required effort to pry out and remove. It was taken. I contacted the shop and spoke with Eric. He told me he checked the technician's toolbox and said it wasn't there, suggesting that I must have misplaced it. That explanation simply doesn't make sense given how securely the holder was installed. What's most concerning is that if someone felt comfortable removing and taking something as minor as a coin holder full of change, it raises serious questions about what else could potentially be happening with customers' vehicles and belongings. Eric suggested I file a police report and stated that their employees are "too busy to steal." I'm not looking to get anyone into legal trouble over a coin holder, but I do expect honesty, accountability, and respect for customers' property. This experience has completely broken my trust in this shop. I will not be returning for future repairs or service, and now I'm left questioning whether the work performed on vehicles is even being done properly especially since I never got the email. To current and future customers: I strongly recommend removing all personal belongings from your vehicle before bringing it here. Update June 5th it's been over two weeks since speaking with a district manager. He was able to pull up and send me the work that was done to my vehicle. I was over charged for the service "performed" he then told me I would receive a refund for the overcharge of service. I reached out to customer service about it then Nick Lee called again informing me they would refund me the over charge in another way but still nothing yet. At this point I want my money back for it all this is a joke! They take my belongings They over charge me They tell me false information Stay clear of this place
