This business is a sham, I paid to have my car can hard wired and paid $160. I had to take the car back twice because we the wires kept on falling out of the roof of the car. When my car was totaled, the would not tell me the number of fuse to use. They wanted another $160. I got the fuse number from the fiat dealership and it took me 20 minutes and I did it all myself! Next time, if you want to know hoe to hard wire your car, go on YouTube and save yourself $160! What rat bastards! read more

Ok so I have had an Alpine system installed by these guys for 5+ years. While the installation was fast, and the price was good, I have discovered small issues with the installation. Service has been 5 stars, but I have to dock a point for a few issues, which I am sure they would resolve if asked, unfortunately I just don't feel they should have been present to begin with. In the process of a recent replacement HU install on my own (the sonic sound install HU was simply dated after 7 years - not their fault obviously), and through learning about car AV, I have discovered a few things about the install which I believe could have been done better. 1 - the polarity of one my woofers were reversed and were counter-acting each other. Fixed by switching the connections in my front door crossover. It took 10 minutes. 2 - All of my wiring was done by twisting two cable ends together and wrapping with electrical tape. I have discovered that by redoing these connections and using proper wire terminators my sound quality has improved dramatically. Additionally as the electrical tape has begun to fail I am noticing issues with noise in my signal. I am going back and using plastic or crimped connectors to correct these issues. Sorry, but it just could have been better. That all said, the install was very fast. They have resolved multiple issues same day for me while I wait. Not a bad job, just not perfect. read more

DIY projects and certain tasks are good, but some things you just have to leave to the pros (lol/smh). I figured I could set up my new BlackVue Dashcam especially since the company made the latest 900X 2Ch so "user friendly". And in some ways it is. But not for hardwiring to use the Park Mode (which is what I specifically needed the camera for). I did the cigarette lighter set up, but it only works for when you're driving. Look at YouTube vids after vids. "Easy, I got this". Checked out the fuse panels for my AMG, ", I'm not messing up my car!" Sonic pros went above & beyond with a super clean set up & even cleaned up my DYI mess (cords hanging & wrapped around stuff...). I'll add photos after this weather clears & I get better lighting. Went to Sonic Sound for an LED headlamp that I couldn't find anywhere else in the area and Kevin hooked me up with the light I needed or so I thought. I took the headlamp to the dealership for install and they said sorry this is the wrong bulb so back to Sonic Sound I went, Kevin was happy to help me get the correct bulb and I headed back out to the dealership. Upon arriving at the dealership with what Kevin and I thought was the correct bulb they again told me this one won't work, at this point I'm extremely frustrated with them so I call my boy Kevin back up and man he goes above and beyond to find the exact part number that I need and since he doesn't have it in stock gets it rush delivered for me so it can be there by the time I get back there for the THIRD TIME! When I arrive back to Sonic Sound the bulbs are there as promised and Kevin hooks me up with upgraded bulbs! Nothing against this place as they are very helpful and all but there pricing is higher than the dealerships. There install charge is highest I have seen in the area. I bet they do a great job but I cannot pay more than the dealership on the same item. I used to be in the car audio business so if they say a grand the markup on that is almost 100%. It's too bad that they do not work with you on price as that is why many go to audio stores over others. Oh well. The owner recently contacted me and explained his pricing. Ok so I went to Sonic Sound with my old minivan with a tape player (remember tapes? Anyone? Anyone?) and said that I would like to upgrade to a CD player but I didn't want to spend a lot of money on it...it is an old minivan after all... and all my Captain and Tenille and Osmond brothers and Tupac cassettes have been lost. (thank god). So i got a nice Sony with CD and a little cable thingy for my ipod for around a hundred dollars plus installation , tax, the cable thingy all under two macaronis....this I could do! I told him to go ahead and make it so and that i would wait....now this is important to know, other places (I checked) make you sit on a old car bench seat with the springs poking out while they install the radio.....But not at Sonic Sound, they had these cool recliner seats in a sweet air conditioned showroom with a big old flat screen TV on the wall....showing a soccer match in Spanish between Spain and Italy...it was a tie, no big deal, It was in Spanish all I got out of it were the commercials "Hola, ¿Es tu olor los pies?" I have no idea what that means but it sounded cool so I am so going to use that on my next date..... also what I know is that when Italy got near a goal you are suppose to yell Bastardo!, and shake your fist at the screen, well, at least that's what everyone else watching was doing :o) Car was ready in about an hour...It's like blinds in an hour except more musically...I had mentioned to Kevin (the owner?) that I liked the Spanish music he was playing in the background...and wouldn't you know it he set my last preset to the Spanish radio station. Yay! All in all it was a great experience, i give them 4 stars instead of 5 because it would have been nice to have a cold beverage to enjoy the Bastardos on TV with. Thanks again. read more

I'll try to be objective but this place is a joke. Less than 2 years ago I paid $227 to have an auxiliary cable put in so I could play my Ipod through the speakers. Pretty quickly (i.e. within a week) it started shorting out and shutting off the radio system. I had to take it back and they realized they installed it wrong. They fixed it and it worked. After about a year and a half, the sound quality started getting bad. Lots of static and feedback. Last month, the entire thing gave out. Their paperwork says lifetime warranty on installation so I took it back and was told that the cord had worn out. They said that they now use stronger cords with their installations. Rather than just replacing the cord though, considering that it must have been junk if it didn't even last two years, they made me pay for the new cord as that wasn't part of their installation warranty. Unfortunately, they made the same mistake they made with the first installation. The system immediately started shorting out again so we have to bring it in a fourth time to have them fix their failed installation. My strong recommendation is to NOT get involved with this place. read more

So yes, they'll do whatever work you wanted. I just wanted a simple exchange of my factory sound system for a CD one with USB input. Seems easy enough. In short: they changed my sound system - probably worth a solid 4 stars, but here's the beef: 1) They broke my window regulator. I'm not sure how, but it ended up costing me an additional $150. The worst part - the guy wouldn't even admit it. I tried to understand the concept to him of "I gave you 4 working windows......90 minutes later you gave me three". Did you just not realize it when the other 3 windows rolled up and the 4th didn't? I mean, seriously, man. 2) He used a part I brought him, ripped the packaging open, told me it was the wrong piece, then gave it back after losing a piece. Pretty hard to return that one now. In short: yes, they did the job, but did it by costing me an additional 150+$ and then completely lying to my face about breaking my car. Save some hassle and go get it done by real professionals at best buy or so and not by the idiots here. read more

I recently purchased two head units from this place. Before writing this article, I was gonna give them four stars and then one star, but had to give them five. Based just on my car, they would have gotten four stars. The work they did was competent, but, I had to bring the car in twice due to the first unit not being fully compatible with my car (it couldn't work with my car's steering wheel controls). However, they got the correct unit in and installed it as soon as I was able to get my car back in. Down side was, my wife decided to use this as an occasion to lobby for a new stereo for her car (since, hey, they have this already opened unit, they might give us a discount on it!). They offered a discount on the unit they'd originally put in my car if I installed it in hers (shit: I really hadn't budgeted for a second unit, but...). I demured and said I'd call back if I could swing the budget. Wife spent the rest of the weekend lobbying. I made arrangements to drop off the wife's SUV after work, but before their 19:00 closing. I got back from work, and we trucked out to their location. We hit unexpected construction on Glebe Rd and ended up delayed. When we arrived at the store, it was dark and locked. I'd assumed the construction had delayed us past their closing hour, but looked at my clock and saw that it was actually 18:52. So, I was *PISSED* that they'd not stuck around to closing time when they knew that I was going to be there before closing time. It was at this point that I was considering leaving a one-star rating on here. Instead, I wrote them an email that let them know that I was extremely unhappy (I was civil but direct in my email). The next day, the store owner called me to apologize and to offer to come pick up the SUV and install the head unit at the discounted price and waive the installation fees. I'd not asked for any accommodations in my email, simply conveyed my displeasure. These guys went the extra mile and got it knocked out quickly and competently. So, while the overall experience wasn't perfect, it was better than just a four-star rating. I'm giving five stars since I can't give 4.5. read more
