I absolutely love Sonic, and was exstatic to find a locatio. On my route to Ocean City, until I ate the food. We all got different things (chili cheese tots, popcorn chicken, burger, cherry limeade) and all of us had upset stomachs afterward. Nothing sat well with anyone, even the cherry limeades tasted off. As rare as sonics are in this area, I will avoid this one at all costs. read more

My husband and I usually go here when we are on our way home from Annapolis for a limeade or slush. The lines are usually REALLY long at lunch time and dinner because it is still a novelty to have one. It is still fast food, and the food is nothing really special. Been there 3 times where they messed up my order. No syrup in the soda. Tomatoes when I say NO tomatoes. Burgers with toppings missing. Depending on who's working is how your drink will look. 3 Strikes, You're OUT! It was good when it was correct but I'm tired of wasting my money and I shouldn't have to complain, It's fast food.. HOW hard can it be? I worked 3 years in fast food. This place is a joke! I even got an e-mail from someone trying to say this will never happen again after I complained. Doubt it, I don't want your gift certificates.. Look at the reviews for the past few years. Lack of management somewhere. So sad you bring a Sonic's to Maryland and it's such a disappointment. I'm really surprised at all the complaints about this location. Whenever I have went I have had no problems. My food comes out quickly and correct. I have gone at all different times and days so I have gotten a pretty good idea of the place. The carhops are always so friendly. And I gotta end it all with a Sonic Blast....It cant be beat....love this place. Haven't been to a sonic in years. Was excited to try this one. The ocean water cream slush wasn't as flavorful as I remember but it wasn't bad. We had a Chicago dog, chili dog and tater tots. Service was quick but the cashier messed up my order. Food was delicious except the burgers could use a bit of ketchup and tater tots didn't have salt on them. The people parked next to us said they never put salt on them - not even a little bit. Shakes were good and thick. Sign up for text rewards -they sent us a coupon for 1/2 price burgers the next day. I'm sad to see some of the negative reviews. I've been to this Sonic...way too many times because I live so close to it! It is fast food, so not gourmet and not the healthiest. Coneys are great, drinks are great, chili cheese tots are great. Service is at times a little slow...when there are lots of cars there... Orders have been correct the vast majority of our visits. My only critique is the layout of the Sonic, as some other reviewers have mentioned. I'm guessing that because of space issues there is only one side of the restaurant with car stalls (vs. two that are typically to so many Sonics)...but even that being said...five stars and so happy we finally have a Sonic in this area. Sonic is a great place for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. I go here with family and friends. The staff is always friendly and nice. Sonic as a company gives a lot to education which is awesome. The food here is delicious and happy hour features half-price drinks. read more

I usually love Sonic but not too sure about service. After a long wait, the guy came out to see why we hadn't responded and said the intercom was saying we were at a different speaker. Had horrible time ordering with lots of repetition and the guy comes back out to get total order. The order comes and is messed up. My hot dog with a little mustard and relish is naked and the mustard and relish is on the chili cheese dog! My husband gets out of the car and tries to enter-he can't but a server on her way in stops and takes order to correct it. When order comes back out the tots are missing so again we have to contact them but the tater tots are replaced. Not sure it was worth the wait! read more

If I could do less than one star I would. Every time I come here, we receive poor service. I get it you're ready to go home but I don't see why there's an attitude. 1 and a half stars is a little more accurate. But not an option. Like other reviewers I was in a non-moving Drive-Thru line and read the sign that pulling into a spot would get you faster service. It doesn't. Don't listen to the sign. I push the red button to order and sat and sat sat. I watched the people behind me in line at the drive-thru get through Speedy service before my order was even taken. She comes on the box to take my order and my sandwich specifics aren't showing up on the screen. I said I also wanted mustard on my burger. She said I see mustard on my side, I don't know why it's not showing on yours. Luckily the burger came out okay though not hot for all the waiting I did. Fries were hot hence the two star score. It's a shame the whole process took so long, I decided to order significantly fewer items due to the time it took for them to answer the blinking red button to take my order. I don't know when I'll be back to Sonic after the long wait. read more

My first Sonic experience was last night in Edgewater and I am in love. Efficient and quick service, clean outdoor seating, and a lot of food for the price. My burger with everything was fantastic and now I want to learn to skate! We had our meal outdoors with a group of kids and doggies barking excitedly from their cars which was a lot of fun. The onion rings are melt-in-your-mouth good. I suppose next time we'll try the drive-in, but you can't beat sitting outside on a breezy May night. read more

I love this Sonics food but it's in a weird place for where I live. And I wish it had better waiters! It sometimes they get a little mean to us! And last time we went to go to this sonic it was hard to find so we ended up going some place else. Plus the parking was very cramped and very few of them! Sonic comes to Edgewater MD - after 2 tries I finally endured the over 20 minute wait through the drive thru. It's brand new and everyone I know has raved about how great the place is. I don't eat alot of fast food - but as a comprehensive reviewer I do try to visit every single eatery in town. That said Sonic was a huge disappointment - not remotely worth the wait. I had a Super Sonic double cheeseburger, fries, and a strawberry limeade. I figured that would be a decent benchmark. For one 20 minutes in the drive thru is not remotely fast food. The burger was unremarkable - it wasn't bad - but wasn't anything I'd go out of my way to get again - honestly Burger King does a better job. Fries were no different than BK or McDs. Wendy's are better. The strawberry limeade I didn't actually like at first - it was way to sweet for me - but after it got watered down by melting ice it was actually pretty good - the only highlight in the experience. The service was friendly - my order was accurate - but the wait is insane. SO I don't get the buzz about Sonic - it's just another run of the mill fast food joint - they have a few items on the menu like dogs you don't see elsewhere which makes it a little different I guess. Plus there is the drive up service on roller skates - that's neat - I'd hate to work there tho - can you imagine the mishaps?!?! Good food but bad service, twice went there at about 10 pm on a Saturday. Took 20 mins to get the order after we push the button, and another 20 mins to get the order delivered to the car. theres no sonic close to me so after seeing 5 commecials in a row i went on a hunt to find this one. the service was pretty fast for a busy saturday night and the employee was very helpful to me as a sonic virgin. next time i have a craving i will def come back. it was worth the drive. read more

Its your regular fast food joint food quality wise, but the charm about this chain is the old school appeal of it being like a traditional drive in stop. You won't be taken back in time to be paying less than a dollar to fill up your 67' fastback but you'll have no problem driving up in whatever you drive and experience the charm of roller skating servers taking your order and bringing it right to your car window. Its a nice change of pace from the regular hustle fast food has come to be known for. Bring the kids and show how it used to be done. Biggest thing this place going for it is its charm second is its drink menu. If it goes in a cup they have it or can make it, hint come during happy our 2pm-4pm for drinks and after 8pm for shakes. Food wise like i said the usual fast food level but still tasty just not too healthy. Downside to this location is how busy the drive thru is considering its the only one within 30 miles or so the wait is worth it. Better than my last go-around with Sonic, which was probably 10-15 years ago. Food is a step above McDonald's and the drink and shake varieties are what make it fun. Easy to put away 2-3000 calories here and not bat an eye so couple this with a good gym day. Burger was a little dry, onion rings were above the average fast food faire, I liked how I could get vanilla in my Coke Zero, and the soft serve waffle cone was pretty tasty. read more

I don't think I've ever left a restaurant before my order was successfully placed until today. Whoever was trying to take my order either had no earthly clue what they were doing or was incapable of operating an intercom. I asked if milkshakes came as a drink option with the 2 kids meals I was ordering (under $4 apiece) and was told yes. I asked for those and a large soda. When my order total came to over $15, I asked how the total had gotten so high. After about two minutes of either silence or "what?", I found out the milkshakes were an additional $2-something apiece. Okay- I only wanted one then. The order taker gave me my new total: $9-something. "Oh, sorry- what kind of drink did you want with the other meal?" I asked for a chocolate milk, which somehow brought my total back to $14-something. What??? I explained that I was frustrated and done with this experience and drove off. I left with two crying kids and no intention of returning. read more
