Everything about Somewhere café in Navy Yard is 10/10! I typically come to get a matcha latte from their seasonal menu & chocolate croissant for breakfast (which if you come before 10:00am, you order at the window outside & they have outside seating). During the afternoon, I am able to go inside to order & browse their collection of clothes & shoes. The drinks are made to perfection & I'm still thinking about their caramel apple butter matcha from their fall/ winter seasonal menu! The matcha's are a beautiful green color that don't taste like grass, but also don't taste super sweet as if I'm drinking sweet milk. My personal favorite at the moment is the Tokyo fog, which is an earl grey tea with matcha cold foam. The staff are very kind, welcoming, & knowledgeable about the drinks and clothing/ shoe collections. I personally love that they have their own merch that you can buy & you can wear/ use it without feeling like you're a walking logo lol. I get anxiety when shopping due to having so many options or other stores breathing down my neck, but the staff makes it so easy for me to shop & feel good about my purchases. SOMEWHERE is an interesting combination of street wear store and cafe in Navy Yard, and I stopped by before the Nationals vs. Dodgers game last Saturday afternoon. Majority of Navy Yard is populated with local chains, and SOMEWHERE offered something unique. BLUE MATCHA - 8 I think this is just milk + spirulina (don't think there's actually matcha in here, but maybe there was so little of it that I couldn't tell). Either way, it was disappointing. It tasted like blue-colored whole milk with a slight "sea umami" flavor from the spirulina. Definitely not worth how much I paid for in terms of quality and quantity. read more

I can't believe I never knew about this spot! A coffee shop AND sneaker boutique in one? Yeah, this is my type of place. They have a solid collection of sneakers and usually carry Jordan releases (definitely check ahead for drop dates). I was debating on what to grab, and the staff gave me great recommendations. I actually came back on a different day for a sneaker drop no regrets at all. So happy I found this gem. :) And the funny part? When someone asks where I got my shoes from and I say "Somewhere," it sounds like I'm gatekeeping but I'm literally telling the truth. Genius branding if you ask me. lol Since I was already there, I had to try one of their seasonal matcha drinks: CARAMEL BUTTER MATCHA - $8.50 I ordered it with oat milk. The blend was smooth and well-balanced. I personally would've loved it just a tad sweeter, but honestly, no complaints. It was still really good. The staff? Super helpful, friendly, and just a whole vibe. The energy in there is welcoming and cool without being overwhelming. They also sell merch, which feels very intentional and on-brand not just random pieces thrown in. Speaking of branding, I LOVE the name and the decor. It's clean, spacious, and aesthetically pleasing. And that blue bag? So fire. While I was waiting to attend a holiday luncheon I stopped in here to grab a matcha and finish some work. I had an amazing experience and lo and behold they had a blue matcha latte on the menu which contained blue spirulina. I was in heaven. Between the nice and friendly staff, the music and vibes, free WIFI and delicious matcha. This is a must try. It's in close proximity to everything and you get a great item for the price. If I could give somewhere a rating higher than 5 stars, I would! I already loved somewhere before I started coming to the cafe to get the matcha. I'd normally go to the other location just to check the shoes out and pick up some shoes if I wanted them but once I found out about the cafe, I started taking that drive to the other side lol! I loveeee matcha and they make it just right at this location! I get it just about everyday to start my day and it gives me than energy boost I need to get my day going. I do get tempted from time to time and pick up some shoes but I try my best not to lol! The matcha is totally worth it (not too expensive) and they're always so nice when I go in, they know what drink I want now before I even say it and that makes me laugh . They also have loyalty cards and they stamp it at the cafe when you purchase a drink so I thought that was pretty cool too! Everytime someone asks me where I get my matcha, I say "somewhere" and they're like no really and I'm like "somewhere" lol because they don't think it's an actual place so I thought it was time for me to finally do a review on one of my favorite spots! This place was not what we expected - we were headed to a different coffee shop, walked passed here, and couldn't not go in. It's such a cool, unique spot. Mostly a clothing shop, very modern and clean. And they just happen to serve coffee. Good coffee. Their menu is simple, but everything you need. And great espresso. Somewhere is an incredible, local coffee shop and clothing retailer. I've visited this place twice and can't wait to come back soon. The barista is super friendly and patient while answering questions. They also sell freshly roasted coffee beans with a selection of various processing types and country of origin. Each coffee is finely tuned and tastes delicious. You can also order your drink with the coffee beans they sell. Great for those trying to taste the options before selecting their coffee bag. I got a bag of their Natty Cheffe and look forward to trying it at home. Yet to try their matcha but I'm looking forward to it! They also have a good selection of clothes. This is a cool spot! It's a joint clothing store and coffee shop, and it's really unique in its offerings and setup. The quintessential offering here is the blue matcha (might look a bit grey in this pic but I swear it's blue) and it's actually delicious and tasty too. One of my favorite matchas I've had. I've also tried a banana bread and cold brew here and have enjoyed everything I have. The barista was very friendly and the almond milk cappuccino he made me was excellent, albeit very expensive like everything else these days. Street wear is not my style, but I respect the vibe. My friend told me he stumbled into this shop and said it was some sort of pop-up clothing store with coffee. I hesitated because anytime a shop tries to do something with coffee that's not actually coffee, they miserably fail. Well, Somewhere was a true success. Carrying coffee from the Hyattsville-based Coffee roasted "Vigilante", Somewhere's vibe's and energy were just right. I didn't get a chance to take a look at any of the clothes, but I'll save that for next time I drop in near the Navy Yard. I ended up getting a 16 oz. Drip coffee that was Colombian with some earthy tones. I usually enjoy more floral notes but this cup held me down. The human behind the counter treated me like a human and was knowledgeable. The vibes of Somewhere were good. When you walk in you immediately are hit with the aroma of fresh coffee and they also have sanitizer right by the door. Very hip and happening and trendy, and I love the concept of mixing street fashion with a cafe. The store itself is very minimalistic and open, and they have a selection of some really funky looking high end street wear. The people working in the retail side of the store were pretty nice too, and they even have a little fitting room in the corner. Was not actually as impressed with the cafe side of Somewhere. While it looks and smells great, the barista wasn't super friendly and the system for ordering was really odd. There would be people who had already ordered who were waiting for their drinks at the register since they hadn't paid, which caused confusion about where the line was and who had already ordered. I got the iced matcha latte with oat milk. It was good, but overpriced, especially considering what I was given was an unmixed cup with matcha at the bottom and oat milk on top. I had to vigorously stir it to get it mixed (see my pictures). I also tried a bit of the vegan Vietnamese coffee, which was quite small and actually pretty strong/not as sweet tasting as I'd expect for Vietnamese coffee. But, they did have sip lids and paper straws which I like. read more

The Service/Space: I really like the vibe of this place! It is a coffee shop in the front and streetwear store in the back. The decor is very minimal and clean with some seating. I can see it being a pretty quiet and laidback place to sit and do work. Seating is pretty exposed, I usually prefer to have corners to tuck away in. The barista was very friendly and I could tell he was spending a lot of time to make my coffee and I appreciate that. The Food/Price: I had a few pastries here which were pretty good, but I think they would of been better if they were heated. I'm not sure where the pastries come from but they had some unique flavors. I had the vegan Vietnamese iced coffee which used coconut condensed milk, which was really good and tasted the same as a traditional Vietnamese iced coffee. The price point was pretty high for everything though, the iced coffee was $6. I think that is the only reason why I didn't give this coffee shop a 5 star because I feel like the prices are pretty inflated for what it is. I would definitely use this place as a "treat yourself" coffee shop, rather than something I regularly visit. read more

Wanted to write a review that wasn't just about the coffee. Somewhere was having an event at their Navy Yard location with a local DMV designer. My sister and I arrived to the store about 3+ hours before the event started but the staff was really nice about it and invited us to hang out until. We ended up buying coffee (really good!) doing some shopping and just enjoying the music and atmosphere of the shop. Once the event started the staff guided us to the front of the line and lined up everyone else in the order they came in. Really appreciated that! Somewhere has unique streetwear and are constantly updating their inventory with the latest drops, will definitely be back! read more
