    Breakfast Burrito

Amazing coffee shop. They had great breakfast burritos when we went back in February. Looking forward to returning.

Decided to switch things up and check out a new coffee shop. Parking is really simple here. The baristas were very friendly. We tried their dirty chai latte and an almond croissant. It was $20 for 2 drinks and a pastry which I feel is pretty steep but at least it was delicious. I think most of the cost came from the espresso shots which were $2 a shot. They have plenty of seats downstairs as well as upstairs. The coffee shop didn't have anyone inside at first but by the time we were leaving there was at least 10 of us. I also loved how environmentally friendly they were with reusable cups. I'll be back, thank you

I've visited twice and find the coffee to be excellent. As others have mentioned, the staff aims to please. Am impressed with the skills of the baristas. They very much care about what the customer wants. The space features 2 floors of seating. The decor is inviting, very clean and crisp. Nice background music plays at low decibels. Prices are reasonable for the area. Cool Coffee is fast becoming my go-to.

Despite a plethora of restaurants in Brookland, there aren't many coffee shops compared to other neighborhoods. Visiting the area every Sunday morning, Zeke's is our go-to coffee shop. Now there are options thanks to Cool Coffee. Located in a corner brick building with a neon sign out front with a sunglasses-wearing smiley face, it's open every day from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. The inside is bare bones with several places to sit and relax. They have a full coffee menu and a glass box of pastries from muffins to croissants. My latte and my wife's americano were really well done. Very tasty and strong. (They brew Nagadi coffee from nearby Silver Spring, Maryland.) Service is excellent! Staff were friendly and they were committed to making us a great cup of coffee.

A 100 percent welcome addition to the Brookland, Northeast DC neighborhood! This much needed coffee shop/cafe is the ambitious plan of owner Mr. Robel. A DC local, he opened the shop as a labor of over to the neighborhood, and it shows. Cavernous street level space is accompanied by friendly service and pretty good freshly ground coffee & lattes. Note - there are no options for flavors - the owner wants the goodness of the coffee to shine through. In addition to free wifi, there is a FULL upstairs with couches, lounging chairs, and a desk to work from (that desk will likely be highly coveted because there's only one for now. There will be growing pains as Cool Coffee just opened this past week and there will be adjustments by the owner, staff, and community - sharing really good energy this place will become a neighborhood anchor. Five stars for friendly service, really good coffee, amazing space, and free wifi. Will definitely be back. Hope to see you there!

Great coffee and the service was good. The ambiance seems to be chill, however, I just stopped in to get coffee.

Mixt is an absolute gem…read more I like the variety of food stalls that are available to visitors; La Michoacana is my usual go to as it offers some great Mexican fare. The other stalls offer seafood, burgers, wings, and pizza options. There's 4-6 food options today and have plenty of variety for those with specific tastes. Mixt is a GREAT social venue; it has a huge U shaped bar that easily seats 25+ guests. The weekday and Sunday all-day happy hours offer some great prices on cocktails, beer, wine, and mocktails. The bartenders are always friendly and attentive. Because the bar is so large, I've never had trouble finding a seat for my group of friends. Perhaps the best use of Mixt is as an event and meetup space; I've been to several gatherings and events here and have had a great experience every time. There is a second floor open space which is perfect for a group of 20+ folks. We've also set up impromptu events around the large bar area; there are so many seating options, it was easy to occupy 10-15 seats without monopolizing the space. Mixt also hosts some really great events; we've been for Halloween bingo and Christmas music bingo. They do a really great job of pulling the local community into their space to enjoy food, drinks, and togetherness. Parking can sometimes be tricky -- there is a small free parking garage that fits about 10 cars. If you're not part of the lucky 10, be prepared to park in the nearby neighborhood and walk a block or two. It's not the worst parking, but a larger garage would be useful. Looking forward to my next visit to Mixt!

As of today, my favorite restaurant is Big Fish. I find myself getting their small fish fry over and over again. The meal comes with different types of fish and they are all seasoned well. The service is also quick and friendly. I've been to MiXt for a couple of events in their upstairs area and that space is nice for hosting small or medium sized events. The bar is also a nice touch and the drinks are good. I've been here many times when the bar is packed out and it seems like a great time!! There are plenty of tables and outlets so this is probably a comfy coworking space in the daytime. There are a few parking spaces in the connected garage and there is free street parking in the surrounding neighborhood.

Plenty of the years didn't end with Z as there was no business to represent. I visited Zeke's on Wednesday, January 22, 2025. I schlepped to DC for a Yelp event that afternoon and decided to wifi nearby. I knew Zeke's from trying them once in Lauraville, Baltimore City, 6 months earlier in July 2024. See my 5-star review of the Baltimore one written in August 2025. The coffee drink I got was very good. My main issue was the barista was unfriendly like asking him a couple of menu questions was inconvenient for him. It was a bit crowded, but I managed to find a seat and do some work. I could see why it would be crowded, the drinks are good, and it was an Arctic icebox outside that day; it was the only warm business on this block one could hang out for a while. The mood was somber in there as I overheard people talking about you know who's inauguration just 2 days earlier. If the barista had been friendly, they would've gotten either a 4 or 5-star, but it kind of soured my experience with this location.

Latin pastry is drier and less sweet than what I'm used to. Here, there are worthy exceptions. The semita with pineapple-molasses swirl is good. The cheese filling in some items has an unexpectedly refined flavor. The bread pudding is my favorite, moist and eggy with plump raisins and a dark caramelized crust. Pan Lourdes is strictly no-frills. Along with basic coffee, you'll find the Hispanic classics, plus a couple of doughnuts. You have to ask for bread, which they keep out back. That being said, don't be surprised if the person assisting you knows little or no English. The pastries are all behind glass cases, and things didn't look disturbed from day-to-day, which gives me the impression they aren't removed overnight, but I am making a broad generalization (thus, my assumption should be taken with a grain of salt). The pastries are of great quality, though. They are flaky, light, and tasty. I was surprised, since it's a huge departure from the sugary, syrupy concoctions offered in most malls, airports, and coffee shops. The real star here is the price, though. Two pastries (one a pineapple empanada, the other a large equivalent to an eclair or canoli) cost less than $3 with tax. If I ever happen upon this neighborhood, I definitely know where I will satiate my morning sweet tooth craving.
