Decided to switch things up and check out a new coffee shop. Parking is really simple here. The baristas were very friendly. We tried their dirty chai latte and an almond croissant. It was $20 for 2 drinks and a pastry which I feel is pretty steep but at least it was delicious. I think most of the cost came from the espresso shots which were $2 a shot. They have plenty of seats downstairs as well as upstairs. The coffee shop didn't have anyone inside at first but by the time we were leaving there was at least 10 of us. I also loved how environmentally friendly they were with reusable cups. I'll be back, thank you

I've visited twice and find the coffee to be excellent. As others have mentioned, the staff aims to please. Am impressed with the skills of the baristas. They very much care about what the customer wants. The space features 2 floors of seating. The decor is inviting, very clean and crisp. Nice background music plays at low decibels. Prices are reasonable for the area. Cool Coffee is fast becoming my go-to.

Despite a plethora of restaurants in Brookland, there aren't many coffee shops compared to other neighborhoods. Visiting the area every Sunday morning, Zeke's is our go-to coffee shop. Now there are options thanks to Cool Coffee. Located in a corner brick building with a neon sign out front with a sunglasses-wearing smiley face, it's open every day from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. The inside is bare bones with several places to sit and relax. They have a full coffee menu and a glass box of pastries from muffins to croissants. My latte and my wife's americano were really well done. Very tasty and strong. (They brew Nagadi coffee from nearby Silver Spring, Maryland.) Service is excellent! Staff were friendly and they were committed to making us a great cup of coffee.

A 100 percent welcome addition to the Brookland, Northeast DC neighborhood! This much needed coffee shop/cafe is the ambitious plan of owner Mr. Robel. A DC local, he opened the shop as a labor of over to the neighborhood, and it shows. Cavernous street level space is accompanied by friendly service and pretty good freshly ground coffee & lattes. Note - there are no options for flavors - the owner wants the goodness of the coffee to shine through. In addition to free wifi, there is a FULL upstairs with couches, lounging chairs, and a desk to work from (that desk will likely be highly coveted because there's only one for now. There will be growing pains as Cool Coffee just opened this past week and there will be adjustments by the owner, staff, and community - sharing really good energy this place will become a neighborhood anchor. Five stars for friendly service, really good coffee, amazing space, and free wifi. Will definitely be back. Hope to see you there!

Great coffee and the service was good. The ambiance seems to be chill, however, I just stopped in to get coffee.

Their regular coffee is great, and I've also gotten a dirty chai latte a few times which was perfect.

I cant believe that this was only my third visit. Ever since I read about Manifest Bread opening…read moreshop in Riverdale, I've meant to visit but kept forgetting to until a couple months ago and now I will make a more concerted effort to stop by on my day off. Manifest Bread not only has a neat variety of menu options but, the ambiance!!! It's a cool interior, clean bathrooms, and AMAZING STAFF! I've come twice for breakfast and once for their jambon beurre sandwich. My first breakfast included: - sweet potato bialy: interesting-in-a-good way grouping of ingredients and the crust was crisp - biscuit with butter & jam: biscuit was flaky, crisp, and yet doughy; the right amount of butter, and jam provided tartiness/refreshing bite - olive oil cake: no complaints! My second breakfast included: - biscuit with butter & jam: a must have! - basque cheesecake: I have to be in the mood for cheesecake and I'd aay it was "light and airy" but may not be the best judge here - cardamom bun: last 2 times I came here, the cardamom bun was coated in a thick white frosting, but this time, it was different, so i HAD to go for it and for a fan of cardamom, this was superbub! ABUNDANT amountof cardamom and right amount of moistness! I would have ordered a bialy again but new I was going to have a big lunch so will get it next time. The jambon beurre sandwich was not what I had expected as it was more...flavourful and salty than I would have preferred as I like a plain butter and ham on a baguette sandwich...however, you can taste the quality of the meats used. UPDATE: Went back for breakfast and this time got the mulled apple cider and: - onion poppyseed bialy: I did not need creamcheese with this and it was fine, but if you eat the crust with butter and the apple butter - yum. Crust was on the tough-chew side, but flavor profile was good. Now that I've had it again, will stick to the biscuit. - morning bun: very flaky, crisp, snd the sugar just got all over and me being a messy eater, I felt like I got the sugar all over me and sticky, too. Flavour was great, buuuut... - buttermilk biscuit with butter and apple butter: yum!!!!

Parking is challenging at peak times. The selection of baked goods is varied and fresh. The line to buy items can get long. There's a decent-sized space to "eat-in", should you want. The sweet potato/chili/pistachio bialy is quite a creation, really like it, zings big time. I've never seen that flavor combo in a bialy before and hope they keep making it. The gingerbread with meyer lemon glaze has a very deep ginger flavor that's quite memorable. Not as keen about the breads. The community sandwich loaf is too plain for me and the sourdough breads are tame.

Took a jaunt (.5) mile walk to check out this bright, airy, and immaculate social spot. Weather grabbing a bite, meeting up, studying or simply grabbing a bite you'll be satisfied. The table next to me got a panini with fries and a bowl. Both were gorgeous and deliciously plated with dinner sized portions. I, however, kept it simple. I got pancakes without blueberries, 1 egg, and bacon. Everything is a la cart. I was expecting Big Box pancakes. These were anything but! They were perfectly cooked with a light crisp, very dense but airy. Vanilla sewn in each bite. They were THICK too. I was pleasantly surprised. Initially thought the price was exorbitant but the taste and appeal made up for it. Eggs were scrambled to perfection and seasoned too. I requested salt before I tasted them. So glad I didn't add any. Bacon was regular nothing major to rotate. Now the Sakura Latte wasn't as pretty as the one on Insta but it was delicious none the less. Not sweet but no earthy either. Cherry after taste but smooth due to the milk. I did add a sugar free vanilla syrup. The Cafe is beautiful. Contemporary and masculine furniture with feminine accompaniment due to the vast windows and pillows that let in a lot of natural light. Its definitely worth a stop if you're near. I really enjoyed my visit.

Latin pastry is drier and less sweet than what I'm used to. Here, there are worthy exceptions. The semita with pineapple-molasses swirl is good. The cheese filling in some items has an unexpectedly refined flavor. The bread pudding is my favorite, moist and eggy with plump raisins and a dark caramelized crust. Pan Lourdes is strictly no-frills. Along with basic coffee, you'll find the Hispanic classics, plus a couple of doughnuts. You have to ask for bread, which they keep out back. That being said, don't be surprised if the person assisting you knows little or no English. The pastries are all behind glass cases, and things didn't look disturbed from day-to-day, which gives me the impression they aren't removed overnight, but I am making a broad generalization (thus, my assumption should be taken with a grain of salt). The pastries are of great quality, though. They are flaky, light, and tasty. I was surprised, since it's a huge departure from the sugary, syrupy concoctions offered in most malls, airports, and coffee shops. The real star here is the price, though. Two pastries (one a pineapple empanada, the other a large equivalent to an eclair or canoli) cost less than $3 with tax. If I ever happen upon this neighborhood, I definitely know where I will satiate my morning sweet tooth craving.
