Argentinian Beef and Chicken Empanadas
Liana B.

The rumors are true - Lost Sock Roasters is as good as everyone says it is! I was nearby for work for two consecutive days and it was necessary that I stopped in both days. The team there is super friendly and kind - I loved seeing them interact with their regulars (there were many). Service is very timely despite being busy and the cafe itself is very cute inside (limited seating but it seems like they have a great outdoor setup). The drinks are super smooth and flavorful! Their rotating signature drinks and syrups will keep me coming back. And the empanada are a must try. Highly recommend stopping by!

Everything from the coffee to the empanadas to the seating were perfect! This is the cutest coffee shop to visit for a breakfast. If I lived here, I would walk down here every weekend to enjoy a cup of coffee first thing in the morning. The service is friendly and they keep the indoor and outdoor seating areas clean. They have a wide variety of coffee, tea and espresso drinks and plenty of pastries and freshly baked empanadas to enjoy. I ordered the nitro-better than Starbucks-not too strong but also not weak. I also enjoyed the beef empanada-stuffed with flavorful ground beef in a buttery, flakey crust. I will be back the next time I am in town.

Really nice baristas and I would 100% return for the empanadas! The coffee wasn't my favorite. Plenty of street parking outside via park mobile. A good amount of seating inside but they've also got a nice outdoor patio!

Such a perfect cafe! Everything is tasty and consistently good every time you come. Staff is super friendly and helpful if you have questions on the menu as well. It does get pretty busy on weekends but the line still moves pretty fast. If it's too busy inside they also have outdoor seating. I had the london eye latte and an egg sando and I would 100% recommend!

A great coffee spot in Takoma. I love a good latte and the maple latte was a great sweet drink. I also got a croissant which was nice and flaky. This place is a very adorable spot and I had heart a lot of really great things about it and it did not disappoint. Service is also great- drinks come out quick but are also made with care.

While I was in the area, I stopped by the Lost Sock Roasters, because, one, the name sounded adorable, and, two, I wanted to get a caffeine fix and try out their empanadas. I ordered: +the Rose Cardamom Latte - prepared with syrup, espresso, and milk; this wasn't 'extra hot' as requested, and you could hardly taste the rose or the cardamom; it just tasted like warm milk... +an order of 3 empanadas - spinach and feta; Argentinian Style Chicken; and, Argentinian Style Beef; the empanadas were not fresh or warmed through properly, as the filling was cold; and, considering that you're not ordering 1, but 3, they should serve the number of dipping sauce accordingly; just seems that they were super cheap about it or not considering this at all Staff were friendly; the place is definitely small, so there's only a handful of tables and tight counter seating; definitely not recommended for those who get claustrophobic. I'm glad I was able to try this place out, but most likely would not return due to the disappointing experience. Metered street parking can be found in the area. +flavorless coffees +food is not heated through properly +cheap with the sauces for empanadas +metered street parking available

Passionfruit Espresso Tonic

My review is largely based on the fact they make espresso tonic, one of my favorite summer drinks. Had a passionfruit espresso tonic today, and it's very tasty. (Also available with matcha instead of espresso.)

The earl grey latte is a problem!! Soooo good! I also tried the rose cardamom one it was good but the earl grey reigns supreme to me!! 10 out of 10 would recommend for coffee and even to work out of. It is small and intimate but pretty quiet and chill. Everyone that works there is nice and friendly!

Chicken empanada

Good coffee! It was busy when we came Sunday morning but we managed to get a table and order some breakfast as well. I got the iced London eye latte which reminded me of a London fog but in latte form. It was delicious and I loved the level of sweetness! I also got their chicken empanada which I thought was ok. The employees are super friendly and I love the area lost sock is in as well.

Pour over on a cool afternoon

Really needing a coffee and in an unfamiliar neighborhood, I was lucky to come across this place! It's small enough to be cozy without being claustrophobic, and the interior is bright tiles and big windows that offset the dark wood. For nice days there is a small patio out front. I enjoy trying the different techniques and approaches that roasters have with their coffees, and appreciate that the staff is knowledgeable about the different coffees they have. The staff was really nice and made good recommendations based on the types of coffee that I prefer. Their pour over is served a bit cooler than I usually drink it, but the roast was well balanced so I didn't mind the change of pace.

I've been attending the 1st location (Takoma), since they opened in 2021. The baristas, coffee, and music choice is what keeps me coming back.

I think many coffee nerds in DC say this is the best craft coffee roaster in DC. After coming here, I agree. The drip is on point. The staff is knowledgeable. They know what they're doing, and it is a busy operation. I got some empanadas, and thought they were just okay. One of mine was over salted, and they exchanged it. So, no complaints on the great service. The inside of the shop is eclectic and hipster. The lines are VERY long, and for good reason: the coffee is great. I took a 45 minute subway ride to get here, and it was worth it.

Coffee was good but the ambiance was better. Enjoyed the breakfast options but also enjoyed the proximity to donut run more.

So very doggy friendly (& kitty friendly - they have foster events)! My first experience here and it was unexpectedly wonderful. Worth the drive? Yes, if you want a yummy well-brewed and smooth cup o'java and a tasty, healthy snack. They make everyone feel welcome here whether you're on two or four legs. Service is so patient, helpful, and on it! And, their regular customers even seemed really friendly & kind, too. When you leave, you even feel like you've done something good for the environment in addition to making your tastebuds & belly happy. The people who work here care, and it shows. I don't mind at all pulling extra cash out of my pocket here as long as it's helping to create something sustainable for everyone, including making sure a well-run business stays in business to benefit the community it serves. Stop by, say hello to everyone, and grab a delish java beverage, some beans or tea for home, a treat for your pup, and a tasty treat for you. Your pup can even walk in with you!

Was next door getting my hair done and decided to drop in and grab a coffee for the road…read more Next time I'll try breakfast! Was greeted with a smile...clean store, friendly staff, and not busy at all for a Saturday morning. I just ordered a black coffee...no sugar...no cream! 10/10 for me. Happy Yelping!

I've been reading other reviews on this restaurant, and they really confuse me. This place is rated…read moreat above a 4, near a 5. But, my experience was nowhere even close to either of those. I came here for lunch recently, and while the server was friendly, they did have to frequently go to the chef to see if they even had items that were on their menu. The whole ordering process was genuinely confusing and stressful. I ordered an iced chai latte, a signature caramel iced latte, a tuna melt, and a bacon, egg, and cheese. When I got my drinks, the caramel latte was not up to standard, (my partner took a couple sips and trashed it) and the iced chai, in some magic trick, turned out to be a matcha latte. Now, I am a matcha person, but this was not a well done matcha latte, so much so that I couldn't do more than a sip. When I got the food (after about 25 mins), the tuna melt I ordered (which famously has cheese) had no... cheese. It was just a lukewarm tuna sandwich. Furthermore, my bacon, egg, and cheese, which famously has bacon, had no... bacon. This genuinely was one of the worst eating experiences I have ever had. I ended up giving my egg and cheese to my partner to take because I was so disgusted with the whole situation. I give credit to the server for her effort, but otherwise, this place is not it. If I could give a zero, I would.
