Line was a bit hectic & the space is small so you don't really have a good place to stand while you're waiting for your drink. We got a vanilla & caramel latte with oat milk & single origin blend. Coffee was average & general - I drink a lot of coffee so maybe why I didn't see the wow factor. read more

I have been a customer for several years now and have increasingly become disappointed by the espresso drinks, not necessarily the quality but the preparation. The temperature has consistently been lukewarm, which makes the taste bland and unpleasant. It's a bummer because the shop used to be much better than what it is now. I ordered a flat white. read more

Love it here. It gets busy, but even when there is a reasonable delay the workers acknowledge you. I've tried plain to specialty drinks, hot and cold and everything always hits the spot. Food is great too. Can't resist getting the salmon cronut sandwich and a homemade empanada. There's not a ton of seating, but I could spend all day in the Adirondack chairs outside if I could. Basically narrowed down our home search based on sitting in said chairs and now we live within walking distance. There's a changing table in the bathroom, but there's a step to get inside the cafe if strollering. Will need to try their new location! read more

We decided to get some coffee to eat with our donuts from Donut Run (right near each other). Very friendly staff and quick to give our drinks. I ordered the Cold Brew to drink on a hot day. Sadly, I thought it tasted okay. I usually finish my coffee, but I didn't want to finish mine from here. There was nothing out of the ordinary, it seemed pretty.. bland? We were quite disappointed but my friend liked her latte, so maybe order that? Outside of coffee, they sell really nice plants! read more

Love the vibes and the people here! I enjoyed my London Eye Latte. Definitely a more subtle flavor. I also enjoyed the Pan de Yuca (like the Brazilian cheesy bread) and the Ricotta Get This Toast on Brioche!! This is an excellent place for good coffee and quick cafe snacks. Not too much space to sit, but very nice space with cute decor! read more

My neighbors own this spot! This is such a cute little coffee shop. I mean it's really pretty spacious inside for it being in Takoma Park/Takoma. As the weather gets nice I plan to come down and work outside on their patio area for the day. For my order I had a cortado sweetened and an empanada. My cortado was not quite sweet enough but when I let the barista know he sweetened it more for me and it was just right. I'd say that counts for excellent service. My empanada was delicious and I could have honestly eaten another one but I took my food to go. Will definitely be back for another empanada and to enjoy the space and work outside. read more

Lost Sock Roasters - Nice and spacious - Coffee Roasteries Near Me - Washington, DC, District of Columbia

If you love coffee and want some of D.C.'s best, visit Lost Socks Roaster out of a 1930s theater in Takoma. After working out of Brightwood for a number of years, they opened their first cafe in February 2021. Here's why you should visit: 1) Coffee: They have a full coffee menu from lattes to pour overs to cortados. The coffee is sustainably sourced and roasted in small batches in Washington, D.C. If you're not into coffee, still go. They make hot chocolate and chai lattes. 2) Food: Every morning they put out fresh pastries (sweet and savory) and empanadas. For $10, you get three empanadas. I ordered buffalo chicken, bacon and egg and beef empanadas. They come with sauce making them the best I've ever had. The filling is flavorful and the dough doesn't overpower it. 3) Space: It's well-designed with a stunning bar where you order. In partnership with University of Maryland, art hangs on the walls. During the pandemic, you can't stay, but eventually there will be a few seats. If you love coffee, Lost Socks is worth your time. They also sell their beans at Made In DC shops across town. read more

A cute cafe tucked away inside the museum on the street. We got an earl grey and it was quite good! The empanadas were also yummy. You can get 3 for $11. The services was also great, as they're super friendly and also bring you your food and drink! I would highly recommend whenever you're in dupont! read more

Great & cute coffee shop if you're coming from the DC side of Takoma Park. Easy to get to, great quality of food & beverages. The staff was friendly & quick. I didn't stick around, but there seems to be a good amount of outdoor seating. It's first come first serve, so if you're planning on making a day of it, you'll likely want to come on the earlier side to snag a spot inside or out. read more

Great coffee shop here in Tacoma! After our first visit, we ventured no further and returned even morning to buy and try their coffee. What a great place and atmosphere to sit and enjoy a quick delicious sandwich and quick cup of coffee. This was my highlight in Tacoma! read more

This cafe is only a mile walk from my sister's house, so I decided to walk here on a super nice DC morning. They have great coffee here. They roast their beans and so their coffee is not bitter. As usual I got a cold brew. I had it on their nice patio while I waited for my sister to pick me up. I am not hungry in the mornings and my sister and I planned to have an early lunch, so I didn't get any food. If you do want something to eat, they have savory empanadas and breakfast sandwiches. I've gotten the Empanadas and Smoked Salmon Cragel (croissant shaped like a bagel) before and they were great, so you can have a delicious, hot breakfast here as well. The staff is really nice. They encourage you to wear a mask indoors as you're ordering, but I forgot to bring my mask. They let me order anyway. I took my coffee outside as soon as I got it. When I went back in to order a coffee for my sister maybe an hour later, the young man remembered my name . :) I'd definitely come back here again next time I visit my sisters. read more

This place was pretty busy in the early afternoon. I like that this coffee shop has a good range of food options - bakery pastries, sandwiches, and empanadas. I like the open concept of the interior. There is a good amount of seating outside and inside. The iced latte we got was very good. The coffee taste was spot on. However, the cappuccino I ordered was not my favorite. For my preference, I like my cappuccinos with less foam and not very hot - but I understand that the 'traditional' cappuccinos typically have a lot of foam. Next time I come, I will try a hot latte. I got two empanadas, steak & cheese and spinach one. The steak & cheese one was so good and they give a side of sauce for each empanada. I highly recommend either flavor. read more

5/5 for the overall experience, and 4/5 for my dulce de leche latte Super cute shop tucked away in Takoma Park. They have some seating inside as well as a small patio out front, which was fully shaded at 11am by the building and ideal for dog watching ‍ Quick and attentive service, which is always awesome. I got the dulce de leche latte and thought the coffee was good, but honestly couldn't taste the dulce de leche at all. I'll go back and try another coffee beverage and see how that is. Will plan on trying one of their empanadas and/or breakfast sandwiches next time I come through! read more

Lost Sock Roasters is an excellent little coffee shop found in Takoma Park. I visited a number of times and both the coffee and breakfast options are amazing. In particular, their specialty lattes, such as their earl Grey, latte, or hazelnut flat white stand out. It is clear that their syrups are homemade, especially that in their hazelnut flat white which has a rich nutty aroma and flavor. In addition, their breakfast fare are an amazing way to start the day. Their smoked salmon Sandwich is well-balanced with capers and dill. Their egg Sando as also cheesy and crisp. Although the coffee shop is small, and it might be sometimes hard to get a seat, service is always quick and friendly. I'll definitely be back. read more

Love the vibe of this coffee shop in Takoma Park. They have a good amount of seating inside and on the patio, although they don't have wifi so that's something to keep in mind. I tried the horchata with an added espresso shot. It's a bit on the smaller side and I don't think they upsize, but the price is super reasonable. I personally like my lattes a bit sweeter and milkier, but the coffee itself was very smooth and tasted high-quality! It also smelled amazing, so next time I stop by I'd definitely want to try their breakfast or pastry options! read more

Incredibly good! One of the few coffeeshops with such great sourcing and roasting and pouring get a perfect pourover extraction, that bring out the subtle flavors. The snacks and specialty drinks are wonderfully creative and delicious. Simple but expert. Yo! The vibes at this place are ON! Great music that I've never heard of often makes me want to nod along. Bright and clean, with a great outdoor patio. Lightly hipster. Pure relaxation to sit with the drinks and read or chat :) Wish there was wifi, but I'll make do with my hotspot. Plenty of plugs. read more

Since I was kitty-corner over at donut run, I had to try this coffee shop. I love the relaxing ambience inside with tons of plants and white/glass decor. It definitely made me forget the bitter cold outside. I ordered a coquito seasonal latte with oat milk and it was a blend of Vietnamese coffee and a flat white. We also ordered the gaucho sandwich which they hand-delivered all toasty warm in its paper sleeve. The mushrooms were the best part of the sandwich--could have used some more chimichurri sauce so that the whole sandwich was evenly flavored. read more

Their coffee is the best of the local shops and they have fun seasonal options for flavored lattes or horchatas with espresso shots. The food is surprisingly delicious for a coffee shop with breakfast and lunch options from crogels to sandwiches. Ambiance is cute and modern with nice indoor and outdoor seating options, and service is friendly. My one complaint is that on weekends it is not handicap accessible because the handicap entrance is through Children's National, which locks its doors on weekends. They should add a ramp to the front entrance to allow for easy stroller access. (Also I think it's hilarious that someone left a 1 star review because they entered after the store was closed and an employee didn't ask what they wanted... because it was closed) read more

I was waiting for this shop to open and when it did I was not disappointed. I just love neighborhood cafes with the homey feel with nice sitting both indoors and out. As far as the coffee, I am not one of those coffee snobs but I love to try something new. So, I went for the London Eye with Earl Grey syrup (did not realize such a thing), espresso, and milk. Interesting taste that almost had a smoked taste to it. I also had the Steak & Cheese and Argentinian Style Chicken Empanada. They were nice and hot with the dipping sauce. I also saw homemade sandwiches which I will come back for another day. Great place overall! read more

So good. If you want a lot of coffee choices, and by that I mean traditional drinks made with lots of different coffees/origins, this as good as it gets. I had a fantastic single origin Cortado, but i also had a great Single origin cold brew, which is very hard to come by. That's not to take anything away from their house blends. I also had an excellent cortado made with their house blend. In fact, their house espresso blend was one of the best house espressos I can ever remember having. It had a good chocolate and creamy quality, but also very nice acidity. Staff was really nice. It's been a few weeks, so I don't remember the prices, but they seemed reasonable, especially for bags of coffee. And I didn't try the food. read more

I am a big fan of patronizing local coffee shops and glad that we have quite a few around us. They tend to have good customer service. One exception recently is this specific location of Lost Sock. I have gone to this location a few times. A couple of days ago, I took my daughter here to get something to drink. We walked into the shop about 4:03PM, and the door was not locked. Before I could get a word out, I a guy was so quick to shell across the counter that they were closed. He did not even ask a single question about what we want...as we were ushered out of the store. Could this guys have handled this is a better way? Aboslutely, yes, just ask Trader Joes what good customer service is. While I had a pleasant experience at the Kennedy St. location inside of ANXO. I don't plan on patronizing Lost Sock. There are too many local coffee shops with better customer service. read more

10/10 coffee shop and cafe. Light bites will fill you (not only pastries). Everything bagel crogel sandwich with egg and cheese is something I dream about. this place low key kind of sucks. quiet afternoon, barista more interested in chatting with friends than making customers drinks. the overall vibe is "this place isn't for you" feels like either you're part of the in group, or they'd rather you not be there. On top off it all, the WiFi isn't for customers. read more

I am extremely disappointed and frustrated with the service at your restaurant. For the second time now, I specifically ordered a chicken empanada, and yet again, I was given a beef empanada. This isn't just a simple mistake--this is a serious issue that goes against my health and spiritual practices. Your restaurant pretends to be a liberal, woke establishment, but clearly, you do not take the sentiments of people of color and other ethnicities into account. This is not just a slip-up; it's a blatant disregard for the beliefs and values of your customers. I trusted your establishment to respect my choices and dietary restrictions, but you have failed me twice. This was wrong, awful, and has left me deeply unhappy. I expect better, and I hope you will take this issue seriously moving forward. As a POC and queer person who practices Hinduism, I am extremely offended. Later in day I developed nausea and vomiting. And I am still sick. read more

What a find while in DC! 5 stars. We enjoyed a couple of capaccinos, espresso, and a latte-- all fantastic. Shots were pulled on a "Her", a gorgeous 2-group Slayer Steam. The coffee was well extracted and clearly roasted well. Nico and team (who are incredibly personable by the way) recently returned from a trip to Colombia to source beans-- so clearly, I had to try the Laboyano (Colombia) roast. Awesome. Their espresso blend, Two Steps (Brazil/Colombia), was also great. The team's ability to control their bean source, the roast process, and the espresso extraction shows in the cup. Speaking of roasting-- It is done at their off-site location on a 6-kilo Mill City Roasters machine. The shop is located in the renovated Takoma Theatre Building. Well thought-out and very comfortable interior. Thank you to the amazing staff at Cranes-- who suggested we try Lost Sock Roasters! :-) read more

This place reminds me of San Francisco where I'm from. The vibes are so open and friendly and the place, as well as the atmosphere, are full of character. One of the best unflavored iced triple shot oatmilk lattes I've ever had! Normally, it's too strong/runny and the ice melts fast but here, the latte was foamy and creamy with the right amount of ice that doesn't melt fast! The atmosphere is wonderful since the staff is positive and cheery. Wherever you sit, you have a view of the outside. They do have patio seating too. Heads up that they don't have wifi but the vibes here are great that you don't need your phone. :) only downside is that they didn't have any vegan options.
