Very busy on a Sunday and a little cramped but that's really just how coffee shops are. I still wish there was more space inside. Lots of interesting beans and plants for sale, and the food looks very good. The cortado I got left a lot to be desired and did not taste balanced at all. Overall pretty good, but I'd want a better espresso shot next time. read more

This hidden gem is a whole vibe. Went mid-day on a Friday to get some work done and had no issues with grabbing a table. Coffee, service and ambiance (lots of plants) make this spot classic coffee-house worthy. I will definitely be back here! Ordered cold brew and empanadas! 10/10. read more

Lost Sock is truly a wonderful little coffee spot over in Takoma and well worth the slight trek out there as someone with no car and beholden to the metro! Their breakfast sandwiches are absolutely lovely and their coffee is wonderful! I got an earl grey (if I recall correctly) flavored latte and was extremely impressed. The space is also great! Truly a fantastic spot for a coffee and breakfast. Will definitely be back! read more

I tried this coffee shop because it shares the building with Children's National Takoma. I don't think I'll eat there again though. I ordered the iced Horchata and it was tasty. A little too much ice but still good. I tried the bacon, egg, and cheese empanadas (3 for $20 or $4.50 each) and that's where I went wrong. I had to wait a bit longer than I expected I would since everything was already made and only needed to be warmed. Ok fine not that big of a deal. The highlight of the meal was the dipping sauce. It was delicious and for 3 empanadas I needed a lot more than what was served. Half way through the 2nd empanada I was scraping the container. The empanadas themselves were not good. There was a strong freezer burn taste to them and they were super dry. I needed that sauce!! So I'll come back to try the chai or coffee but definitely not the food. read more

I visited Lost Sock with a friend this past Wednesday. We stopped by Donut Run and wanted something to drink along with our donuts. This café is walking distance so it was easy to get to. Right now only outdoor seating is an option but there are plenty of umbrellas to keep the area nice and shady. The baristas were very helpful with recommending good decaf options for me. Customer service overall was great and the coffee was delicious. read more

I come for the coffee beans and stay for the snacks. The empanadas, sandwiches and pastries are scrumptious. A fantastic addition to the Takoma DC neighborhood. read more

Lost Sock Roasters - Exterior and patio seating - Coffee Roasteries Near Me - Washington, DC, District of Columbia

I am a long time patron of lost sock since they opened. The empanadas, breakfast sandwiches and drinks are unmatched. However they should consider having someone else besides the man cash because he has an attitude every time I come in there. Probably the worst part of going there is ordering. read more

Just moved to Brightwood from Columbia Heights and was pretty psyched for Lost Socks to open. My friends had recommended their beans and will actually bike up the hill (!) to Takoma for Lost Socks: *Coffee* We got a Cortado and two bags of their small-batch espresso blend (beans from Brazil and Guatemala with notes of dark chocolate and dried fruit). 10/10 *Space* Beautiful historic Takoma theater with a converted industrial-loft feel--open and airy for those worried about COVID exposure; beautiful coffee bar; incredible array of plants available for purchase for plant parents; very cool art collab with a local artist on the walls. *Empanadas* We got two of each flavor (pulled pork, buffalo chicken, and steak) and devoured them with the sauce minutes after leaving while walking home. I hope they'll be able to add outdoor seating in the alley/driveway/parking lot/sidewalk--if not it's a 2 minute walk to the park! No doubt we will be Lost Socks regulars--looking forward to purchasing some of their swag on our next visit. read more

I enjoy an early am walk to Lost Sock for a cup of Iced Americano and use their Lost Sock mug, which keeps my coffee appropriately cold or hot for hours. Try the yogurtsparfaits and the crog w/ crm cheese, salmon, capers and pickled red onions. Soooo good. Wait staff is friendly, helpful, and they know my order without me having to say it! Makes you feel like it's the coffee version of Cheers! read more

Such a cute neighborhood spot. Based on the location I was expecting quiet, but this place was busy! Lots of neighborhood residents walking in for breakfast and local. The baking team is skilled - their bread is delicious but didn't get to try the crogel since they sold out early. The savory items are where they shine - sweet baked goods weren't my thing, thought the coffee cake was dry. But the butternut squash ricotta toast was great - savory, tangy, umami, creamy, crunchy all at once. And the coffee of course was good read more

Two years later and this is still my favorite coffee shop! Trust me that the coffee is GOOD and they somehow have found the perfect milk to flavor to coffee ratio for all of their drinks. All the staff are so welcoming and remember my name and where I'm going to school even after I have been gone for months. Go check it out!! read more

Definitely in the top three coffee shops in DC. Pour-over was stellar, great espresso, chai was excellent. Also, those empanadas! Pulled pork was so delicious, I might say it's the best on the district. Took us about a half-hour to get there from Capitol Hill. If it were closer, I'd be in here all the time. Love it. read more

This was more like being in the UK than the US: Over the hours that I was working there, they didn't once pick up any full nor empty plates or cups from my table--unusual, and the way I like it i.e. being left alone. This café in the heart of (lovely, neighbourly, and old-timey-feeling) Takoma, on the DC side, was small, so I was happy to snag a seat close to an outlet. The seat is a simple straight, flat wooden bench and the back is the same, just vertical, so, not the most comfortable, but with my pullover on the bench, it was fine. The almond croissant was a solid B-, the Cappucino delicious. read more

An egg sandwich took 20 minutes to come out. By the time the food was ready my coffee was cold and almost finished. Asked if they did refills and said no. It's silly to make you wait so long for your food and a coffee shop. Sandwich was mediocre and overpriced. Would not recommend. read more

Saw it on TikTok and wanted to try. Fairly easy to find. Not much seating, but I love the plants in there. Staff was fairly friendly. My croissant/bagel was good, wish it was warmed up. Also had a tea. There's no wifi, unfortunately. If I go back, I'd want to try an empanada. read more

Best coffee, great cafe breakfast food, and outstanding staff and owners. Has become a nexus of the neighborhood deservedly so.

The first time I decided to order a non-dairy latte, it was at Lost Sock Roaster. Not sure what drove me to do it, but I did, and since then, I have not found another place to make it quite the same. I didn't take pictures, but it was by far the sexiest dulce de leche oatmilk latte I've ever had. It was perfectly creamy and just a touch of sweetness (how I prefer it). The layer of foam of top was a nice touch, and a feature I can't get elsewhere. These guys know what they're doing. Between this and their chocolate chip cookies that I have to fight for each visit, I'll keep coming back for more. read more

The pour over's alone here make it worth visiting this coffee shop but the food is superb as well especially the parfait, the guava empanadas and the brownies! read more

Food is way overpriced for what they offer. Go there for the coffee and not the snacks.

So first off, after I make my order and go to hand the cashier my cash, she just walks away and talks to another staff member. I literally have to wait for another employee to come around so I can ask to pay for my order. I ordered a parfait and I watched the guy make it. He opened a brand new jug of yogurt and didn't bother mixing it. He poured all the runny liquid that settles on top, straight into the cup. It looked so clumpy, yet runny. When they handed it to me it was as runny as melted ice cream. It was so unappetizing! I literally threw everything in the trash can! Coffee was super bland and tasted like warm dirt. Tiny cup and over priced. I won't be returning here ever again. Waste of my time and money. read more

Charming spot that sells The Coffee Drinks l and a variety of their own roasted beans as well. During the age of the rona, there is outdoor seating, but be prepared for limited indoor capacity. read more

Great little spot! One of the better local coffee shops in the DC area. Seemed like a pretty good amount of street parking which also was convenient. You never know in DC. read more

I have no reason to not give this five stars. have been here three times. coffee is really good. I recommend their pan de yuca. I feel bad because, as I'm writing this, I've never had pan de yuca except for what I've tried here. but I love it. their empanadas are also really tasty. read more

First time having Lost Sock yesterday and this is my new joint going forward. Coffee is delicious - plenty of options, I went with the Laayyoo and loved it. Got 3 empanadas that were also incredible...steak & cheese, pulled pork, and buffalo chicken. Staff was super nice and I got to chat with the owner Jeff as well, salt of the earth dude. They have a nice little outdoor section so I was able to enjoy my order outside with my dog. Definitely check out Lost Sock if you're in the area, you won't be disappointed. I'll be ordering some bags to have back home! Well done, Lost Sock! read more

We had to wait 20 minutes for the food to be ready. I ordered the Salmon Crogel without capers but when I got the sandwich, it had capers in it. Seemed overhyped and the food was average. read more

Good flat white, americano, and iced coffee. Empanadas are good and flakey. I got some breakfast sandwich in a croissant once. I don't remember what all was in it but I do remember the egg being the perfect consistency! The vibe is a bit heavy handed (subway tiles, fiddle leaf figs, steel pipe shelves) but it's really well done. The staff was friendly. I will continue to come here for mornings in takoma read more

Had great iced lattes here this morning and really enjoyed the egg sando on a crogel. The outside seating area is nice and everything is neat and clean. I need to come here more often! read more

I highly recommend Lost Sock. Their coffee is fantastic and cheaper than Starbucks. Their food is simple but better than most places and made by people who care. And even when they are super busy everyone there is very nice, looks you in the eye and makes you feel like your money is well spent. That is a rarity. They have a good hustle going on over there. I can't praise them enough. I have a Lost Sock column in my monthly budget. Forza Lost Sock. read more

Looking for a place with a ton of coffee choices and single origins, look no further! What attracted me was all the single origins available and they did not disappoint. I tried a couple different single origins and they were all fantastic. There are many food options as well. I had toast with cream cheese and blueberry jam spread that was delicious.
