I first found about the Waterhole pre-2020 but then shutdowns happened. I was in the area one day, recently, and randomly remembered the smoothies and beet juice. I'm happy to see that this business withstood the pandemic and I'm happy to be back!! The service is warm and welcoming and I love their beet-based beverages! read more

The Waterhole - Leaf lover, beet it, Irie thunder, carrot kicker - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Mount Rainier, Maryland

I had the 3 kings juice. It could've benefited from some mango or a more tart apple but overall it was good. I'd get another type of juice, however. The aesthetic was nice. No hooks for bags underneath the bar. Service was quick which I loved. The vibe was okay. Sort of chill but not in a zen way if that makes sense. I would go back. read more

We need more spaces like this! When you hear about a watering hole, most people tend to think of a place to get an alcoholic beverage on a regular basis. But, that's not quite the case here! This is literally a Watering Hole of holistic healing and wellness administered through 100% all natural juices, smoothies, and plant-based organic bites. Lisa, the owner is so nice and very committed to her health and wellness vision. I ordered the Irie Thunder Juice, a concoction of pineapple, coconut water, and ginger. The prices for a 12oz is $4.99, a 24oz runs $9. You also can add your shots such as wheatgrass, protein, and a few other additions. Anything with ginger, make sure to stress if you only want to taste a little. I don't mind a lot of ginger, but Lisa asks you upfront before she goes to prepare your drink. And by the way, my Irie Thunder was delicious! Other Juices I can't wait to try are Leaf Lover (Kale, parsley, cucumber, spinach, pear and lime) and Three Kings (apple, beet, carrot, and ginger). On select days and evenings they host spoken word and invite different bands over to perform. There are lots of stools and some sit down seating for just hanging out. You will find featured on the walls, art by local artists. The Waterhole is taking a form all it's own with additional plans to expand next door. I am in love with this place and it's positive vibe; it's actually a watering hole with all the essentials for long life. Just walking past this place is always a reminder to come in and do something good for my body! read more

I like everything about this place. The atmosphere is cool and calming. It's also very clean! I finally got to meet the owner Lisa, who is very friendly and down to earth. Her customer service is remarkable! Now, the drinks: I ordered the Three Kings fresh juice which has Beets, oranges, Carrots and a nice subtle kick of ginger for the win! (Lol) I really enjoyed my fresh juice. My friend isn't a fan of beets so I ended up drinking hers too! She ordered a fruit smoothie which she loved so much, she ordered another! Everything was fresh and made upon ordering. I love this place and I will be returning! read more

Sometimes you walk into a place and they just get you. My lifestyle...or what I'm striving for...simplicity and wholesome ingredients, not just a drink, but a tonic...not just good food, but nourishment and nutrients for my body. Waterhole offers vegan/gluten free natural foods and juices. The owner, Lisa Harris, carried the philosophy of food for medicinal purposes (right up my ally). Food that has low acidity and will lower inflammation in the body. I knew what I wanted when I arrived, what I didn't know is that Lisa carried some of my absolute favorites behind the counter as readied ingredients for juice drinks. Items like turmeric. Most of us know that turmeric is an ingredient found in curries, but what you may not know is that turmeric is an anti-inflammatory, increases antioxidant capacity and may improve reproductive and mental health...you see where I'm going with this? Maca (improves reproductive health, mood, skin and energy) and spiurlina (high in protein and antioxidants) also makes a delightful presence as drink boosters. I had the Beet It in a 12oz with extra ginger (you can opt for more or less of something to suit your taste). Everything tasted fresh and wholesome. The icing on the proverbial cake was the service. The mother of the owner mans the counter on Saturdays, with a couple of friends in tow. She was extremely accommodating...on top of personable. She told me the owner has plans to expand and host more events. This only made me more eager to return. Note: 1. You can create your own mix with the ingredients on hand. 2. Has a daily soup. 3. Add Maca to your drink, I heard all the boys come in for re-up pretty often. 4. 34th Street is filled with vegan/herbal/gluten free shops read more

Parking is on the street and if you go on Saturday there may not be a space on the block. The juices and smoothies are made fresh but not a ridiculous wait like Tropical Smoothie so no angry crowd . Juice was so good got two on Saturday and came back for two more Sunday. LOVE that they are open on Sunday so you can get your Juice first thing before you start your day. read more

The Waterhole - two menus on a wooden table - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Mount Rainier, Maryland

Small but open space that takes you back by surprise when you walk into the store. It seems much smaller from outside. Inside is welcoming with some wooden theme to their furniture and decor. It's a pretty straight up no frills operation. Juice. Smoothie (2). Coffee/ espresso/ latte. Tea (11?). Soup (1). Sliders or some other food item (1). Why go here? Just about $5 for some freshly pressed juice. 12 oz. Want more? A couple bucks more for 16 oz. The flavor a are fresh. Make your own blend if you do 't like their selections, whether for juice or smoothie. The coffee is organic Zeke's. The juices are organic. Everything is vegan. The coffee can be served or latte made with almond milk. Lots of space for a good, open feeling- stress reduction! They host events where people may sidle up to the bar for a shot of wheatgrass or turmeric or ginger. Free wifi. Good community spot. Prices are fair, but I wish they had more choices... Suggestion might be to pre-bottle beverages? Who knows, all I know is that the juice is good. Not cold from the fridge, but freshly pressed. read more

I've had this place on my list for literally years after seeing it across the street from Glut, but for whatever reason never decided to actually stop by. Today I did and I'm so happy! I've been craving the health food/smoothie shops of New York recently, so this shop is the only place I've seen in the DC area that has menu items similar at a very reasonable price and is black owned. The smoothies itself was really fresh - to be expected as they made everything to order - and one of the associates suggested the Weekend Shot as an alternative to the wheatgrass as they had already run out by the time I arrived. I will be back! read more

I got the leaf lover 12 ounces. It was really good. I did not stay, came here as a quick drop in. I can tell, though, this would be a cool place to relax. at times, like when I visited, It's probably quiet enough to read a book or even do schoolwork. The music is slow nice reggae. Other times, if it gets busy, but still probably good enough for casual date or get together with friends. read more

I think this place has greater potential. Especially since it is the only spot for coffee on the block. I only knew this because I asked neighboring stores as it was not advertised in the front. The juices look delish and I adored the pictures for sale of Cuba in the wall. Having someone skilled in design for the interior and exterior will heighten this store's charm and appeal. Coffee was pretty good although not served hot enough. I'll go back and try the juices I've heard only good things about. read more

This owner-operated juice bar is a great place to enjoy a drink or grab-and-go. They serve fruit and vegetable juice creations, coffee, tea and the various snack item. It's the kind of place where the service is always laid back and friendly and the drinks are delicious and good for you. I'm a big fan of the "Three Kings" with the occasional shot of wheat grass. Ignore the previous yelper who complained about the hidden kitchen and awkward register. Evidently they've never sat at a bar with a cash register or been to any restaurant in which the kitchen wasn't in plain sight. (*sigh* who are these people?) They have a nice community focus, showcasing art by local artists and participating in neighborhood events. If you need an all natural pick me up, The Waterhole is your ticket! read more

It was just your average mediocre experience. I waited too long for service and it wasn't even busy. Be weary of a juicing place where you can't see your juice being made. From visiting multiple vegan spots all throughout the country...I have become accustomed to being able to watch as they prepare your food/beverage. Not this place. The juicer and the juicing process goes on behind a closed door. 1.You can NOT see if the machines were clean.....or the environment in which its being prepared from behind a closed door in the back. 2. You don't see gloves as they handle YOUR food from behind the closed door in the back. 3. Not a single "thank you" was given from either of the women working. Very very odd...NOT even a simple thank you after paying....is that good customer service? 4. They have a seating area right in front of the register. Why? A family of 3 just happened to be sitting right there...in front of the register... as everyone tried to pay for there items... I don't want someone's child reaching for my money as I attempt to pay...and Yes this did happen. It's too close for comfort. The "great service" the few have reviewed about was non existent as we waited and waited and didn't even get a "thank you" in return.... This was our first and last visit..Good customer service is very important to us. As we waited and waited.... I almost turned around and headed out the door. I wanted to run out as she was preparing the drink..behind a closed door in the back.....but we had already paid for the drink and I just hoped the experience would improve.. It never improved. The juice wasn't anything special, so I should have left when I had the chance... read more

This is a unpretentious super friendly juice bar. They welcome you as soon as you walk into the door. Warm and inviting. We ordered our juice and the lady explained that there could be a slight wait as the juicer is cleaned after each juice. As we waited, I can hear her explaining thte benefits of the different juices. She also offered us a sample of the Kale salad which was absolutely delicious. Tender Kale with pieces of crunchy cabbage. We got the Carrot Kicker which was sweet. They have you add the cayenne but dont get too crazy with it. I cant wait to go back! read more

I make it a point to support Black owned businesses and happily stumbled across this gem of a juice bar after taking African dance classes in the area. The owner, is a 27 yo entrepreneur. Her mom, Kathy, greeted me warmly and chatted with me as I made my selections. I had an Island thunder: coconut water, pineapple and fresh ginger to rehydrate. It hit the spot. The ginger was strong just like I prefer but you can adjust accordingly to taste. Kathy gave me a sample of their vegan Ital soup and it tasted like everything good in life. It was a hearty yellow pea, coconut milk, cilantro-tinged hearty soup laced with okra, corn and dumplings to satisfy the island Gyal in me. I got the Three Kings juice to go which is my all-time favorite, beets, carrot, ginger, Apple. Lisa's spot was clean, nicely decorated, had a friendly vibe with wifi to boot. Please check them out and support!!! read more

This is my very first post, and I'm excited that it's for this amazingly quaint and chill little juice bar. It's not at all near me, as I live about 30 minutes north, but very well worth the drive. We tried the Irie Thunder, the Beet It, and a couple of "Weekend Shots", which consisted of turmeric, ginger, and citrus. Perfect! The service was great as well, so we will definitely be returning. This is becoming my go-to spot for juice and fresh coffee. I'm all about that Irie Thunder. I'm not vegan or vegetarian, but they have plenty of options for that. Also, they have really become a community meeting spot. I've been several times and it is not unusual to see groups of people having deep discussions about a variety of topics.
