This place is super cute! It's small, but cozy, also has some outdoor seating. Inside it looks like your average coffee shop, they have TVs, the TVs have closed captioning. The service was fast and friendly! They were helpful and accommodating! The bagel I got and the coffee were both delicious! We end up going back the next morning! read more

I LOVE the classical music they have playing here. It's absolutely adorable and sets such a nice mood. The ambiance is really super cozy and I adore the older style of the decor. The younger lady at the counter is very kind and has a beautiful smile!! There is very limited seating here be warned. I had a latte and a cheese danish. Both were delicious but the price was outrageous. I will come back but definitely gonna try to keep my order smaller. read more

Nice alternative to the chain coffee shops. Coffee is great! I have had the bagel breakfast sandwiches a couple of times they do the trick if you have a craving. The inside of Jacob's is somewhat small inside, and dependent on the time of day, may be difficult to get a tHowever, there is a good size patio and I have always been able to get a seat outside. read more

The outdoor patio has the coolest vibe that just can't be matched by most other cafes in the area. The only downside to the patio is that there are no outlets to plugin. So it would be wishful thinking to plan to stay and work here for several hours, especially with my old laptop with a severely dysfunctional battery. I ordered a capuchino with vanilla flavoring . It's my ultimate favorite and I wanted to see the difference in flavor with this cafe. It was awesome and expensive! This is for sure one of my favorite coffee place in the DC. Located in one of the most beautiful neighborhoods of the city, this place offers you a cosy and worm place for a cold winter or late fall morning. Old-fashioned interior, great Illy coffee and the variety of pastries, bagels and other types of breakfast or brunch available. Personnel is busy, but very attentive. They also offer their loyalty program and takeout. And if it is too worm and smoky for you inside, enjoy the patio! read more

The lady that took my order was extremely rude. I ordered an iced matcha latte and she gave me hot. I kindly said "I apologize, I ordered an iced latte". She responds saying outwardly that I ordered hot. I said "I ordered ice". She still repeats saying that I ordered hot. When she finally went back to correct my order, she rolls her eyes. When she was in the kitchen, she would walk past me without saying excuse me. I finally asked for a refund which took 15 minutes "so she can find the order" . She told me she could not find it (even though I had ordered 10 minutes ago). I had to go on her computer and obviously show her my previous order. I will never come here again. She is super rude will never bring my business here again. read more

a very nice locally owned coffee shop. Not the fastest service, but that's all part of the charm. I can't speak to the coffee, but their breakfast sandwiches are made right in front of you and they're amazing. It was walking distance from our Airbnb and we went every morning we were there. I was visiting my brother recently and he lives in the area, a short walk away. This place became my favorite local spot, I wanted to go everyday I was there. The ambiance, the service, the food, the muffins, the coffee, everything was perfect. I ordered the egg white sandwich three days in a row, so did my mom and brother. On the last day we also ordered the blueberry muffin and apple walnut coffee cake, both were moist and delicious. I'm back home in Atlanta and literally craving Jacob's. I can't wait to come back and visit, thank you for such a memorable experience. read more

My friend has been raving about Jacobs since we both moved to the neighborhood 2 years ago. In honor of his birthday, I finally tried it this morning. While admittedly slightly skeptical, it did not disappoint. The ambiance was welcoming, cozy, and perfectly encapsulated the Capitol Hill neighborhood. There was a group of younger law students having a pow wow before class, two young professionals who were strangers yet sharing a table, and then a middle aged gentleman who looked to be feverishly working on his thesis. The bagel man greeted me with a warm smile and within minutes I was handed my cappuccino and headed off to work with extra pep in my step. Despite living in the area for a while, I hadn't been to this coffee shop, but finally got the chance last weekend. It was pouring, so we didn't get to enjoy the outdoor seating but I was impressed how much seating they manage to squeeze into the small interior space. The space does feel a bit cramped (especially on a rainy Saturday) but this is clearly a local gem - the staff knew a lot of regular customers by name and the atmosphere was very cute. My friend and I got chai tea lattes, which were very good! Not too sweet, creamy but also nicely spiced. Would definitely get another one. I got a bacon, egg and cheese bagel, which was a little underwhelming for the price, but nothing wrong with it. Their cream cheese options looked good, so I think if I were to go for breakfast again, I'd just get a bagel with cream cheese. It's a little on the higher side of pricing, but it's a very great little shop, so I'm happy to support it. I'll be back! read more

I waited 25mins for my food, and when I approached them to ask why it was taking so long the person at the register lied. I asked why there were individuals receiving their food before me, and he said it was because they ordered online. When there was a whole family who came in ten minutes after me, ordered to dine-in, and had already received their food. I watched several people come in, order their food, then stand to wait while the cook made it. You can watch the cook make the food, it's completely open. The person at the register also claimed that my omelette was taking extra long to make because I requested egg whites. Dude, it's not a special request you have egg whites on your menu for another item. Make the food in the order it was placed, that's not difficult. I used to work in restaurants, I have no issues with mistakes happening. But when you gaslight the customer and act like you did nothing wrong, that's not cool. read more

My husband and I frequented Jacob's when we lived two blocks away, but now that we live over a mile away we still stop by at least once a week on average. The chai tea is worth getting, and they have non-dairy milk options for those of us who care about such things! Breakfast: egg bagel sandwiches are simple but SO good and my whole family craves them (thus stopping by at least once a week)! We rotate between the wheat, plain, and everything bagels. They're all great. The little patio, as Brittany F. mentioned, can get slightly loud with bus traffic from 8th Street, but it's a pleasant place to sit outside with your beverage and your pup. Great coffee and sandwiches. Order the mozzarella panini, it's yummy. Solid cafe. I ordered takeout, but was 10-15 mins late to get it. I got there and they said someone took it already. They were nice enough to make me another latte. I was so grateful. Wherever I go there it's clean and the staff is friendly. I don't have anything to complain about except for maybe don't leave the takeout orders out in the open. read more

BEST COFFEE SHOP IN CAPITOL HILL! I've been coming here for years, the owner and staff and incredibly sweet and efficient. The food is amazing, the coffee and tea are great, and the outdoor seating is comfortable and shady. Highly recommend you stop by, try the veggie panini or any other sandwich. They are easily amendable to changing orders to your preference if you can't find something you want. You can also order ahead. They have a great rewards program, and I'm always getting stars that equate to a free bagel a few times a month. This is a mom-and-pop corner coffee store that is cheaper than anything around. read more

I found the cinnamon a bit to punchy on its own (like Red Hots, which I don't like), but it mellowed out when eaten with the other flavors. The Black and White Cookie did taste like one, but that also meant it was not as strong as flavor as the other two.

I am SO in. We stopped in bc my husband's last name is Kramer and it's spelled the exact same and I saw the brunch/breakfast options and wanted to eat here. We loved it. Tried the avocado toast, brioche French toast and a smash burger and everything was delicious. Service was good, food was out quickly, portions were huge, all A+++. Enjoyed shopping after and will 100% come back. They are very active on Instagram and usually have seasonal specials and neat events.
