For a local coffee shop I actually really like Jacob's! They have great coffee and tea options, good breakfast and lunch items. And the muffins are good! Compared to the other neighborhood coffee shops around the area, Jacob's has the best all around experience with food, drinks, price, AND customer service. I wanted to get a hot tea to pair with muffin and I was recommended the citron which was really good. The lady who handed it to m also suggested to drink it with the lid off to smell the aroma. Great tip! I loved it! I love the over all experience here mostly because I live nearby and this feels very welcoming and just right for me and my husband. read more

Jacobs is THE BEST neighborhood coffee shop in North Cap. Perfect for breakfast and lunch: their breakfast sandwiches hit the spot and the ginger honey hot tea is my personal favorite! The owner Jasmine has taken such good care of us over the past three years that she feels like family now! We were visiting from out of town and decided to stop here on our last day for breakfast since it was close to the airbnb we were at. It's one of those cute neighborhood places I could see being a regular at if you lived right around there within walking distance. However, I wouldn't go out of my way just to visit here. We each got breakfast sandwiches and coffee. The coffee was okay, but knocking down to 3 stars for their breakfast. We got a basic sausage egg and cheese on a bagel and the cheese wasn't warm/melted, and the bagel didn't have any flavor. The wait was really long (like 15 min+ for simple orders). All the tables inside and out were full and it was pretty packed inside while waiting. This would be completely fine for me if the latte was anything above average or the bagel, but just didn't do it for us. They do have free wifi, the employees were friendly, and it's a cozy atmosphere. read more

I've had a few of the panini and my favorite is the chicken pesto. I recommend the ciabatta bread for any sandwich you get to go because it holds up well and doesn't get soggy . They have an excellent vanilla latte! I've had it about a dozen times and they are consistent. Always yummy! read more

We have been at Jacob a few times before with excellent service, drinks, and food. We got there Friday around 2:45 after a long day of biking. We ordered our food and sat down waiting for our food. Our food for ready just before 3:00. We were quickly asked by the staff to leave since they were closing at 3:00. We thought it was rather rude to 1) not letting us know we won't be able to sit down when we ordered our food and being harassed to leave when our food got ready. read more

Hmmmm. I feel bad with my two stars here because obviously A LOT of people really LOVE this place! Which makes me really happy, however, I am not one of those people. I have not been coming here forever, in fact, this was my first time. We swung by on our walk to Eastern Market last Saturday because my fiance was craving an iced coffee. Jacob's is a cute shop with a nice atmosphere (inside and out) and we felt lucky to stumble upon it. I ordered an iced mocha with coconut and my fiance ordered an iced caramel latte. The damage for two iced coffee drinks was over $12!!! What!! Just to be clear, nothing else was ordered, just the drinks! My jaw dropped to the floor. These were your normal sized iced coffees...no thermos of iced coffee as you would expect with such a price tag. The iced mocha with coconut was good and the iced caramel latte was terrible. My fiance described it as tasting like a burnt cigarette was put out in his coffee. He ended up pitching it and grabbing a drink from Dunkin when we got to Eastern Market. Hard watched six bucks go into the trash! Sounds like this place offers great service people really seem to like the coffee. Just was not a hit for me! read more

3.5 stars After a difficult day at work, I knew I needed to unwind at a coffee shop. Jacob's was the closest to the school where I was working that day, and was VERY excited to see that they have bubble tea. My first thought was "Screw coffee, I'm getting BUBBLE TEA!!" By the way, the "bubble tea" is not tea, but smoothies. I liked the combination of two of my favorite drinks but I know that's not everyone's cup of tea (no pun intended). I have had bubble tea at two places in DC and VA, but have yet to find a place that I love. At $6, the drink was a bit pricey for my comfort, given that I'm used to spending about $3-4 bucks for bubble tea in the Bay. The strawberry bubble tea smoothie was just what I needed on a hot and hard day, but I'm not sure if it was worth $6. Outdoor seating is a plus, and I was the only person outside at 3:30 pm. Since I don't live in the area, this place is too far to make it a "regular" spot. I'd go back next time I'm in the area and in the mood for bubble tea, but I'm not going to go out of my way to come here when there are plenty of coffee shops (aka 2 Starbucks) and restaurants within walking distance of my apartment. read more

Jacob's Coffee House is my favorite place to get bubble tea in DC! Situated on a quaint corner on Capitol Hill, Jacob's blends any combination of fruit you'd like in your bubble tea. It's the perfect refreshing beverage to grab if you're walking around the Hill. They also make fantastic paninis and pastries. Lots of seating indoors and a nice patio when it's warm outside. These folks make the best damn bagel breakfast sandwich in the universe. I frequently visit the city to visit family, and I would rather have breakfast here every day than anywhere else. On one occasion we had a large order, and one of the meals was missing. I went back to the establishment explained what happened and they immediately fixed the order, and did some very nice customer service by offering a couple free muffins, which were magnificent. I love this place, and I love their bagel breakfast sandwich especially the lox onions cream cheese capers and egg on an everything bagel. Truly inspired. read more

I live in the area, but never had the chance to visit Jacob's Coffeehouse. I read the reviews on Yelp, but felt that supporting neighborhood businesses is vital. The cafe is cozy and I wanted to work for an hour (lunch) and eat. I stopped on my bike and after reviewing the menu (weighed my allergies), I ordered a mozzarella panini, Iced Coffee and a bag of chips, which totaled $13.70. I felt that the price was a bit steep, but it's a local business. I enjoyed my iced coffee, but not the panini. The tomatoes were cold on the pressed sandwich. It would have been great if it were hotter. I would go again, because the cafe is so doggone cozy!! The staff was very pleasant, bit will order something else next time. read more

My husband and I went here for coffee during our stay in DC buy recommendation from our host. It was clearly very popular with locals. The coffee was good, not amazing, and on the more expensive side. Due to Covid you must ORDER AHEAD, but they have made the process easy and will text you when your food is ready for pick up. I also got the egg white sandwich which was very delicious! read more

This is a cute little coffee shop with good drinks and amazing staff. The staff is super sweet and they remember my name and my usual order. I was lured into Jacobs because I saw that they serve bubble tea and it was close to 100 degrees outside. No regrets, they have amazing boba that they serve blended with ice, similar to a Starbucks frap. After I tried it, I became a regular at this place and I usually alternate between the Thai tea boba and the taro boba. Their coffee is really good here too. They serve illy coffee and the lattes and iced coffees are amazing. I also love the muffins they make which are huge and taste amazing! If you're still reading at this point, definitely skip the Starbucks and come to Jacobs instead!! read more

Just got a refreshing pineapple smoothie on this beautiful spring day! The flavor was 5/5, the only difficulty I had was that there were some rather large ice chunks that made using a straw a bit frustrating. I'll definitely be back to try other items off the menu! read more

I still love coming here. My colleagues and I make the trek in foot from the Library of Congress as often as we can when the weather is good. The staff are super friendly, the food is delicious, and so is the bubble tea! The bread, meat, and cheese are fresh, the vegetables are crisp, and everything is made to order. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area or even if you're not. read more

**3.5 stars** My friend was leaving for his flight and we were in a rush. He picked up the Zipcar (so I can drop him at the airport) while I ran into Jacob's for something that would suffice as breakfast. I remember being pleasantly surprised when I found out on Yelp that there is bubble tea in DC, much less in my neighborhood, so I didn't blink twice about ordering the strawberry flavor. I also ordered a ham and cheese breakfast sandwich. I didn't see a kitchen and was beginning to doubt my sandwich order. The order took awhile and I had to dash madly out the door. In the car my friend and I agreed that the tapioca texture was surprisingly good, but the tea itself, made from a powder mixture, was artificial tasting and way too sweet. The nicest part was the breakfast sandwich, which is Quality. Not to mention Value. We wished we had gotten two. Or at least I did. I suppose I might have been projecting since I was hogging the sandwich and probably felt guilty about not sharing fairly. I definitely plan to return with book or laptop in hand so I can curl away in the window seat for a rainy afternoon. read more

I had some time to blow before picking up a friend from work and thought I'd get a bite to eat and read my book while I waited. The person behind the counter was unfriendly and impatient while I perused the menu, and that should have been my cue to leave and give someone else my business, but I'd already parked, was thirsty and didn't really have the time so I gave them the benefit of the doubt that it was just a hiccup. It wasn't. I ordered a steak, egg and cheese sandwich and a green tea latte. I'll be honest-the latte was amazing!!! Seriously, so good. The sandwich was terrible-as I was eating it, I actually became angry that I'd had to pay for something so unpalatable. The meat used (I definitely wouldn't refer to it as steak) had some kind of soy sauce or teriyaki flavor which is great, but pretty much the last way you would season meat for an egg sandwich. The cheese was flavorless, so I'm guessing American. For $8 for a breakfast sandwich, it was the worst money I've spent all year. The price didn't come into play though, because it just tasted really bad. If they had been friendlier initially, I might have tried to inquire but I didn't want to incur any wrath. There were several customers after me that received much friendlier service so I'm not sure what the deal was! I probably won't be back but if you do, try the latte-and one of the really scrumptious looking yogurt muffins in a variety of flavors! read more

I love this little coffee house! It's a casual, no fuss, neighborhood cafe. Whether you want a toasty breakfast sandwich or just a coffee and biscotti, this place hits the spot. When the weather is nice, my pup and I like to walk over and grab a cup of coffee and sit on the patio. The only down side is that the patio, while hidden by a hedge of bushes, is adjacent to busy 8th street and can get a bit noisy at times. The musician in me also loves that they play classical music! A neighborhood favorite, for sure. read more

I'm sad to admit it but Jacob's Coffee House has been a go to spot of mine since I moved to DC a few months ago. Unlike NYC (sorry for the constant comparison, I can't help it ), it is actually difficult to find a quick on the go breakfast spot in this city. There is no bodega or food cart readily available for a good egg and cheese on a roll. However, Jacobs's Coffee House is the closest thing to it. The food itself is okay. The coffee and lattes are amazing. The shop itself is small and cozy. No seating at this time due to COVID. Aside from the breakfast and easy lunch fix, the shop also has chips and some stationery supplies like pins and birthday/special occasion cards. Also treats and water for your four legged friends by the door. The owner Jasmine is a nice Asian woman who always greets customers and, if you're one of the more frequent stoppers who uses square to pay, she sends kind holiday messages over email to her customers. Very cute and wholesome overall. My only issue is the price (which is why I am sad ). A regular bagel (not one of those really YUMMY bagels, but just a regular supermarket type bagel) with plain cream cheese costs $3.99. A bagel with egg and cheese costs $4.25. Not to mention the drink prices. Small americano is $3.25. A small latte is $3.99. I always get the chai latte 16 oz which costs $5.29. Maybe I'm just a cheap gal but gosh, paying like $10-11 dollars just for super simple breakfast food is outrageous. Don't get me wrong, I love their chai lattes. I keep coming back for the lattes but also for the convenience of there being a breakfast spot when the mornings are so busy! But I'd be lying if I said that I wasn't embarrassed or guilty for spending that much for it. read more

When I'm visiting my family in DC there is only one place I'm certain to get a really great cup of coffee every time and that is at Jacob's Coffee House. Jacob's is truly a neighborhood coffee house serving one of the best coffees available... illy. In addition to the fresh hot coffee (lattes, cappuccinos, teas), I love their iced coffee, smoothies, and frappuccinos. And should you require food, the wide variety of bagel and panini sandwiches are delicious. There are also wraps and soup in addition to sweet snacks. I'm never disappointed by the wonderful coffee and fabulous service at Jacob's. I know once you've visited you too will be a regular customer like me. read more

Very fond of my little local coffee shop! They work hard and they know your name. Also a great place to go if you need lunch or a snack, but beware, during normal (non quarantine) times, you may find yourself waiting on a line that goes out the door just for a cup of coffee on a Saturday morning - not ideal! But outside of Saturday and Sunday mornings, it's relatively efficient. read more

There's a surprising amount of mixed reviews for this spot. I live rather close on Capitol Hill and come maybe once every two weeks. It's a cozy spot with friendly owners. The only majorly negative experiences I have had was being promised they would open the patio seating, but taking around 15 minutes to do so because they were busy. It is also small, so if there is anything loud going on (like a group of small children) the entire place is going to be loud. I would most likely give this 5 stars if it weren't for the horrendous wifi. It's essentially unusable and I consider that to be a critical function of a coffee shop. Overall a great for a relaxing chat, but not so much for getting any work done. read more

There is no better coffee on Capitol Hill. Jacob's Coffee House serving illy Coffee will impress you with the great coffee, pleasant atmosphere, and courteous service. There is comfortable seating both inside and out, a great selection of coffee, tea and food, and free Wi-Fi. As I write this I'm having the best iced coffee. I should also mention they are very eco-friendly. Truly i wouldn't even think of coffee anywhere else on Capitol Hill. read more

This is probably one of the best cafes on Capitol Hill as the drinks and food are very good and the service is fantastic. Prices are on the high side but not unfair, considering the location. The cafe is also normally clean and the food also looks and normally tastes fresh. The young woman who owns and operates the coffee house is an all around good person, helping my mother and I (as we live out of state) make sure my grandmother is not in trouble, as this cafe is usually her every-morning stop. We really appreciate this cafe and its services, and especially the support the staff supplies my family with. read more

Do you want to go to a place where everyone knows your name? Go to Jacobs! Since the new ownership/Jasmine took over a few years ago this place has made an incredible comeback. The coffee is fresh! The bagels are done as you like them, whether you want yours really toasty or just lightly toasted. There is plenty of indoor and out door seating and the outdoor seating is perfect for having an early morning cup of coffee with your dog and catching up on email or news from the night before. If you live on Capitol Hill and want to get out to have that first cup of coffee and a bagel, pastry or french toast (which is really good!) Jacob's is the spot. Oh! Try the everything bagel with locks and cream cheese. It will not disappoint. read more

JACOBS IS THE BEST! IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A GOOD BAGEL IN D.C. THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO!!! My best friend Kenzi and I love this place and make the treck from our house, which is next to Joe Biden's (old) house, to Jacobs because it is just that good. The management is so friendly and nice! This is one of the last coffee houses in DC that actually makes you feel the local vibes that the cast of friends feels when they chill at CentralPerk. THE FOOD IS DELICIOUS. We get sesame bagels and asiago bagels toasted with cream cheese, the pesto mozzarella panini, and kenzi dabbled with the special bagel with cream cheese and lox. She is jewish and she says the lox meet her expectations. Anyway, if you just need a great environment to brighten your day, this is the spot. read more

This place is great, I come almost everyday. Great PSL and bagel sandwiches! Also I left my kids baby bottle cooler here by mistake (more than once) and they were so nice and friendly about keeping it behind the counter and returning it to me the next day. We've been 2x on our trip. The lady who helped us was both polite in explaining items to us and knowledgeable about the different items on the menu. We had dirty chai lattes once and then breakfast with coffees the next time. We loved the quaintness of it. The location is close to the bus stop making it perfect for grabbing and going. read more

The housemaid vanilla are up in the vanilla latte had great flavor and was not overly sweet. They didn't have a variety of milk options or your coffee drinks. A small table outside in minimal seating inside makes this bakery best for takeout. Staff was friendly and efficient. When we came, but I could see how there may be a line of times based on how good the pastries were and how small the storefront space. As bonus points, the merch is super cute with the little wiener dog on it!
