Memphis comeback coffee soda in DC
    Shane S.

Great coffee shop! Staff is always friendly and knowledgeable. A variety of coffee selections to appease the novice or the aficionados. Conveniently located in a food hall style spot where you can get breakfast, lunch, dinner as well. They even carry comeback coffee soda out of Memphis.

Situated inside the dining hall of The Roost! Got an iced americano, with oat milk and lavender syrup. It's only one size. Lavender syrup was really slight, not worth the $1 imo. Same with the oat milk. Drinks come out fast.

One of the few coffee shops in the area. It's located inside of the Roost. The London fogs and lattes are good.

This is my new go-to for when I need to get work done. The Roost has tons of great seating options and Cameo's coffee is great. I love the order from your table option, especially if I'm sitting a long ways from the coffee counter.

I stopped by this coffee shop off the random to work out some 2023 goals. Cameo is located in the food hall called The Roost in SE DC, off Pennsylvania Ave. - I ordered the Mocha and the Avocado, Egg & Cheese sandwich. Both were phenomenal! - The Mocha, though kinda pricey (one of the pricier drinks on the menu), is in my top 5 best Mocha I've had in the DC area. I ended up ordering a second mug of Mocha. - The Avocado, Egg & Cheese sandwich, though also a little pricey for what you get, was quite yummy. Perfectly buttered/season. The eggs do come scrambled on the sandwich, so I requested mine over medium. I think too much aioli was added, but it didn't take away too much from the overall taste. I do recommend this coffee shop. Ideally, it's best to come early to grab a booth seat (maybe before noon). There's seating on the couches and chairs facing the windows with small round tables. In addition to coffee/hot drinks and breakfast sandwiches, they also have some pastries and some cold drinks. The breakfast ends at 3pm. The staff is also very friendly & easygoing. There is ample street parking near The Roost.

If you're looking for a place to get some work done and also score some good food, this is the place for you. After a night out and desperate to be productive, the juice trio healed me. I also got the shakshuka which was amazing! They have tons of food places to choose from, so you can definitely find something for you. They also have tons of seating so you can find your privacy if you need to get things done.

new coffee shop off the bucket list! - never been to the roost before and was very impressed by how lovely this food hall was, very clean and organized despite the many different options - abundant seating all throughout the hall with QR codes to order food to you! definitely a great place for remote work during day and meeting friends out later - cameo has a cool vibe, the workers were very friendly and the man who took my order had the best outfit HA - the pastries looked stunning and they have house made strips - my americano was okay, it had very little ice in it that melted before I left the place....flavor was good but considering an americano is already 80% water I was bummed when my 3 ice cubes were gone-zo

Cameo is the coffee shop inside The Roost, a "culinary club" in Hill East across the street from the Potomac Avenue Metro. If you go through the doors of the Blackbird, the apartments within the building, Cameo is to the right next to Shop Made In DC. The coffee shop is a wrap around bar with bar seating, a long wooden table and a few soft chairs in the corner. It's simple, industrial design is beautiful. They brew coffee locally roasted like Vigilante Coffee. They have your basic coffee offerings including decaf coffee. Their pastries (muffins, croissants, etc) come from Pluma and Buzz Bakery. My latte was well crafted and my chocolate croissant tasty.

    Chive scone.

Really yummy breakfast snacks. Scones are flaky and flavor packed. Fast service. Same menu every week.

The coffee was good, but later we noticed how dirty and moldy their water jugs were. Makes you wonder what else is dirty that we can't see.

Cutest little coffee spot ever! The pastries were so good and they have a ton of coffee and tea options for you to choose from! They also have many dairy-free options so you don't have to leave your vegan friends at home! I will definitely return when I return to DC! The vibes are also right. Definitely a cute place to meet up with friends.

It might have helped that it was anchored by their beer bar Shelter which featured a ton of special drafts for Snallygaster weekend. But I also loved the simple and innovative fact that you could order from any of the other restaurants set up in the food court and have the food brought over to your seat at eh bar area! With pizza, tacos, sushi, and then some it on the menu it was almost hard to choose. But after a good train ride, I was feeling the need for a hearty breakfast, so the Bodega Breakfast menu from Red Apron was calling my name, and it hooked up a good-sized portion of scrambled eggs, sausage, breakfast potatoes, and toast. While I'll say more about Shelter in a separate review, the variety of awesome brews that you could order in large or small pours definitely paired well with the balanced breakfast. In addition to good beverages from Shelter, Show of Hands cocktails, and Cameo Coffee, and all the restaurant options; you can also do grocery shopping at Caruso's, Shop Made in DC gifts, and get work done or attend social events through Goldfinch Social.

The owner should look up the law because she's way out of compliance: https://code.dccouncil.gov/us/dc/council/laws/23-187), but charge a 3% fee if you pay by credit card, which you are required to. They basically give you no option to avoid paying a fee. (In response to the owner's response below: They have a sign that says NO CASH, so is a customer supposed to believe they'll accept cash IF the customer has exact change, as the owner says they will? And if they do accept that cash, then they would, in fact, have cash on hand anyway, which undercuts her claim they have no cash on hand...but they don't because they have a sign that says NO CASH. Every other business in the community doesn't blame the city for their own non-compliant policies, as the owner does, and accepts cash in the same circumstances. Plenty of places are happy to take cash and prefer it, and it is required by DC law. I was surprised to see this NO CASH sign after emailing with the owner about it *a year and a half ago.* I walked right out when I saw the sign.) They also now have a self-serve bar which invites the spread of things like norovirus. There are no sneeze guards. They make it hard for me to support them even though I really have been trying to for years.
