After passing this place for years, my friend informed me that it's a cafe and not a doggie spa as I mistakenly assumed. Well, I'm sure glad that she did because I've found my newest coffee spot! First, thank you Sakiynah for being a gem and for providing quality service and some contextual details about the cafe. Named after the owner's beloved dog, Lulu, this place brings together beauty, coziness, culture, and DC! And if that isn't enough, the lavender decor is a homage to the owner's mom as lavender is her favorite color. Nonetheless, I truly appreciated all of the things that went into this gem! Coffee: the Palestino with almond milk. This was some GOOOOOOD coffee. Freshly brewed and close to an Americano for anyone wondering. Pastries: I ordered the Fattayer QuickPicks (3) beef, chicken, and spinach. ALL of these were DIVINE! Hard to say which was my favorite because each carried a unique flavor that left me desiring more. Chicken: savory and perfectly seasoned Beef: savory and well balanced with spices and herbs Spinach: savory and perfectly sautéed Sweet treats: Shoutout to SweetsbySamDC for the most delightful treats sold here. Came here for a pop-up they hosted with Bayti by Jinan Deena, and it was absolutely amazing! I'm so glad I was able to find out about this place and I hope to be a regular! Its in a great location that you might easily pass by since its in the heart of the Foggy Bottom area, but this is a great access point for students (with an affordable but still robust menu). I feel so great coming here knowing the causes they support. Overall, this is just a great cafe to be in. Its extremely cozy, clean, there is a mixture of indoor and outdoor seating with all the accommodations you need if you want to make this a study spot. Along with their to-order drinks, they have a diverse case of refrigerated international drinks and even non-cafe items so you can peruse it like a store as well. Funny fact--I always passed by this place because I thought it was a dog café. My colleague came into the office and raved about their amazing coffee and how they support Palestine and locals in the area, which was a huge plus! I looked at her puzzled like, "Huh? I initially came here thinking it's a dog cafe, but was surprised to see the true vibes of the cafe when I went indoors. It's very cute to see the decorations and the tables arranged. I went ahead and ordered a mango matcha smoothie since it's an item I haven't seen offered at other dc cafes. I totally would recommend it as I could see the ingredients blended and it was enough for me to be satisfied at the end of my visit. Check out this Palestinian cafe that's cutely dog themed. Excellent place to work, study, or hang out. They have reliable wifi and even a nice outdoor patio seating. They even sell other snacks and drinks from other brands and Palestinian gifts/merch. The barista there was so kind and attentive. I really enjoyed my Iced Signature Latte! It had a good balance of coffee and sweetness. I believe it is white chocolate and cinnamon. I finished my drink so fast. I also tried the House Fresh Squeezed lemonade and added mint. It was not a bad lemonade, but nothing too special. I also couldn't really taste the mint. Maybe it needs to be muddled or infused better. read more

Went to Lulu's Juice Cafe for an afternoon meeting, and it's such a lovely spot. There's not a ton of seating inside, but there's a cute back patio (only downside is someone was smoking when I was there...). I had a latte that was absolutely amazing - great balance of sweet and bitter. I also loved that they had protest art and Palestinian products for sale. Came here for lunch on a Tuesday afternoon. The inside of the place is super cute, a lot of artwork and apparently they have an outdoor patio too. I ordered the chicken musakhan and spinach fattayer, and a mango and banana smoothie. It came out to $12 which is a pretty good price. Very cute, very affordable, super nice barista. Did not try the pastries but they looked fresh and yummy! They also offered avocado toast. Lavender white chocolate latte is worth a try but a bit too sweet for me (although I never get sweet drinks, so I'm not sure how it would compare to other coffee shops). I recently came to know of this place and visited the cafe a few weeks ago. Not only is this place a cafe to energize yourself but it's a place to stay and chat and be welcomed. The staff and owner will extend their hospitality to you as if you are a relative returning from a long trip. I was walking around the area and was instantly attracted to the cute dog logo. I mean, who doesn't go crazy for an adorable puppy? Well, when I walk in, I saw framed photos of the puppy, Lulu, if you couldn't tell by the name. What a great aesthetic. I decided to try their signature latte which was a mix of lavender and white chocolate. Tbh, I have never been fond of lavender in coffee as many places really overpower the taste with it. However, this latte was impressive. Not only was the quality of the coffee itself great, but the white chocolate and lavender balanced itself out. And it wasn't overly sweet or made my teeth hurt like a lot of other coffees with sweet ingredients can make you feel. 10/10. I also adore the mini pies they sell there. I had the za'atar one which was just a bit of pita with some olive oil and za'atar. Simple, but nostalgic to the ones my grandma used to make. If it wasn't for the cheese danish, I would have walked out... I am not sure how I offended the barista, but as soon as I walked into Lulu's I encountered the very not nice barista with a very obvious attitude. I must have offended her in some way or did something to piss her off... but maybe not because other reviews said she wasn't the nicest. Not only was she not nice, she wasn't helpful. The opposite in fact. When I asked what pastries the cafe had she pointed to the case and said, they're right there. Not being clairvoyant I asked her to clarify. Yes, but without any signs I needed her to say what kind they had. After she rattled off the pastries and I ordered one, I offended her again. Not only did they not have the pastry she said they had, but she didn't tell me this and just started saying blueberry-lemon. But Blueberry-lemon what? She just said blueberry-lemon and blueberry-lemon. So we were like ok, I guess I'll take one. Her reply, which one? I was floored bc how was I supposed to know... how they are different? I still don't know what we got. (As a side note it was not great.) I walked in there because of pastries and dog treats, thinking they would be special. Are they? I still don't know, because when I asked she said, "over there." So I definitely didn't buy any as I couldn't tell where "over there" exactly was. With cheese danish in hand I walked out and had my "everyone is awesome," sweet-as-you-can-be neice said, "why was she so mean?" The cheese danish was good and as long as you don't ask questions and they have a cheese danish in stock, you probably won't encounter an attitude, maybe. But I'd skip this one otherwise. read more

Tiny jewel of a place with an enchanting back patio, endlessly kind staff, and excellent coffee made with one of the most beautiful machines I've ever seen. The pastry was tasty, and your best doggo pals are explicitly and lovingly welcomed with water and treats. (I'd keep mine leashed, for the sake of nervous pups and peeps.) Excited to be the first reviewer for this cute little cafe! The little dog logo and the purple decor immediately caught my eye, so I went in to scope it out. The place is nice and open with ample seating, both inside and out! The employee was very friendly and informed me that they just opened only 2 weeks ago! I did not feel very welcome here in my recent interaction. The place is very cute and looked great online, but my interactions with the barista were very negative. I asked to see a menu as it was my first time and she pointed me to a kiosk instead. I ordered a drink and a pastry on the kiosk, and after my order went through she informed me they were out of the pastry I ordered as well as something the kiosk up charged me for (and not very nicely). I'm not sure why I was directed to a kiosk if I was the only person in the cafe and they were out of several items that were not updated. I asked if there was a way to be refunded for the up charge and that also did not go over well... she didn't even tell me when my order was up and just went back to checking her phone. She was overall very rude and unhelpful. On top of that, my $9 smoothie was mostly ice and I regret not just cancelling my whole order when both items were not available. I will not be returning, but I hope other baristas are better! read more
