My bf and I are regulars here cuz SIP is the nearest brewery from our house lol. Took two stars off cuz SIP has a very limited menu with mostly "munchies" and they don't have various beer options. The beer list consists mainly of sours and IPAs. Love their outdoor seating area. You can enjoy that outdoor patio during summertime or whenever during nice weather. What's even better is that you can bring your dog! More like a picnic area with tables. They have their own parking lot but there's ample parking space just across the street at the church, also. Table server and bartender is attentive and friendly. A definite stop for local residents who's ready for something new. read more

The full story of this brewery and taproom recently created in the Northwest is cool. More cool then the story of how nothing became something, and how somewhere spring out of nowhere-- the big bang producing call: let there be beer. The genesis of Somewhere in Particular, nicely shortened to SIP, came from a novelty brand call Nowhere In Particular by a gypsy brewer (and conclaved elected king of the hobos, according to his webpage) Sir Charles Navillus. Thought to be the only gypsy brewer in Ohio, the vagabond Navillus would go from brewery to brewery borrowing their equipment to make unique concoction under the NIP brand. By defly using social media via an iphone (while he rides the rails at night), Sir Charles broadcast where his ales are found that week. Now he has a full time home in the 100-year-old Henderson House on Dierker Road. Pat Sullivan, Sir Charles' real name, is the head brewer here, his NIP gypsy brew is a side project. Having heard this story and having the first mircobrew in the Northwest I was excited but though it was down the street it took me awhile to finally try it. The Henderson House was well maintained, which I was glad to see. I think they told me it could be rented for private parties but don't quote me on that. A large metal barn addition where I assume the brewing happens stretched on the property. A gravel parking lot had been added. The taproom is to the back, through two doors that look like an entrance to a swimming pool. They matched the decor with the age of the house but mixed a lush, beer garden, natural motif with some mod touches. Nicely dark is the main room consisting of community tables, pomo garage door, and windows to beer vats in blue darklight. The bar is a faux tree slab looking much like a speakeasy. Above the lights are--an unstoppable cliche--edison bulbs. A thick metal tree mural tops the scene. Other art work are colorfully psychedelic. It is a balanced of multiple styles that works. The space is small but comfy. The brew is out of this world. I must explore more of their creations. Saturday Morning Fun Pitt--though I'd usually shy away from something ominous as an 'IPA strawberry smoothie' a couple things made me think it would be good. One the brewers take care as to list what hops their ales are made of, Fun Pitt had three; and two, it came in a tullup beer glass, an indication that they consider all aspects of the drinking experience (unlike many who just piss out their beer in a f'n highball tumbler.) It was superb. SIP's sessions, Scioto Mile IPA, and their New England IPA nicely named Deflate Gate were just as nice. Hppy, smooth, and novel are adjectives I would decribe. Great environment great beer. The pizza I had was good and the service was excellent. Try this place. I do like my dive bars, but the Northwest really need an indy brew here. SIP is a pleasant surprise in the suburbs! They have a wonderful outdoor space and limited indoor space in comparison. Their tap list seems to change often and always has some unique finds and classic flavors. I had a sour IPA that was very easy to drink. My husband also enjoyed his traditional IPA. The food menu is small but mighty. Get the pepperoni pizza - perfect crust, gooey cheese, bite of spice, and honey!! Sounds crazy but go for it. We order an au jus sandwich that I expected would be hot, but instead it tasted like it came out of the fridge. If that is the way the sandwich is intended to be served, I would recommend specifying hot or cold on the menu... I will stick to pizza next time but I am excited to return and try some new beers. read more

Somewhere in Particular (S.I.P for short) is an incredible addition to the Upper Arlington/Northwest neighborhood. We've popped into this trendy new brewery twice since their opening last week and were extremely impressed both times with the beers, food, service and atmosphere. SIP's beers are a combination of Somewhere in Particular and Nowhere in Particular (their sister brewery in Dayton) but they also offer a nice selection of wine and cocktails for all drink lovers. On the beer front, they have a rotating tap list that included a table beer (light easy drinking), porters (delicious coffee & chocolate forward), IPAs (single hop, doubles and fruit infused) and a Belgian Triple, all of which were crisp and delicious! As hop lovers, we especially enjoyed the SIP Bog IPA and NIP Colada IPA, easily two of the best IPAs we've had in Columbus. On the food front, we've already decided that it's going to be impossible to visit SIP without getting their Crack Bacon and hot Pretzel as a warm up....Their Crack Bacon is smoked, candy glazed with a bourbon maple rub, perfectly crispy and bursting with sweet and salty flavor.....the Hot Pretzel was served fresh out of the oven with a house made bier cheese and spicy mustard sauce. No joke, both were so addicting it should be illegal. We also ordered 2 of their pizzas, the "Ohio Pepperoni" and the "Southwest". Both of which were very tasty, perfect portions for 4 people and quite reasonable in price ($10 and $12). My personal favorite was the Southwest: pepperoni, corn salsa, mozz, candied jalapeños and cilantro sour cream drizzled lightly on top...it was surprisingly light and the perfect combination of sweet, spicy and creamy. Lastly, on the atmosphere & service front, the inside decoration of SIP is very cool...we loved the giant beer mural as you walk in and green tree design behind their bar. The service was also beyond attentive and friendly with waitstaff and bartenders coming out to chat with us and ask if we needed anything frequently throughout our night. The seating inside is cozy and was pretty packed both times we visited, which could be a challenge with a big group but we were informed they were planning to open the historic house portion and heat/cover the outside patio in the upcoming weeks which will greatly expand their seating capacity. Overall, SIP is a top notch brewery/restaurant that I can't wait to see grow. Keep up the great work SIP! Can't wait to come back again soon! read more

This new brewery opened today, and it is a welcome addition to our neighborhood. The interior is pretty cool. I love the tree behind the bar. The staff is still working out the kinks, but the service seemed good during the short time I was there. There's a garage door that opens to a nice back patio, which will be an awesome place to drink in warm weather months. I haven't tried the food yet, but will update my review when I do. Beerwise, I had the Liquid Weekend which is a Belgian table beer. I liked it. The Baltic Porter was also quite good. Happy hour offers an excellent deal, $3 house drafts. read more

My wife and I stopped by last night to check this new bar out that was supposed to have a great patio and it didn't disappoint! The bar itself is tucked away near apartments off of Bethel road. When you walk in the bar has a giant mossy tree on the wall and all of their beers on tap. The room has a very industrial feel to it, with two big screens on the wall. The outdoor space has giant tables made by the bar themselves, a fire pit and corn hole. I tried their house brewed IPA and it was delicious. This is a great spot to meet friends, especially outside on the patio on a nice day. Do yourself a favor and check it out. read more

Very much enjoyed the Sip 2x IPA and the Harry Potter and the Carbstone Porter. All of the selections in our two flights were good. Surprisingly, the pizza is very good! (See picture) They make it in the house adjacent to the taproom so we weren't expecting great pizza. And, the hummus platter is also very good. The hummus tastes homemade and is the perfect consistency. We have been there twice, and even during the week, it's very crowded. But the servers were very good even though they had to navigate through the packed room. And, fellow customers enjoyable table mates. Looking forward to going in warmer weather when they can expand to the outside area! read more

Such a cute place and atmosphere! The beers are solid and the space is big and inviting. Huge outdoor area with big garage doors, we went on a nice day and they were open so the whole place was indoor/outdoor atmosphere. Very Berry Bity City was my favorite, Hoppers Hut and Muscles from Brussels we're both good and easy to drink too. Would love to return if I am in the area, note parking was right on Saturday around 8PM! Definitely a lively spot with good music on and some outdoor games to play. read more

I've had this place on my list since I tried one of their beers elsewhere (Deflategate and I don't recall where). It is located off the beaten path, so I haven't found a chance to make it over here. I'm glad I finally did last night! Really solid patio and they have great beers. The venue is cool and I'd love to learn a little more about it. Smaller parking lot, but they have overflow at the church across the street. Our service outside was poor, but it was late. I asked the server at 11:30 if the kitchen was closed and he said yes, it has been for 30 minutes. Interestingly, we hadn't seen him in about 40 minutes. Not a huge deal, but he was a little rude about it. I'll be back to try the food though, everything sounded great! read more

Went here for the first time a few weeks ago with friends. It's a bit out of the way from columbus itself, but ample parking that is free. The selection of beers was not as robust as I would have hoped, but the flight I got was still good. Plenty of outdoor seating which is lovely. We didn't order food but there is a nice selection of options. It wasn't crowded when we went either, which was a huge plus. The staff was very prompt and courteous. Not even worth the one star. I have no words for our waitress this evening. I arrived early with a mama friend and our kiddos at 5:30, sat at a table for about 20 minutes with no service, no greeting at all. Finally, when she approached our table she said "kids have to be gone by 7:00pm".... No hello, no nothing. No water severed, no wine, no nothing. Horrible customer service. She also told us orders are running really long, so we ordered right away. But it took forever.....ugh. She had the worst attitude. She really shouldn't be in food service. And finally when our pizza and apps arrived, I said we wanted the apps before the pizza and she couldn't be bothered. No plates, she said none were left. No silverware, no water still. And let me just say, our food came out at like 6:40, so how we supposed to eat and leave by 7? I'll go to Harvest, I won't be back. The worst experience ever. read more

Both were great, we snacked on some chips and onion dip and the candied bacon very kid and dog friendly but parking is difficult. This is a place that I have always loved and recommended to many people. However, this evening was a different experience. Food and service were good. A few minutes after 7, parents of children were approached (rudely and loudly) that they needed to get out. Every parent that I was close to, including myself were in the works of packing up our children to leave. A few were still waiting to pay I went in to let them know, that after spending over $70 I found it frustrating to be spoken to that way. I know others felt the same. I was told "sorry you feel that way". I understand that some children may have caused issues there in the past. But to be a parent who monitors their children's behaviors closely and then to have the establishment not care is a turn off. We have always loved SIP as not only a family day out but also a date night. It will be hard to go back at all now. To note: I don't disagree with the no children rule after 7pm. I disagree with the manor in which it was enforced. My family has always loved the Gallo's restaurants. I was shocked to have my concerns met with no care at all. read more

A year ago it would have been 4.5 stars. I loved this place. Beer always good, especially the Ghost of Shinobi rice IPA, and I loved their pizza, their crust especially was a really good neopolitan style that rivaled Harvest in Clintonville. But tonight it was terrible. They are still serving the same pizzas but they came on an obviously frozen crust with wire rack imprints still on top of them and the consistency of a burnt cracker. I could get the same pizza in the frozen food section of the super market. Also, no longer have table service, but really confusing QR-code based billing that also charges you 3.5% "delivery fee" you are never informed of. When I asked about it, was told it is just a credit card fee, but still, why is there a 3.5% surcharge on my bill!?!? Beer still good, and their outside seating area is top-notch for families, but I suggest discontinuing the pizza if that is what you are going to serve. I really enjoyed the atmosphere. A nice little place to sit and watch a game or talk with friends. I got the Studweiser; it was a light lager with no after bite, which I enjoyed. Found this place randomly by driving by and I feel like I discovered a secret treasure! I went back with some girlfriends for beer and apps and we had the best time. Tons of outdoor seating with socially distanced picnic tables- great for enjoying a nice day outside. Lots of IPA options but they had a couple stouts too. The Harry Porter and Zhota Drago were both fantastic stouts. The queso was a bit disappointing because it hardened quickly but the candied jalapeños made up for it. I will definitely try their pizza next time because it looked delicious! read more

Last week I visited Somewhere in particular for the first time with a few friends. The next morning I noticed I had lost a key off my keychain. I called Sip's to ask if they had found my car key and they informed me that they had found the key in the parking lot. I was so relieved! The following weekend I went to go pick up the key and was informed that it had been thrown away. I asked why and was told we don't have storage and that I should've come sooner. I told them that I was planning on coming earlier but had a family emergency and I honestly didn't think someone would just throw away car keys. I was absolutely blown away by how unprofessional the bar manager was. I do wanna acknowledge that the original bartender that was trying to locate my key (before we found out it has been thrown out) was very helpful. I wish I could remember her name. She was apologetic and when she heard about my family emergency said I hope your loved one is doing better now. She wasn't able to fix the situation but she did talk to me like a person and was very apologetic towards my situation unlike the bar manager. I know that this review doesn't speak to the quality of their beer or their food but I do think it speaks volumes about their service and how much they value their customers read more

I have been carb conscious with hiking and doing yoga so I picked the cauliflower crust Ohio Peperoni option. This brewery tried several cauliflower crusts before deciding on this Ohio product. I do like this spot and it's a nice little family and dog friendly retreat for an evening usually. I'm bummed bc I recently went with my son and they recommended a pretzel and I ordered a pizza that both came out not appetizing or touched and we weren't offered a different option/discount or anything. So we left paying $53 for a single flight of beer and a lemonade. Unfortunately it is what it is and they're a business, but that customer service doesn't sit right with me personally. read more

But once I got over the cool shock of the location I was able to focus on the beer. I can only comment on their IPAs because that's is all I had. Somewhere in Particular (SIP) recently opened up and is about a half mile walk from my apartment (can you say dangerous?). My gf and I met her parents here to check it out and were impressed. It can definitely be packed at times but we went around 7 and it had died down some. I had two of their IPA's which were both very good. We also ordered a pizza which was delicious and I am excited to try some of their other food. There is a fire outside which we will definitely be taking advantage of when it's not super cold out. The inside is definitely crammed and small with tables blocking some of the pathways to the bar which can make it hard to get a drink and inconvenient for the people sitting at those tables close to the bar but I have heard that they are eventually expanding into more of the building which will open up some room. Until then, it will just be a little more packed in there, especially in the winter months when people aren't willing to go outside to their patio/lot that they have out back. read more

The vibe!!! This is THE perfect place to spend this summer. It's got major backyard feels, amazing staff and a wide selection of drinks. I always worry that breweries won't have anything for me because I'm more of a cider, wine, spirits drinker. They had Blake's cider and the triple jam was so good! The beers would be a 5* alone. That is important to get out of the way. Excellent choices and style. The crack bacon was just ok. Expected better quality, maybe a little more sweet and spicy based on the description but all sweet no spice and all cold. The beer queso was really good but this is an item that serves one adult. My friend and I each got our own, after the first one came out. I would like to come back and try the pizza. The indoor seating is kind of limited and I think that will be their biggest challenge at this location. The outdoor options seem pretty nice and I will enjoy that when it is warm. It seems they do not have a consistent crowd because on the weekends when they do, they seem overwhelmed. As far as the service goes, it was ok but the bar area is small and if they are busy you and maybe one person can fit but otherwise expect to sit at a cramped table and have to remind people you are there. I love this place and would normally give it 5 stars all day long, but tonight the service was absolutely terrible. The waitress was rude, ignored us, and after 2 1/2 hours she stopped by 3 times tops. I would totally understand that it was busy, but she went to every table around us and would walk right by us. When we asked for boxes she plopped them down and ran away before we could even ask for checks, which we obviously wanted since we asked for boxes. She never stopped to see if we wanted anything else and we had to flag her down every time we wanted anything. So I guess it depends on who is working but they have an amazing patio and great food and drink. read more
