The ideal dive bar! From the music to the drinks to the bar food this joint is a home run. The icing on the cake is Patty behind the bar.

We tried a flight of a couple beers with the most unique colors I have ever seen. We also ordered a pretzel with cheese which had a little kick to it. Flights are presented in a 2x2 metal tin -- casual and approachable, consistent with the brewery's neighborhood identity. The beers demonstrate range and intention. Goober PB&J Strawberry stands out as dessert-level execution with authentic peanut butter character and balanced jelly sweetness that feels nostalgic without tipping into sharp sour acidity. It is genuinely crave-able and thoughtfully restrained. Neon Tides (Cherry Limeade Sour) carries a subtle fruit-candy nostalgia -- playful without becoming syrupy. The lime provides lift and keeps the finish clean. A Vicious Cycle (Dark Czech Pilsner) offers structural clarity and balance, functioning as an effective palate reset among sweeter selections. Reign of Crows (Munich Dunkel) reveals quiet complexity with a lightly toasted, almost sesame-like warmth that becomes more expressive as it warms in the glass. The Pumpkin Spice Old Fashioned presents with seasonal intention and visual appeal. The spice profile is evident, though slightly forward relative to the base spirit. The cocktail would benefit from tighter integration between whiskey structure, sweetening element, and spice aromatics to achieve a more cohesive finish. Conceptually strong, with room for refinement in balance. The Winter Salad (roasted red and golden beets, feta, pepitas, dried cranberries, maple vinaigrette) is thoughtfully composed and visually cohesive but distinctly sweet-forward from the first bite. With multiple sweet elements operating in parallel, the profile lacks the acidity or fresh contrast needed to sustain balance through the full portion. A bright lift -- such as shaved fennel, heirloom cherry tomatoes, crisp cucumber, or a subtle citrus adjustment to the vinaigrette -- would introduce dimension and elevate an already strong foundation. The space feels active and community-driven, with visible event programming and family-friendly energy. It is evident that team members are managing multiple responsibilities, including bar service and event coordination. When individuals are asked to wear many hats simultaneously, execution can naturally feel divided. Additional role support or clearer delineation of responsibilities could elevate consistency across the experience. One operational consideration: strongly aromatic outside food was permitted directly at the bar, which overtook the tasting space and disrupted the sensory pairing of beer and food. Because aroma is integral to the tasting experience, clearer environmental boundaries would strengthen the overall execution. The enclosed patio provides an alternative seating option, though it is unheated in colder months. Overall, Counterbalance demonstrates creative brewing, solid technical execution, and a strong community presence. With minor refinements in flavor balance and environmental management, the experience has the potential to move from enjoyable to truly exceptional.

My friend was obviously shaken up and when we asked the owner about it. We were met with aggressiveness and a lack of empathy regarding the matter. There was no genuine apology offered when the situation was witnessed. And when we asked to speak with her she approached us with irritation. And let us know she's not sure what else she wants us to do because she already comped her drinks. When I proceeded to ask if she was okay with said behavior from this man, she aggressively responded and continued to show a lack patience or empathy. She was very aware of the matter because her bartender requested for something to be comped, but failed to acknowledge the concern as a business owner directly to her customers. As if we didn't experience something personally violating and traumatic, while she was only a few feet away. And also was seen engaging with said man; prior to allegedly requesting them to leave. I'm deeply disappointed in my experience and I would not recommend any business here.

"No Soliciting " is a bar we found online - but didn't realize is a private club for members only. We tried The Pearl next door. They were closing in minutes. So we found that North High was the next closest place that closed at 10:00pm. We were also desperate for a restroom. We walked in - the place was devoid of customers - and the bar tender was NOT happy to see us. She had a very long day - and was yearning to "Just. Go. Home." We've all been there. She agreed to let us have one drink in plastic cups - completely understandable. But she messed up by letting us stay - completely underestimating the level of style & charm (not to mention handsomeness) my colleague and I possess *wink* . "One drink" turned into a handful. A good time was had by all. We hated that we had an early morning the next day - and had to return to our hotel well before we would have liked. I will make North High a "mandatory stop" on future visits (alongside my other "mandatory stop" - The Rusty Bucket for their buffalo chicken sandwich - with an extra side of buffalo). Side note - she gave me a taste of their Bloody Mary mix. *VERY* good. I used some of my dashing character and disarming baby blues to swindle them out of a bottle for only $15. It was worth $50. But this was a one-off deal. Don't walk in there expecting the same courtesy - unless you too possess unmatched panache & flair *finger guns*.

We went today for Father's Day, about six months after the last sub par experience, hoping it would be better. Somehow they ran out of chicken again?! AND lemonade, and they had no kids menus left. Food took forever. I ordered a glass of wine that never arrived - and when we got our check it's just a tablet with a price. We wanted to leave so I didn't even check to see if the wine was still on there. Food was cold, salad was soggy, burger was very meh. For $150 it was overall a bad experience for the second time in a row. Definitely spend your money at any of the other local restaurants in town.

I did get lost in the parking garage and went down to Level 1. FYI: You have to go to Level 5 to exit into the street level. First impressions: It's so clean and has a nice welcoming energy to it. As soon as I walked in, I noticed all the plants: some were hanging and many were near the windows throughout the whole place. They were real and very healthy. Someone who works here must have a green thumb. There were many tables and chairs, a long bar and a separate area for private parties. There is a QR code to order at our table but I ordered from the bar because it was not too busy. My bartender was very friendly. She acknowledged me right away, and came to take my order as soon as she could. I ordered the margarita but all the cocktails looked so good. The decor behind the bar was beautiful! It was a long picture of a runway with a plane taking off. There were also airplane windows that were so cute and went with the whole airport theme. I came up later to order shots for our table. The same bartender once again helped me find the right shot for my friends . I also tried the Kitty Paw hard Steltzer drink. It was refreshing and I loved the hint of Guava. The whole place wasn't too loud. We could carry on our conversations without shouting. They had an etagere near our table full of board and card games. My friends grabbed the Truth or Fear game. We never played it before, It was a fun game to get to know each other. I would definitely come back here again. It was so welcoming and fun.
