My absolutely favorite women's clothing store in the Cobble Hill, Brooklyn Heights, Carroll Gardens areas of Brooklyn. I am a Banana Republic / J. Crew style dresser and I was thrilled to find that Something Else really had so many things to fit this look at more than 1/2 the price. The fashion is edgy, urban and very "NY/LA" which at first glance is not my look. I dress quite preppy, proper and with a distinct lack of pattern. Yes, a black and white kind of shopper. However to my surprise and delight, Something Else has an fabulous selection of solid basics. For example they carry Hue which I love for leggings and socks. With little effort I always find great additions to my wardrobe, when I stop in, and the prices never prevent me from buying. I always get compliments on the items I have purchased here as well. My best three dresses of Summer 2013 came from here. Customer service is always very friendly and accomodating. The staff are quick to say hello and offer any help. They are NOT, which I really appreciate, hard sellers. They let you browse and are readily available for other sizes, questions and access to the dressing rooms. They also have an amazing customer incentive program called the 500 club. $25 off any item after spending $500. Final note of how much I love this store...when my family came to Brooklyn for Christmas last year, I took them to Something Else and we bought each other all our gifts for one another in one shop. I was in Brooklyn this weekend and truely found what i was looking for. What a really cute store lets first start off with. This store has an amazing selection of Junk Food t-shirts. My boyfriend and I went crazy and bought a bunch of really cool vintage looking shirts from Junk Food. The service I thought was really great as well. I will most defiantly be back for more Junk Food shirts, the manager said they get them in just about every month..I know where my Lunch money will go..LOL read more

I used to love this store when I first moved to Brooklyn 3 years ago. The quality went down slowly and is now so run down. Went today and they had a moving sale. I guess I shouldn't have expected much.. But wow! No one even greeted me or anyone else who walked in. Helped myself to a dressing room, then to make matters worse someone abruptly opened the dressing room curtain on me. I pointed this out to the girl at the counter (directly across from the fitting room) and she said it's hard watch. I'll leave it at that. Hopefully the new location is like the shop used to be. In comparison with the other boutiques in the area, this place is reasonably priced. You can find a number of cute dresses made with natural fibers for around $40. Furthermore, they have antique and trendy jewelry for under $30. Their style isn't outlandish, but it may too plain for the super hipster. Overall, I like their mix of updated trendy and classic basics. The staff seems to be really friendly and helpful. Whenever I have a question about sizing, style or price ranges, they're knowledgeable and honest. When I was looking for dresses with a smaller fit, the sales lady told me she couldn't offer any rather than try to convince me to purchase what they have. Another time I asked for help finding a gift under $30, and she gave me a nice selection of items from which to choose. Their men's selection is sparse, yet their stuff is cool. They also carry a good line of casual canvas sneakers and flats. It's a good place to stop by whenever you're in the neighborhood or looking for a cute little gift. read more

I was attempting to buy a christmas gift for my father. They were out of his size so they had it shipped from another store and said they would call me when it arrived. Nobody called me and they sold the shirt without telling me. When I called to ask about it the woman who picked up the phone was extremely rude. Now I don't have a christmas gift! Don't trust the people at this store. Also you can buy the same stuff basically anywhere or online, where you'd at least be guaranteed to get what you ordered. read more

Great store! Always leave with something in hand and REASONABLY priced....boutiques on Smith Street can be very pricey (i.e Bird), but this store keeps the prices reasonable and always has something new in....they are also very good to their customers..I returned something after it broke after a week and they gave me store credit with no problem...they also have a nice shopping incentive...save your receipts and when you total over $500, you get a $25.00 gift card...a little high for my liking, but better then having no shopping perks! read more

my neighborhood go to for jeans + in the summertime they always have such great dresses and cute tanks... my friends always ask where I got them from when I'm wearing clothes from this store! WARNING: They do not accept returns. Even on un-worn, and under 30-day old merchandise! I bought a pair of shoes and told the sales lady I needed to try them on with a different pair of pants. I did when I got home and they didn't work, so I had my husband bring them back the next day and all i got was store credit... thanks a lot for the warning... and the lack of signage! read more

Great shop, that carries tons of cool brands. They have a nice selection of Penguin stuff, especially the button down shirts (my favorite). The staff is friendly and the owner has a really cool dog! I would definitely reccomend this cool neighborhood boutique. read more

This store has a little bit of everything. Great when you're in a pinch for the right thing to wear or you're in a bind to get the right shirt or jeans at the right price. I don't live in Brooklyn, however when we are in NY, city or Brooklyn, my wife wants to go to Something Else for the Jean selections and more importantly the unique clothing they have. They also have great mens shoes. read more

Customer service is the worst in this store. I usually like going there but lately I was only be able to go on Thursday and this staff who is the most arrogant and rude customer service.
