Somerset has always been a destination for a fun day of shopping, food, and beautiful decorations at Christmas time and it continues to stay that way! Now with Lakeside being closed, this is now my preferred indoor mall! So many great new places opening up, including Laderach chocolate and Mad Nice Coffee!

Good to see a mall that is still thriving. It is far away unless you live in Troy. 3 floors, no empty stores at all and everyone was shopping. There are high end luxury stores and stores with regular priced items. The thing I don't like is the food court. It is small and doesn't look very appealing. Everyone wait in line for chic fila and cookie.

I love this mall. It's probably the best mall in Michigan, lol. It's huge, clean, bright and where you can find majority of the luxury stores. Hey, it's always nice to window shop. They also have a lot of eateries and not so high end retailers. Some of the stores here are Apple, Aldo, Bath & Body Works, Claire's, Fossil, Gap, Lego, Nike, Tommy Bahama, Vans and William Sonoma. It's divided into two sides, North and South. They have a walkway connecting the two called the Skywalk. It also has moving walkways for people who don't feel like walking.

Easter Bunny information

So unfortunately this will be the last time we visit the Easter Bunny or Santa at The Somerset Collection. We arrived on the south side at 5:30p where it has taken place for years, that's my fault for not noticing it has changed to the north side. I called Somerset at 5:33p to ask where the bunny was and the concierge said they were now on the north side but we had to hurry to get over there but we would be able to get in. We rushed and arrived at 5:39 in spite of their elevator and moving sidewalk being broken. Even though stated online and on posters throughout the mall that it's open until 6p we were refused. I then spoke to the concierge and was told that they stop the line at 5:45 or 5:40. I pointed out that we were there at 5:39 and the line was already closed and her response was to shrug and say they can do that. I also pointed out that their signs read 6:00 and she kept responding that they stop the lines early though nowhere on their information does it state that. If I knew it closed almost a half an hour early then I would've just gone to Twelve Oaks which is open until 7p and I could make reservations. As I left with a crying Piper I noticed we weren't the only ones leaving with disappointed children. This is a children's event, they should be more specific on their times, not "we may stop the lines early at 5:45...or 5:40...or 5:39" with a shrug of the shoulders to the children.

Beautiful architecture in Somerset Mall

Excellent selection of stores, beautiful architecture inside the building. It is usually pretty busy. I love the Lego store! Great mall, I highly recommend visiting

On a recent trip to the mall for some after the holidays shopping we couldn't get over how beautifully decorated the mall was. Both sides of the mall were full of shoppers and if you wanted to visit the luxury stores there was a wait time. Most stores were running some great deals during our visit. If you need to use an elevator note that they are usually at max capacity and take a bit to open up. Also, the lines at the food court are insanely long. A very popular food court spot is Chick Fil A and the line wraps around. Overall the staff at all the stores we visited were kind and helpful. Overall the mall was clean, stores were accessible and there were a ton of stores that had specialty things like designing your own bracelet, a candy shop, a shoe collector spot and of course the luxury and athletic stores. It also has a variety of anchor stores too. Parking can be a little tricky depending on where you are interested in shopping but there is still plenty of it. There is a skywalk that lets you walk between the two sides of the mall and includes a moving walkway on both sides. We absolutely enjoy visiting this mall and the multiple making our way around the multiple floors and seeing all the stores.

Chic mall with pretty much every store you could think of rather you wanted to grab Christmas decor or something cute for a date night. If you haven't stopped by this mall you should check it now because there Christmas castle is absolutely gorgeous!!!

I grew up in Troy and for a good chunk of it, I grew up not 2 miles down the road from Somerset. I even remember a time before Somerset was here and this space was just a lot that sold Christmas trees! I remember going to the grand opening of one of the department stores at the time (was it Neiman Marcus or Hudson's?) and they had on display a ridiculously massive, expensive, and extremely ethically questionable fur coat to celebrate the opening. How times have changed! Despite however long it has been, Somerset still stands fresh as a daisy, seemingly none the older than when it first opened all those years ago. This mall still seems just as bright, airy, and modern regardless of the decades changing around it, and the mall has done a great job at bringing in new stores to update its literal *collection* as the years have gone by. It's comical to me that there has always been and will probably always be a rich and poor side, even though the poor side is pretty bougie in and of itself already. I miss the days when there were 4 Starbucks in this entire mall (there's now only 3 *gasp*) and the novelty of the SkyWalk was still so real and you could wave down at the cars driving up & down Big Beaver and wave and get waves back haha! Now, the Skywalk and this mall are ingrained into the fabric of Troy and probably considered its crowning gem. All in all, you could and probably should literally spend hours upon hours, days upon days here. There's so many awesome stores here to check out and there seem to always be new ones coming in. Keep looking good, Somerset! You'll be my number one mall forever!

Selling Sunglasses. . Their products are bad. Manager is a horrible. Customers service is pool. However the employees are nice.

Ask the Community - Somerset Collection

Guys is there a play spot for kids in this mall?

Not really. There is an open area in the concourse but there aren't any toys/ball pits, etc

I wasn't too excited about going into the mall for just one stop at first, but it ended up being pretty easy. As long as you go in through the right entrance, you don't have to walk the whole mall, although we love the huge size and selection at Great Lakes! We used the map right by the door and found GameStop quickly. The mall felt welcoming and had a lot going on, so it's definitely a place you could spend more time if you wanted to. Even though we didn't need help from mall staff, we were greeted by a few people as we walked through, which was nice. It turned out to be a smooth and easy visit overall.

My favorite stores to shop here were: Just Cozy, TJ Maxx, Burlington, and The Nike Store. All of these stores had items that I needed and all of them had a large variety to choose from. Many of these stores also had great sales and specials. They had a Winter Wonderland setup and Santa Claus was there for photos. I also appreciated that they had Christmas Carolers from a local church group singing live here. The food court was not good. We had a family member get sick from the Japanese food place, so please be careful. The variety in the food court is also a range of different options, which was good. This indoor mall is now my fave here.

So much has changed over the years. She saw stores come and go, and several restaurants come and go that we used to love so much. There was a burger place with the best espresso milk shakes. There was a stir fry place we loved so much that left that one of the kids cried real tears to see it gone. But today there is still a lot for us to come here for. We really love the addition of Barnes and Noble, where you will find us every time we come here, we love this book store. While it is smaller than some, it typically carries what we are looking for. We love PF Chang's and Shake Shack. I am excited to try Pokeworks at some point. I love Sephora. I am sad that Parisian/ Carsen's went out of business, but we do go to the new store from time to time. Even though this is a tiny outdoor mall, I do come to their events. This event was the Harry Potter Butterbeer Truck activity. I believe I found it first on the official Harry Potter site, then on local advertisements. It was so fun. We actually stood in line for two hours, but it was so nice out, it was worth it just soaking up the Spring air and sunshine and people watching. They have had reindeer and petting farms here during Christmas. I love their Christmas lights. We have gone to their very small art fairs and other outdoor community activities. As some stores close, they seem to find new ones to open and new restaurants, which is great. I hope they continue to plan community activities, we will continue to visit. I am probably here once a week since it is nearby.

There still seems to be quite a few stores here that interest the family, especially the kids, like Hot Topic, Forever 21, Spencer's, H&M, Macy's, Dick's Sporting Goods, Sbarros...but it seems very empty of both people and stores. I am also not sure about how this place is labeled on yelp, it looks like someone tampered with the name of the mall. The other thing about this place is it is organized very strangely, like parts have a second floor and parts have a lower level, very confusing. There are so many great restaurants and shopping opportunities around this mall to help support customers, maybe it could have a revival? We came here because we went to some stores close by and also wanted to see if we could find a particular, which we were unable to find. Perhaps they could not survive. I am not saying I would not return, but since there is another mall in Troy, I am more likely to go there and just go to other strip malls and restaurants over here.

I remember Oakland Mall being so crowded that it was hard to make one's way through the corridors on weekends without bumping into people. When I was a kid, Oakland Mall seemed to cater more to a middle to upper middle class clientele. Now it is solidly mid-market with the Somerset Collection taking over as the upscale shopping center in Troy. Despite the many empty storefronts, including the massive hole left behind by where Sears once stood, Oakland Mall is a decent shopping center worth visiting. Macy's and JcPenney have occupied the same retail space for as long as I can remember, and are still there. The same goes for the longstanding A&W, which I find to be a clean location with good fries and cheese curds. Other stores that can be found at Oakland Mall include Dick's Sporting Goods, New York & Company, Bath & Body Works, Claire's, H&M, Tai Ji Wellness, BrowArt23, and a small food court. It's unfortunate that so many shopping malls have not found a way to bring back customers who have turned to online shopping. The few successful shopping malls I have seen have been good at diversifying with lots of restaurant options, high and low-end stores, and the addition of supermarkets. I would love to see a Target or Meijer open up where Sears used to be. I think there is potential for Oakland Mall to revitalize if it can bring in a major retailer or supercenter. Until then, some of those empty spaces would make great haunted houses or escape rooms!
