To sum it up, "not bad, not bad," I came here during the NBA finals with some friends & it was full. This is a quaint, clean place for just about anything it seems. It was great for dinner as a restaurant with friends & drinks like a sports bar. Fits about 7 tables in addition to the bar counter. The crab nachos were what we mainly came to try out. They were pretty good! The wings, not so much. Wings were super soggy unfortunately. Their house cocktails were pretty decent. it's walking distance to many other places for bar hopping. I went to Some Random Bar to catch up with some former co-workers. I remember coming to this place before when it was called something else. I don't quite remember the name of the place, but after coming recently, I really enjoyed the renovated bar area, and it just looks a lot nicer than before. We opted for some of the bar snacks, including the fries and the garlic pull-apart with burrata. The fries were ample and crispy, and the pull-apart was like a flaky, round croissant with some killer burrata. I only wish that the pull-apart came out hot, or at least warmed. Nonetheless, it was very filling and if you piled enough burrata on, it was enough to keep the dish palatable. As for beers, we went for one of the local red ales, which were pretty hoppy and delicious. They have a pretty good rotating seasonal beer menu, as well as different periodic specials on spirits. Both the Eastern Conference Finals for hockey and the Western Conference Finals for basketball were on, and while there weren't a ton of TVs, we were able to watch both games comfortably. Service was very attentive and friendly. They allowed us to move our tab from the bar to one of the tables pretty seamlessly and without trouble. Not too shabby. The prices were pretty great for happy hour, and the regular prices for food were reasonable. Overall, the place seems like a pretty awesome neighborhood joint, great for casual post-work drinks, or watching some sports. My recommendation is to hit up Some Random Bar for happy hour and snacks, and then head over to Black Bottle for a meal. read more

I went to this place because the food reviews were great. We got there and the menu was very small and absolutely no gluten free options. We had to leave to find a place I could eat at. In response: I asked my waitress about several dishes that looked good that I would have ordered she replied with each one I asked about they all had gluten. Beer selection is horrible They only feature brands from one major beer distributor from what I can tell. Nothing like screwing your customers out of choice. There's a ton of great breweries in the city. It seems almost like some large beer distributor gave them a financial incentive to take away choice from their customers. It's a bar. That lovely (vegan) boyfriend of mine decided that since we'd mostly been eating to accommodate him during our Seattle vacation, he wanted me to be able to have the seafood I'd been craving for our last night in town. After checking out some of the photos on Yelp, he felt confident that even with a changing menu I'd be able to find something seafood-y. So it was that we were at Some Random Bar on a recent Sunday night. We snagged a couple of seats at the bar and were quickly greeted by the bartender who informed us that the Sunday night special was coin flip beer. (Pretty sure I'm the only one calling it that, though.) You call heads or tails on a coin flip and if you're right you only pay $1 for your beer (full price if you're wrong). How cool (and fun!) is that? Of the three beers we ordered, we only paid full price for one of them. And now I'm trying to figure out a way to convince my favorite San Diego bar to play this game, too. :) I ordered the Coho salmon sliders (2 to an order) and they were delicious. Perfectly cooked and seasoned, it was a great last dinner in Seattle. I had the option to get a side to go along with the sliders, but the sliders alone were the perfect portion size for me. Vegan options on the menu are pretty non-existent (I think the bf had chips and guac), but there are one or two vegetarian options. The staff was friendly in a not overwhelming way and the ambiance was cozy and warm. I wish this was my local neighborhood hangout instead of a place that's two states away. Solid 4.5 star. It is a family run place, and you can feel it from the the enthusiastic service. Great local beer, and the server certain knows the beers and can make excellent recommendation base on a few name of the beer you throw out. Food here is solid, and it changes everyday, and low key farm to table fare. Portion is average, and could be share as they are on the heavy side. The food was pretty decent. My burger surprisingly had really good flavor so that was a plus. They had buratta (spl) cheese which I really loved! It was basically like a softer mozzerella. That pretty much made the sandwich. They lost many many points however for not having pickles. They have slightly pickled cucumbers instead that were NOT the same at all but I guess you have to have a taste for it. My hubby had the pulled pork sandwhich and he said it was a 6/10. One thing he really didn't like is that it was so greesy so that was a down turn for sure. Their fries are good and the garlic aioli sauce is pretty tasty. Have to say, the name is definitely a big draw in for me to check it out, but you won't be disappointed by their quality and service. Try these for food, you'll be wanting to come back for more. - Pork cheeks (soo amazing) - Crab nachos (lots of crab meat!) - Twice cooked pork knuckle (pretty big portioned) - Pork belly sliders They also change up their menu, so not all dishes might be available at all times. I've been here a couple of times now and I have to say I really love this spot. First up, it has a great feel. Everyone is extremely friendly, the music is good, and they seem all about just making really good food and cocktails while making people happy. Their happy hour is amazing. They do a great collection of cocktails for $5, which can't be beat! They also offer a set of menu items for $2/off. Thus far I've had their fish tacos and pork loin. Both were great dishes, and a bargain at their normal price, let alone with another couple bucks off. Some Random Bar seems aptly named. At first glance there seems to be nothing to distinguish SRB from the many other nondescript gastropubs in Seattle. But like many things the devil is in the details and this is where SRB shines. Their woefully under advertised Happy Hour is a fantastic deal. $5 specialty cocktails and discounts on beer and wine. You also get $2 off their rotating food menu. Their classic items don't get discounted, which is a shame since that is where the pricey, but oh so filling Crab Nachos reside. These aren't your typical bar nachos. Nearly every chip is smothered in fresh whole crab meat, cheese, roasted onions, and guacamole. Worth every penny. The seasonal Watermelon Salad and Copper River Salmon Sliders were lighter options that were great on a hot day. Those three dishes were enough to fill two of us up to the point of bursting. What really helps set SRB apart is their warm helpful service. The owner Mike helped guide us through the menu and made sure we never saw the bottom of our glasses. read more

Definitely a nice addition to Belltown with a lot to like. The space is simple but clean and open. The bar focuses on craft cocktails and local producers, but also has a few TV screens for game day. And the service is warm and genuine and not pretentious at all. As for the food, we tried the crab nachos, which seems to be everyone's favorite and were not disappointed, with nice chunks of dungeness crab. Bacon shows up in quite a few dishes including chocolate covered (a nice sweet and savory snack) and in an old fashioned! And speaking of old fashioned, I really enjoy the version here with knob creek rye (in addition to the aforementioned bacon version as well as the chocolate version). Went here with a girlfriend for happy hour on a Tuesday night, after reading about its opening a few weeks prior (and who can resist such a cool and quirky named-bar playing homage to Seinfeld!) It looked right up my alley - exposed brick, locally sourced foods when possible, a rotating menu based on seasonal goodies, PICKLED jars of goodies on the menu, and PBRs in brown bags. So, hip meets laid back meets AWESOME. It didn't disappoint. It's located next door to Black Bottle, which I'm sure has caused a bit of a stir as the two are very similar in ambiance and culinary offerings. Random Bar is smaller - and I LOVE that we were served by the owners, a husband and wife team who are clearly passionate about this place. It shows in everything they do. Happy hour is great - all drinks are half off, and it goes until 7, which is great for those of us who typically can't sneak out at 4.30 for a bevvie. I got the jars of pickled things and it was PHENOMENAL. Veggies, fruits, olives and spiced nuts - the perfect amount for a nibble and enough variety that it kept me on my toes every bite. My gal-pal got the French fries with dipping sauces and couldn't even eat them all, the portion size was massive - and they were delicious. The best bit, though, is they welcomed us with complimentary chocolate-dipped bacon strips - which I'll tell you this place will quickly become famous for. I don't like chocolate and I don't like bacon, but put them together, add a bit of sea salt, and I was in snack food heaven. It was sensational. Chocolate covered bacon should be great but it was kind of soggy - like it had been sitting around all day. I've been here on two occasions. Both times, the service was nice. A tad on the slow side, even when there aren't a lot of other customers. But they do get you your drinks and food eventually. The crab nachos I found to be a bit disappointing, mainly because they seemed kind of bland. I really wanted to like the sliders, but they were greasy, lacking in flavor and way too fatty. I felt sick the rest of the evening after eating that much grease. They may not have the largest beer selection, but I liked every drink that I ordered. As someone that knows Belltown really well, I'd recommend them for drinks... but go somewhere else for food! read more

I love the vibe in this place, a little laid back, a little hipster, a little San Francisco, and a lot of Seattle with a classy Texas umbrella. The food item I drooled over were the fried mushrooms, best I've ever had! I had a beer flight as well, all local brews which was exactly what I was looking for on my first Washington State visit. The ambiance was pretty stellar with a wood/metal decor and a great playlist in the background, very suitable for my song-add. I ended up meeting the owner, he was conversing with a few people about the tap list, the brewers, and the soccer game up in Vancouver the previous Sunday. The boyfriend and I went in last night on our little "bar crawl", we're new to the area so we wanted to check out a few places to grab a drink and this was one place we walked in to. It happened to be Sunday Funday! On Sunday Funday, they flip a coin and if you call it right, your drink is $1, if not it's just regular price. I wasn't so lucky yesterday, but my boyfriend definitely was! Both of his drinks were $1, oh and by the way the drinks were fabulous! Oh and get the Crab Nachos, they're freaking amazing. We were stuffed walking in to the place, but we couldn't pass up trying out those nachos and it was totally worth it. Adorable! Satisfying! Fantastic tap list! Just what we needed after a long day of playing tourist. Our server was kind, attentive, and has great beer recommendations. We are IPA lovers from minnesota, eager to try local beers, and she had us try two to compare- it was perfect. The playlist in the background was superb. We sat next to a lovely couple and chatted. We were in a bit of a rush, and our server was incredibly prompt and professional. There was complementary chocolate covered bacon to boot! We stopped in for a snack and drink after a movie at the SIFF. There are great drink options and the food menu was extensive enough to satisfy our group of 6. I had the Texan mule which is really a Moscow mule and it was perfectly balanced. There is a good beer list as well as some wine options. We loved the crab nachos. It was some of the best nachos I've ever had. The chips stayed crunchy, there were just enough toppings and a lot of flavor. The pieces of crab were succulent and not dried out or stringy. Seafood nachos usually gets a dubious look from me but Some Random Bar's crab nachos have me me a convert! Probably one of the best things on the menu. We also enjoyed the sweet potato fries, they used a yellow sweet potato varietal and it was fried up properly. The pull apart garlic bread also got the seal of approval. Glad to have another solid watering hole option in Belltown. It's closer to Queen Anne and parking isn't as difficult as you would think. The service was great, consistent and helpful. read more

I'm a beer connoisseur, not a beer snob and I love that they only have WA beer on tap. The Lucille's IPA and whatever draft oatmeal stout they have were delicious. This place has a very San Fran Mission District or Brooklyn Williamsburg vibe that I love; 20s and 30s professional crowd, not too hipster but not too straight-edge. You've got your average Joes to your left, an obvious first-date Grindr meetup over your right shoulder and somewhere else in the bar- you're not too sure where but you can certainly hear them- the cool Microsoft techies that don't have corporate sticks up their asses but do lack the normal social etiquette to practice their inside voices whilst under the influence. This place is LOUD, a little weird and I loved it. It is some random bar, afterall. The environment is 90% of the experience and I was pleasantly surprised by the first stop on my Seattle bar run. Most of the food tasted decent. Service was fantastic. But way overpriced for the quantity you get. For $18 nachos, I'd expect a platter to feed the whole table. It was disappointingly small. For a meal, I ordered the salmon-trout pate dish - it was a lump of over-salted fish about 2 inches long maybe 1 inch wide, served with 6 slices of toast dripping with olive oil. Same deal with the steak tartar - mostly bread. To be fair, the burger order my friend got looked huge. I tried a couple of the fancy cocktails and they weren't anything special.
