Yummy in the tummy! If you're in the neighborhood and craving a salad or sandwich, then look no further. SOMA Eats has a great selection. My favorite menu items are the Baked Salmon Greek Goddess Salad and the Turkey Meatloaf Sandwich, depending on whether or not I want something healthy or more filling. The location is nice but can get busy. If you want to dine in, you probably want to come in right before rush hour. The line moves rather quickly though so don't let that scare you away. They have a bit of outdoor seating on the sidewalk, which is nice on a sunny day. Alas, like any other place around here, prices are pretty steep. read more

I came here from a recommendation from a friend. She knows I've been eating healthier and mentioned that their salmon salad was amazing and super healthy. I ordered ahead through Yelp and the food was ready as soon as I got to the counter. While I didn't eat there, inside was super big, with high ceilings and had a few tables there. The salad was pretty big and average price for downtown sf. I noticed there was a lot of variety in the salad and the salmon piece was a huge portion. I loved the dressing that it came with. It went really well with the salmon. I normally dont like kale, but I actually really liked it in this salad. I would definitely recommend this place if you want to feel healthy and satisfied. It seems the salmon salad is one of the most popular items here too. read more

Soma eats is good, I think it's a 5 star bar with the best bar food ever, but as a restaurant it's presentation is a little plain, gets a little crowded, it's a little expensive which just adds up The lamb sandwich is about as good as you're ever going to find though, it's hard to get one that isn't gamey and stands on its own merits and not just the lamb taste Definitely want to come back when I'm not expected back and working way through that 100+ beer selection though, it's enough to make you cry read more

This place gets pretty crowded around lunch time but that's expected as it's a pretty convenient location near a lot of prominent offices. Overall, it's a nice place to get a healthier lunch including a salad, soup, or sandwich. I ordered the jerk chicken salad sandwich ($10.50) which was mediocre- there was a loooot of arugula but that was probably healthier for me in the long run, lol. We only had to wait around 10 minutes for our food to come, and as there were people coming and going I'd think it's not too difficult to find a place to sit either, although we decided to eat back at the office. Next time I'd want to try something different and maybe come earlier/later to beat the lunch rush. read more

This place is next to my office, and i go there every once in a while. The salads are bit on the expensive side, but hell its SF so everything here is expensive, but overall the salads are nice and fresh( what else does one want). Its a cool place, and its quite trendy. Overall this place has a cool vibe to it which just pulls me over everytime i pass it. Tip: It tends to get a bit crowded during lunchtime, but lines move quickly, so dont worry :) read more

For some reason this place comes up every time, I mention that I just came back from San Francisco. People love this place. SOMA Eats is a basic deli/cafe with some above par lunch options. The place was crazy busy when I walked in so you may want to place your order online to avoid the wait. They offer both indoor and out seating options, but if possible, get your food to go and eat outside. There are great outdoor spots within a few blocks of this place. Need a little nip before back to work? They also have a decent beer and wine selection; you can order full bottles of wine or by the glass, all depending on how thirsty you are or how much you love or dislike your job. Going with a friend's suggestion, I ordered the Baked Salmon Green Goddess Salad, no joke this was delicious, but I wish I doubled down on the salmon. This mountain of greens comes with baked salmon, avocado, cherry tomatoes, shredded carrots, mixed greens, baby kale and romaine with a creamy basil dressing. I was happy to twelve dollars for this meal and kept me full for the rest of the day. The fish was tender; the greens were very fresh and crisp, and the basil dressing was tangy and added some much-needed acid. In the Financial District and looking a lunch on the go. Came here for a healthy lunch based off the great reviews. Arrived at 12:45 and we skipped the lunch rush! The place had a cool and hipster vibe. We ordered a salmon salad and roasted vegetable salad, both were delivered to our table in less than 5 minutes - yay! Portions were huge, we both had plenty leftovers. I thought the salad was too heavily dressed (forgot to ask for dressing on the side). Everything was super fresh, the salmon was not dry at all. Price of the salad was very reasonable for soma. Beware of the drink wall... I grabbed a juice and found out it was $10 when I was paying for it :( Looking forward to coming back next time to try their other items! read more

I can't believe I missed reviewing this place when I was back from San Fran. Thanks Yelp for asking me to review places I have checked into. AWWW, now I am sad because it is cold outside and I want to be by the ocean. What an awesome little busy joint to come through for lunch. Literally all the feels when I reminisce about this place. The vibes were my favorite part. Bustling through a busy lunch hour with all different types of people in line to get food. The conversations were loud and everyone was so friendly. Now for the food. I loved the breakfast we had delivered to our work that morning and it was funny we made it there for lunch too. The breakfast I had was the sandwich and it was great! I love fresh breakfast sandwiches and when everyone else in the room is content with their meal, that is a high five from me. For lunch I had the Salmon Green Goddess salad and I will never ever forget it. I got to take a walk from work to pick up this salad, then bring it back to work, and enjoy it from the rooftop overlooking the city. The salad was fresh, and crafted perfectly. The veggies were fresh and crunchy. The salmon was so tasty and flavorful, I loved every part of it. Really great dressing too. When in San Fran, I shall stop again! read more

I came here with a big group during lunch rush and had a great experience. SOMA is a great place to go for a healthy quick lunch. They have a selection of fresh salads, sandwiches, and soups. There is a huge fridge stocked with teas, beers, and fruit juices. I personally did not have any beer but they had a HUGE selection of craft beers. The wait time was very quick for how large the lunch crowd was. Our whole party got their food fast and loved it! I had the Baked Salmon Green Goddess Salad. If I may say so myself, it was amazing! The portion of salmon was very generous and filling. The salmon was cooked perfectly for my liking. The ingredient were all extremely fresh and the dressing was to die for. Greek salad was better than I could have imagined!! A mix of cucumber, tomatoes, olive tapenade, sun-dried tomatoes and the most juicy rotisserie chicken nicely chopped in with slivered almonds. I have to admit it was a bit overwhelming walking into this place on a weekday around noon. It was unclear where to order, where to get a menu and where to sit once you finally did order. But we figured it out and I think overall everyone was really happy with the food, and a great price for an average of $10 for lunch in SF. read more

Coworker: You gotta try the salmon salad with green goddess dressing! Me: Don't tell me what to do. Coworker: It's life changing. Me: That's the saddest thing I've ever heard. Coworker: I could eat it every day. Best lunch around the office! Me: Are they paying you a commission on every order for this salad? Coworker: It's just seriously so good. Highly recommend it. Me: Yah I don't know... I kinda have this goal to get through life having never talked highly of a salad before. *** *** *** I actually did end up getting that salad even though I generally despise getting salads, especially as meals, but they didn't have a veggie sandwich and I wasn't confident that a bowl of the soup would be enough for my appetite. Verdict: It was a really decent salad. Good dressing, huge portion, my salmon was pretty dry but it was still a surprisingly good salad... and for $12, it should be. The lines here are madness but they move quickly... thought you'll soon discover that finding a seat here is even more madness. In my opinion, the drink selection is what really stood out. SOMA Eats makes one decadent salad (I'm looking at you, Baked Salmon Green Goddess!). It's the most tender, succulent, and yes oily, salmon I've ever had. It's magical, and really hard to order salmon salad anywhere else now. Pricey at about $12, but the portion size & quality are top notch. The lunch rush is real, but they move VERY fast. Just be careful with order modifications, as they usually don't pay attention to those (especially if you order online!) Things move so fast here, that you reeeeally need to communicate any special preferences extra clearly. For example, I always ask for them to toss the dressing into my salad, instead of leaving in on the side. 4 out of 5 times they don't do this, so I have to send it back --- because integrated dressing is essential to salad satisfaction! I take these things seriously. Their catered breakfasts are also impressive! Always a gourmet hit at our office. And check out their very bourgeois beer, wine & artisan soda selection! You could really treat yourself here. Watch out for the $6 kombuchas. read more

After several visits, I can confidently say that I'm really digging the program at SOMA Eats. I'm a huge proponent of the 'grab and go' premise near my office for lunch... sitting down at a restaurant usually requires the hawk-eyeing of tables, which doesn't make for a soul-nourishing lunch experience. I'd rather place my order (for something tasty + healthy) at the counter, wait in an elbow-filled purgatory for a few minutes, and then be on my way. SOMA Eats is a breath of fresh air - the space is actually (gasp) spacious, with plenty of tables, tall ceilings, and all the urban chic trimmings. They also curate an impressive selection of craft beer and wine should you want to get a leg up on your recipe for an evening in done right. The menu is interesting enough to lure me in twice in one week - that actually happened last week - and I'm into everything they're throwing down, from their magical breakfast sandwiches to their gorgeous, generously-appointed salads. Yep, they're my lunchtime jam. I like SOMA Eats so much that I'm actually willing to eat lunch on the premises instead of ducking back to my office! I like you, no I really like you. read more

Five people walked in, five people ordered a salmon salad. Judging from other reviews of SE, it seems that such seems to be the overall case. I had every intention of getting a sandwich and going to town on some local, artisan bread... but I was reminded that my pants have been a bit tighter of late so I thought better of carbs* and went with protein and those odd, green, leaf-like things that grow out of the ground. With a popular location on 2nd, Soma Eats has the lunch rush down to a science. It has two lines from which to choose and military-like precision and efficiency when it comes to getting orders out of the door. Even if it seems like there's a long line (and, there probably *is* a long line), it moves incredibly quickly. Don't be intimidated. If you're not watching your diet, take advantage of the huge cooler of craft beers and artisan sodas. I spied it with a singular tear that rolled down my cheek. A lot of people pass through the doors but there's plenty of seating as well -- in case the idea of taking food to go just isn't palatable for you. So, salad. Yeah, salad. The salad (to go) comes in a convenient plastic bowl that allows you to salad shake (and get a good arm workout in). Shaking it like a polaroid nicely combines the salmon (baked), avocado, tomatoes, carrots, mixed greens, baby kale, and romaine. Don't leave out the creamy basil dressing. Salads without dressing are the saddest of the sad. Don't be sad(der). For something without fried skin, the salad was pretty dang tasty. I ate the whole thing and was pleasantly (not, painfully) full by the end. I was also very satisfied. I think I now understand why so many of these reviews talk effusively about the salmon salad. I get it. *I still ordered the dressing. I'm only human. read more

It's so nice to have a later(ish) night food option in the Financial District area. Especially one that carries Kombucha, Wild Salmon, and Avocado. Three of my favorite things at the moment. I really appreciate SOMA Eats' weekday happy hour - which is perfect for those looking to casually imbibe with friends without a hectic bar atmosphere. SOMA Eats is also great for those that may be working later at the office and who are looking for healthier food options in walking distance. If you're not a big bar person but want to meet up with some co-workers or friends in the neighborhood after work - come to SOMA Eats. They've got a diverse menu and some solid Happy Hour options when it comes to both food and beer and wine. They even have spirits for purchase - to take home. Trust. read more

SOMA Eats is a new-ish edition to the ever-getting-more-crowded landscape around the new tech hub forming in the area. It's close to Yelp HQ, which makes it an easy option for a quick lunch or breakfast. The setup is nice and open, with an order-at-the-counter process and appealing coolers full of beer, wine and also plenty of lunchtime-appropriate drinks. The menu is pretty straightforward, focusing mostly on salads and sandwiches, trending towards high-end. There's a lot of competition in this segment in the area, and SOMA Eats doesn't disappoint much on quality. My salad and soup were generous and tasty, but not as big as I'd get at Mixt or Split Bread. However I think they're catering to a more affluent crowd here. The joint gets packed at lunch, and we had to take our food to go (or we would have had to fight for a table). Breakfast is way more mellow here, and the menu is super limited. Coffee drinks and a few breakfast sandwiches, as well as some healthy granola style option. I'm on a low-carb thing so they were nice enough to accommodate by making me a breadless version of a sando with some extra egg. I won't judge that, since I went way off menu. Suffice to say that if you're not into sandwiches or granola, your best bet is to go elsewhere. Overall the service is solid, the pace is quick, the space has a nice atmosphere, with lighter wood tables and an upscale feel. I can definitely see myself coming back again when in town. As an aside, I'd like to see more non-sandwich-based breakfast options in this part of town. I always end up at grove when I want just eggs or just an omelet. That joint continues to kind of disappoint. Maybe these folks will throw a non-bready option on the menu? Glad to have it here tho. read more

I hate waiting in line. Thankfully the line at SOMA Eats moves quickly. And their food is worth the (short) wait. On my first visit I tried the BLT and zataar egg sandwich and yesterday I returned for the Indian-spiced turkey meatloaf sandwich. I'd order both again. All sandwiches come with a little side of chickpea salad too which is a nice touch. The salads also sound good especially the new Greek one. I wish they'd feature soup more prominently (it's been hard on both of my visits to figure out what the soup of the day is) and do a half sandwich/salad and soup combo. SOMA Eats has a lot more than just the midday meal, including lots of adult beverages of all kinds and some nice sounding breakfast options. It's now officially claimed a place in my "quick and near the office" lunch rotation. read more

Thanks to the time change when traveling to SF I can't seem to make it past 11am for lunch. Fortunately, during my last trip there I happened to be meeting with a colleague who was happy to indulge in an early lunch with me. Perhaps I should start eating at 11am back in Chicago because there was absolutely no line at SOMA Eats. I hear that's not so much the case at 12pm so get there early (or late!). The deviled egg sandwich was calling my name from the menu, but I opted for a slightly healthier option: The New Greek Salad. I will start off to say that the decor is great. They have a cooler where you can select your own drinks and a alcohol wall to buy bottles of different types of select alcohol. There was a rolling wall ladder to reach the bottles on the upper shelf. It reminded me of a library and made the restaurant feel sophisticated. The staff was really attentive and came around to check on their customers even though you orded at the counter. I had the croque madame sandwich which had egg, ham, and gruyere cheese for BK. I found the breakfast sandwich delish. For lunch, I had the slow roasted lamb. It was alright, the date almond relish was a little too sweet for my taste buds. However, I am not a sweet lover. A big group of us came here right before the lunch rush and had a fab experience. We didn't have to wait long for our orders despite our huge numbers, and the portions were so huge that I couldn't finish my salad - a rareity for me! The drink selection at SOMA Eats is enormous. I was a bit overwhelmed with choice, but decided I should maybe try some Kombucha while I had the opportunity. I also had a difficult time choosing what to eat. It all sounded so amazing! I settled on the greens, walnuts and dried cranberry salad and I can officially say that I will never taste a better salad. I wouldn't be mad if I ate that every day of my life! The ingredients were fresh and delicious, the walnuts gave an amazing crunch, and I even enjoyed the cranberries. (I don't usually like them) I loved the ambience. I've been here once for lunch in December and once for breakfast in January. Both times, I stopped in with my boss. He loves this place so much that I think he may be willing to write his first (?) Yelp review. Soma Eats seems to still be working out some of the kinks since they're so new, but I've enjoyed all of the offerings I've sampled thus far: - Breakfast burrito: compact, basic breakfast burrito with eggs, potato, peppadew pepper, and American cheese. It was luxe as far as breakfast burritos go, but the carnivore in me was pining for some additional meat. The red pepper was super flavorful, but felt like a rare treasure that only appeared after several bites. I wish the burrito was seasoned more heavily, but just be aware that they don't have ketchup; only sriracha. - Turkey meatloaf: they say it's Indian spiced, and it is indeed a unique meatloaf. A bit on the salty side for me. However, I'm glad I got this and swapped 1/2 my sandwich for the lamb sandwich. Worth trying once. - Slow roasted lamb sandwich on ciabatta: Very tender, delicious lamb. It was slightly sweet and a bit too salty for my taste, but I highly recommend. Of the menu items I've tried, this is the stand out. - They give you a little chickpea salad along with your sandwich. The people I came here with were happy with their salmon salads and pulled pork sandwich. Apparently, my boss has dreams about the oatmeal. Direct quote. Soma Eats got their liquor license, so in addition to the cornucopia of beer options (they probably have wine as well), you have your pick of fancy hard liquor. I understand that they want to showcase their impressive beer collection, but I feel like there's a lot of wasted seating space. The seating situation is very limited, so be sure not to come in with a big group. The utensils and water are self serve, but they do bring your food out to you. The space itself was awesome! It had great natural lighting, beautiful wood tables, and high ceilings. They had a nice menu, and a huge array of drink options. Unfortunately, I ordered the chicken noodle soup, which wasn't great. The soup was very oily and bland. It was a lot of broth with large chunks of carrot and not much else. Other people at my table had some great looking food, and said it was super yummy. So, I think I ordered the wrong thing. When I am back in San Fran I will have to go again and try something else! read more

This place is actually one of my go-to spots for lunch. Since I work in SF's FiDi, everything is always so packed during lunch time, but I truly appreciate this place for always being so fast. I normally order online to get the most out of my lunch breaks, but I've experienced fast service even when I don't order online. I recommend ordering online if you are on a time crunch, and I also recommend ordering the salmon salad. It's honestly suuuper delicious! read more

I just tried out this place for lunch and was very impressed! I got the roasted veggie salad, which was super filling and hearty. Great portion size and fresh ingredients. In general, the menu looks great and there are a lot of tasty lunch options from sandwiches and salads. The restaurant also has a lot of seating space and is a great lunch spot. I knocked down a star because the wait was super long during the lunch hour rush and it was way to hot inside the restaurant to wait for your food. I'd recommend coming before or after the lunch time rush if possible! read more

I've been to SOMA eats a few times now for lunch and dinner and have enjoyed every visit. They have a neat little menu with some instant favorites. I've had a couple of their salads and sandwiches and they've all been tasty. Also, super beautifully crafted for those of you who appreciate beautiful food pictures. *Pink-sweater-girl-raising-hand-emoji* Me! MENU Their Greens, Walnuts, & Dried Cranberry salad is a great option for you vegan eaters. I definitely felt full after eating it. I'm also in love with anything that has "green goddess dressing" and so their Salmon salad is a hit. Or if you are in a sando-mood, try the BLT. YUM!! SETTING It's cozy, much like the rest of SF. I like sitting near the regular-sized tables near the front windows. They also have bar seating. Lastly, they have cute little stumps in the back but I hate not having enough space for my bag/jacket so regular size table it is for me! Great for lunch and/or dinner :) Will be back for sure! You know you like a place when you're back again in the same week. To be honest, the first time I went I didn't quite get the hype. SOMA Eats is a beautiful spot with a lovely, modern interior, but I had to order the Roasted Vegetable Salad to understand my fellow coworkers' rave reviews. It was tasty, fresh and the roasted eggplant adds great flavor. We're not alone in loving this place as the line grows quickly during prime lunch hours. Go a little before and you'll be fine. I love this place and grab a drink here after work, before catching my train a bunch. But I can not stand an answer No when I ask for a half glass of wine. Why? The equation is simple, because you are a lazy server or do not care about customers? I asked for a half glass of wine after finishing my meal with a full glass. I had 10 minutes before I had to run and wanted that extra sip of wine. All you do is poor a half portion and ring in "open wine" + half price of a full glass. But a No is a wrong answer. Dang good salads with a San Francisco price tag! Tried this place out for lunch with coworkers and I have to say, it was delicious. I tried the baked salmon salad with green goddess dressing, which seems to be a Yelper favorite. Although this is a pretty basic salad, the dressing is killer and the salmon was baked perfectly. This made a great weekday lunch and would be fabulous with a glass of Pinot Gris for dinner. SOMA is pretty small and fills up fast, so we took our order to go. The vibe inside is clean and hip with an entire wall devoted to bottles of craft spirits (major plus). All in all, a rad little spot that I'd definitely try again next time I'm in town! read more

One of my new neighborhood favorites... The salads are not cheap but they are good and generally made with high-quality ingredients. Service is fast but the seats can get full quickly - if you actually want to eat at the restaurant, you should arrive just before noon. My order is the baked salmon salad with Greek goddess dressing. I add the side of chick peas that come with sandwiches and the Greek salad because they are delicious and should be added to just about everything. The salad is $13 and on the high end of what I like to pay for lunch but worth the splurge. The ingredients are generally high quality across the board except for the puzzling shredded carrots which add little but filler to the salad. I recently tried the Greek salad which was also good - a better variety of textures and flavors than the salmon salad but I still favor the salmon salad. read more

I pass by this restaurant every time I head to the Linkedin building to do some work in their public space. I preferably like to come in on Wednesday to celebrate making it through the middle of the week! 5 stars for having craft beer flights and superb customer service even during peak hours! Really disappointed. The lamb sandwich has flavor, but it's super dry. The pulled pork texture that comes with the lamb doesn't really fit the bread. At the price point, one would hope there would be more layers and dimensions to it, but even the texture of lamb is really lost with the way it's shredded. It's a extremely one dimensional dish with no other condiments - and gets dry fast. There's not some real sauce that binds it all together either. I do like that it comes with beans on the side, but you would expect a little more for $14-16 range for a sandwich alone. And salads are much better at Sweetgreens. Feels very much like a business that's more successful on branding and real estate location that appeals to yuppies than for the food itself. read more

The deviled egg sandwich... My God. It's like it was made from the hands of Jesus himself; so enjoyable! I love how they have the garbanzo on the side. So refreshing. I would have loved to get this sandwich for a co-worker to enjoy with me but she's a pescitarian so bacon wouldn't be a good idea for her; mind you I'm not a big bacon fan myself but it makes the sandwich devine. I came in for breakfast. Had their lovely oatmeal. My morning coffee was great. Unfortunately I wanted to sit down and that's where it got frustrating. Food is excellent but if you're staying you can't carry on a conversation because the music is so loud you can't barely hear the staff to order let alone have a conversation. blaring music not something you want in the morning while getting going. read more

Through a total coincidence I ended up coming here for both breakfast and lunch. The breakfast was a little bit disappointing, I had the smoked salmon breakfast sandwich. I can't pinpoint what I wasn't crazy about but it definitely just didn't hit the spot. HOWEVER, the lunch was OFF THE HOOK. I got the date and goat cheese salad and it was AMAZING. I would have preferred more dates, but there was tons of chicken and a mountain of goat cheese. The dressing was absolute perfection, it had just the right amount of spice and it came on the side so I could put as much on as I wanted, which was great because I didn't need much since it was so flavorful. I didn't personally partake but there was also a crazy extensive beer selection both bottled and on tap. It seems like the perfect spot for a lunch during the work week. I think I would've liked it more if the rice under was crisped from the stone plate. K tacos were okay. The fries that came with it were really good. Service was okay. We arrived at 6pm and there was plenty of seating, but by 7pm the place was pretty full.

SOMA Eats is an SSS (soup/sandwich/salad, as a fellow yelper has dubbed it) establishment in...you guessed it...SOMA. Its a big, airy space that has been recently renovated and just smells of boojey SF. If the refrigerators-filled-with-craft-beers-with-no-price-tags lined-walls weren't proof enough, the faux industrial decor and iPad cash registers are a dead giveaway. Come around lunchtime to see all of the usual SOMA/FiDi working crowd getting there lunch on out of the office. In spite of the air of pretense described above, SOMA Eats gets a solid four stars out of me for its excellent lunch options. My go-to is their salmon salad, its basically a garden salad along with a fistful of baked salmon. They also have an excellent meatloaf sandwich. Protip: if you're just grabbing something to-go, there's a separate cash register along the back wall for takeout orders that moves much quicker than the main one in front. read more

I love the green goddess salad here. It's way cheaper than the one from Sweet Greens and instead of steelhead its actually real salmon! (Which is more expensive) The wait times are also significantly shorter if you choose the grab and go option. Love this place for a quick lunch close to the workplace. read more

Decent sandwiches for the price but not anything special. The evening dinner menu is also a lot more expensive than the lunch menu even though the sandwiches are smaller, so definitely try to go early. I had the lamb sandwich which was nicely seasoned but the bread did not taste very fresh. read more
