Yummy in the tummy! If you're in the neighborhood and craving a salad or sandwich, then look no further. SOMA Eats has a great selection. My favorite menu items are the Baked Salmon Greek Goddess Salad and the Turkey Meatloaf Sandwich, depending on whether or not I want something healthy or more filling. The location is nice but can get busy. If you want to dine in, you probably want to come in right before rush hour. The line moves rather quickly though so don't let that scare you away. They have a bit of outdoor seating on the sidewalk, which is nice on a sunny day. Alas, like any other place around here, prices are pretty steep. read more

This place gets pretty crowded around lunch time but that's expected as it's a pretty convenient location near a lot of prominent offices. Overall, it's a nice place to get a healthier lunch including a salad, soup, or sandwich. I ordered the jerk chicken salad sandwich ($10.50) which was mediocre- there was a loooot of arugula but that was probably healthier for me in the long run, lol. We only had to wait around 10 minutes for our food to come, and as there were people coming and going I'd think it's not too difficult to find a place to sit either, although we decided to eat back at the office. I came here from a recommendation from a friend. She knows I've been eating healthier and mentioned that their salmon salad was amazing and super healthy. I ordered ahead through Yelp and the food was ready as soon as I got to the counter. While I didn't eat there, inside was super big, with high ceilings and had a few tables there. The salad was pretty big and average price for downtown sf. I noticed there was a lot of variety in the salad and the salmon piece was a huge portion. I loved the dressing that it came with. It went really well with the salmon. I normally dont like kale, but I actually really liked it in this salad. I would definitely recommend this place if you want to feel healthy and satisfied. This place is next to my office, and i go there every once in a while. The salads are bit on the expensive side, but hell its SF so everything here is expensive, but overall the salads are nice and fresh( what else does one want). Its a cool place, and its quite trendy. For some reason this place comes up every time, I mention that I just came back from San Francisco. People love this place. SOMA Eats is a basic deli/cafe with some above par lunch options. The place was crazy busy when I walked in so you may want to place your order online to avoid the wait. They offer both indoor and out seating options, but if possible, get your food to go and eat outside. There are great outdoor spots within a few blocks of this place. Need a little nip before back to work? They also have a decent beer and wine selection; you can order full bottles of wine or by the glass, all depending on how thirsty you are or how much you love or dislike your job. Going with a friend's suggestion, I ordered the Baked Salmon Green Goddess Salad, no joke this was delicious, but I wish I doubled down on the salmon. Came here for a healthy lunch based off the great reviews. Arrived at 12:45 and we skipped the lunch rush! The place had a cool and hipster vibe. We ordered a salmon salad and roasted vegetable salad, both were delivered to our table in less than 5 minutes - yay! Portions were huge, we both had plenty leftovers. I can't believe I missed reviewing this place when I was back from San Fran. Thanks Yelp for asking me to review places I have checked into. AWWW, now I am sad because it is cold outside and I want to be by the ocean. What an awesome little busy joint to come through for lunch. Literally all the feels when I reminisce about this place. The vibes were my favorite part. Bustling through a busy lunch hour with all different types of people in line to get food. The conversations were loud and everyone was so friendly. Now for the food. I had every intention of getting a sandwich and going to town on some local, artisan bread... but I was reminded that my pants have been a bit tighter of late so I thought better of carbs* and went with protein and those odd, green, leaf-like things that grow out of the ground. With a popular location on 2nd, Soma Eats has the lunch rush down to a science. It has two lines from which to choose and military-like precision and efficiency when it comes to getting orders out of the door. Even if it seems like there's a long line (and, there probably *is* a long line), it moves incredibly quickly. Don't be intimidated. If you're not watching your diet, take advantage of the huge cooler of craft beers and artisan sodas. I spied it with a singular tear that rolled down my cheek. I will start off to say that the decor is great. They have a cooler where you can select your own drinks and a alcohol wall to buy bottles of different types of select alcohol. There was a rolling wall ladder to reach the bottles on the upper shelf. It reminded me of a library and made the restaurant feel sophisticated. The staff was really attentive and came around to check on their customers even though you orded at the counter. I had the croque madame sandwich which had egg, ham, and gruyere cheese for BK. I just tried out this place for lunch and was very impressed! I got the roasted veggie salad, which was super filling and hearty. Great portion size and fresh ingredients. Dang good salads with a San Francisco price tag! Tried this place out for lunch with coworkers and I have to say, it was delicious. I tried the baked salmon salad with green goddess dressing, which seems to be a Yelper favorite. Although this is a pretty basic salad, the dressing is killer and the salmon was baked perfectly. This made a great weekday lunch and would be fabulous with a glass of Pinot Gris for dinner. SOMA is pretty small and fills up fast, so we took our order to go. Just be careful with order modifications, as they usually don't pay attention to those (especially if you order online!) Things move so fast here, that you reeeeally need to communicate any special preferences extra clearly. For example, I always ask for them to toss the dressing into my salad, instead of leaving in on the side. 4 out of 5 times they don't do this, so I have to send it back --- because integrated dressing is essential to salad satisfaction! After several visits, I can confidently say that I'm really digging the program at SOMA Eats. I'm a huge proponent of the 'grab and go' premise near my office for lunch... sitting down at a restaurant usually requires the hawk-eyeing of tables, which doesn't make for a soul-nourishing lunch experience. Really disappointed. The lamb sandwich has flavor, but it's super dry. The pulled pork texture that comes with the lamb doesn't really fit the bread. At the price point, one would hope there would be more layers and dimensions to it, but even the texture of lamb is really lost with the way it's shredded. It's a extremely one dimensional dish with no other condiments - and gets dry fast. There's not some real sauce that binds it all together either. I do like that it comes with beans on the side, but you would expect a little more for $14-16 range for a sandwich alone. And salads are much better at Sweetgreens. SOMA Eats is a new-ish edition to the ever-getting-more-crowded landscape around the new tech hub forming in the area. It's close to Yelp HQ, which makes it an easy option for a quick lunch or breakfast. The setup is nice and open, with an order-at-the-counter process and appealing coolers full of beer, wine and also plenty of lunchtime-appropriate drinks. The menu is pretty straightforward, focusing mostly on salads and sandwiches, trending towards high-end. There's a lot of competition in this segment in the area, and SOMA Eats doesn't disappoint much on quality. My salad and soup were generous and tasty, but not as big as I'd get at Mixt or Split Bread. However I think they're catering to a more affluent crowd here. The joint gets packed at lunch, and we had to take our food to go (or we would have had to fight for a table). Breakfast is way more mellow here, and the menu is super limited. Coffee drinks and a few breakfast sandwiches, as well as some healthy granola style option. I'm on a low-carb thing so they were nice enough to accommodate by making me a breadless version of a sando with some extra egg. I won't judge that, since I went way off menu. Suffice to say that if you're not into sandwiches or granola, your best bet is to go elsewhere. Overall the service is solid, the pace is quick, the space has a nice atmosphere, with lighter wood tables and an upscale feel. I can definitely see myself coming back again when in town. As an aside, I'd like to see more non-sandwich-based breakfast options in this part of town. I always end up at grove when I want just eggs or just an omelet. All sandwiches come with a little side of chickpea salad too which is a nice touch. The salads also sound good especially the new Greek one. Through a total coincidence I ended up coming here for both breakfast and lunch. The breakfast was a little bit disappointing, I had the smoked salmon breakfast sandwich. I can't pinpoint what I wasn't crazy about but it definitely just didn't hit the spot. HOWEVER, the lunch was OFF THE HOOK. I got the date and goat cheese salad and it was AMAZING. I would have preferred more dates, but there was tons of chicken and a mountain of goat cheese. It was luxe as far as breakfast burritos go, but the carnivore in me was pining for some additional meat. The red pepper was super flavorful, but felt like a rare treasure that only appeared after several bites. I wish the burrito was seasoned more heavily, but just be aware that they don't have ketchup; only sriracha. - Turkey meatloaf: they say it's Indian spiced, and it is indeed a unique meatloaf. A bit on the salty side for me. However, I'm glad I got this and swapped 1/2 my sandwich for the lamb sandwich. Worth trying once. - Slow roasted lamb sandwich on ciabatta: Very tender, delicious lamb. It was slightly sweet and a bit too salty for my taste, but I highly recommend. Of the menu items I've tried, this is the stand out. - They give you a little chickpea salad along with your sandwich. The people I came here with were happy with their salmon salads and pulled pork sandwich. Apparently, my boss has dreams about the oatmeal. Direct quote. You know you like a place when you're back again in the same week. To be honest, the first time I went I didn't quite get the hype. SOMA Eats is a beautiful spot with a lovely, modern interior, but I had to order the Roasted Vegetable Salad to understand my fellow coworkers' rave reviews. It was tasty, fresh and the roasted eggplant adds great flavor. We're not alone in loving this place as the line grows quickly during prime lunch hours. Go a little before and you'll be fine. Ended up in SOMA after Sweetgreen down the road didn't have a working oven and therefore no protein options whatsover and I'm so glad to have gone outside of my box while visiting San Fran. Had an awesome salmon salad here that was a great portion. Lots of great beer options, both for purchase inside and also to take with you. And of course, the wine selections, too are off the hook (do people still say that?!). Either way, great to go if you need something fast casual but want something hearty, too. One of my new neighborhood favorites... The salads are not cheap but they are good and generally made with high-quality ingredients. Service is fast but the seats can get full quickly - if you actually want to eat at the restaurant, you should arrive just before noon. My order is the baked salmon salad with Greek goddess dressing. I add the side of chick peas that come with sandwiches and the Greek salad because they are delicious and should be added to just about everything. The salad is $13 and on the high end of what I like to pay for lunch but worth the splurge. The ingredients are generally high quality across the board except for the puzzling shredded carrots which add little but filler to the salad. I recently tried the Greek salad which was also good - a better variety of textures and flavors than the salmon salad but I still favor the salmon salad. read more

I pass by this restaurant every time I head to the Linkedin building to do some work in their public space. I preferably like to come in on Wednesday to celebrate making it through the middle of the week! 5 stars for having craft beer flights and superb customer service even during peak hours! I also enjoy the music they have playing whenever I come in when I am feeling a little thirst for beer. read more
