I've worked in the area for the past 2 years and only now have I come across this sandwich place by word of mouth. It's fast casual, line up and the find an open place to sit to eat. The line gets long at the noon rush, but moves quickly. Easy to walk right past because first glance it looks like a wine bar and I had no idea they served food (soups, salads and sandwiches). Walk up to the counter and place your sandwich order--they'll call you when it's ready. I ordered the pulled pork on a ciabatta and while it doesn't look like much, it is packed with meat and I wasn't even able to finish the sandwich; half was very filling and tasted great. The prices are reasonable for the area.

Since working remotely there have been two San Francisco lunch spots that I have missed and SOMA Eats is one of them. They have a limited menu but what they have has been consistently great. My all time favorite is the Baked Salmon Green Goddess Salad. The Salmon is seasoned and cooked perfectly and the salad is flavorful and satisfying. The service from the staff has always been top notch. I was recently back in the office and brought a co-worker for lunch and it was as good as I always remembered. They also have a really awesome beer selection. If you are in the area you definitely need to check it out.

Stopped here for a casual lunch on a weekday with a friend and had a pretty good experience. I got an Asian salad with grilled shrimp, blood orange, pickled onions, edamame, avocado, and greens. All the ingredients tasted super fresh and came together very well. A bit pricey than what I would have liked, but this is downtown SF and the ambience was nice even though it's a fast-casual place, so no complaints.

I ordered the vegetarian eggplant sandwich this time which was not up to the mark - it was good but not the best, I felt like it was loaded which vegetables but was missing some dressing which would make it phenomenal. But, I enjoyed it. And, the lentil protein bowl here is delicious if you haven't tried.

Great place to grab a quick bite to eat for breakfast or lunch. You can grab & go or order in front and eat in. You'll usually get a seat quickly. Favorite: TURKEY MEATLOAF SANDWICH, $10.95 Indian-spiced turkey meatloaf with Peppadew peppers and arugula, spiced garlic aioli spread on toasted ciabatta. Delicious bread (toasty & easy to bite into). There's a hint of spiciness. The meatloaf is incredibly moist and rich in flavor. Such a great sandwich! You should get this with their soup of the day. This meal tastes 10x better during the winter. It'll definitely warm you up!

Fresh food + clean and trendy space = great lunch. SOMA seemed to be the go-to spot for all the business folk on their lunch hour. It was packed and had pretty limited seating, yet somehow my big group managed to move through the line quickly and all find seats together at the bar. Their menu was packed but not overwhelming. There is easily something for everyone. I normally wouldn't get salmon at a grab and go lunch spot (it is usually just overcooked and nothing special) but this place seemed like one to trust. I got the Baked Salmon Greek Goddess Salad. Both the name and the dish were equally a mouthful. It came on a bed of romaine with shredded carrots, cherry tomatoes, sliced cucumber and fresh avocado. The salmon was wonderful and cooked just perfectly. The dressing came in a little dish on the side and was a little creamier than I would normally opt for but nonetheless, made for a tasty salad. The only thing I would have liked is if the salad actually came chopped and mixed, with the salmon on the top, as opposed to everything in piles on top of the romaine. It makes for an awkward meal, having to cut and mix your own salad in a bowl that isn't very convenient for the task. It's a little thing, not a huge deal at all. And to be honest, the staff was so nice and accommodating that if I asked them to do this, I am very sure they would have. Next time I stop in, I'll have to remember to do so. I always would rather sit at a table so it's easy to talk to everyone rather than a bar but Wednesday 12:00 in Fidi, beggars can't be choosers. This was definitely not a bad option at all. The bar was beautiful and clean and you weren't bumping elbows with the person next to you. It was a great meal at a good price and next time I am in town, it will be in my rotation for lunch spots for sure.

I love this place! My friend recommended it a couple years back and I've been going ever since. It's your daily salad, sandwich, soup, chocolate chip cookie kinda place but amped up with the whole sustainable product kick. I always got their salmon goddess salad which is super fresh but now they have hot bowls! I love their chicken pomegranate bowl with carrot slaw, spinach, couscous, and of course a couple of pomegranates for decoration Yum!

YUM. SOMA is the main stomping grounds for lunch for all corporate offices in a five mile radius of Downtown San Fran. Since most seating is typically packed with fellow lunch-goers, this is the perfect spot for a quick grab-and-go. SOMA has limited seating, quick service, and an assortment of trendy + health conscious beverages. For example, one of my coworkers ordered blue Mermaid Lemonade! For my meal I ordered the Spicy Pulled Pork Sandwich, and removed the spicy coleslaw since I'm a huge wuss. The sandwich was served on a fluffy ciabatta bun with juicy pulled pork. Unfortunately, since I removed the coleslaw, the sandwich was slightly dry (my fault), so I added a little bit of their salad dressing. This addition made the meal delicious and I would love to return in the future to try a few more menu options.

SOMA eats is one of my go-to lunch spots in this area. I always get a salad here because the New Greek Salad and Greek Goddess Salads are solid. Portion sizes are also pretty big. Pro-tip: you can replace the salmon in the Green Goddess Salad with pork, meatloaf, or lamb. They offer a wide variety of salads, sandwiches, and beers. Great spot for a healthy-ish lunch. Beware though as it gets super packed during lunch rush so you might want to beat it if you plan on dining in. Also a big fan of their cookies, it's delish!

I went there on a Friday noon. Ambience was modern and spacious. It was busy during lunch time, but they took order and served quickly. I ordered roasted turkey sandwich and I enjoyed the meal. It was flavourful with good portion of meat. Note that if you eat light, you might not enjoy it because this is a heavy sandwich. read more

Went here with a friend for lunch the other day around noon and it was very busy. The line moved quickly but there weren't a lot of seats open, definitely would recommend looking at a time to avoid the rush. I got the salad with walnuts, cranberries and goat cheese and thought it was really good. It was a HUGE portion, the only thing I would have preferred the goat cheese to be sprinkled on top and not just one lump because it was somewhat difficult to get a little in each bite. read more

Stopped in for lunch on a Friday... the line was long, but watching the plates head to the tables, I could tell it would be worth it. The line moved quickly, and when I finally ordered, the staff were awesomely nice! WIN! I ordered the Spinach, Date and Goat Cheese Salad, which was so amazing and delicious! It was the right amount of dressing, and every ingredient was very fresh! The salad was SO LARGE, that we should've shared, BUT I ended up eating the entire thing because, WHY NOT?!, it was DELICIOUS! I also ordered a beer, and I really appreciate their selection, and since this was the 2nd time I'd been there, I did notice they switch their beer list. You can buy wine and beer to-go, or drink it there, but I encourage you to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere with a great dish, and a well-paired adult beverage. read more

A bit pricey, but had an awesome meal during my lunch break! The red pepper soup was vegan, and a coup of it was extremely tasty, especially with the crunchy bread. Along with the soup I had the roasted vegetable salad, which was very good! I liked the eggplant a lot, as well as the mustard dressing. I had it without cheese to keep it vegan. Overall, great meal and fast service. Limited seating. read more

Great food and friendly staff. The breakfast menu is amazing. The spiced breakfast burrito is very balanced and flavorful, the peppadew adds a nice twist to perfectly cooked eggs and spiced potatoes. It is very filling. I also had the steel cut oatmeal which is very very nice topped with amazing granola. They also have a great lunch menu, the meatloaf is my favorite, but if you were in the mood for a cold sandwich I recommend the jerk chicken sandwich. read more

Great new addition to the SOMA neighborhood. I've now had breakfast, lunch and happy hour here, and haven't been disappointed. Friendly staff and I like the open layout. Solid sandwiches -- can't go wrong with turkey meatloaf -- and tasty craft beers on draft, like Ballast Point Sculpin IPA. And an impressive cooler of bottled beers to take home. read more

SOMA Eats does not accommodate dietary restrictions. I asked for a sandwich without bacon and the cashier responded with a flat out "no." I've worked in the food industry and I completely understand that they probably pre-make a lot of their menu and that they may be trying to prevent customers from making a ton of special requests, but their reaction doesn't sit well with me. I don't think that leaving off a single item is unreasonable, especially considering that it's bacon. There are plenty of reasons why a person may not eat bacon, whether it be for religious beliefs, heath restrictions, or personal ethics. read more

I'm currently shoveling a really fantastic green goddess salad with salmon into my hangry food-hole. Ordering online and picking up in restaurant is super easy. The salad is plenty big enough to be a filling lunch, without being excessive. The salmon is so good I want to take it home, introduce it to my parents, and marry it. read more

I agree with some of the other reviews that this is kind of a weird place. I work in the neighborhood and was keenly anticipating its opening but it was not at all what I expected it to be. They are trying too hard and yes they have seemingly "fancy" sandwiches etc. however the food is not yet up to San Francisco standards for the price. Also, I think this place would do well to fill some of their many accessible refrigerators with gourmet grab-and-go lunches opposed to just all alchol. The places is set up like a lunch spot but also trying to be a trendy bar but the combination isn't working. There are plenty of other bars in the area that most people would rather go to after work instead of having a beer at the same place they ran into to grab their sandwich for lunch. Overall it has potential but the concept and menu still need tweaking. read more

I was told the turkey meatloaf was "the best in the world." It just might be, seriously. It had a little spice to it and Mediterranean seasoning, it was out of this world. The presentation was nice; it was served on a fancy wooden cutting board. It had a small side of some healthy looking green "bean" served with it. The place was clean, service was quick and good. Nice atmosphere. I didn't pay for my lunch but had I, the S.F. pricing was very reasonable. They have a huge alcohol selection too but I was on work time so I pretended not to notice it. I will go back if I'm in the area to have that meatloaf again. My mouth is watering as I type this. read more

I usually get a synergy kombucha - they are the only place in the fidi that sells the dark bottles and my favorite flavor which is 'divine grape'. So that makes me happy They also have great breakfast items - my favorite is the spiced breakfast burrito. It's not very spicy but it is very delicious. They have a great ambience and an amazing selection of beer and wine. read more

One of my favorite lunch spots for really good quality healthy lunch. I really like the salads, all fresh and big portioned. My favorite is the Spinach, chicken and goat cheese. The problem with a lot of my work being based on the east coast is that I often spend a significant portion of the AM and early afternoon on calls or trying to finish stuff up before east coasters are going home. This poses lunch challenges bc a lot of places in FIDI close around 2 or 2:30.. Luckily SOMA Eats is open all throughout the day and that pulled pork sandwich is super dope. Also, I like the airy vibe and you can choose to stand if you want! read more

I really loved this place! We had the BLT with zaatar egg sandwich, jerk chicken salad sandwich and the Greek salad and they were all delicious! Their coffee is amazing and service is fantastic! They have a good selection of wine & beer in a mini market style area which is pretty cool. read more

I had a horrible experience after leaving the place. We got to the place around 6pm last Friday, ordered some drinks and snacks before our friends arrived. Around 7pm, we decided to grab a lamb sandwich to get the dinner over with. Unfortunately, they ran out so the server recommended Indian spiced meatloaf, which turns out to be a BIG mistake. My stomach goes well with Indian food usually but not that night. Not only the meatloaf sandwich didn't taste great, the spice was in my stomach all night! At 4am, I got up with painful stomach pain. At 5am, I started vomiting which lasted the entire day. At noon, diarrhea caught up. 3 days later, no more vomiting but diarrhea persisted. I regretted of not speaking up since I wanted to tell the server that I preferred pork over meatloaf but was lazy to line up again. Besides, I am still puzzled why SOMA Eats never refunded us $3 difference since meatloaf is $3 cheaper than lamb. My advise to you all, the place is nice and fun. Do order drinks since they should be safe but be careful with food choices since the meatloaf experience reminds me of bad hamburger meat incidents that you see once in a while on papers. Not sure when I will go back again and hopefully the place do improve. read more

Both sandwiches were $21 which is pretty expensive even for Bay Area standards and I didn't even know how much it would cost since there are no prices listed anywhere in the store. I haven't been to all the sandwich places in the area but for the same sizes, Little Lucca in Burlingame is $5-8 cheaper for similar sandwiches and they have a lot more meat. Unfortunately there are too many better sandwich places in the Bay Area to come back here.

SOMA Eats is an SSS (soup/sandwich/salad, as a fellow yelper has dubbed it) establishment in...you guessed it...SOMA. Its a big, airy space that has been recently renovated and just smells of boojey SF. If the refrigerators-filled-with-craft-beers-with-no-price-tags lined-walls weren't proof enough, the faux industrial decor and iPad cash registers are a dead giveaway. Come around lunchtime to see all of the usual SOMA/FiDi working crowd getting there lunch on out of the office. In spite of the air of pretense described above, SOMA Eats gets a solid four stars out of me for its excellent lunch options. My go-to is their salmon salad, its basically a garden salad along with a fistful of baked salmon. They also have an excellent meatloaf sandwich. Protip: if you're just grabbing something to-go, there's a separate cash register along the back wall for takeout orders that moves much quicker than the main one in front. read more

I love the green goddess salad here. It's way cheaper than the one from Sweet Greens and instead of steelhead its actually real salmon! (Which is more expensive) The wait times are also significantly shorter if you choose the grab and go option. Love this place for a quick lunch close to the workplace. read more

Decent sandwiches for the price but not anything special. The evening dinner menu is also a lot more expensive than the lunch menu even though the sandwiches are smaller, so definitely try to go early. I had the lamb sandwich which was nicely seasoned but the bread did not taste very fresh. read more
