He provided great service through the whole meal. We started with martinis, they have a great cocktail program. I ordered a dirty martini with blue cheese olives and it was perfect, and strong. We also opted to try the Oyster Shooter, how fun! It was an oyster served with a little shot of gin with cucumber. The shot was sweeter than I expected, but I simply had to try it. We probably didn't need an appetizer, but luckily the Bao buns were the perfect size for two. The Korean fried chicken was crisp and moist and coated with a thick sweet and spicy sauce. It definitely had some heat, but it was a nice heat. The peanuts and cilantro paired great with the buns. Besides the menu, they had a number of specials for the evening, so keep your options open. We did decide to stick to the menu though. I ordered the signature duck and my sister ordered the porcini ravioli. The duck dish was stunning, I couldn't take enough photos of it, and the taste blew me away. The duck was so crispy and tender, the fatty flavor reminds you of a holiday. The carrot puree, potatoes, greens and cherries added complexity and balance to the plate. I never finish my dinner, and I ate every morsel on this plate. The porcini ravioli was no different, it was incredible. The thick creamy sauce had so much flavor we were trying to guess what was in it. It was so rich and dreamy and the additional of walnuts was a fun crunch. If you love mushrooms, get this. We loved this meal, and I will rave about it. I walked in with no reservations. I noticed the space is very large with multiple dining rooms. I'm tired, I asked for a table close to the open kitchen. Once seated, I'm given a large, leather menu. There are lots of great entree choices but after I review all the selections, I'm going with the SK Bistro Burger. The entree also has a wine pairing suggestion, a Cabernet Sauvignon. We arrived early and were seated promptly; water was poured before we even had napkins on laps. This surprised me, as reviews indicated that service could be slow and this was a holiday. But this started a constant service of someone checking in on us every 2-3 minutes (I am prone to exaggeration for a good story, but I assure you this was true. I kept checking my watch to confirm). We put in an appetizer order (deviled eggs) that was served within a minute or two. These were well seasoned and tasty, ice cold from the refrigerator. It's not that they didn't taste fresh, but they were served to us so quickly that I know that they were prepared well in advance and only the warm pork belly was recently prepped. Our meals were served as the appetizer was finished (I was still chewing). At this point, we were 10 minutes into our seating. Our meals included steak and eggs, which I incorrectly assumed would require a little bit more time. Not true! Our plates arrived, piping hot and tasty enough...but boy did we feel rushed. Our server, the manager, bussers, and other attendants stopped by our table every few minutes. I recognize this was a holiday, but there was not a steady stream of people coming through the doors and plenty of open tables were available. Our conversation was repeatedly interrupted with these check-ins and we all took great care to eat the meal as slowly as possibly to stretch things out. At this point we were on track to be out the door in 30 minutes. As a table we made a decision to order dessert and we were able to savor and dawdle long enough to get us to one hour. $180 later, we finished our Easter visit out in the parking lot where no one was pushing us out. (I will note that several families arrived after us and completed their meals in 30ish minutes. What's special about brunch when it's that rushed?) I wish I could review the food better, but my taste buds hardly had time to register the experience. I made reservations so we were seated immediately. There was almost no overhead lighting- instead, most of the restaurant was lit by downward-lighting lamps at each table. Each table had a jar of flowers which added nice color to the environment; it was woodsy, but not in the polished, laminated sense. It felt more natural, cabin-like, combining well with the shrubbery, paintings with big frames, natural lighting from windows, and giant mirrors. The place was small, packed, and loud with people and background music. That's my only minor complaint; it was quite loud from all the people and everything was tight together, and I think the music was good, but would be even better with some more abstract, atmospheric score. This isn't the place to watch the game; there's no TV's. But it is the place to order a fancy cocktail or a Banana Bread Old Fashioned. And there is a bar. THE SERVICE I happened to know our waitress from high school on accident and she was wonderful. We were checked up on frequently, our food arrived fast, and the conversation was enjoyable. THE FOOD I ordered the Mickey's Riggies, a Rigatoni dish in marinara sauce mixed with peppers, chicken, mushroom, and Parmesan cheese. Flawless. My friend & I also got Bavarian Pretzel sticks as our starter and man, that buffalo sauce was good. Costed $60 without tip. THE BATHROOM My design professor once said if you want to understand the personality of a restaurant, check out its bathroom. Well, that didn't really apply to this place. The men's bathroom was a little jank, unlike the great atmosphere of the restaurant itself. It wasn't disgusting, just a little jank. I happened to see a notification on social media that they were doing $1 oysters and immediately jumped online and grabbed a 5:30 reservation! If you've never been to Emry's Garden, you're missing out on the cutest little space! It's absolutely beautiful, filled with greenery, quaint décor, and so many cozy touches. It has such a warm, inviting feeling the minute you walk in. They also had live music that night , so the patio was definitely bumping! We were seated right away and our drink order was taken quickly. We started with a dozen oysters and the Ahi tuna appetizer. The tuna was very similar to an ahi tuna nacho--and WOW! Absolutely delicious and something I will 100% be ordering again! We were a little disappointed that they didn't have mignonette for the oysters, but honestly, the oysters were still completely delicious! By the time we were ready to order another dozen, we were told they were sold out. But honestly, I wasn't surprised--the restaurant was packed and it seemed like every table was enjoying those $1 oysters! Our server was very sweet , although the service was a little slow. I'm guessing that had a lot to do with how busy the restaurant was that evening. Oyster lovers, take my advice: Order more than a dozen right away! But good Mexican food is hard to find nearby, so I headed over there tonight with a few friends for dinner. The staff at Grand Margaritas were all extremely welcoming, courteous and friendly. Our waitress, Dayana , was cheerful and helpful. Our first decision was drinks; we normally order a pitcher. Fortunately the restaurant offers a variety of non-frozen Margaritas, and we had some trouble deciding on which to choose. The Tamarind sounded good; and Dayana offered to bring us a sample round. Nice! Having settled on the drinks we turned our attention to the menu which offered a nice set of choices. We started out with the Guacamole Grande for $16. It was a generous portion of guac, flavored with onions and tomatoes. It was delicious and was plenty for the four of us to share. I ordered Tour de Mexico for $26. This was a combination dish with a Chili Releno, a beef tamale, a chicken chimichanga, a beef burrito, a chicken enchiladas, a crispy beef taco and sides of Mexican rice and refried beans. The meal was delivered to the table on two heaping plates and easily enough for two people. Each item was delicious; nothing disappointed! One of our group the Three Mariachis, which included a generous serving of ribeye steak, chorizo sausage, served with pico de gallo, tortillas and sides of refried beans and Mexican rice. All for $28. I tasted the steak which was well marinated and grilled. It was excellent. With a pitcher of excellent Margaritas, appetizer for the table and 4 entrees, our tab came to about $178 total. Everyone enjoyed their meals, and the experience as a whole was great. We both ordered our go-to litmus test entrees when trying a new Mexican restaurant. I had enchilada plate (4 enchi's, ground beef, steak, chicken, and cheese). The ground beef filling was good, the steak was ok but underwhelming, the cheese tasted like processed cheese wiz, and the chicken was ok but under seasoned. Worst part was the tortillas were not prepared at all - not seasoned, fried, or anything. Just corn tortillas out of the package wrapped loosely around the filling. They fell apart quickly due to the moisture in the filling. Wife had Chili Renos. They tasted pre-made and previously frozen. The batter was soggy, the peppers were mushy and the red sauce tasted like canned. The meal came out within a few minutes so this supports the notion that it was already prepared. Interesting atmosphere - there were about 20 people taking line dancing lessons in the bigger room in the back. Overall, would not recommend for food, but could be fun for younger crowd, drinks, and dancing.
