Here's the deal. My buddy was turning even older. So why wouldn't we go grab Das Boot? I mean a free 40 oz of good German draft beer? No peanuts but the service was really good. The bartender is always super nice and attentive. Place was clean. Bathrooms need a remodel but they were clean. Sat at a table, used their "scan here" to order a Weißwurst and chicken schnitze sandwich for my partner. long wait for the food aside, the biggest issue was when it came out, I instead received chorizo. when I told the server "I ordered Weißwurst ", he told me "well, the ticket said chorizo and we are back ordered on weißwurst at the moment". I like a place whose decor includes "excessive amounts of peanuts." Oh, and the beer selection, food, and pub games (darts, yay!) go a long way as well to increase the enjoyment factor. I was a little miffed that the server who brought us some food tipped over my beer glass, and all I got from it was a "Hey, sorry, man," especially for a more expensive pour, but the bartender was nice enough to give me as much of a refill as I requested. Had a wonderful afternoon at Wolff's Biergarten. Enjoyed the chicken schnitzel very much. The bartender, Derek, was attentive and friendly. This Wolff's location gets props for having its own parking. Going to Wolff's on your birthday is a right of passage for those in the Cap. I have gotten the boot at least 4 times, usually at the Alb location, and the Biergarten is a great place to meet with friends. The owner was cleaning the tables and dropped off a baby's bottle. A patron was carving on a table while he was talking to them. That propels my uncle (white) to do the same "on the already curved/ tagged table." Then passed it over to me to do the same. I didn't even get a chance to. The owner stated you can not write on it. (Please note: If the table wasn't already curved and it wasn't perceived as welcoming to do so, I would never attempt it.) So my aunt went up to him and asked why u didn't say anything to the people who were doing it in your face or my husband. He stated, "It's my shop." It was indeed, so we left. Note to the owner: Allowing certain groups to do something in your "shop" while excluding others can create a sense of division and unfairness. The bar is long with many taps and three sizes for the beer: .3L, .5L, and 1L. There is also a boot if you want to try your hand at guzzling and beating the record. All their beers are legit, their prices are more than acceptable, the overall atmosphere is just fantastic. Not the place for food, but who cares. After being let go through a text message, and then reaching out to the owner himself only to have my phone call ignored. Then my text messages blocked after he was very rude to me. I used to love this bar until the blonde bartender. Not only did he tell me that he hooked up with multiple girls I know, but he told them they needed "s** lessons". This is a cute place to hang out at occasionally. Obviously it has a trendy, fun aesthetic that can appeal across demographics. I'm personally not a huge fan of their beer lineup, and I wish they would get Nine Pin on their roster as it's local. They have Citizen Cider, which is fine, but not my preference. In Albany, I wouldn't bother to go to Wolff's. In Schenectady, it's a much more appealing option due to a lack of better alternatives. There's a lot more parking at this location than in Albany but the food is limited to just smaller dishes and plates. Perfect place to watch the Patriots play on a Sunday afternoon. It's a classic German Biergarten. I think it's exactly what they say it is. Too me it's a man cave of sorts . I feel like it's a big boys club house. Throw those shells on the floor. I love this place. I've been to the Syracuse and Schenectady locations and they're both great. Great beer in huge sizes, outdoor seating for the summer and all the peanuts you can eat.
