Fun place for a drink. Very nice crew and cold beer on tap with darts and games as well.

I was super excited to try this place out and ended up super disappointed. We had a burger/burnt, wings/greasy, Mac and cheese bites/dry and not tasty, potato pancake/to much rosemary!! chicken tenders/only good thing. I get that its supposed to be like a fun hang out place with the peanuts on the floor and such but the tables look and feel like they have never been washed. The bathroom smells like a horse stable and the stall I went in had a broken lock and it was a fight to get toilet paper:/. The guy that took our order was staring at his phone when we walked up to window, and when he delivered food, there was no sauces with anything! This review is for just hanging out and drinking beer, did not eat any food. I will have to say, I really enjoyed my time at this Biergarten. The staff working the bar was friendly and helpful when picking out a beer. A lot of great German and Belgium beers on tap. They let me sample some before picking one out. I had a delicious Belgium quad that was perfectly poured from the tap. The place is a pretty good size and wasn't overly crowded, so I felt comfortable hanging with friends and enjoying my tasty quad. They have a couple of dart boards as well. read more

The atmosphere is pretty fun - plenty of large TVs, darts, open picnic tables, very casual. Be aware the food options are extremely limited if you are a vegetarian, they only take cash, and if you are allergic to peanuts, stay away. read more

Biergarten is our go to spot when my boyfriend and I want to go out to drink. Their German beers are very cheap compared to other bars, but their food menu is pricy. They also have darts games, giant jenga, pool, flatscreen TVs, etc for entertainment. I've always had a great time drinking at biergarten, highly recommend! read more

When I came in, the guy at the window said, "We're not really a restaurant." No...no, they are not. At 1 pm on a Sunday approximately half the items on the menu were unavailable, including several kinds of sausage. The sausage and pretzel sticks were above average, but do you really want to eat at a picnic table in a garage, with a German Shepherd running around unleashed? Rustic can be fun, but not when it's just an excuse to be a dump. I would not come back to this place sober. read more

This review is based solely on the experience my friends and I had on the night of 6/22/17. There were two bar tenders, one looked like he had just turned 21 who only waited on girls that were his age, the other was the biggest asshole I've ever encountered. My friends and I came in, hit the ATM, went to the bar. Obviously the baby bartender didn't acknowledge us, so that left the other. It took us about 20 minutes to get service and it was not, by any stretch of the imagination, busy for this place. I asked for the largest beers and was given the smallest. My friend has a card for the beers and was thrown the box and told "have fun." My other friend, who was paying separately, wasn't acknowledged for another 10 minutes. He turned to me to ask the name of my beer and in that time, the asshole bartender walked away. My friend was like really? And the guys says "Yeah, really. Don't get my attention and not know what you want." SERIOUSLY DUDE??? You're in the service business! The guy proceeds to pour the beer, all the while talking crap to my friend. When he slides the glass across the bar it is 1/3 head. The foam is pouring out all over the bar and the floor. $13 for that! It was that douchey behavior that prompted me to take back the tip I had left on the bar for our less than impressive service. I usually don't mind the biergarten, it's not my favorite place, but it's okay. This experience, however, has left me feeling less than enthused to ever come back. read more

Let me start this off as I don't like beer. But I am pleased to announce they do have nine pin cider on tap. It's a classic beer garden with long picnic like tables to sit at. They serve brats and the like although I was too thirsty to enjoy any food. The staff was friendly for the most part but nothing from my experiences there stand out. The bar itself is pretty good, definitely a little pricy but the atmosphere and bartenders are the best. However, under no circumstances should you order food here. We went for breakfast and when we tried to order, we were told it's too busy and they would tell us when we could place our orders. 15 minutes later, the chef served a party of EIGHT people before telling us. When we then asked him about the situation he became confrontational and told us he was just trying to serve everyone. This would all be a minor blip if the food was even mediocre. I ordered the Belgian Breakfast and paid $12 for one scrambled egg, what amounted to an Eggo waffle, and two overcooked pieces of bacon. I will still go for a drink, but would absolutely never order food here again. read more

Do to the way three of my friends, employees, clients and I on separate occasions see the daytime bartender Michael Ferguson treats customer's at the Schenectady location on a daily bases with his rude, disrespectful, and antagonistic attitude, I may have to find a new place to spend my $$$ unless he has major additude or career change. I was planning on taking my girlfriend and 15 of her friends there for her birthday next weekend but after my girlfriend witnessed his behavior she wants to go to the Rusty Nail and will never give another penny to that place do to the fact of how uncomfortable Michael made her feel. All because he has a personal problem. He has refuses to serve 2 gentlemen 1-of which is a marine vet and another that works for the city and myself. It has also gone as far as him blatantly giving the gentleman sitting next to me an additude because he thought he was with me this friday. That man was waiting for his coworkers to arrive because they all work as iron workers on the casino. I have the upmost respect the owners Matt, Mark, management Steve and Sam and all other staff and they all treat me like friend. I have been a loyal customer for the past four years and I've never treated anybody there with any disrespect not even Michael but yet this is how I'm treated by an employee who is constantly miserable , clearly does not like his job nor does he respect the professional manner he should maintain. He is poorly representing a great business and is very much disrespectful to how the owners want they're establishment to be perceived. I will change my star rating based on the outcome of this situation along with the others that have been humiliated by his actions. read more

This is a GREAT laid back place! Don't get me wrong it definitely gets busy. They have a great beer selection and the guys at the bar are always nice. Hey have darts and a shuffle board as well as one more game that has a hook. I can't think of it. They were very limited to food but I believe that issue has been resolved, but don't quote me. You can get the boot for your birthday They'll hold $40 and they'll return it once you're done in the event the glass breaks. They also have a birthday bar crawl at the end you receive a t-shirt. Definitely one of the best bars in Schenectady! Spent many nights here as my friends all did the birthday tour (Bombers Margarita + Boot at Biergarten gets you a free shirt) and overall it's a pretty cool place to play darts, shuffleboard and the occasional jenga. Parking is limited but you can park across the street and there is plenty of street parking. There's also an unlimited amount of peanuts that go along great with the vast beer selection. If you like beer and live around the area, I'd definitely get the Wolf Pack card they offer! They sign you up and if you try a liter of all their beers, you get a $50 gift certificate. Also, for every liter of beer you get a complimentary free hot dog! We would also come here for soccer games, usually a great atmosphere for el clasico or EPL games. I love beer and this was my first time at the Beirgarten in Schenectady. Went on a Saturday night and it was crowded, they have darts and this shuffle board game thingy which is cool. Everything was great until I stood on the side of the bar and saw how they clean their glasses. The bartenders literally dunk the glass in dirty brown water and then rinse it in plain water. Then they just wipe it down. That's it. I get that's its a busy bar and they go through a lot of glassware but come on. At least do that in the back so i can pretend I'm not drinking 30 different peoples backwash. Gross. read more

This place was super cool! It is a big room with lots of long tables and some smaller high tops. This place is a great place to go with a big group as there was lots of space. They had tons of awesome beers on tap, many from other countries. They also had a little food station with different sausages and a couple other options. The mac & cheese was awesome and the butternut squash soup was delicious! We visited a few days before Christmas and it was beautifully decorated with trees and wreaths. It really got us into the festive holiday spirit! read more

I went there on my birthday to drink a boot of beer: you put a $40 deposit, leave your drivers license and get a 2L boot of beer. I went to return the boot and get my deposit and DL. By accident, I forgot to put my mask on, although it was strapped to my arm. The (very young) bartender asked, using a fairly harsh tone, for me to put my mask on, which I immediately did, and apologized for it. The bartender then continued with his extremely aggressive language, throwing the f-word around about a fine they recently got (I believe he was referring to their recent liquor license suspension). I asked him politely to watch his language and just check me out. He proceeded to throw the money and DL across the counter towards me (the DL fell on the floor) and said "get the f*** out of here and never come back". I asked to speak to the manager, he said he is the manager, asked for his name, he refused to write it down for me, and when I insisted for his name he proceeded to call the police on me ... police did not show up for the next few minutes I was still there, so I am not sure if he actually called them or not, but quite a way to impress on your customers to come back! Mind you, this is on my birthday on a Saturday evening. As we were getting ready to leave he was making obscene gestures at me and on the way out he followed my friends and I and whispered under his breath "you guys are a bunch of p*****!" That whole experience was unreal! I am reaching out to the owner (Matt Baumgartner) to let him know how his managers are treating their clients. Hopefully he'll receive my message or read this. First off, where do I start? The Biergarten has an amazing look inside and out! I was able to meet the chef as she was the one who took my order. She knows what she's doing in the kitchen and the other employees were just as professional when my food was served. You could tell she leads by example. I'm definitely coming back! I really like this bar. I firmly believe it's better than the Albany location. I especially appreciate the fact that I can walk to the bathroom without fear of death by dart. So happy to have our own Biergarten in downtown Schenectady. German imported beer is some of the best on earth. Free freakin peanuts. Shuffleboard was a great addition. The food was decent by the service was on a different level. Like what is going on with this place? I'm not from the area so we didn't exactly know how it works. We went up to order our food and the woman looked at us and then walked away. About ten minutes later she returned and asked if we knew what we wanted. After recieving our food I asked if I could have some ketchup and she told me she didn't know where any were and then walked away.
